I had soup, manti (dumplings) with dumpling- lamp plate and meatball sub. The dumpling soup was good- felt like a familiar taste of clean hardy dumping in blotch. Manti- we ordered half steamed and half friend and they were great! I tell ya- these dumplings are huge and it can possibly feed two people and can walk out full. The lamb plate was exceptional- it's not Mediterranean- super clean and flavorful dish. Meatball sub was the best I e had! Crunchy sub and juicy meatball with savory marinara and gooey cheese. Second time I had khachapuri (the boat looking bread with cheese in center and egg!). Super rich but pleasant. I would need this in - real cold and starving setting haha this bread alone can fill 3 people in my a Opinion. Also ordered 2 bowls of borsch (cabbage soup). Gosh, I absolutely love this place. We've been twice now both times with a large group. Last night we went with a group of 40 people. We had let the staff know ahead of time how many were in our party and I can't say enough good things about how well-prepared they were. We were sat quickly, got our waters and drinks, and they did everything in their power to get our food out as quickly as possible. They did not stop moving the entire two hours we were there. The staff at this place is absolutely amazing. Now, onto the food. They have both an Italian and Uzbek menu. I got the garlic knots, a side salad, and the steak kabobs, and my partner got a side salad and the lasagna. We both were very happy with our food. I really love the garlic knots here. This is a very nice restaurant, well decorated and comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive offering suggestions as this was our first time trying Uzbek cuisine. We stuck to mostly appetizers only because there were many to choose from and we ran out of stomach capacity. We tried Manti, Samsa, Khachapuri,, and Morkovcha. We also had the Medocik dessert cake. We get 3 Olives Pizza quite often so I was excited to try Karavan and I was not disappointed! The surprise performance was the butternut squash Samsa. Light, flaky pastry with a delicious butternut squash filling. I had my first but definitely not last Khachapuri. The cheese.... So much delicious melty cheese... The waiter was kind and patient as we navigated the menu and ordered way more food than we could eat. They did a pretty good job making you feel like you weren't in a strip mall restaurant. We had Butternut Squash Samsas, Bamaza Eggplant (crispy fried eggplant with drizzled balsamic glaze), Non (a crispy sesame bread), Potatoes po Domashni (crispy potatoes with mushrooms and a yogurt sauce), and Fried Lagman (a pasta dish). Karavan is located in a shopping center in Garner. The restaurant is casual. The food is amazing here but the service leaves something to be desired. We were seated promptly, brought menus, then about 30 seconds later wanted to take the orders. the menu is half Uzbekistan food and half Italian depending what you are in the mood for. When I did order non, I was told that was bread. I'm not sure why she thought I'd just get an entree. So I explained I wanted an appetizer. Then I ordered the eggplant after seeing the rave reviews. For my entree I went with the steak kebab and did the veggies and rice for the sides. The eggplant portion was very generous so most of that was taken to go. I liked that it was in chunks and the flavoring was delicious. The steak kebab was also good size and I would have finished it there but sensed they wanted us to leave. We live far from the restaurant (40mins away) but have been here at least twice a year b/c we loved the food here and never had issue with CUSTOMER SERVICE until this time. We got a coupon through dinning advantage for 25% off of the total bill up to $25. I got the same coupon last year and was able to use the coupon in store successfully. Today, we placed a big order (~$100) via phone and mentioned the coupon during the call anticipating that the coupon can be applied like last time. When I arrived the restaurant talking to the guy front who was polite, he was unfamiliar with the coupon and brought the coupon to show this lady for further instructions. This lady came back with the coupon and told me firmly that they are a family business and they never had any relationship with dinning advantage and the coupon couldn't be used. I was obviously surprised - when I told her I was able to use the coupon successfully last year, she asked me who I spoke to like I was lying or trying to scam her. This was already a frustrated situation and her attitude definitely didn't help. She went on saying if I know how difficult it is for small business (we obviously wanted to support family business otherwise we wouldn't drive 40mins over here) and they only have store coupon once a year in summer time and no any other coupons. When I asked her if any discount could be applied given what's our fault in this situation, she firmly said I need to contact dining advantage and they had nothing to do with the situation. When I was trying to figure out if I can contact dinning advantage, she just walked away without saying anything and never came back. At this point, I was so frustrated of the situation and the interchange with this lady. I walked back to the car. After explaining the whole situation to my husband (who loved the food here) and told him that I probably would never come back again, he decided to go inside as a neutral party to see if anything can be done. He went inside and explained to the polite guy up front about the situation. The guy went back to talk to the lady (who didn't even bother to speak to my husband face to face). It appeared that she thought my attitude being a frustrated customer was off putting, and she didn't want to be patient or helpful with me. Though I probably never return b/c of this experience, but I'd still recommend the food here just hope everyone else would get a better customer service experience than me. read more

