So, this was not only one of my favorite meals in Vero Beach, but one of my all-time favorite MEALS. Atmosphere. Perfect. Food. Perfect. Drink. Perfect. Service. Eddy elevated our experience. Eddy, you are so incredible. KNOW that when you walk up. THANK you. The wife and I kept it simple. We split the oysters, the lobster bisque, and the 8 oz steak. All were INCREDIBLE. I eat oysters about 3% of the time my wife orders them, and I will say that I am glad to include theirs as part of my 3%. The bisque. Without boring you younger readers with Seinfeld-Lobster Bisque references, let me just say that it was amazing. I am a list person. A sports guy. I asked my wife, "where does this rank?" Reply? "I don't know, but definitely in the top three ever." I concur. The steak was cooked perfectly, and was an awesome presentation. We made a mistake by over-ordering on the desserts, but I don't fully regret it. I just like brownies. She got the key lime pie. If you are full, although the fudge brownie was awesome, do not pass Go, do not collect your $200, and just go directly to Key Lime Pie Jail. It was amazing. I don't mind spending a little more IF the little more is worth it. I could say more, but yada yada yada. This place is worth it, without a doubt. I highly recommend, and see you there (the next time I visit my mom)...

We went to The Tides tonight, and the experience was great. Scott was our waiter, and he did an excellent job explaining the menu and ensuring we had the best first experience. We started off with the Spicy Margarita, which was really good. For our meals, we had the Crispy Roast Maple Leaf Farm Half Duck and the Herb Crusted Chicken Saltimbocca, both were delicious and very filling. We also had the Key Lime Pie, which we thought was exceptional. We sat outside, and it was really nice. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the live music was a great touch. The singer did a wonderful job. Next time we're in Vero, we'll definitely stop by again.

We were visiting friends in Vero, and they took us to The Tides. I'm so glad we were able to get a reservation, they said it is a very popular spot and their favorite place to eat in town. The Tides is a cute, quaint atmosphere. Relaxed, yet upscale. Everyone was so friendly and the service was impeccable. All of the hostesses, bus boys and of course our waitress. I wish I got her name, she was so sweet, and very knowledgeable about all of the dishes. My husband and I shared the white wine mussel special as an app. The broth/sauce was to die for, I could have drank it. However, the mussels were very small, but that's just the way it is sometimes. For our mains, I got the potato crusted grouper, served with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. The grouper was cooked perfectly, so delicious, I would definitely get it again. My husband got the Swordfish special, and he thoroughly enjoyed his as well. The Swordfish was served over orzo and came with fresh veggies too. If you're looking for a nice place to eat in Vero, we highly recommend The Tides.

This restaurant does get busy and reservation is recommended. The hostess was snappy when we showed up and had no reservation but did seat us inside. . It is quite cozy but does get loud . The food is really good and our waitress was nice. Quite a selection on the wine list as well.

The Tides arguably serves the finest cuisine in Vero Beach. On this particular evening we were celebrating my Mother's birthday and while ours' was a small group, it didn't compromise our capacity to "sample" a few different dishes. Instead of starting with their signature Pear Salad, I selected the mixed beet salad, it was outstanding. As my entree I selected the veal scallopini, it was exquisite. The service throughout our meal was impeccable, exactly what you would expect with a fine dining experience. The other item of note, and this has become a pet peeve of mine, too many restaurants today serve their food at a lukewarm temperature, not here at The Tides, everyone's meals were served piping hot, something that was very much appreciated.

Quaint little restaurant in Vero Beach. Absolutely first rate service. Each person in our party of six was delighted with their food. Excellent presentation and portions were generous. Even the side vegetables on the plate were just perfectly done. Got to plan ahead as reservations can be difficult to get. Parking is on the street. No lot. A bit expensive but worth the price.

Baked oysters were good... my Halibut was a little over cooked, while sauce was nice, with the bed of beans. Wife's Filet was cooked very well. Service was attentive.

