The food and drink options aren't stellar, nor is the decor, but it's a fun spot to do karaoke with friends on the cheap. There are karaoke rooms down the street that probably offer a more upscale experience but for a much higher cost. Here, you just pay for food and drink. $15 minimum pp comes out to about two drinks if you choose them correctly, so it's very reasonable. Song selection is good and it wasn't too crowded when we went, so easy to get your song in. They let each person pick several songs before you have to buy something again, so as long as it isn't crowded it's easy to get your money's worth. I felt sad about Ralph retiring and Karaoke Bleu having a new owner, but I'm happy that the new owner plans to keep the karaoke alive. I'm curious about any changes they might make, but I'm glad the place will stay open. This is Ralph's last week; next week, he will officially retire. Don't come here. Owner, manager, or whatever's sits there pretending like he's a normal customer, but he pounced when we came in. Pretty much, this bar will charge you a minimum of 2 drinks (lowest priced drink is like $8-$10, so you're forced at least to pay $16-$20 per person). I found this criteria a little insane, considering there was only 3 customers on a Friday night. After mentioning this to him, he tried baiting us by focusing on the fact, repeatedly, that there was no cover charge," all while omitting the 2 drinks minimum per person criteria... he essentially tried to bait us into staying. A group of 7 of us in high spirits, entered what we believed would be this swanky karaoke bar and did not complain about the minimum of 2 drinks per person. We upheld to their protocol to order, shared karaoke with other patrons and was enjoying ourselves till the owner uprooted and kicked us out prematurely. The owner hounded us to purchase and pay the bill prematurely, and then cut off the party well before their advertised hours with nothing more than a thank you. This place used to be a shithole, but a fun shithole. Now, it's an unfun shithole. The owner of the place acts like its Studio 54. To be fair, it does look like it's 100 years old. That used to be the charm of this place. But now - to have a roped off section outside, a table minimum, etc. at a place that a movie would show Bruce Willis at on Christmas Eve after he lost his family - is embarrassing. It was insanity in there. Songs were playing over and over again with nobody going up. A chant of "turn it up" broke out. The servers were doing all they could, but i'm telling you. This owner/manager couldn't run a McDonald's playpen (check out the other reviews). He'd put a valet outside and charge $10 to get in. Would come back in a heartbeat if that guy leaves. Pros - Everyone in there realizes how horrible it is and it does create a bonding experience where you can commiserate with other patrons - You can kind of do whatever you want in here since it's complete pandemonium. This place has so many rules. I like places with regular people rules. Stuffy and vibeless.. Just moved a few blocks away from this place and I was excited to check it out. When I walked up, the old owner dude put his hand out to stop me from coming in and asked "can I help you". So right from the beginning I felt weirdly profiled. I'm Hispanic and yes I felt a bit discriminated agains but I also try to have manners so I remained composed. I said "it's a bar... I'd like a beer". His response was "ok, just to let you know we have a minimum, it's $10" I said "that's fine, I'll have 2 beers if that's ok". Place was completely empty, like someone opened the vacuum of space to sucked the vibe out completely. Been to a few other places round the house and everyone says the same thing all the reviews say about this place. I mean I didn't have that bad of an experience, but I definitely felt uncomfortable. Obviously that old dude weirds people out, he weirded me out. Won't go back, but the reviews have been wayyyyy more interesting than the place itself. Not a fun place. Discriminatory owner: Was having a good time until the owner/bartender picked the wrong words with me. Around 12:30 an hour before last call the bill was just brought to me with asking for it so i paid immediately. I did not leave a tip yet as we were still enjoying the night. The owner approached me about not leaving a tip on a $150 bill and I said I was going to tip cash as we still had songs coming up and the night to enjoy. He insulted me and scoffed at me and I explained why would my explanation not be sufficient about tipping before I leave if I already paid my bill? I was hot with a "you people are the worst" I let him know he didn't have to go there with me as I already gave him an explanation and that I was still enjoying myself with my fiancée. I left my tip for the servers who were very nice but Won't ever go back and he even insulted me on the way out saying "have a good night asshole" Imagine spending $150 to be treated like less of a person and made felt unwelcome after having a good night. There is a much cleaner and nicer karaoke bar across the street with better prices and service. Some friends and I stopped here to pregame before clubbing, and we had a rather sub-par experience. The bar was practically empty. At most, there were five people