What a fantastic place to stop by and get solid breakfast. Small cafe, small business owner. We ordered the Greek omelette and chicken/spinach omelette which were fantastic. The more traditional breakfast offered fat pieces of bacons, perfectly cooked eggs and choice of French toast or custom pancakes. The pancakes are huge so beware. Big enough to share. Service is excellent with Karen hustling around. Highly recommend. read more

We were looking for a local breakfast place while staying in Rancho Mirage. This totally fit the bill. First, Karen herself is lovely. Warm, friendly, attentive. Second, the breakfast foods are spot on. The pancakes are huge and fluffy. My son had the chocolate chip. One is more than enough, unless you plan to share. My other son had the French toast with strawberries and whipped cream and devoured them. I had the Belgian waffle which I also devoured. I also had an iced coffee which was very good. It was brewed to be iced coffee (not hot coffee poured over ice and diluted). If you are in the area, definitely hit up Karen's. read more

Delicious food and wonderful service by the two ladies that worked there. Very attentive and friendly even when it got busy. The prices are great for the generous portions. I love the mom and pop feel and will be definitely be returning when back in town. I had the eggs over a full order of biscuits and gravy. The do not skip out on the gravy. Karen's was the best breakfast spot of our trip. We went twice. The food is great with a good portion size. The service is even better. Nora makes you feel welcomed and I just love her story. The cafe is a small and quaint place. The second visit I had the blueberry pancake which was delicious. Good size for one! If you are in Palm Desert you must go by Karen's Cafe. It is not out in the open but easy to find with your GPS and is worth the find! :-) read more

The Chef welcomes guests, who may have has a small challenge finding this little jewel. Nora greets guests with an enthusiastic welcome: "Hunny Bunny!" Nora makes you feel special. The service is old style, but the food, is excellent. She and her daughter, Janelle, serve breakfast and lunch, Jose is an amazing cook, and Nora's husband, Eddie, attends to lots of chores. The food is wonderful; My fav salad is Nora's Nutty; filled with lots of nuts, and topped with crushed nuts. Her veggies are fresh and tasty. The coffee is good as well. I've been back twice since my first review, I think things have gone worse at this place. I don't know who's running the show here with the quality of service. I just the whole presentation, is lacking professional. Coffee is still mediocre at best, portions are tiny or over cooked. The point of sale system is so antiquated. Old school diner gem tucked away in a business park off Country Club, Karen's Cafe delivers on basic, hearty diner fare in a comfy setting. All the ladies that work here are super nice and service oriented. This is the place where you are referred to as 'honey bunny" or "lovey" when your order is taken. Lots of burgers, sandwiches and salads to choose from, for lunch, all good! Next time we'll hit them up for breakfast. Oh and they use those small crushed ice cubes for your sodas- so good! read more

No way this place has a true 4 1/2 rating. Food was below average. They are "known" for their breakfast and they made both dishes incorrectly. Then the older lady, possibly the owner, claimed that she had told us that they were missing an ingredient. We told her we would remembered if she had said they don't have mushrooms if we were both ordering it. She could have said sorry I didn't communicate that with you. She was very rude. Food was bland. We had to add spicy sauce to make it edible. The table and chair were dirty when we got seated. There was hair on the chair and sauce on the table. I should have said something but didn't. Also, when she grabbed the plate from the back to bring it out, she wiped something off the plate with her finger. So there were a lot of warning signs of the level of restaurant this was. It's a small operation. With a dozen tables and some small area of outdoor seating. The food is consistent and prices are fair. Karen loves to call everyone hunny bunny. We enjoyed all of the food that we ate, and especially enjoyed the outdoor welcome reception that our conference hosted. It was such a beautiful backdrop, and well managed with great bar service and food options. We also enjoyed the adult pool area, and it was very convenient that it was just steps from our hotel room. Our room was a bit dated, but worked just fine for us. The bathroom was quite large, and easily accommodated multiple guests in one room. Beds were comfortable. The biggest issue we ran into was the power in our room didn't work all the time we called in maintenance, they fixed it, but then it broke again the next day it caused a fair amount of frustration, but the staff really worked hard to get it resolved. We enjoyed long walks around the golf course each morning, the coffee shop, the restaurants, and the ease of parking. We also saw a prom being hosted there and a wedding. The staff was friendly, and overall it was a great hotel for a conference!

The employees at the front desk were polite and trying their best, so this is not directed at them, but the communication and management responsiveness really need improvement. After traveling all day, it was frustrating sitting in the lobby with no clear updates or help. Then after finally getting into the room, I went to take a shower and the shower hose had been pointed straight outward. The second I turned the water on, it sprayed directly into my face and all over the bathroom floor. When I turned the water back toward the shower, I noticed there was already a towel sitting inside the shower completely drenched, which honestly made the whole room feel like it hadn't been properly checked or prepared before guests arrived. The property itself is beautiful, but the overall experience definitely did not match the level of service I expect from a Marriott property.
