Jessica is the sweetest woman, and I feel like she really cares about my nail health. She gives great advice about specific oils that would be best for my skin without pushing a specific product. The owner is flexible, and understanding, and patient with all his customers - and I unfortunately witnessed a customer being so rude to him, and he not only handled it with professionalism - but he ensured that she only spoke with him and did not allow her to speak this way to his employees. How could I have not gone here in the last 8 years? I have passed this place for years whenever in NJ. I finally decided to give it a try. I indulged in the Milk and Honey Pedicure and Rosemary Mint manicure. It exceeded my expectations. Super friendly staff and wonderful owner made me feel like I have been coming for years. I had such high hopes, but this pace was merely mediocre. I love that there were no spa chairs, you sit in a regular arm chair. I was astounded to see the chair was horribly dirty. The woman who started my pedi left in the middle to take another client, and the woman who replaced her was not as attentive. They don't use sinks for your feet, but rather a large bucket. I kept inadvertently pushing it with my feet and was worried I'd push it off the edge. Use of the callouss remover was merely ceremonial, such a shame. After my pedi I got a mani. Again, use of the cuticle pusher was ceremonial, it barely touched my nails. Twice I had to ask the woman to look at my nails with large (enormous) flecks of nail debris in the polish. She ultimately told me, ""That's your nail", and yes it was, because she filed it in such a way that a large part was sticking up. As soon as she filed it down, it looked fine. But don't tell me this is my problem when you created it and it was easily fixable. I sat and dried, got up and left. No one told me to have a nice day, even as I walked out and said it to the receptionist who couldn't be bothered with the slightest polite response. The decor, when new, was probably lovely and clean. It has not been maintained- the glass tops for the tables are cracked and repaired with tape. The wrist rest is a bundle of paper wrapped in packing tape, it was insultingly un-nice. The white chairs were very dirty, had smears of nail polish on them. The glass on the tables was all very scratched. I will not be back. read more

After coming here for a manicure and pedicure - the technician who was working with me just came off of her lunch break and rushed through my entire procedure. She spent most of the time chatting and disrupting the other technicians. I was also rushed out so quickly that many women who came before me were still receiving their treatments while I was being escorted out of me seat. I decided to give this place another try (but not for a mani/pedi) but rather a facial! I arrived 10 minutes early to have time to sit and be escorted into the treatment room. However, when I arrived, the woman who was supposed to do my facials was working with another client on a mani/pedi. I ended up waiting an extra 25 minutes!! With no apologies or rush from any of the employees or owner there. My hour long facial was cut to 50 minutes to accommodate the clients scheduled after. I was still charged the full $120 (and I still tipped because the technician did a fabulous job!). But I would certainly not go back to this spa again for any of the listed treatments. I tried Karma after walking past it on several occasions and noticing the wonderful fragrance coming out the door. I am on day 4 of a perfect manicure that has yet to chip once. The staff was accomodating, friendly and didn't rush me in or out, despite a party that was being held there towards the end of my appointment. Making the appointment was quite difficult- the person who answered the phone did not speak English and it took almost 10 minutes for us to get on the same page- but the pedicure was worth it. The owner chatted with us and overall made a great impression on me. The quality of the products are top notch, and everything was quite sanitary. I have always gone to cheapie pedicure places, but this was worth my $40. They spent a full hour from beginning to end of the pedicure and I was very pleased with the service. Love it here. Been coming here for 5 years now. Started coming when I was pregnant and never stopped. Not your typical nail salon. Nail polish remover has no potent acetone, nail polishes are made by them and are as chemical free as nail polish can be. No acrylic nails done here. When you walk in, it smells of lavender and essential oils rather then chemicals. It is very kid friendly, definitely a place for moms to bring there daughters. Staff is so nice and so is the owner. They try to accommodate as much as possible. Ever since I've been coming here I haven't been able to step foot into another nail salon. read more

