Kareem's is a hidden gem in a Anaheim! I came here for a quick lunch. You order at the counter and seat yourself. There is a gorgeous outdoor patio. i had the chicken bowl and loved it. chicken was moist and flavored very well. there was a really nice balance of flavors with the rice, salad, pickled veggies, and hummus. i also got the iced black tea with mint to go with! i highly recommend kareem's, i'll definitely be coming back. read more

TL;DR - bomb food! would definitely come back if i was in the area FOOD: *sautéed steak - so yummy and flavorful! the steak was cooked nicely and not overdone. the tomato-y base was addicting and i scraped my plate clean! the sides of hummus, pita bread, and salad were all great and balanced the dish too. 5/5 SERVICE: the cashier and servers were all wonderful and efficient! felt very family-owned which i think it is! 5/5 PRICE: if i remember correctly, with tax and tip it came out to around $20 which i think is worth the quality and serving size. read more

I've ordered from here a few times on my lunch break, each time I've got something different and it was delicious!!! This last time I got a steak bowl with salad instead of rice and omg it was so good I had to pull over to eat, I didn't even make it back to work lol. The owner is incredibly sweet and treats every customer like family. The entire restaurant has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the plants, the decorations, all of these details create such a cozy experience! The service was excellent from start to finish, and the food was spectacular! Everything exceeded my expectations, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Mediterranean food is probably one of my favorites. And Kareem's didn't fail to remind me that. The staff are kind. Very simple concept; order-pay, take a number, find a seat & get served once the foods ready. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, however the day that I visited, it was over 100° so I opted to sit inside. Water and Togo boxes are self served. Chicken Plate -- 5/5. Great portions for the cost. Comes with your choice of 2 sides + 2 pieces of naan. I chose hummus and rice and this plate easily fed me twice. read more

The food here was amazing! I got the kufta plate with fries and tabbouli. My friend got the off menu saute beef and also found it much to his liking similar to what he's had overseas. Overall the meat was tender, the fries were fried and seasoned well and the mixed veggies with tabbouli were great. The food came out in a reasonable manner and the outdoor sitting area is nice and spacious. I would come back here again to try the rest of the menu. read more

Absolutely loved this place. The food was fresh, delicious with generous servings. The courtyard seating area was nice as was the music. Favorite dish for today was the Kufta! I'll be returning for this alone. The chicken was well seasoned and love the grill preparation. Rice was perfectly cooked and the hummus was smooth and creamy but needed a touch more salt. Disappointed and treated poorly - twice. I really wanted to like Kareem's and gave it a second chance after a bad first visit, but unfortunately, the experience was just as disappointing. We weren't treated nicely at all. We asked for garlic sauce with our order and didn't receive it, and when we politely asked for ketchup, we were told to go to 7-Eleven and then had the gate closed on us. The fries we paid for were also a small, mediocre portion. I had come once before with a friend and the staff was also rude that time. I tried to be fair and give it another shot, but I regret it. read more

Serving up their delicious falafel for almost 30 years (since 1996) just down the street from the happiest place on earth in OC's Little Arabia neighborhood. This family owned/operated restaurant is considered a staple and it seems like their falafel specifically is being made more available around town. This space isn't large - a walk up order window, about 3-4 tables inside and some seating outside in a small patio area. The vibe feels like a warm family neighborhood spot and the service is somewhat casual. Not a full service restaurant, but not just a take out/ fast food/ fast casual spot either. I felt like I had to order something with the falafel. Falafel is one of those foods that I try as much as I can to see why some people swear by it. I have to say, it was super delicious here. I ordered a wrap. The falafel had a nice crispy outside. On the inside, it was soft, but still grainy (good texture) and lots of flavor. I'm definitely a fan. I also got the lentil soup which I also enjoyed very much. If you are looking for delicious, fresh middle eastern food with reasonable prices, this place is a must. I craved for some Shakshuka and found this restaurant. I arrived at the place and was very impressed! There's a little garden outside that turns out to be the main dining area -- the inside of the restaurant only has three tables. I stayed inside because the outdoor was packed, but I can see that the garden area is a very relaxing place for breakfast and brunch. They made their shakshuka differently (scrambled, not poached like the usual) but it was still delicious. I loved the bhaklava too. This place is a must try if you love Mediterranean food. read more

