They were pretty busy for the time of day, 5:30 pm. I wanted ramen on this rainy day. Their ramen prices are good starting at $10. I got the second one listed, with pork slices, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots and creamy pork broth. The noodles were perfectly chewy and fresh but the broth, while rich and creamy, lacked meaty taste ramen needs. The only bites I truly enjoyed were with pieces of pork, of which about 4-5 came in my bowl. If I hadn't checked in and gotten a free order of edamame, with awesome garlic salt, I would have left unsatisfied. It's a nice looking restaurant but service was a bit slow. The waitress was also nice. The menu is vast with creatively named rolls but sushi prices are high I thought; for instance $8.50 for a popcorn shrimp roll and $15 for a 4-piece scallop roll. Then again I haven't tasted the quality of the fish. They only have Happy Hour drink specials. Not sure if they validate for building parking because they didn't ask. With other Japanese or Japanese/Korean restaurants in the area, I don't see myself coming here again soon. read more

Came here with a few co-workers and it did not disappoint! We originally wanted to hit up a ramen spot, but this location has quite an extensive menu and we picked from the lunch menu which gives you lunch set options. The nigiri set comes with 10 pieces of sushi/sashimi and a mini bowl of ramen that is not so mini. You can also upgrade the ramen to spicy ramen for just $.50. One of my co-workers does not eat pork, so she opted for the chicken ramen which she absolutely loved. I ordered the Pork Katsu and hot soba noodles as well as a Spicy Tuna hand roll. Everything was delicious and everyone was super happy. Our server was also really awesome and helpful. He made sure we knew all of the options and recommended popular items. I usually order only one main thing here which is their 'Trust Me Nigiri Special'. I think it's worth it if you eat it for lunch because I believe it is cheaper during lunch hours and they do have happy hour for alcohol too. The service here is pretty decent and the workers seem very friendly. The chefs also are very hard working as well. If you come for lunch they have a ramen/udon combo with the 'Trust Me Nigiri Special' which is the bang for your buck honestly. It gets me super full and satisfied. Their garlic fried rice is good too if you're wanting something to fill you up on the side. AYCE sushi for $32.95. Enough said! I wish I had this back in the Bay Area. I would be back every week. The menu is insane! You can order anything from sashimi, nigiri, hand rolls, special rolls, udon, ramen and and huge selection of appetizers. The list goes on you definitely get your bang for the buck! The quality of the sashimi is fresh and we had rolls after rolls. We were in sushi heaven and I had just enough room for a bowl of spicy tonkatsu ramen which came in the most perfect personal size. Outside of the AYCE menu, they also have a great selection of all your Japanese favorites. Pull up a seat next to the sushi bar and dig in! I popped in for lunch recently. Not sure about the parking sitch because I walked across the street from my office, but it is right next to the purple line subway stop. My coworker and I received a friendly greeting and were promptly seated at the sushi bar. I'm avoiding rice so went with an albacore salad, but splurged for some yellowtail nigiri as well. Received our food in under 10 minutes despite it being peak lunch time. My salad had fresh albacore, avocado, lettuce, radish, carrots, bell pepper and sprouts. Everything tasted super fresh and the dressing was tip top, a bit on the sweet side but a fine complement. The nigiri was top notch as well - rice was super moist and the fish was incredibly tender and flavorful. I skipped the beer but they have some lunch specials for the day drinkers. Prices were very reasonable all around. There's no shortage of sushi/ramen options in the vicinity, but Kashira is going on my sushi speed dial from now on. I came across Kashira towards the end of my daily afternoon walk in the neighborhood. I had been wanting sushi for some time now, especially given the current crisis. I was happy to see that Kashira was open and the menu was for the most part ok. They did not have any Japanese fish like snapper due to the current climate but I was able to order some salmon, negitoro, salmon skin handroll, ikura, and also two bottles of sake (new temporary LA ordinance now allows alcohol to be included in to go orders). During my talk with the chef and the host, I discovered that they are both from the Bay Area, which is where I just came from having lived there for the past six years. I'd say Kashiri is fine and the service that was given to me, again the first time I patronized the restaurant, was good. We decided to check this place out since it was right across the street from where we were watching a show. Looked like it had potential - decor was nice, menu looked good. They have AYCE menu and a la carte menu. We decided to do