It has been several years since I was last here. I was in the neighborhood and wanted a sandwich on a croissant, which sent me to La Bou. I walked in and was overwhelmed by the menu. There are three or more large ones hung up high, with TONS of busy colors, so it was hard to quickly sort through. The fellow behind the counter asked me what I wanted, and I didn't want to hold up the line, so I quickly asked him if they still made sandwiches on croissants. They did - phew! I ordered a sandwich to go, as I was in the midst of running errands and just needed a quick bite. Welp, that first bite was quite a surprise. There was a toothpick inside, laying FLAT IN the sandwich. It was embedded in the tuna. I just missed biting into that toothpick. That was NOT okay. I didn't finish the sandwich as I worried as to what else might be in there. I tossed it in a trash can outside of my next errand. Tonight I came to Yelp to update my review, and I was shocked to read the following: On April 8, 2026 (just a couple of WEEKS ago) Yelp reported that this La Bou had FIVE health code violations. All of this is quite enough for me. I won't be back, and I truly hope they improve their health standards, in addition to not placing toothpicks inside sandwiches. I won't be back. read more

Today at 10:37 my husband stopped in to get me a Chinese chicken salad when we got home and I opened my salad up. I was so disgusted I wanted to puke. I have pictures of absolute horrible chicken they was put on the salad. It looks like the chicken must've been very old. It was so bad that I ended up throwing away a large, very expensive salad. it was so unappetizing. I took pictures of the awful chicken. I will never stop there again. I have eaten this particular salad for years and ordered for many different Labou's. They were always great with nice white chunks of premium chicken. This was nasty old brown meat so disgusting. I don't recommend getting anything here and wasting your money. read more

I've been eating at La Bou for 25 years. Always loved their food. Something changed with the Spicy Thai soup and I'm super bummed. The last three times, the broth is very different. It's creamier, missing the cilantro and it used to have a little spicy oil floating on top. It also lack much substance; very little chicken and rice and no longer has sliced mushrooms. Bring back the original recipe please!! Last visit I also got a side house salad with dill dressing. I like my dressing on the thinner side but this time it was super watered down and lacked much flavor. read more

They stopped making their pastries on site. The quality is poor. The blueberry scones have little to no fruit. Changes to the physical restaurant did nothing positive and prices have skyrocketed. I was in Sacramento visiting my family, and Our daughter had surprised us with breakfast scones, and croissants. The arrived before 8:30am so all we had do start the coffee, & tea. No cooking today I had to rush off to the airport. I had a blueberry scone it was crispy on the corners like I like it, with many blueberries, and soft inside. I went in earlier, around 12:30 ,and ordered a small Chinese Chicken Salad to eat there. The young lady working the register has zero people skills. I have experienced her poor customer service in the past, as well. Many tables were in need of clearing and cleaning, so people were having a hard time finding a place to sit. No one cleared them while I was there. There were no forks available, and when I mentioned this...I was told they were working on it. I ended up using a plastic fork, and no one bothered to bring out clean forks the 20 min or so that I was there. My salad was just OK. I used to really enjoy LaBou.,.but it has gone downhill over the past several months. read more

What happened to Labou? They changed their menu which is hideous looking, and the food was almost unpalatable. One order was the Asian noodles. The noodles were gummy. It actually looked fake like a display model of the food they would use for advertisements. The roast beef sandwich was terrible. The bread was terrible and they forgot to add the cheese. Just really sad because it used to be a really nice place to go for lunch. But on a positive note, the staff was very friendly. read more

Ive been to basically every La Bou within 50 miles and this was the worst La Bou salad. The chicken is totally different (not the original ginger chicken) and they gave me basically ALL YELLOW LETTUCE. The bread tasted great however along with the La Bou coffee. I ordered a small Chinese chicken salad and the girl rang me up for a full salad. I told her and she refunded me the price and it didn't show the tax refunded. I pointed it out and she said well that is how it works. I asked for a discount on the small salad which she gave me. But she wasn't very nice about it. She was very snotty!! I have been to every La Bou in town for 40 years. Their Mango iced tea looked so light and weak and barely tasted like tea. I order food online through their site, which says the Folsom, CA location is open till 4:30pm, around 3:30 and was sent an order confirmation at 3:35pm. When I went to pick it up at 4, I was turned away by the staff saying they were closed and didn't even attempt to make the order. I asked for a refund and they told me to just cancel the order, so I showed them my email confirmation and that I was already charged for the food, as well as how it's says they should still be open on their site. They told me to come in tomorrow, a day they actually are listed as being closed, to get my order and laughed in my face... Not only does that not make any sense, but I ordered my food for today, not tomorrow or Tuesday (which is when it's says they should be back open). When I check the closing hours on the door, they looked scratch out and 4 was written in marker in place. I'm trying to get a refund, but the hours need updated online if they are not correct. Extremely frustrating and upsetting service. read more