This place is literally a diamond in the ruff gem hidden in a random strip mall! We found this place by chance looking for a lunch spot with a friend. You also know a place is a good when the local police come to eat here. Yeah two cops came to lunch here in front of us lol. The menu looks very normal like your usual Mediterranean place but oh wow the flavors are so good! They have a tiny indoor dining area with like 4 tables and a small outdoor patio area. The must get item is the fried cauliflower: Topped with tahini and caramelized onions in your choice of spicy or none. OH my the flavor on these are mouth watering. The texture is super crispy on the exterior but moist in the middle. The spicy semi sour profile from the tahini and fresh lemon juice and the sweet caramelized onions totally hit the spot. They are super healthy too! The chicken wrap: Mixed greens, tomatoes, pickles, grilled chicken chipotle tahini sauce. Pretty much followed what one of the police officers recommended and ordered too. The chicken is super tender and flavorful with the nice mix of chipotle tahini sauce. A great portable lunch bite indeed. The Grilled chicken plate we got with hummus and fries. It also comes with pita bread on the side. The chicken was i think the same chicken in the wrap so again tender and flavorful. The hummus you can tell is made fresh with that fresh nuttiness of fresh blended chickpeas and well seasoned. The side order is a HUGE order enough for a whole family or to share with the whole table. A great whole in the wall place that we will absolutely be visiting again! The auntie-lady at the counter is super friendly and nice too! They'll come keep checking in on you even outside to see if you need anything. Totally family owned business vibes. read more

I was visiting LA last weekend and tried this homely Mediterranean place, credit to my friends. And I am glad they made me try this just before leaving LA, its a gem of a place. In terms of ambience, it is has a cute outdoor seating and few seating indoors as well. We came in at a non-rush hour so the food was ready fairly quickly. Rating all the food: 1. Falafel: honestly, this is fantastic, I have never had fresher and tastier falafel. Just Amazing! 2. Chicken bowl: full, hearty meal of flavored chicken, basmati rice, greens, hummus, pickled onions and some pita chips: so tasty and fresh! the quantity is also very good 3. Falafel Tots!? Yup yall heard right! Never heard of falafel tots before so I had to give it a try, and it did not disappoint! Nice flavor, crunchy yet pillowy texture, and with the saucesss, fire! I also really enjoyed the plates we got (combo grill & plant based fat kid) from the tender and flavorful meats, to the thick spicy hummus, and of course the delicious roasted babaganoush! There were so many flavors going on and it was tasty! Can't forget the homemade baklava cheesecake, never had that before either, it was a nice change to just having one or the other, the texture and sweetness to it was delicious. NO KABOBS! NO KABOBS! Be warned. Came here based off of the reviews and was highly disappointed Ordered the combo plate that came with the toughest sirloin steak and driest chicken. The steak was cooked well done and not medium. The chicken was like an unbreaded chicken tender. The kufta was decent. The hummus looked like mayonnaise that was left out too long and was very bland. The rice, was rice. The best part of our meal were the French fries l, store bought non-pita bread, the coke and jarritos drink. The service, neither friendly nor unfriendly, just kind of there. The falafel was ok, although my personal taste palate more aligned with Sababa Falafel's falafel. Another person I have test out both falafels preferred Kareem's falafel specifically when dipped in tahini. Service took a while, I think it takes around 5 minutes to get your order ready, which is confusing because you can literally go in to Sababa Falafel and first thing they do is give you a free falafel. Outdoor area is nice and I could definitely see myself eating a meal here. Now for the review itself, I deduct one star because I have no idea if this food is a health hazard or not, out of 4 test subjects, 2 of us got stomach aches after said falafel. Doesn't matter how much we each ate whether 1 falafel or another 12. Now I'm not sure if this is because Kareem's falafel has an incredible amount of fiber or not because we have all ate lots of fiber and this issue hasn't really occurred. I only encountered minor rumbles but nothing crazy. Edit: wanted to make it clear that I personally only had very minor and insignificant issues with this falafel, whereas others had more problems. read more

So my sister recommended this spot and after living in OC for 40 years can't believe haven't tried it! The place is small And cute but huge patio seating Palestinian owned which I love to support them. So please try it out . Food is super fresh and tasty. It was my first time trying Kareem's and you can tell the food is made with a whole lot of TLC. Our meal was colorful from the pickled red onions, fresh salad and yellow rice, you eat with your eyes first and the meat was very tender! The ambiance was beautiful with the garden up front and the owner greeted us up front, made recommendations and asked us how was our food. Their restaurant stood the test of time by being open 30 years and counting! Every OC native or Angeleno should head on over and try it at least once! read more

Non-Middle Easterners think of the pita as limited to falafel, meat and maybe hummus, and most Middle Eastern sandwich shops are content to stuff flatbread with limpid veggies and tahini sauce that reeks of glue. The Hawaris, however, are pita magicians. Take--and eat--the labneh pita, for instance. Labneh is a sort of dairy spread reminiscent of minty Philadelphia cream cheese, a cool, smooth substance that most restaurants overwhelm with meat and lettuce. Kareem's fabulous falafels--a crunchy, chocolate-brown exterior encasing a soft-as-marshmallow, grass-green interior, not oily at all--come sweating with a nutty sesame sauce. Kareem's hummus by itself is great, chilled with perfect pools of olive oil in the center and enough chili powder sprinkled around to open up the taste buds but not the sweat glands.