besides our small party. Service was okay; occasionally, some staff would stick to rules very closely to the point of being a bit overbearing. The drinks contained minimal liquor and tasted a lot more like juice than $10-$15 cocktails. My friends and I bought 3-4 drinks each and we all left the bar feeling completely sober. We had a blast here the other night. It was a Tuesday and it was kind of slow so we basically had a private lounge all to ourselves. We had about 15 people roll through and had a blast singing everything from rap to pop to rock at the top of our lungs. Our bartender and servers were awesome. The place is pretty nice with standard lounge decor. The sound system could be better, but it was fine for what we needed. Ideally it would be nice to see what song/ singer is coming up next, but we mad it work. Drink prices are very reasonable, the snack selection is limited and a little pricey, but if you want delicious Asian food you don't have to look much further than anywhere on sawtelle. I believe there's a parking lot behind the building which is nice cause parking can be a pain in the area. I recommend that you just uber (especially if your drinking). They make you feel like you have to pass so much red tape for a 12x12 bar. 1. They would ask us if we wanted any more drinks and then brought us the check 2. They don't go in order for the karaoke songs 3. You can't stand next to your friends tables 4. Can't even sit at the bar 5. They make it really hard just to start your own tab 6. Came in tonight and instantly noticed it was empty. Proceeded to come in with company (4 people) and had a good time within our own company anyway. My boyfriend and friend performed a song and got reprimanded after for not following the rule which was that you had to stand on the center of the stage... they stood on the side because they were a little shy they had to start off of our group. After that they felt a little discouraged but that alone made us feel like the owner was weird and alienated people that didn't fit his vibe.. which I'm not sure what that even was. I understand pandemic was hard everyone and times are tough. But the management is rude and counts how many songs you sing. Very stingy and will charge you for water if you don't drink alcohol. There is a $10 minimum which in LA is normal so I thought nothing of it. We just wanted a good night of singing Karaoke. They cut down their staff so the Karaoke Dj is being a waitress as well so they put their karaoke songs on Auto-play. And there are no buffers for anyone to get up on the stage and you have to have them restart the music. The echo and reverb is so loud you can barely hear yourself. There was no one in the bar (understandably) and the drinks are sub par. Save your time and money book a private room somewhere else. read more

I came here and had a reasonably good time. Drinks were LA prices, mic set up was good, and the decor was fun. I saw a girl walking around taking orders, one of them was wearing a bra with a fishnet top. I thought it was cool she was confident enough to wear it and told her I really liked her top. She looked at me with the most solemn face and told me it was her uniform. Ugh. UGH. This isn't a strip club it's a dive bar. The owners going to make girls wear that as a uniform? Omg! This place is so much fun. Came here after my white coat celebration with 10 of my friends and we sang all night. The only con is that this place doesn't have food. Super weird experience. The host (a lady) said they could accommodate our group (8 of us). She said it was a minimum of 15$ per person that we had to spend. We said it was fine, she checked out ID's, but the owner of this establishment comes out to check if you're "the right kind of people" before he lets you in. The service was cool and the sound system was great but the manager was a complete weirdo. There's a two drink minimum to sing six songs. Well we ordered 8. 1 drink spills just a little bit and the manager comes to wipe it down rudely with no respect of personal space while mentioning he was in a bad mood. We were having fun with other customers, the bartenders/waitresses just jamming and vibing while he was being a prick. It's okay for a drink to spill at a bar on accident when you're a paying customer of overpriced drinks. He also told my friend how to properly hold a microphone mid-song. Maybe your sound system is not balanced properly because your waitress is also the DJ. Plus, who does that? Lol so weird. The manager should check out a REAL successful karaoke bar and learn a thing or ten because this one is absolutely NOTHING compared to plenty! They said we still did not reach a minimum, but I didn't want to drink?? It felt so forceful with all of the rules. We complained and then they stopped playing all of our songs. This place is the worst. I am the Co-President of a large organization. My Co-President inquired about hosting an event here and was told that they "strongly believe" their venue is not suited for our event. We regularly spend $3-5k on quarterly events for our members and are looking for a new regular place and this will not be it. We were told this isn't a "dive bar" but Yelp literally classifies it as such. After looking at the pictures, I now remember I went here once before.
