I recently came here for the first and now understand all the wonderful reviews. First of all, the bakery is gorgeous inside and out! When you walk in, you're greeted by the kind workers. not the kindest people to order from since there's almost no emphasis on customer service. i've had to call three times to get the status of my order... all that being said, the pastries are fairly priced and good. if you're local, it may be worth it but we've only come here for the unique cakes they have & i'm sure if we did more research, we'd be able to find something more comparable! read more

Every time I'm in Glendale, I usually make a stop to Karina's to pick up some slices of cake to bring back home. Karina's has been one of my favorite bakeries for good yet affordable cakes. They had closed down for quite some time while they were remodeling, but they opened back up in a new location that looked much more glamours compared to their old storefront. There's a small parking lot right in front of the store, but I usually park on the street and walk in. They have a little ticket system that allows you to get a number (which is used when the bakery gets super busy), but lately they've just been helping the customers as they enter the store. So I had tried the bakery with my friend back in 2017 and we were amazed by the cakes and the cheap prices. We came back right after they remodeled, and my friend felt that the quality was no longer there. Price was still cheap, but the cakes weren't as tasty. I came back several more times over the years and found that each time, the cakes have gotten a little less tasty but a little more expensive. Raising the price is fine, especially when the price of groceries and just about everything else is increasing, but I would hope that the quality and taste would still be the same - unfortunately, not the case. This last time that I visited, I ordered about 6-7 slices of cakes. Each cake was around $3. They still looked pretty amazing, but once my family dug into the cakes, we were left a little underwhelmed. Not sure if it was just for that day, but the bird's milk cake - which is normally my favorite - was super dry and didn't have that sweet, melt in your mouth taste that I remember associating with this cake when I had first tried it. I actually got two of these, so this was a bit disappointing. I also got the chocolate cake, Kutuzov, and mocha. These were on the drier side, but not bad. However, saving the cakes for the next day, the texture became drier and no longer flavorful. Tiramisu and the French napoleon were still pretty standard. For $3, price isn't bad, but just knowing that the taste is no longer as good as I remember makes me want to no longer visit. And like some other reviewers have mentioned, the workers are not the friendliest. Definitely feel like they talk about the customers, but I'm usually in and out of the bakery in under ten minutes. Don't think this will be my go-to bakery when I'm in Glendale anymore. Would be down to visit again, but not anytime soon. read more

I ordered this cake for my moms 75th birthday and she loved it! All the guest were asking where we got the cake! I sent them my design and they did an amazing job copying it! I ordered the fake flowers from amazon and they were so nice to put it on the cake for me. It was an hour and twenty minute drive from where we live but it was worth it! Haven't been here for years ... probably over 5 years. The store have been updated. It now looks bright and clean. The ladies behind the counter were nice and was patient with me while I describe what I'm looking for. I ended up get the kievski and meringue cookies. Both were so good! The meringue cookies were light, not too sweet, and has a nut filling. Wish I got more! The kievski cake was a hit at the party. It still tastes so good. My sister and I was trying to remember what's different with it - can't figure it out. Regardless it's still so yummy. It seems like they have more parking. Just follow the signs. read more

I wish this place wasn't so far from me or I could go more often. Then again that might be a good thing bc then my clothes would stop fitting me. I really enjoy the pastries here especially the meringue cookie. It's not overly sweet and it's so light and flavorful. I've taken them to parties and it's always been a hit. This would be my 2nd time visiting Karina's and both times, it wasn't busy and I was helped immediately. These are the pastries I tried, rating from most favorite first: (I have a sweet tooth btw) 1. Almond cookie 2. Birds milk 3. Beze / merengue cookie 4. Honey cake slice 5. Ideal slice 6. Yojik vanilla pastry 7. Yojik chocolate pastry Almond cookie reminds me of an enlarge macaron without any airy-ness to it. It had the same density as what a macaron cookie had tho and the filling is sweet and complimentary. Birds milk was what brought me to the bakery in the first place when I tried a slice from a birthday celebration. This is something I think about often! Must get! The story is also fun if you search up why the desert has such a name Beze crumbles very easily and is the sweetest of them all, I'd say! I think the filling might be the same as the almond cookie too. The honey cake slice sort of resembles a tiramisu cake. The yojik pastries are also very crumbly. It had two layers of cream, like a cake does. The pastry is in a fun dome shape and powdered, it seems. Not too sweet and not moist. Parking: it can be a little tough but there are 3-4 spots in front of the bakery and more facing to the left of the bakery if you drive further in. Service: If there's more than 1 person, do get a ticket to get served! read more