I don't remember exactly how my friend and I first learned of this place, but we later spotted and bought a $25 for $15 Groupon for Kareem's, and decided to use our Groupon to have a late lunch here on a Saturday afternoon.Kareem's is a small, rather plainly-decorated restaurant, with seating for about two dozen people inside and perhaps a little fewer outside.My friend ordered a chicken kabob plate and I got the kufta (ground lamb and beef) kabob plate. We both got diet sodas to drink. There's no soda fountain, but a small refrigerator in the corner is stocked with canned sodas and bottled drinks. Straws and glasses with ice are available, but we had to ask for them.Food is made to order, so we had to wait quite a while until our plates were brought out. We exchanged half the meat on our plates, so we both wound up with the same combination of chicken and kufta. I thought the kabobs were a bit on the dry side, with the chicken being a bit drier than the kufta. I would have preferred the meat to be a bit juicier.Our plates included rice, hummus, and pita bread. We received three pieces of bread, which was fresh and warm. The hummus was very good, not overly garlicky or too salty. I liked the rice as well. The portions were sufficient, and appropriate for the price.After looking at the pictures of these plates on Yelp, I see that they normally come with grilled tomatoes and onions, pickles, and peppers. We received none of these vegetables, and I can only assume it's because we used a Groupon.I believe the benefit of making a Groupon available is for a business to bring in customers that otherwise wouldn't come through their door, and that a business harms itself by giving customers who use a Groupon a lesser experience. Kareem's saved perhaps a dollar by not including those vegetables on our plates, but is that dollar worth the negative opinion I now have of them for doing so?Another negative for me was the noise. They played nice Arabic music in the restaurant, and at a reasonable level, too. But a waitress clearing the table next to ours made no attempt to do so quietly, and pushed the chairs around so they made loud scraping sounds as they were moved about. There was also a rather loud racket coming from the kitchen during part of our visit.Overall I thought the food was pretty good, and I wouldn't mind going back to try something else on the menu. But it's pretty clear our plates were a bit modified from what you normally get when you don't use a Groupon, which I think is unfortunate. Three stars for now. read more

Kareem's is a gem conveniently located just a short drive away from Disneyland. I recently satisfied my craving with their takeout, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. First off, the ambiance is great with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor patio has a charming setup and blooming flowers--a perfect spot for a relaxed meal. I ordered the Catch Feelings Wrap, and it did not disappoint. Packed with hummus, pita croutons, feta, pickled onions, green onions, lettuce, tomato, garlic sauce, and chipotle sauce, all wrapped up in a spinach wrap. Every bite had the perfect ratio of veggies, chicken, and sauce. The chicken was incredibly flavorful, and I appreciated that they didn't skimp on the protein--something that can be rare these days. This has become one of my new favorite wraps. Whether you're a local or visiting Disneyland, Kareem's is a must-try if you're in the mood for Mediterranean food. With its close proximity to the park and delicious offerings, I'll definitely be returning to try more from their menu. couple of years ago i would have gave that place a 4 star, we live in san fran & it used to be a must stop for us (after i got over the fact that i had to wipe the forks & plates before using them which would explain the 1 star deduction to 4 but food was good).. However the last few times we were there we got treated like crap. the first time i said itsok maybe the chef kareem is having a bad day i'll give it one more shot.. the second time we went the place was closed still after half an hour from supposibly open time.. we waited out there for 5 min when we realized oh he's inside.. we knock on the door to ask him if he's open, he gave us attitude but he opened, then he messed up our food .. the foul tasted like he just opened a can of foul & LOTS & LOTS of cummin nothing else, food didn't taste the same( & i used to love the foul there) , he didn't give us the garlic sauce as usual & the whole experience was just plain bad and oh the dishes were filthy as usual.. if he didn't want our business, he should have said no i'm still not ready or still closed but to do that was just really really bad.. would NEVER go back there again he's just not worth it..he was a pure jerk! read more