Just walked out in the middle of a pedicure. At the same time the nail tech was doing my pedi, she was answering the cordless phone (which rang every couple minutes) and booking appointments. Two nail techs-in-training stood behind her staring at me. Then she broke skin with the pumice and I began to bleed. The last thing I heard when I walked out was her in the back room laughing. Being pregnant, I was really excited for a nice manicure and pedicure but unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed and left really upset. I have come here multiple times and the manicure pedicure was okay and service is mediocre, borderline rude, but I really liked the fact that it doesn't smell like chemicals and uses removable foot baths that get washed after each use. After my mediocre pedicure, I proceeded to get a manicure. I asked my tech to not cut my cuticles and although he didn't, he pushed them back so hard that he made me bleed. He proceeded to not apologize and just put liquid antiseptic on, without even asking if that was okay. I, as I'm sure anyone, hate being cut at the nail salon, let alone while I am pregnant. I continued to the sink to wash my hands and my finger started bleeding profusely. I told the tech that I was not comfortable proceeding with the manicure being that I was bleeding and instead of apologizing, said "well you were cut and washed the antiseptic off when you washed your hands, do you want more?" Is this for real? You cut me!! I waited for my mom to finish, paid ( full price might I add) and left. He, never apologized and I still left him a $5 tip for his shitty and painful service. I left stressed out and paranoid about catching something. I have literally never left a review for anything but felt so disgusted by this overpriced, stressful experience that I felt the need to share. I will NEVER step foot in this place again and I will make sure to spread the word about my experience. Shame on him and this salon. read more

My cousin hosted my baby shower at this venue. I love that their nail polishes are all organic and safe to use for pregnant women! There is no nasty nail polish smell inside, which I love! Nas was helpful and let us close down the whole spa for our party for 3 hours. We were able to decorate the venue and get mani/pedis for all the guests. We also brought food from outside and a cake. It was a great time. Only downside was that Nas changed the pricing on my cousin and my mom (the hosts) at the last minute which caused some stress. Also the spa is quite small but I liked that it was very cozy and intimate. My guestlist had to be reduced to accommodate everyone so I could only have about 30 people. Overall it was a very memorable event that I was very happy with. read more

Idk...I was SOOOO looking forward to this place. I am into the whole holistic/organic scene so I wanted to check out their polishes/scents, etc. They have been written up in every mag so I figured, it has to be good. It's in the cute town of Ridgewood across from Whole Foods so that's a plus. Parking can be hairy so I parked in the train station lot. The place itself is tiny and I guess "spa" is a term that they use loosely. I was barely greeted by reception and was not offered anything to drink. It was 100 degrees outside and it was barely cool inside so the a/c is hurting. The pedicure stations are four separate armchairs; there are no sinks, you place your feet in a large "bucket" style thing. I'm ok with that, provided they clean them behind the scenes afterwards. The pedicure itself was just ok; the technician said hello and then proceeded to talk to her coworkers in spanish for the next twenty min or so. I paid $30 for the lemon pedi; it was just H2O with a couple lemon slices in it. Big deal. She massaged my feet nicely; but she half-heartedly used the callus scraper; I still have dry, cracked heels. She did my mani as well; again so conversation. She didn't trim my cuticles, just pushed them back. The mani looks good but the pedi is blah. Idk why but the polish on my toes looks thin and she didn't do a great job of getting the edges of my toes. The place itself can use some cleaning up. There are boxes piled all over the place and it looks kind of unkept at the moment. There is a tiny room where you get waxes, massages, etc. Very basic. The technicians seemed cranky; they were complaining to each other in Spanish that there were late appts coming in and they would be closing soon. How anyone can describe this place as "luxurious" is beyond me. It was $50 for a mani/pedi (plus I left a $10 tip) but totally not worth the price. I def learned my lesson with this one! read more

Not impressed with the pedicure. Experience was like my girlfriend doing my pedi at home in a basin. No message chair. Plain basin, no bubbly water. Got my pedi three days ago and it's already chipping. I can burn a candle at home or pick some Rosemary to enjoy the aromas; as far as the pedi, it's overpriced and sub-par. I found the owner to be petty and unfriendly. I called at 730 on a Friday to make an appt for the next day. He answered the phone and said "you know we are closed now, don't you"? Well he didn't have to answer! I made the appt. Tthe next day I called and asked if I could come in an hour later and he said he are booked solid you know...well oh, ok. When I got there they were busy but we're taking walk ins. I wouldn't go back. read more

I went this week for basic manicure, pedicure. It was a very relaxing experience. The minute you walk in the door, place smells sooooo good. Instead of smelling all chemicals other salon use, it smells like botanical garden. The employees are very polite and friendly, making you feel comfortable. All their products are organic. I purchased a nail polish, face wash, scrub and lotion which the owner prepared for me right on premises a week before my treatment. I have been using it for a 10 days now and see a big difference on my skin. I highly recommend this place to all my friends. The owner and his wife are sweet hearts! THANK YOU!! read more

