Ordered half/half tea that was good, fries waffle, and cheese steak with peppers, onions, banana peppers, mayo. Not a fan of waffle fries. Sandwich marginal. Very small for the price. About 4 bell pepper slices, maybe 3 oz meat, enough banana peppers served on a hot dog bun, WTF! This place, during COVID, has not stepped up! Ordered a chicken Philly cheesesteak.. have heard great things but was thoroughly disappointed. It came with a TON of oregano. It overpowered everything. All I could taste was oregano seasoning. I wish they would have mentioned it came with it as I don't like oregano and would have ordered it without, instead of getting home taking a few bites and deciding it was inedible. Honestly a little disappointed. I've been driving past this shop for almost a year before stopping. I was very excited to try their cheesesteaks which seems like their most well know item. The cheesesteaks are a little small for what you pay for, we payed 25$ for two 8 inch phillys, two "large" fries and two drinks. The phillys were lacking cheese, mayo, meat, onions, pretty much everything you would expect from a classic philly. Doing some errands in Maitland and got hungry. Saw Kappy's Subs and a pretty full parking lots. Always a good sign especially when they are local license plates. Finish up my errands and pull in. I went inside to sit at the counter. Pretty big menu for a small place. Ordered a cheese steak. Very tasty and pretty quick even with the constant customer traffic. While watching the lady assembling sandwiches I grew concerned because I have an allergy to mayonnaise and she was using a lot. So this place looks kinda odd from the outside hence why I never checked it out before but I was shockingly deceived. I was greeted by a young lady who was so pleasant and helpful in advising us in what to order. I cannot recall her name but she has short hair and was just so wonderful. The other employee Chris who makes the food did an amazing job and made sure we had a good experience as well. Although the place is old it's got that vintage vibe and it is just so cool to eat somewhere that retains its original decor. As for the food we ordered a philly and tuna sub, both were delicious. Kappy's is a dive, yes, but they know how to serve up diner food. The bacon cheeseburger I had was topped with the innards of a Philly cheesesteak. It was delicious and a steal for $8. I see a lot of people ragging on Kappy's for being expensive but every burger worth eating in Orlando (that I can think of) sells for much more than that. Pro-tip for dining in: if you check in on FB and show them, they give you a free soft drink. I can't wait to go back and try something else from the burger menu. read more

How can you not love Kappy's? I had lunch here the other day and it was amazing. This place has been around for a very long time and it's known for steak sandwiches. I had a huge sub with steak, onions, mushrooms, and banana peppers. I got a side of onion rings and a large drink. Most people pick up sandwiches to go or sit outside. I chose the inside bar which was air conditioned and well lit. The service was fast and the food is delicious. I got a chocolate milk shake to go and it was so tasty. It's not the healthiest stuff to eat on a regular basis but once every couple months doesn't do too much damage. Great spot. You've gotta check it out if you haven't tried it yet. read more

Stopped in for a bite, never been here before. It was a cozy and very friendly atmosphere, we were immediately greeted by friendly faces. I felt at home right away. First time in Maitland... driving past and pulled a U-turn too come back to Kappy's. Love the outdoor feel with diner style bars stools inside. Me and my wife was driving down 17/92 in Maitland and noticed Kappy's. My wife looked them up on the internet and saw some good reviews so we decided to go the next day for lunch. IT WAS AWFULL AND THE EMPLOYEES COULDN"T CARE LESS. I ordered two Philly Cheese Steaks with onions, peppers and mushrooms. Two medium cokes and an order of onion rings. They told me the mushrooms would be 50b cents extra and I said okay. I did not price out anything before ordering because we were just there to get what we wanted on a rainy Sunday. This may sound good and any moron should be able to make this sandwich. As you pay at the window they ask for the tip up front on the ticket you sign so you feel obligated even though you have no clue what kind of service you would get. I gave they a couple of bucks for a tip even though I ordered at a window and I was not served. All they had to do was cook it and push it through. When they called my name I went up to the window and they said it was at the side window where it was raining. I walked over to the side window with the rain and got my sandwiches and sat down under the outside covered area. Me and my wife opened up the sandwiches and what we saw was a bun filled with hamburger, some canned unheated mushrooms and pickled peppers. We were like what is this? We didn't even see the onions. I went back up to the window and asked if they put onions on the sandwich and they said they did. I went back to the table and after a search me and my wife concluded that there may be some little specks of onions mixed in the hamburger. I went back to the window and asked if the way they made the Philly Cheese Steaks was with the onion mixed in the hamburger before the cooked the meat and they said yes. I went back and sat down with my wife and we discussed how this was not like any Philly Cheeses Steak we had ever ordered and how WE WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OF COOKING "STEAK-UMS" AT HOME. As we talked and decided this was not a Philly Cheese Steak place could they be redeemed by looking at the menu and finding some things we liked. My wife noticed that there was a combo for about the same price as what we got. I went and asked them about this and they looked at the ticket and said we got and paid for what we ordered. Then I noticed that what we got was a Kappy Steak Sandwiched and told her this is not what we ordered and what I ordered was a Philly Cheese Steak. They could not care less and that was that. They were nice and all but didn't care what we ordered how they served it or even if we were happy or not. I went back to the window at this point and asked about a receipt to maybe refer to Management later and realized I was dealing with management. There was 4 employees there and not one of them gave a Krappy. They said we could hand write you one and I just decided that this was what this place was all about. KRAPPY SERVICE. I went to my vehicle to leave and almost went back in to ask for my couple of tip dollars back but decided that KRAPPY KAPPY WAS NOT WORTH MY TIME. So here I am letting the Krappy out of the bag. FOR A KRAPPY GO TO KAPPY'S OF MAITLAND. Next time we want something like that we can do better by cooking up some Steak-Ums. STAY OUT OF KRAPPY KAPPY'S. They have 5 chances between 4 people to make this right but couldn't give a Krappy. read more

Not like I remember it. I have a hunch management may have changed in the last few years. When I first went years ago I loved that the building was one of the only places in Central Florida with character. I still like the building but the quality has steadily gone down and the prices have steadily gone up. A hot dog with a bun way too short and a coke is over $5. Costco's is better for $1.50. The place smells like the oil hasn't been changed in ions. The workers are sweaty and handle all the food with their hands. Their special cheesteak (extra for almost all toppings) is tasty but smallish and for a plain one $8.95 with fries and a drink. This deal does not compare favorably with WaWa or La Spada in value, quanitiy or quality. I do like the old school feel for the place but I'll experience that in the future by driving by, not by purchasing food. read more

We found this place by accident. The place is small and looks like it has been around for a long time. From my experience places that look like this always have great food. I had the Philly cheese steak. I am from South Jersey close to Philadelphia so I know a thing or two about a good cheese steak sub. I have to admit they were a bit skimpy on the meat. I'm used to sub's that are packed with meat. However, when I bit into it I was pleasantly surprised. It tasted AWESOME!!!!!!! I had fried onions, mayo, and cheese. It was seasoned to perfection. The onions made it taste just that much better. The mozzarella they used was a different twist and was spot on. Normally I get american cheese, but the mozzarella paired perfectly.