AYCE since some of the rolls were already $15 each. We did our first round and everything was fine. When we were ready to order our second round, my friend wanted to get a third order from the "special choice" section since you can pick 3 from the 9 options. But apparently, what wasn't explained to us, you have to order all three in the first round. So when my friend was trying to explain she hadn't ordered the third one, the server was getting visibly frustrated and upset trying to explain it to us. It would've been nice if they explained that to us in the beginning. We placed our order for the second round and forty minutes later - yes, forty - we still didn't have our food. They brought our ordering sheet back and asked if we really didn't get our order yet. Then they said they "put it in now". Our food finally arrived and another server was clearing our other plates. We had two pieces of sushi rolls left on the plates and as the plates were being cleared, the other female server said something to the guy in another language. He then placed the plates back on the table and said that we would be charged if we didn't finish everything. WERE THEY SERIOUS?? They were late getting us our second round and had the nerve to say they were going to charge us if we didn't finish two pieces out of all the plates we ordered?! RIDICULOUS. I went with the AYCE (all you can eat sushi dinner) $32.95, but I can eat a lot of sushi, even when I'm not hungry, which was the case today. This is my friend's go to spot in the area and he frequents the place all the time. He got a really nice combo of 25 or so pieces of sashimi served with a fish carcass. You might be thinking wtf, a fish carcass!!?? Yes, but after you finish your sashimi, they take the fish carcass and make a WONDERFUL soup. Wow, what a surprise. I wasn't hungry coming in as I had a ton of ramen a few hours earlier, but liquid courage is all I need to go for a AYCE bufffet and that is what I did. Anyway, after pounding a ridiculous amount of sushi of all varieties, my friend made me try the soup and it was really good. If I'm in town and I go back, that is what I'm going to get. I think they have hh, but I went later at night and was going for AYCE, so I didn't have any room for drinks. The chefs were super friendly. I'm a regular here and this restaurant is actually pretty good from a food standpoint. I didn't feel compelled to write a review for this restaurant until now. The Good: -Decent quality fish -Reasonable prices The Bad: -Service is ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS! I'm not going to mention them by name but there is an older lady server and a male server that tries to make it sound like they are giving you complimentary side dishes but DO NOT take it. They will charge you for every dime. They charged us for real wasabi when they said they were going to give it to us for free. -Under cooked Pork: Ordered the Pork Cutlet Katsu and came out medium rare. I complained that they under cooked the pork and this older lady server took the dish back. 5 minutes later, she brings it back and tells me that there is no problem and that the pork is cooked. I could see the steam coming off the pork which meant that they cooked it in the back. Long story short, she keeps denying the fact and only when I complain to the manager she admits that they cooked it when she took it back. I HATE LIARS! Overall: Service makes all the difference in the world. I would keep coming here but the way they handled this situation led me to the 1 star. You know they're serious about their food when you find the menu posted on the bathroom walls. No joke, though. Kashira is legit. My friend and I came here on New Year's day 2017 and this is my first Yelp review of 2017! Best sushi I've had in socal. I've posted several pictures of the menu as well as the lunch special. My wonderful meal included the Nigiri Trust Me Special and a mini Kyushu Tonkatsu ramen plus an extra order of uni nigiri and wagyu beef nigiri (I split these last two with my friend!). The portion sizes were reasonable, with only a moderate amount of rice per nigiri; the mini-ramen was the perfect size! The chashu (piece of pork) was generously sliced. They also include a fried shrimp head in addition to the amaebi (sweet shrimp). Also, I saw how big the regular ramen size is (see uploaded picture) -- it's huge! Not only was the fish undeniably fresh, I was also pleasantly surprised by the prices! The restaurant seems to also specialize in aburi (seared) sushi. I got a sneak peak of the sushi chef using the blowtorch when he used it on the wagyu, and I'm so excited to come back to try it! Service was a little slow, but the bright side is that there's free parking on Oxford. I was tempted to keep Kashira a secret all to myself, but this spot is just too good not to share! read more

