    Dinner Box "B"
    Stella K.

While staying at Hyatt House, across from UC Colorado Anschutz Medical Center where we had an appt, we were looking for something light to eat since we had a late lunch on our flight to Denver due to a delayed flight. There doesn't seem to be much near the hotel within walkable distance. Searching online I found Kassai Sushi that was open late and place a delivery order from their website. If you're choosing delivery, use their website because the prices are slightly lower. For example, the Dinner Box "B" I ordered was $27.95 on the restaurant website, and the same thing on Grub Hub was listed at $31. Dinner Box "B" is a nice sushi/sashimi combo : 7 pieces of sushi, 7 pieces of sashimi, and California Roll. It also comes with soup, rice and salad. When I placed the order for "ASAP", they gave an estimated delivery time of 45 minutes, and the order arrived on time. The driver met me outside the hotel front entrance. The sushi was good! Some of the sashimi was sliced in an odd way I had never seen before... they were wide, long, and thin. Still tasty. I like how they packed the soy sauce in little cups, as it gives some place to mix in wasabi. I also don't like dealing with all those little soy sauce packets that are usually packed in take out. The orange cup contained the dressing for the salad. I'm not sure what flavor it was, but it was good. This is a big meal and will definitely fill you up.

It was ok but always pay attention customer request!! Well this is obvious cuz prolly the don't read English well or just don't pay attention or just don't follow instructions. I ax force tea chooppy sticks n more wasabi. Didn't get it...

Great great spot! It's kind of hidden in a small plaza in a neighborhood, but those are the best! Ample parking and they have happy hour! Since it was our first time, we missed it....next time! The interior wasn't too bright, which gave it a nice ambiance. There weren't many people (surprisingly since it was happy hour time), but the service was a tad slow. It took a while for them to take our orders and realized that it was just one waitress working. The entrees seemed like forever (maybe I was realllllly hungry), but when it came all worries went away. The Tokyo roll was phenomenal! The fish was fresh and it just didn't have any extras on it. Just fish and rice! Yum! The yellowtail jalapeno roll was pretty basic, but still delicious. I loved the small hint of spiciness (could've been a little more for me), and just yellowtail. I love that it wasn't packed with rice and less fish. I appreciate that! That was more than enough food!! Thank goodness I didn't order more! My boyfriend ordered his usuals, PA roll and salmon roll - boooooring! lol jk. He makes everything easier. Will definitely come back for happy hour and just come back in general!! xx

Yet again, Kassai delivers an amazing dinner experience. We've never been disappointed by food or service. They have killer quality and it is so refreshing to come back to a staple and know you'll get what you're expecting. I will forever be convinced that the only reason this place isn't absolutely packeddd is because of location being off the beaten path. Quality, price, service 10/10

Came in for our first visit. Parking spaces should be available most times of the week. Not too busy on a Saturday night. The food was good. They almost met my expectations of amazing. The service was the same. Good versus amazing. The ambiance was chill with the vibe inside. At one point someone was cleaning with some very strong smelling chemicals. Talk about a scent you do not want to smell while enjoying dinner. We may come back for more in the future. But most likely will only visit a couple times a year. I have higher expectations when spending $100 bucks with tip.

Lexi & I went here last night for a sushi date! And like usual it didn't disappoint! The Mexico roll is my favorite and I will get it every time. The gyozas were crispy and flavorful! Lexi loves salmon so she always gets a roll that has salmon and of course the salmon nigiri! Our server was excellent! She was nice, and attentive! Anytime we need sushi this is our favorite spot that isn't too expensive! Dan & Lexi

Doordash review for Kassai. Honestly the sushi was decent for the area. I know sushi generally more $$$ than other cuisine but I did feel like for a $50 meal (3 rolls), the size of the rolls and quality of the fish could have been better. I did not like the jazz roll as the black pepper taste did not mesh well with the tuna. The other rolls were decent, but nothing mind blowing. I also think they were using overcooked rice cause some of the rice in the rolls were crunchy af. Wished my to go order came with complimentary miso soup or house salad, but I might have been spoiled by sushi establishments back at home.

I ordered a teriyaki salmon bento box. The soup and salad was good. The California roll was good. But the piece of salmon was really small and over cooked. And the yakitori was inedible. It was so overcooked, I had to throw it away. I will try the restaurant again one day since it's near my workplace.

I gave them another go and happily increase my stars to 5/5! Ordered off DoorDash on a Tuesday night and my food was ready & delivered quickly. They put a cardboard box under the sushi container in the brown paper bag in came in to ensure the sushi stayed nice and intact. Very thoughtful! I tried 2 new sushis from my last visit, and was happy to see they were much bigger than before. In the attached photo I had transferred the sushi to a platter so you can see the ingredients better. MIA roll (left) - shrimp tempura, cream cheese, jalapeño, topped with spicy tuna. Not too much cream cheese, generous amount of spicy tuna. Jalapeño gives it a nice crunch and punch! New York roll (right) - tuna, avocado, topped with salmon So good! Can't wait to order again.