If you're looking for Kievsky cakes, this is the place for you. They recently remodeled a couple years ago - the store looks so beautiful and clean. I've been going here for ages every year for my husband's/best friend's birthday. They specialize in Kyiv/Keiv (Kievsky) cakes that is light and airy with a crunchy nutty meringue layer (I prefer the one with nuts). The front only allows for 2-3 cars; but they've expanded a few more spots in the back (that is quite difficult to get in and out of). From the storefront to the cake designs, everything here screams out ELEGANCE. The beautiful ladies working here are Armenian/Russian/Ukrainian background, so do not expect a smile/friendly attitude - but they were quite humble when I complimented all their cake designs. Definitely try if you've never had this cake before, life changer (it's my husbands and best friend's favorite kind of cake). read more

My friend recommended me to check out this place, because he was very happy with his own wedding cake. So I came once and bought peanut butter cookies, and it was good. I came back again to order a customized B-Cake for my son. Well~~ I don't know why but it was pretty lengthy to order the cake. It was my first time for ordering the cake. However, the service woman was kept sighed. NEway, that long conversation was done and I paid half price and need to come back one week later. One week later, I came all the way from the Orange County area ( where I work and live) through 2 hours of driving on the freeway. The customized came out really well( see picture). I paid the other half of money($120 total) for my son's customized B-Cake. Nonetheless, ..... I left this Bakery with several questions 1) why there is no cake box/ cover for this size B-day Cake??? When I order the cake at the beginning, did you know that there will be no Cake box for takeout?? I had to takeout this cake that exposed to air and dust at outside. After my son blew up the candle, I had to cut/scraped out all colors in order to eat the chocolate cake in inside. 2) why did you take the receipt away from my hand? When I came to order the cake 1st time, I paid with my credit card. It was stapled with the Karina's Cake House receipt. When I came back to pick that up, the service woman snatched the receipt from my hand. I've heard about Karina's for a long time now but never actually went to their bakery. So one day, I decided to try their bird's milk cake among other things. Big mistake....because now I am addicted to it. One thing that I noticed about their cakes is that they're not sweet. They have the perfect balance of flavor and texture. I have tried their chocolate cake, fruit tart, baklava, opera cake and ALL of them are good. I'm now a Karina's convert! I always recommend these to my friends. Hi, they did some renovations in their shop which I don't know if it affects their prices. It is wiser to call them at (818) 240-6718 so you can have accurate figures. Haven't been back since they renovated few months ago.

Are they open again? I know they were under construction until August 27th. I tried to call but it goes to voicemail.

No as of yesterday October 1st, my mum and dad went there to order a cake for my baby shower and the place is still shut down and under renovation, no word on when it will be done. I'm so bummed.