I think many of the reviews about service is spot on. My first time here, so consistency of food quality is something I can't speak to, but was mixed for me based on what we ordered. I'll start with service and menu, because that does set up the food, or in our case, could have set it up better. My sister is a semi regular and the reason we came here. The AYCE option sounds like the best value and confirms by my sister, so that's what we went with. First off, make sure your full party is on time and in synch, because the AYCE menu requires it. You only get three rounds, which really wasn't an issue, but it does play a role in what and how you order. Confused? Yeah, me too. Then there are sections of the AYCE menu that are limited for round 1, then charged for round 2 and 3. There is also a section where you can order and pay for some premium options at a discount. Sounds good and i really think they are trying to give you extra options at a discount, but the 3 round limit just makes it confusing and difficult with a party larger than 1. Everyone in the party has to order from the special section of the menu at the same time, cause if you don't, than you have to pay in round 2 even if you didn't order everything allowed in round 1. Kind of makes you want to over order in round 1, which we did and was happy about that, so we thought. Then the food starts coming in and we don't know what's what, cause the waiter doesn't tell you what he is dropping off. So annoying. We kept asking him and he would tell you sometime and other times, just didn't. If you love sushi like we do, it's pretty obvious which ones were from the premium section, but it would be nice to hear it from the waiter. Don't get me wrong, the server started off strong, but the back and forth from all the questions about the menu wore on all of us and it was obvious about half way into our meal. By the way, we never even got to round 3, so if you go, don't let that play into your orders. As for the food, quality of most of the seafood was pretty good. It did seem like by round 2, a little less care was taken into how some of the seafood was sliced, but quality was still there. I may go back since it's one of my sisters go to's and we are all a little more experienced with the menu, but what's the point of AYCE if there are so many restrictions and rules? Seem like there Trust Me menu was popular and something i would have ordered, but makes it hard when the AYCE is only a few bucks more. Hmmm? Finally, one reviewer mentioned the check in special for a soft drink and I appreciate that. I e were seated right next to the sign/artwork with the free soft drink offer with check in inside. My sister even asked to claim it, but glad I didn't ask cause the current check in offer is for AYCE at $32.99, the same price posted if you don't check in. WTH? I love food. A lot. And this place, for all you can eat sushi and ramen, is AMAZING. The quality of the food is AMAZING . Although it's all you can eat, a small bowl of Ramon came with all the veggies/Effie and noodles you could as for. The sushi was amazing and super flavorful, the salads were delicious and the fried chicken was amazing I don't live in LA but I can promise that I will come here again. Offered in mild, regular and extra spicy, we tried the regular and it had a nice healthy kick of spice. Broth is rich and flavorful without being too oily. Noodles are chewy and eggy, chasiu is tender and egg is soft boiled. - pork tonkatsu curry - served with miso soup, rice and salad. Katsu is crisp and I loved their house curry. Yummy and filling. SERVICE: Excellent and friendly! We asked for extra bowls since we were sharing and they offered to split our ramen into 2 bowls for us! :D They even cut the egg in half. Super friendly staff. VENUE/PARKING: Venue is fairly spacious. There's a large bar counter area surrounding the sushi bar and several tables and booths. Bathrooms are clean. I swear I was slapped in the face by the fragrance of fresh tempura. The restaurant interior is clean and beautiful, and the menu is extremely extensive. In fact, it is a bit overwhelming. There are SO many choices, and the Kashira makes sure you know it: they literally have the menu posted everywhere...walls...napkin holders....EVEN TAPED IN THE WALLS OF THE BATHROOM LOLOL. My friend and I both ordered lunch specials, which are great combo deals! My friend got the Ramen + Eel bowl, and I got the Chirashi + Mini Ramen bowl. The ramen broth was absolutely delicious. I was confused why they only included 1/4 of an egg for me, and 1/2 an egg for my friend. Hers was a full ramen bowl, so didn't it deserve at least a whole egg? Jeez. The chirashi bowl was delicious as well, and the fish tasted really fresh. The chef behind the sushi counter was more attentive to us than the waitress. He constantly checked up on us (from behind the counter), asking if there were any problems or if the food was good or if we were ready for the check. Oh yeah...the check. After we finished eating, we tried to ask for our check many times, but the waitress A) took forever and B) kept attending to other customers before us. My friends and I decided to come here at the recommendation of another friend, who said the ramen is really good. Came here but