I brought my 9 year old daughter here and she was so excited to get her second ever manicure/pedicure! Upon entering it reeked like chemicals. I nearly turned around and headed back out the door. I wish I had followed my instincts! We had a reservation for 2 mani/pedis. I told the man and woman at the check in desk that I had a just developed an open painful blister on my foot from a new pair of shoes and did not feel comfortable getting my scheduled pedicure. My daughter was going to have a mani/pedi and I was going to have a manicure. The woman at the desk got very angry and demanded I take off both of my shoes so she could decide. She said she was a nurse, (working in a nail place?) I showed her my cut/wound and she said she thought it was fine and I would be receiving the pedicure. I said "No, with this wound it is not sanitary for me or your customers." She kept telling me I had to receive a pedicure! This argument went on for a good minute and she walked away demanding I receive a pedicure. it was really unbelievable. If my daughter hadn't been looking forward to this appointment for two weeks I would have turned and left. We stayed. Mistake number 2. Unfortunately this same woman took my daughter in for the princess mani/pedi. It was described as a hand/foot soak, with nail filing and polish. The woman called me over and proceeded to tell me that my daughter's cuticles needed to be cut. She had already started cutting them! My daughter bites her nails and some of the skin on the fingers was open. Again, I did not think this was sanitary for my daughter. I told the woman to stop cutting and only push the cuticles back. She kept cutting them and telling me she decided they needed to be cut. I said to stop. She kept cutting them! The third time I had to raise my voice and get close to her face and I said "stop cutting my daughter's cuticles". She kept talking over me and finally stopped cutting. After a few minutes of standing over my daughter I walked away to get my manicure. My daughter told me that after I turned my back the woman started cutting all of her cuticles again! This woman is bonafide crazy. Needless to say we will never be back. I am happy to speak to an owner of Karma nails if she/he reads this review. read more

Fantastic place to get your nails done! No harsh chemical smell, never over crowed because it's pretty much appointment only. Lovely group of employees. I've seen some complains about some of the technicians but I've never had a problem with any of them. I did fall in love with one of them though, her name is Debra and she is the BEST nail stylist I've ever had. I used to get my nails done in the city since I work there, let me tell you Debra does a better job than my lady in the city for half the price. A mani/pedi with her lasts almost 90 minutes, she is extremely detail oriented. read more

Went recently for a mani/pedi after receiving a gift card. They were able to squeeze me in after a few cancelled appointments on a busy Friday afternoon so I was quite pleased. They use all organic products which are wonderful and smell amazing. The pedicure was terrific and the massage and salt scrub were awesome. A little pricey but definitely worth it if you want to treat yourself and use organic products. The owner was walking around, very social and friendly. Would recommend it! read more

Livid. This place has set me over the edge to write this review because the worst is when nail salons pull this sort of thing.. I made an appt on june 12th (the first time i tried this place) and made it for the today specifically (7/14) since im in a wedding tomorrow and i did enjoy my experience there in a fume free environment sonce im 33 weeks pregnant. I made my appt for 4:30-when i get out of work- and arrive to be told they couldnt take me because my appt was at 4pm and they were booked. I never would have made a 4pm appt, and explained this to them and the fact that i made the appt over a month ago.. They didnt care. Let me also mention that the last time i went i had a 10am appt. arrived promptly to wait 30minutes. So its ok for them to run late iguess but when they mess up on the appt time its my fault and i suffer. Its really a shame because i love the idea of this place, but now i just arrived to a nail salon that could squeeze me in without an appt and wanted to share my unfortunate experience with this salon. Dont go here if you have plans because they arent reliable. Ps ive never wrote a negative review before of a place, thats how upset i am! read more

This was my first time here and I would say it was a little frustrating overall. Three stars because I had an early AM appointment for a mani/pedi and all of the staff was late that morning so my apt started 30 mins late by the time they set everything up. I wasn't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal although no one acknowledged it with an apology. I was asked three times by three different people what services I booked for. Since it was my first time there I wasn't familiar with the setup and was expecting someone to show me where I needed to be but since they didn't know what I was even there for I had to pretty much assist myself around the salon. The woman who did my nails was very nice and did a great job though. I'm hoping that it happened to just be a chaotic morning for them. I'll be trying it again because they did good work and the place looked clean, but will only be booking one service next time instead of two. read more