I sent the picture to Shivon and she sounded like she was going to have a heart attack! She profusely apologized and told me she was going to make this better. She went overboard!! I supposed knowing that there were 3 birthday people she made 3 separate different flavored small round cakes (not that little I might add!), a dozen cupcakes . I am not a fan of sweets; but, all of the cakes and cupcakes I tasted were excellent! And yes, per the menu very expensive- but for the quality, so worth it. I wish I had taken pictures of the cakes she sent. But, we were rushing around so much by that time, I couldn't. The driver however took pictures. So, if Shivon can get them up on this post, you will be able to see what I mean by going overboard! Shivon is more than just a salesperson she is a very sincere and empathetic person. We will definitely be back. The only reason why I gave 4 stars is that the delivery person should have contacted Shivon as soon as it was known that the cake was ruined so she could have started on a new cake, or at least prepared Shivon for a situation that she would not have had to freak out on! I was a customer for the establishment for 16 years. I got my wedding cake, my baby shower cake, my sister's baby shower cake, her wedding shower cake, and my daughter's baptism cake from this location. The baptism cake was, and will be, my last purchase from this store. I went 4 weeks before the baptism to pre-order the cake. I looked through the pictures they provided on their iPads. I picked a cake for 25 people with a total purchase price of $85.00. This means, I am paying $3.40 per slice, and I am picking it up (no delivery). I specifically tell the lady what I wanted by showing her the picture from the store's iPad. She writes it down, I pay for it, and advise I will be in at 11:00 am to pick up the cake before I head out to church. I arrive the day of the baptism to pick up the cake at 11:00 am, and everything is wrong. The cross that was supposed to be STANDING on top of the cake was flat. The flowers that were supposed to be in FRONT of the cross were in the back. The writing of my daughters name was supposed to be on the BASE of the cake was on top of the cake. It looked messy, as if they threw something together last minute, and didn't look at the description of what we wanted. Instead of the manager apologizing and trying to make the situation better, she say, "It looks better this way." First of all, as a consumer, that is what I WANT, not what YOU WANT. Second, OWN UP TO YOUR MISTAKE AND TRY TO MAKE THE SITUATION BETTER! She made $85 dollars from me for a very horrible cake, but what she doesn't understand is that she lost hundreds of dollars, because she wanted to save a couple bucks. Had she said, "let me give you a discount, or how about you go to church and we will fix the problem and deliver it for you." She would have kept me as a customer for life, and I would have returned and continued to spend my money there. Now, I am happily spending my money with their competitors, and the quality and customer service is SO MUCH BETTER! With thorough and delightful service, Karinas Cake House has done it again with their amazing pastries. Every time there arises an occasion, it becomes another excuse to stock up on sweets from Karinas. Karina's Cake House has become a household favorite and is a the evident winner every time there is a birthday, wedding or even just a get together. They seem to have a beat of their own compared to other places I have gone to, with a pride in their products you know what you are getting is the best. Downside, there is always a line which is natural with the best restaurants, cafes, and even bakeries. The parking is limited, but as they say, " The thrill is in the journey." With every experience, it tastes that much better! I take their cakes as gifts to gathering or at events and see people go crazy for it and know it by name. The Minute you walk in to the store, they look at you as if your at fault for them working there! I have been ordering my cakes from Karina's for as long as I remember. As a matter of fact, my wedding cake was made by Karina over 13yrs ago. Today I picked up a cake for my daughters 8th Birthday. Cake was picked up at 3:30pm and because we had a party we left the cake out of the refrigerator till we cut it about 4hrs later. The cake was completely frozennnnn!!!! That is absolutely ridiculous!!!!!! Basically this cake was made god knows when and put in the freezer till today. Wtffffff. Absolutely not acceptable. I couldn't figure out what decoration to get on it and their employee Sandra politely helped me resolve that issue!!! I have used Karina's a few times now and they never disappoint. Exceptional service and quality confections. Their store belongs on Rodeo Drive. Sona was very assuring with our order for a small wedding and all went extremely well all the way through to the delivery. We supplied fresh flowers and a reference image for the type of look we were going for on this large 14" cake, but Arus (sp?), far surpassed our expectations. When the desserts finally arrived, we realized that the macarons and roses decorating the desserts were bright pink, completely different from the blush pink that was specifically requested. My sister initially tried to let it go because we had an entire event to worry about, but after a few hours she decided to call and calmly explain what happened. She wasn't calling to argue, she simply wanted to see what could be done and have the mistake acknowledged. Unfortunately, the owner's response was more upsetting than the mistake itself. Instead of simply apologizing, she became defensive and said that sometimes certain flowers aren't "in season," which supposedly could explain the darker color. My sister then asked how that explained the bright pink macarons, and the conversation became incredibly rude. While my sister was speaking calmly, the owner interrupted her with, "Hold up, don't yell at me," in a very disrespectful tone when she was not yelling at her. At that point, all we were trying to explain was that a simple apology and acknowledgment that the order did not match what was requested would have been enough. Instead, the conversation continued with attitude, and when I got on the phone and told her that treating repeat customers this way had just lost her a lot of business, she hung up on me. Mistakes happen. A shade of pink being wrong would not have caused us to stop supporting a business we had ordered from repeatedly. The way the owner handled the mistake is why we will not be returning. There was no reason for a simple, reasonable complaint to be met with defensiveness and hanging up on a customer. After seeing how the owner has responded to other customers who have shared negative experiences, unfortunately our interaction makes a lot more sense. Customer service matters just as much as the product, especially when people are trusting you with orders for important events.

This tells me they don't make everything fresh daily. Other reviews confirm the same thing . They sell old disgusting products. The only thing that is still good is their Napoleon, which is their signature item. Basically never stays. Whatever else I've had recently has been really unpleasant and old. I recently had their blueberry pie - uncooked inside , very artificially flavored. Not good at all. They also charge extra for using your card and don't even let you know. It's pure robbery ! They need to be reported to CFPB! They get 2 star - only for their Napoleon. otherwise 1 star