actually didn't get any ramen as I wasn't feeling like it. Our party of 6 got a bunch of rolls and shared amongst the table. We really liked the Dragon roll and Popcorn Shrimp roll. I do want to come here to try the ramen next time. Food was not bad, but I have to say the service was meh. It was a bit hard to get the servers' attention half the time (one of them literally walked away after my friend did get her attention). And also, our seat/booth was just not good. We were seated right next to the bathroom and. Whenever somebody opened the bathroom door we would get a waft of the smells coming out...not appetizing. Slave girl found a sushi and ramen bar in Korean town and it is our duty to check out the place. The parking wasn't bad at all. Besides street parking, there is an underground parking structure right below the restaurant. The entrance is on the side (Oxnard St) next to a bus parking lot. Also, the restaurant only validates the parking for 2 hours even though there's a sign in the garage says 4. The restaurant is well spaced with sushi bar seating available. Service was fast and friendly. Our server, Natalia, was thoughtful and really took her time to listen to our questions. Not your typical k-town treatment. My favorite of the night was spicy tuna on crispy rice cake. The spicy tuna was well seasoned, especially when combined with the crunchy texture of the rice cake, and when you ate the entire piece in one bite, it was heavenly. I would also recommend the Kyushu tonkotsu ramen because of the tasty broth. It was made with pork and chicken and a hint of shiitake mushroom. If you ever want to get that, make sure NOT to get it spicy because you should really taste the broth and enjoy it. Overall, nice service and decent food. read more

Absolutely loved this place! Everything was so delicious and I was in a hurry to eat that I couldn't even take any pictures, but don't worry I'm planning to be back very soon so I'll post pictures! They have happy hour drinks from 5pm to 9pm. We ordered a large cold sake for $3!!!! Of course, house sake (hot or cold) aren't going to be the best quality sake they have but ....it's $3! haha We ordered the fresh live oysters 3 pieces for $8.50 I believe. It was very fresh! The chef gave us ponzu and chili oil?...thingy on the side and that was amazing! The three pieces were perfect, it wasn't too much just perfect for an appetizer. Even someone that doesn't enjoy oysters ate one and said it was "pretty" good haha The Aburi sushi 5pcs combo was definitely a great choice. I was thinking about the 7 pcs but I wanted to try different things so I went with the 5 pieces! Uni, tuna, yellowtail, scallop and salmon...belly? all five pieces were slightly seared. They were very delicious but it wasn't like MELT IN MY mouth quality. We also ordered bluefin tuna, albacore and ikura sushi. IKURA was not salty at all! It had a hint of sweet plum taste, and I fell in love! The tuna and albacore were good but nothing that stood out to me. We also ordered the tempura udon. The broth was a little on the bland side but they were very giving with the tempura. Mixed vegetables and shrimps were included and they fried it so it's crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside to taste the different vegetables. We though we should get some vegetables.. so we ordered the tuna poke salad as well.. (this was for a party of 2...) Nothing really stuck out but I thought they could've put more salad.. in there ... hahaa It had seaweed salad inside as well. Finally I ordered a spicy tuna roll which was $3.. Everything was delicious, but of course this is Yelp and I'm kind of super critical at times especially when I'm hungry so let's start with the items that I think you can skip. The Ahi Poke was just Ok, I thought it needed more sea salt, maybe a hint of sesame oil, and bigger chunks of tuna. The popcorn shrimp also didn't taste seasoned. Some of the sushi I got weren't sliced property, so don't expect perfection on the nigiris. As for the good and the really good stuff, you should get the oyster, nice nice & big and super briny. The Crispy rice was flavorful, crispy. The Chirashi I like a lot, has sushi rice and of course the usual chirashi type fish for the simple foodies. The fatty salmon was super flavorful, very oily, and tastes almost like butter. The soy ramen is really nice on a cold day, has the usual egg, greens, and kamaboko for topping. As for what you'll find on the menu here, the prices are incredibly easy on the wallet for a location like this. You can get a Tonkotsu Ramen for $9 during lunch here! Or a tempura and teriyaki chicken here for under $10! (Speaking of which, teri chicken and tempura is what I usually order in most Japanese places and I didn't get to try it here so I shall be back ! ) Yes, according to Kadae, server Miho IS super friendly. She was here as part of the team that helped serve us. They have Kirin on draft here, as well as some sake and sochu. I want to try to come here during happy hour one day, I believe it's 4pm-9pm everyday. This