I ate here with 4 friends tonight and we were hungry. We ordered lots of sushi and the bill averaged $27/person including a beer, lots of food, and tip. So the price is very reasonable. There is $1/piece sushi happy hour which only lasts from 4:30-10PM every day! Downsides: small dining area, crowded tables, strip mall location, small pieces of fish. No comparison to the ambiance of a Sushi Den, Japon, or even John Holly's. Quality of the food was decent but not such that I would drive across town to get more. I'm giving this place 5 stars. We came here for the first time and were seated right away. They were fairly busy because they only had one server on. Unfortunately, we didn't have the best service. Fortunately, the food was delicious. So, we came back. The past two time we've gone it's been amazing service AND awesomely fresh sushi! The nigiri we had was So buttery every time!! I love the sushi at this location but credit users beware! I align with many of the reviews. The store fronts look a bit sketchy but the interior is very contemporary. One negative for me occurred when picking up an order. I live nearby and when I changed a delivery order to a pick up order, while looking for my card the waitress pulled up my name, address, phone number and full credit card number on the take out screen in large letters. Thankfully my card number had since been updated but if you are ordering I would advise using cash. read more

Kassai is a welcome surprise to the Quebec/7th area. It's kind of like finding a $10 bill in the bus station. You would never expect it, but it makes you happy. I have always had a good experience with the service, but we normally go out for sushi on a weekday and kind of after work (7:00PM). Last time we had a cooked Yellow Tail collar+ cold unfiltered sake, it was awesome. I recommend it as an easy place to get sushi - definitely no pretense. good prices and good food. It does not compare with other cities like San Francisco or Vancouver, but hey this is Denver which is at least 1,000 miles from the nearest ocean. What do you expect? I would not recommend this as a place to go on a date where you might want to impress your girl with your broad knowledge of eating raw fish. For that I would choose Domo (or if you want to come off as a real snob, Sushi Den). But if you want to and chillax and get good sushi for a good price, Kassai is the place to go. read more

They recently opened for dine-in. Seating was only at the tables and not at the sushi bar the day I ate which is understandable in light of the ongoing pandemic and precautions. We dropped in here in hopes of finding a new delicious sushi place. However, Kassai fell short of expectations. For starters we walked in to what seemed to be a very understaffed sushi restaurant. We were acknowledged by a lady rushing around who said she'd be with us shortly. After about 10 minutes another employee told us to seat ourselves. We sat ourselves in the only clean table open and waited for menus. Where we sat there was an overwhelming smell of urine and we continued to wait for another 15 minutes before receiving a menu. The server dropped of our menu and a pen but no ordering sheet. We thought she'd be right back but that wasn't the case. After another 10 minutes my husband got up and asked for the ordering sheet. The sushi was subpar and the service was horrible but nothing really compares to the overwhelming stench of urine. I considered leaving many times but was determined that they would exceed my expectations after reading some of the great reviews. The pictures don't really do it justice. To end off the night we decided to order the deep fried green tea ice cream. The server dropped it off and said "it's still pretty frozen." That was an understatement, we bent our spoon trying to eat the frozen hunk of ice cream. I definitely won't be back and I probably wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I haven't been to the restaurant, but I just had delivery from Kassai. The gentleman on the phone was very nice and my delivery driver was so sweet and nice. We ordered the Tuna Poke, which was delicious! I've only had it once before and this was just as yummy. The only difference was price, it was a slight bit more expensive. I had 2 pieces of Hamachi (yellow tail) nigiri. the pieces of fish were larger than I expected, so this was a great treat! We finished off with a Philadelphia Roll which was average tasting. I've been living in Denver for 2 years and have been searching for a place that serves awesome sushi. Many of Denver's sushi tends to be fancy/ fusion or just poor quality. Some of these places are kind of good, but kassai is generally simple, fresh, and affordable. The fried scallops are wicked good and the scallop handroll was even better. At one point I felt like giving a standing ovation because I finally found it. I found sushi that resonates with my tastebuds. It's saying a lot. Not once during my entire meal did my taste buds throw out warning signs of fishiness. That's a first for me in denver. Service was quick and attentive. What more can I say? Kassai is my go-to for a sushi fix at an affordable price. They always have dollar pieces and the quality of the seafood is always amazing...I say that having frequented higher priced, more "hot" sushi restaurants in town. They're never out of mochi, of which they have various flavors and if you check in on Yelp while you're there you receive a delicious bottle of hot sake on the house! The lack of the fifth star on my rating is that service is notoriously slow. Although you'll be approached every few minutes so the server may take your order and the food comes out quickly and well-plated, it's a bit of an effort to get the attention of your server after they've placed your meal. I was a little leery about trying this place on Quebec but it came recommended by some people in the neighborhood so I gave it a try. I was very pleased with the rolls I tried (Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon, and the Phoenix Roll). I've tried lots of places in Denver for sushi and this one is at the top of my list for takeout.