I've been to a lot of arabic restaurants in my time, and i have to truly say that Kareem's restaurant is the best! No wonder they won BEST MIDDLE EASTERN RESTAURANT IN ORANGE COUNTY FOR 2009. There food is indescribable, I look forward to eating there every chance I get. You can smell the fresh home made falafel as you pull into the parking lot. The owners are very sweet, the beautiful woman has a smile at the window every time ready to take my order. There hummus is the best in the west, even better than my mother's, hope she doesn't see this review. They have a variety of dishes, every time I go there I try something new, and i don't have to worry about liking it or not because everything they have is delicious. THIS IS THE BEST MIDDLE EASTERN FOOD ON THE PLANET!!! Seriously, the food is so fresh, so rich in flavor, so authentic in recipe; it is beyond me how delicious every dish is. The kabob plates are phenomenal, my favorite is the Kufta kabob Plate, which is ground beef and ground lamb hand mixed with shredded parsley and onions. It is served with creamy hummus and hot basmati rice! My other must have entree is the falafel plate with baba ganoush! The falafel here is unlike any other falafel I've tried. I've had falafel in Egypt, Israel, Jordan, and Paris; Kareem's falafel is by far the best! It's a secret recipe but from what i can tell it is made with lots green vegetables (hence the inside is green) and is infused with many different spices which adds a nice kick and lastly is cooked to perfection. The baba ganoush is to die for!! I've seen the head chef make it before my eyes once and it really is so fresh and tasty! The eggplant is freshly grilled and then mixed into the other ingredients. Review for Kareem Restaurant - Anaheim, CA Kareem Restaurant in Anaheim has been serving the community for nearly 40 years. It's a true family-owned, family-oriented gem that has become a landmark for authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. I was fortunate to personally know the owner -- God bless his soul -- who left us far too soon. His passing was truly heartbreaking, but his legacy continues to live on through his family, who have proudly carried forward his vision and traditions. This restaurant is known around the world for its incredible food, especially their legendary falafel, which is so popular that even major retailers and wholesalers, including Costco, carry it. I live in the valley, and my job is in orange county. Whenever i have time for lunch i go to Kareem's restaurant. That place has by far the best food i have ever tasted. My friend told me about it so i went to try it out. When i first walked through the doors i was so amazed of how clean the restaurant was. The floors were sparkling and the walls were glistening. And what was even more beautiful was the lady at the window. She welcomed me with a smile, and made me feel at home. I told her it was my first time and she nicely went through the menu explaining what everything was. I decided to have the falafel plate. One bite was all it took to get me hooked, later she told me they won an award for their falafel which wasn't a suprise. this place is a must if you are in orange county. read more

Nevertheless, as I currently reside in LA near Beverly Hills (the birthplace of the Mediterranean cuisine), I am a huge fan of Mediterranean food. I think it was because 1. I was very hungry and it opens early. 2. I Like the falafel plate ( One of the Best in LA) I have a shawarma beef plate with hummus and it has been a real Mediterranean style plus falafel plus pita. My friend has falafel with hummus and he haven't had anything like that. It was very crunchy and good. It did taste little salty, but it was ok. Kareem means generous in Arabic. Generosity definitely can be seen through the portion sizes and the amount of love put into to dishes! I am pregnant and have been dreaming about the fatteh I could get in Lebanon and I knew it was impossible to find something close in California. But seriously, they have, hands down, THE best fatteh I have ever had in MY LIFE. I felt like I wanted to give whoever prepared it a huge hug after I devoured the bowl in complete silence. I also ordered the chicken combo which was also HUGE and DELICIOUS. Only suggestions are for the Baba Ghanouj...it was too watery and needed more tahini. Also they don't have TOOM for the chicken, so if you love that garlic sauce you will get bummed out. read more

We were looking at open houses in Anaheim, and when I searched about surrounding restaurants, I saw Kareem's place. There is a lot of parking available. Few guys were showing off their cars by accelerating and slamming the brakes in the parking lot very unsafe, and I was hoping the business owners would come out or call the police to report. We ordered plant-based fat kid, including five falafel pieces, hummus, fries, pickles, tahini sauce, and pita. Falafel was soft and delicious. And marinated grilled chicken with sides of spicy hummus, pickles. The chicken was very juicy and tender. I highly recommend both entrees. A lot of seating areas outside, but you need to clean tables yourself. read more

COCKAROACH IN A OUR FOOD! We found it as we were born packing our food to give to homeless guy standing outside. I can't begin to believe this place has 4 stars!!! They must have changed ownership or the owners don't care anymore. But this place looks like it's hit rock bottom!!! Food is horrible! service is beyond crap. Grumpy old lady working there. Too many good places to eat than this hell hole! COCKAROACH IM CALLING THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT! UPDATE AND THE OWNER JUST REACHED OUT TO ME TO CALL THEM!!! Kareem's is incredible! Hands down the best chicken plate and falafel we've ever had. The wraps are next level, and the tri hummus was fantastic (though we definitely could've used more of those addicting pita chips). One of the highlights was the falafel fries which was something we'd never tried before. Imagine a plate of fries loaded with all the fixings you'd usually find in a falafel wrap... it was unique and seriously delicious.