place is now open for business. I would say this place is about 4.5 stars but rounded off to 5. Free drink with Yelp check-in. Don't come here expecting Katsuya or Urasawa quality. This place is a lot easier on the poket book. It's my second time here and believe it or not it's even better than the first time. First time I had the chicken based ramen soup with a side of a spicy albacore hand roll. So scrumptious. This time? I had the nigiri trust me combo with the ramen sound and another spicy albacore hand roll. The sushi was ridiculously fresh. We had UNI and SWEET SHRIMP and TORO and EEL and the presentation oh it was out of this world ah-mazing. I don't eat pork so ramen can be a challenge for me but they were so kind and offered a variety of solutions - so wonderful!! It was so filling and so wonderful - such a hidden jewel and you know what the sushi was better than Sugarfish and that's saying a lot. The only downside is parking really. Kashira is one of the few Japanese restaurants in the heart of K-town. I had a mad craving for breakfast but the Sunday line for Denny's was a nightmare!!! So, we crossed the street and decided on Japanese cuisine to start the day. We waited outside of Kashira until they were ready for the day. Their hours of operation sign states they open at Noon on Sundays but they didn't open the doors until 10 minutes after noon. The interior looks great but our table was just wiped down and our arms stuck to the surface of the table as we tried to settle in. A couple carts were up front and center holding bins of dirty dishes. It wasn't the most pleasant thing to face while eating. They could easily have hid them in the back of the restaurant rather than against the window. I ordered a chicken teriyaki plate, avocado rolls, and vegetable tempura. The tempura was okay nothing too special. The avocado plate was simple as well and the plate was not wiped and had avocado smears everywhere. But, the teriyaki plate was delicious!!! It was well dressed in a tasty sauce with a fairly good serving! There was confusion with my boyfriend's sushi order because he was given an already filled out sushi menu and so we received and were charged for someone else's sushi. We accepted it as the waitress seemed confused and didn't know how to handle the situation. Overall, the restaurant was off to a rough start I'm thinking due to the late opening. I think they were caught off guard and pressured with the families waiting outside for them to open their doors. We will be coming again for that chicken teriyaki plate!! I dropped by Kashira with a coworker because it was across the street from the Wiltern. We needed to catch a quick bite before our concert (with The Fray). The restaurant is spacious. And we were seated right away. Their happy hours were quite generous - 4 PM - 9 PM. Example: a pitcher of Kirin was $6.50. So I recommend it if you want to grab a beer after work -- They also have 2 hour validation. No bad. When we got in, we were really worried that a sit-in restaurant would take too long. We asked the staff which items were served quick --she had to run back a few times before getting us the answer. So I settled for the Tempura Udon and my coworker got the Pork Curry Katsu. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. However, both of our dishes weren't very good. I didn't ask the details for the Pork Curry Katsu (my coworker and I agreed that it was 3 stars for food), but my tempura Udon was lacking. The tempura came with about 3 shrimp pieces, and a number of vegetables (carrots, King oyster mushrooms and zucchini pieces). The batter was a little thick and didn't have a crunch that I look for -- It felt like, premade frozen ones you find at the grocery market. The udon is slightly better than those instant bowls (but I do have to hand it to Nong Shim for making a bomb ass Instant Udon Bowl) My dish was $9 and my coworker's was $11.50 (before tax and tip) I would drop by this place for happy hour if it was convenient, but I don't think it's authentic as it claims to be. 4 stars for great service, convenience and parking **Check in for free soda --my coworker got hot green tea, and they gave it to us for free instead of soda. read more

usually I don't leave review. but I want to let owner know these big problem. first, I went to restroom for wash my hands before eating but I couldn't wash. That sink were UNSANITARY!! and make me feel nasty!! That sink was clogged and water wont go down. and toilet tissue were on the wet floor. I walked in by myself and there was an old lady server who looked at me weird. She sat me down near trash bag and right next to all the menu at. She was being rude but I did not care. I just assumed that she had a bad day. I came here for all you can sushi so I asked her I want to see the all you can eat menu. She replied me another ugly look so I asked her "why you give me that look." She replied, "oh no one usually order all you can eat sushi alone." I relied, "I want to do all you can eat. I do have enough money to pay it." After the