Wherever I am, I usually try to support local mom and pop restaurants and usually, it's a pleasant surprise! Karavan by 3 Olives is one of those types of spots, a Uzbeki restaurant in what is a more standard, Italian-American pizza spot. I had come here for a takeout pizza during the pandemic but decided a return visit was needed. Karavan probably does more of a take-out, delivery business but they've got a fairly large (and quiet) dining room decked out in slightly central Asian (I'm guessing) decor. The Uzbeki menu on the back on their pizza menu and covers starters, soups, entrees and kebabs, maybe 20 or so items? I have no idea what I'm ordering so I get some fried barak and chicken kebabs with veggies and rice. The barak are delicious, like beef fried wontons and served with a tomato dipping sauce. And the kebabs come out super hot, chicken thighs with grilled veggies and a toothsome rice pilaf. It's all delicious and I'm already looking forward to trying more off the menu. And while I don't know Uzbeki eats well, I know what Karavan serves up is pretty delish. If you're in the area (Garner Station) stop on by and dine at this hidden gem. Tucked away in a shopping center off of 401 and Garner Station Blvd is a hidden gem named Karavan by 3 olives an Uzbeki/Pizza joint ... you may say WTF ???? But dont be scared it's actually delicious food here . You walk in and it looks pretty simple with not alot of cheesy decorations or flare like other places ... they keep the decor here simple and focus on the food ... So the menu is split on both side .. one is your italian type fare with pizza and your normal stuff ... the other side of the menu is where it's at! The Uzbeki food ! Started off with the Barak  which is fried homemade Raviolis filled with ground beef and served with a almost marinara/salsa type dipping sauce ... the filling was like little nugs of beef with spices.. and was pretty tasty... Next was the Khachapuri which is a traditional Georgian dish filled with cheese-filled bread, which almost sunny side eggs... which was delicious... basically you pull apart the cheese bread and dip it into the semi runny egg and enjoy... Now onto the entrees... the Salmon Kebabs were medium cut well marinated salmon cubes packed with flavor and served with a choice of grilled veggies/ rice/ or mashed potatoes... since we had carb heavy appz... decided on double grilled veggies for the entrees .. the salmon was perfectly grilled with a lil char and not dry at all .. Also was ordered was the Lula Kebab which is ground beef with a Uzbeki spices and seasoning grilled to perfection.... each piece was fall nice and juicy and packed with flavor... it was complimented well with the grilled veggies which consisted of bell peppers, mushrooms, squash, and red onions... Uzbeki cuisine just minutes from dt Raleigh. Tuck in the corner of an unassuming shopping strip lies a gateway to Central Asia. The atmosphere inside teleports you to a bazaar along the Silk Road with the smattering of cultures and cuisines. I would never recommend ordering takeout from this place. We placed an order online, and--surprise--it apparently never went through. Did they figure that out right away? Of course not. It took them 20 minutes to realize, because when I first showed up, they told me to "just wait a minute" since it was supposedly being prepared. Fifteen minutes later, with zero updates, I asked again--only to be told, "Oh, we don't have your order at all." Funny, because my credit card shows I was charged. Why no one could tell me this upfront instead of wasting my time, I'll never know. Maybe don't offer online ordering if your team has no clue how to handle it? So, I left with no food, no apology, and now I get to maybe see my money back in a "couple of days." Absolutely terrible service. What a great way to ruin Mother's Day. read more

We went back tonight and got kebobs; everything was flavorful and delicious. The place was not busy; we were one of 4 tables, and there was one front room person. The nice thing is we were spaced out. However, that also meant the waitress could not see the customers' needs. So once again, we had empty glasses regularly; as someone who used to wait tables is one of my pet peeves because it's something you can monitor without needing to approach a table. So after going twice, it's always been quiet, and the food has been excellent. However, understand that if you are focused on an attentive waitstaff, this is not going to be a dining experience you will enjoy. read more