This place is delicious and has a very chill vibe. Plus I checked in on Yelp (my first time ever) and I got a free sake! Score! The fish tasted fresh and the service was good. It wasn't overly crowded which is hard to come by in Denver these days. For sushi prices it was reasonable; looks like I have a new go-to spot!

We thought we made a mistake choosing sushi bar instead of a table because we'll have back issues. Surprisingly, the chairs had a mini back so you could lean back occasionally. And we think our experience was better because the sushi chefs would explain the origin of the fish and all the ingredients they used into each roll and order. We also got a complimentary piece for sitting at the sushi bar which was a light fried yellow tail which was so good. Service is amazing. They're attentive and check in on you often. It does take some time to get your rolls but give its time to digest. From watching the sushi chefs at the bar, they're very precise in how they make each roll. Every roll has similar proportions from the slight wasabi they use to the amount of rice and fish. Everything that we had was amazing. The hamachi and salmon sashimi felt like butter. It just melts in your mouth. The aged toro was so delicious. Even the edamame was just so good. The unagi nigiri is some of the best I've had in the state (the nigri was better than the handroll and I think it's because I love unagi so I love the ratio in nigiri form). The Spicy Tuna Oshizushi was a surprising favorite of the night along with the Crème Fresh Salmon Belly. I could've done without the wagyu but it was good. Every order does come with only 1 so order based on the amount of people that are with your party. Some items we were unsure of like the wagyu so we ordered 1 and shared a bite. Overall, I understand the hype and the reservations. But it was worth it and I'm surprised we can get high quality fish in a landlock state. Uchi is dangerous for people like me…read more Not because of the raw fish. Because the place understands seduction. I've been eating at Uchi since it opened in Denver and today it still carries that same intoxicating balance of precision, warmth, swagger, and restraint. The room itself glows instead of shouts. Wood slats divide the dining room into little private theaters while the sushi counter hums with focused choreography. Expert hands moving constantly. Rice. Fish. Quiet communication. Tiny acts of discipline repeated hundreds of times a night. I sat down intending to have a civilized happy hour. That plan lasted maybe twelve minutes. The kurodai crudo arrived first. Gooseberry, leche de tigre, candied garlic. Bright, sharp, and alive. This is the kind of starter that wakes up your entire palate and you are reminded that you will absolutely be spending more money than originally intended. Next was the bincho temaki: cool albacore, kimchi, avocado, and a vividly garish orange sauce with some heat to keep the richness from becoming too much. Uchi understands something many restaurants don't: luxuriousness needs balance. Fatty fish without acid, spice, crunch, or brightness is palate exhaustion. And then one after another the deliciousness continued: the oysters were cold and perfect with cucumber, calamansi vinegar, and umeboshi. The day boat scallop nigiri nearly stopped time altogether. Just sweet scallops, rice, citrus, a little finishing salt. Incréable. Or whatever the French word is for "I briefly forgot my own name." And somewhere during martini number one, the staff adopted me. Apparently Uchi keeps notes on guests. Mine, I was told, says I'm "nice and a good eater," which may be the most flattering thing anyone has said to me in months. Suddenly more dishes started appearing. Gifted nigiri. Ikura glowing like little amber jewels (my favorite). A ridiculous and completely delicious carrot toro maki with green chili crunch and enough heat underneath the richness to make the whole thing flirt openly with your mouth. At one point the bartenders literally invented a "walu walu shot" on the fly just because the mood had drifted into improvisational chaos. This was somewhere between oyster shooter, seafood dare, and excellent bad decisions. Meanwhile, the guests next to me started talking to me and the entire energy of the evening shifted into communal sushi-bar joy. Suddenly we were all reacting to dishes, laughing, comparing bites, participating in the same ecosystem of salt, fish, alcohol, and temporary human connection. This is the real thing Uchi sells. Not merely sushi. Attention. Rhythm. Atmosphere. Memory. The feeling of being folded into a beautifully functioning machine dedicated entirely to pleasure. And yes, by the end I was emotional enough to remember being 20 years old eating sushi with an older woman named Alana who wore real fur and introduced me to this whole sensual adult world in the first place. That is what a martini and exceptional nigiri will do to a man. The final bill before tip was somehow only $141, which honestly feels mathematically impossible considering I briefly entered a spiritual relationship with the sushi counter. I tipped $50 because at that point we were basically family. Uchi remains one of the sexiest restaurants in Denver. Not performatively sexy. Not influencer sexy. Actually sexy. Confident. Observant. Generous. Precise. And just dangerous enough to make you order one more thing. Amazing dining experience.