conversation, sushi men were looking at us so she changed attitude towards me all the sudden. She pretended like she was a being nice to me. I guess it was like korean stereotype that old people can ignore young people. She was like that. Very rude and she kept saying that she saw me before. This is my first time. What a liar. If this store is not running long, it will be because of her. I can tell that it was not only me. She definitely did a bad service to others. I want to give not even 1 star but after she left for few minutes, DJ was an another server. He was really nice and friendly. If she kept serving me, I would just pay and left. But he explained the menu well and he kept being nice to me even tho I asked him for water 3 times lol I give 3 stars because of him and food. Thank you DJ! Food was pretty good overall. I had sushi mainly. I dont know about the rolls but their sushi is better than Sushi Ippo. I had this place bookmarked for a long time since its almost impossible to find good sushi place in Ktown. All those 5 star reviews made me want to pay a visit. Perhaps it was good before... I didn't like anything I ordered. Lunch nigiri special came with a mediocre small tonkotsu ramen. Sushi was not fresh, i knew it'd be too good to be true if it was for $20. Tuna was chewy, ended up spitting it out. Out of the bunch, nothing really stood out. Plus, if it's chef's special why put cooked shrimp, eel and tamago? Especially if the quality is mediocre?!? Places like this makes me upset. Udon with tempura was not even great. Udon tasted like the market bought instant ones and tempura had a thick batter. Not the light crispy batter like the ones I get in other Japanese sushi joints. It's cheap but quality is a must when it comes to seafood so I'll never return unless its under new management. read more

I'm going to be honest with you, I was skeptical of how good the sushi would be here at Kashira, since it was smack dab in the middle of Ktown, but this place exceeded my expectations. Especially with the happy hour drink deals, only $2.50 sapporo and $3.50 for a large sake, that goes from 4pm-9pm. Worth it! The service was good, wish they sat two people at a table though, they reserve tables for parties of 3 or more, but when we went, it was practically empty, give or take a couple parties. We ordered two orders of the Nigiri Trust Me special for a little less than $20. Comes with 10 pieces of nigiri, AND includes sweet shrimp and uni. All of them were pretty good, scallop was fresh and sweet, decent-sized uni that was so creamy and sweet. They even include the shrimp head. Only thing was, there was one piece that had a fish bone, can't remember which fish though. Also ordered the popcorn shrimp roll. Opted for seaweed instead of the soy paper. Awesome that they make their rolls with actual crab and not imitation. This was good but the serving was pretty small. Overall, would definitely come again, probably for lunch. Their happy hour and lunch specials are such a steal! The lunch sets are the perfect amount of food. Ordered the trust me special + mini ramen, chirashi + mini ramen, an order of uni, and a large house sake for only $54! Definitely come before 4pm for these prices. They also have happy hour drinks everyday from 4pm-9pm. Beer, sake, and and wine for half off! The ramen was so flavorful, ask them for a side of spicy sauce to add to the broth (extra 50 cents and I only found out by looking over the receipt. Wish the waitress told us beforehand). The fish can't beat the ones from Little Tokyo, but it was still fresh and beautiful presented. Service was also very nice and friendly. Parking is really easy. They have a designated parking garage (entrance is next to CVS) and it's free for 3 hours with validation. Will come back again :) read more

Whoever the owner / management is of this place: your business is in trouble. The freshness is horrible. Clearly items have been lingering too long and fed to customers anyhow. "Is everything okay?" - I forced myself to not blow up in your restaurant. And I talked loudly of how bad everything is. If you don't care, I don't care if your cooks or staff hear me either. Ya know I don't expect you to make Eater LA's radar. Heck many competent Japanese grocery stores have sashimi sections. And they don't put out the filth you guys do! Sushi isn't something that I crave for lunch, but ended up following my coworkers here because they kept raving about the food. We all ordered the sushi lunch special, which comes with 10 pieces of sushi and a bowl of udon or ramen all for $20. Considering the price, I was expecting the bowl of udon to be small, but it looks like a regular meal size bowl. The sushi itself was great. It comes with one of everything, salmon, tuna, albacore, uni, and more. We also ordered a rainbow roll and that didn't disappoint either. I definitely want to come back, maybe for happy hour or dinner, to try other stuff on their menu. But for lunch, this is probably the best deal in town, for the quality and quantity that you get. read more