It was better than I expected. I was invited for a bday party at this place a few weeks ago and I wasn't very sure how it would be because one side of the menu there was Italian food (pizza, pasta, sandwiches) and the other side there was Russian/Uzbek food. And when I got there, the nail salon next door was playing some very loud music but I'm glad we couldn't hear it inside the restaurant. When I got there my friends had already ordered Potatoes Po Domashni, Khachapuri and Barak. I tried them and they were all very good. The potatoes were very flavorful (definitely recommend it!), the Khachapuri bread was good and it has cheese and an egg inside (not my thing but I ate some of the bread), and the Barak was great too (it's kinda like a fried egg roll dough with meatball inside). After the appetizers, I ordered some Steak Kabob with grilled veggies and mashed potatoes. I really enjoyed my meal! The kabob had a smoky char taste just the way I like it. I just wish it was a little less tough, but overall it was good. The grilled veggies were amazing and the mashed potatoes was good too. We didn't order desserts because the bday girl brought a cake but they recommended me to try the Medovik desert next time. I'll definitely come back when I go back to Garner. read more

Delicious fare at this combo Italian and Uzbek spot. The interior is much more upscale that you would imagine, given the store location tucked away in a strip mall. Beautifully wood paneled walls with faux- wood tiled floors, cloth wall decorations to add style and absorb sound and unique oval light fixtures with Edison bulbs. There are perhaps 25 tables and booths spaced throughout, in 2 sections, with a fully stocked bar at the back. Tasteful smooth jazz plays in the background, nicely tuned to enable conversation without shouting. Our server, Maddy, did a great job. Came back with a couple of clarifying questions to make sure our order was correct, which is always appreciated. Minor ding that the Manti that we ordered as an appetizer arrived with the entrees. It's an eclectic menu - a page of Uzbek delicacies and then a few pages of Italian fare. It makes sense as a restaurant to hedge your bets to ensure that you've got something for everyone. Both cuisines were executed well. We started with a plate of Manti. These are large dumplings, stuffed with diced, spiced beef and onions, then steamed. The beef is tender, savory and moist. Spices are subtle. Served with a side of seasoned sour cream for dipping. These were excellent. Next up, a bowl of borscht. This is served hot, the broth balanced between beef and beet flavored. The bowl is brimming with shredded beets, carrots and chunks of tender beef. This was very tasty. I was expecting the borscht to be served cold... And on this hot day, hot soup didn't fit the bill. Not a flaw, I just assumed cold & never asked. Also tried Sansa. These are the same diced, spiced beef and caramelized onions, this time encased in layered dough and baked. The pastry is golden brown and crusty, the beef moist and savory. Almost knish-like, but with a unique blend of meat and spices. Yum! Next, on to the stromboli. Spinach, garlic, tomatoes and feta cheese topped with tomato sauce, rolled like a pinwheel in dough, then baked with slits in the top. Dough is nice and crusty, insides gooey with melted cheese and tender spinach. Finally, a Caesar salad and beef kabab. The salad is a melange of lettuce, sliced tomatoes, cukes, green peppers, red onions and black olives, sprinkled with with feta cheese, with zesty greek dressing on the side. Ingredients are crisp and fresh. The kabab features cubes of delicious beef, marinated then grilled on a skewer. Beef is prepared medium and fork tender, flavorfully spiced. Kababs are served over a bed of yellow rice, with grilled vegetables. It's an interesting mix of different cuisines, which the kitchen delivers without a hitch. The food is delicious and true to tradition. The room is nicely appointed and comfortable, service is friendly. A good place to try! read more

The spinach calzone had tomato, garlic & feta in a thinner dough than traditional calzones. It was crustier. I suspect that the bread and calzone were made with the same dough as the khachipuri which gave it that nice crust. Chicken kebab was a very generous portion and very flavorful. The Plov here is amazing!! So much wonderful flavor. The Manti was good, both fried and original versions. However, the original is the best from trying them both (you can ask for half and half). The white yogurt sauce compliments them well. The Khachapuri was very good as well. Very creamy/cheesy and dipping the bread in the egg yolk made it ever better. The Russian honey cake, or Medovik is very tasty! I guess it reminds me of a tiramisu without the chocolate/coffee notes. Instead, honey flavor. Service was good and our server was very friendly. The ambiance was good-- not too crazy so it wasn't a distraction from the food. We were told this was the only 3 olives location that included the Karavan... or food of Uzbek. The ambiance is that of a family friendly restaurant where you can enjoy a good meal with friends and family.
