We went last night for the second time. My wife and I split appetizers. The Fried Calamari was prepared in a light tempora batter and was exceptional. The steamed Shumai was delicious, but there were only 4 dumplings. Could have used a couple more. I had the Vietnamese Pho with beef. The soup and noodles were delicious, but the pieces of beef were not thin enough and as a result, were sometimes chewy. My wife had the Mango Duck. The presentation was beautiful and the seasoning was delicious. Definitely will return soon. read more

Four of us went for dinner. We were seated but no drink menu was provided. My daughter-in-law finally got up and located the beverage menu. We waited for Natalie to take our order. Wonderful Japanese restaurant, very clean, good service, great food. IF you happen to be going on a Friday or Saturday night you might want to call ahead. We arrived around 9, took our seats and were treated (or tortured) to a very loud, very bad, drunken rendition of "friends in low places" by the large private party in the lounge. Karaoke parties are NOT fun if you are trying to have a quiet romantic dinner in the next room! The worst part is the drunken "ladies" kept coming out and sitting at tables for some "air" causing the wait staff to run out to check if they wanted something. Went here for the first time tonight. Food was good for the value. The rolls were so huge I had to bite them in half in order to chew and swallow which made the entire experience a bit messy and ugh. The menu is overwhelming at 5+ pages (legal size). The service left much to be desired and they weren't very busy. I would probably visit other places in the area before returning. read more

Very cute restaurant, decorated very nicely. The service was impeccable during lunch, even with my friend and her 8 month old daughter. When I get sick, I crave Tom Kha Kai. I've tried it from a couple different places in the area, but I enjoyed Kata's the most. We also ordered the fried and the pad thai, both of which were great. Boyfriend ordered the crispy spring rolls and he enjoyed them as well. read more

I'm giving one star for the mere fact that they don't sell gift certificates over the phone. I've never eaten here but I wanted to send my mother a GC for her to try it out. I was told I would need to come in to purchase. I live in San Francisco so it's not possible. My favorite sushi place in town! The first time I came here I was shocked by the menu. It is huge! They have something for everyone. I love tofu and had the fried tofu which was delicious as well as the wonton soup to start. Usually I can eat two rolls and finish them and be full. I ordered the celebration roll and the Lyndol roll and when the roll came out I thought it was both of them on the same plate... it was only one!!! I have never seen sushi this big before and they were pretty cheap at $10 a roll! They were delicious but I wasn't able to eat even half of each and had to take the rest to go. Their hot sake is delicious as well. They have a friendly staff and the ambiance is nice. It's also easy parking for downtown Vero and very easy to find. read more

We found out about this establishment from a friend. The lunch we had was great. I loved my 'box' of food. The meal was fresh and well worth the price. My husband did not care for the green curry. Only reason why I did not give 5 stars...I asked for sushi without avocado and the server claimed she didn't hear me. I for sushi with avocado and she was sorry, but that was about it. Probably the worst sushi restaurant on the east coast of Florida. Not just because of the lack of options, but also because they lack creativity and passion and most importantly, lack of "FLAVOR"! On top of having very few actual options for sushi, I have also tried some of their other options, even the most basic "chicken fried rice" was absolutely bland and flavorless. Let's talk about service, or the lack there of... I could of poured my drink, cooked my meal, and printed my check and paid the bill faster than I was asked for my order. It took over 20 mins after I received my drink for the server to come back and ask to take my order. When I was clearly done eating this bland tasteless food it yet again took the server over 20 mins to give me the attention to get my check... So yes, I said worst sushi, but it might just be one of the worst overall restaurants on the east coast of Florida... Two thumbs down from me. I came to Kata last weekend while in Vero Beach visiting my sister. We had a great sushi night out! The rolls are creative and not just the same old standards, and everything was well prepared. You can tell they put a lot of craft into their rolls as well as their sauces they use on special rolls. The East Coast roll was way too spicy for my sisters, though, and we weren't expecting that. Vero suffers from a lack of great sushi places. Kata fills the role of decent sushi place well enough but nothing special here. The decor is pretty boring and the tables are arranged in a pretty boring setup. The service is only fair. But the sushi is decent and there isn't a lot of strong competition to shake things up. read more

This is a place where the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover" can be applied. The outside surrounding is plain, but the interior design is welcoming and comfortable. This is yet another Thai/Viet/Japanese restaurant. Food portions are not too big and not too small. It's just right for the Asian stomach. Also, if you come here within the next 7 days and bring in your receipt, you get a 10% off your meal (at least that's what it said on mine). read more

I'm normally not a fan of Asian food because I feel like I never get enough to feel full. This is not the case with Kata. The food portions are large and if you leave hungry, it's your own fault. We have put off going to Kata because from the outside it looks like a vacant building. This is not the case. Inside is a nicely furnished restaurant with booths and tables and even a nice waiting area. The menu is mostly Sushi and Sashimi but there are plenty of other options. They have several Duck dishes, Teriyaki dishes, Stir Fry, Fried Rice and a section devoted just to Vietnamese foods. The wait staff are attentive and do their jobs well. We've been twice already and this place is fast becoming a family favorite. Parking is free, just across the street next to the old Post Office. This is the best Asian restaurant in Indian River county. read more

Excellent Restaurant. We went there with friends on a weekend (in Season) with no reservations so were ushered into the very lovely bar area. We were seated within a half hour. The menu is extensive and my meal was delicious and very ample. Everyone loved their dinner without hesitation. I would recommend this restaurant to friends who frequent the Sake restaurant (this one, I hear, is owned by the same family) and wish to dine in a more upscale atmosphere. read more

I received a gift card from habitat for humanity Indian River for Kata - $75. When I went to use it they claimed that their machine wasn't working, and we paid another way. I went back to use the card, and they came back to me stating that it had a zero balance. They clearly skimmed it the first time I was there. I'm glad that I checked before ordering the second time I was there. This is very bad business, very unethical, and I will never go there again. I recommend to everyone I know to not bring their business to Kata. Bad Business practice. I'll go somewhere with integrity all day long. read more