    Everything was perfect here-the staff-the owners-the decor-the service-the drinks-the food-the dessert-best meal in Vero Beach yet.

We had a 5 star excellent dinner here. Service was wonderful -- thank you David -- as was the food. You could tell from the beginning that this was going to be great. The bread basket was wonderful -- coarse salted bread slices that were addictive along with sweet mini corn muffins and soft whipped butter. And they weren't stingy with the amount in the basket, either. We started by sharing a very good lightly dressed Caesar salad -- with added anchovies on the side. They even had no problem splitting the serving onto two plates in the kitchen. My main meal -- crispy duck -- was perfectly cooked and actually came with crispy skin as requested. One of the best I've ever had. I liked that they served the sauce -- an apricot orange one -- on the side so that the skin didn't get soggy. I loved my meal. My husband had their macadamia nut crusted snapper. He said the fish was lightly coated and flavorful. He also liked both the roasted potatoes and carrots that came with it. He was very pleased. We were too full for dessert, but we didn't miss it. We left the restaurant remarking on how wonderful everything was -- especially hard during a busy pre holiday period -- and how we would both highly recommend it.

What a wonderful Thanksgiving Eve dining experience! David, our server was very helpful and pleasant. I ordered the Macadamia nut encrusted Snapper with roasted potatoes and carrots with broccoli. My wife ordered the Duck with apricot orange sauce, mashed potatoes, carrots and broccoli. My Snapper was cooked perfectly and tasted so good! My wife likes her Duck crispy, most places come close, but the kitchen got it perfect here! She was so impressed and enjoyed her dish so much, she said it was the Best Duck she's ever had! Thanks to everyone for such a great meal and experience!

Ask the Community - The Tides Restaurant

Is it appropriate for small children?

I've never taken children to this restaurant, but I have seen others that have. The menu strikes me as being a bit too sophisticated for children, but that's just an opinion of one.

How is the dress code ? We didn't bring dressy clothes with us.

No worries. No dress code but probably would frown on swimsuits and bare feet!

It's such a beautiful spot, especially during the holidays when they really go all out with the decorations. The ambiance is hard to beat, and the view alone makes it worth the visit. The food is consistently delicious and well-prepared, although it is definitely on the pricier side. It feels more like a place for a special night out than an everyday dinner. On our most recent visit, the only downside (besides the prices) was that there was a very long wait time to get our food. Still, the setting and overall experience was positive so I wouldn't be against another visit.

Strangely we tried to go to a nearby restaurant that closed at 2 pm for lunch. The hostess there recommended Bobbie's and as they say a person in the trade recommending somewhere is a good sign. Apparently famous for French dip - I tried it and nothing special but ok and hit the spot. My wife had blackened Salmon which was large and she could not stop overeating it. They are also renown for fresh fish so not surprisingly the Salmon was first class. Separately there is a bar that was full but strangely they had no fraught beer available in the restaurant. The service felt more like a cafeteria or diner than a restaurant with these prices. It wasn't very friendly or welcoming, and for what you're paying, I expected a much better dining experience. One thing that stood out was that we were never told about any specials, yet we overheard our server explaining them to another table nearby. That made us feel overlooked. The décor also felt very outdated, with a 1970s atmosphere that just wasn't appealing to me. I understand some people enjoy a nostalgic vibe, but it wasn't what I was looking for. I'm glad we gave it a try because the prime rib was very good, but overall the experience wasn't enough to bring us back.

The service was good and the kitchen set up is nice, being about to see inside their kitchen with blue subway tile and large heat lamps. The food was mediocre at best. No flavor or seasoning to the skirt steak added to a salad ($34), the salmon special was described as pan seared but it looked baked, the orzo served with it wasn't bad but wasn't amazing either. The sides came in tiny round bowls and weren't even filled halfway. The peas were probably 1/4 cup. The green beans were tasty. The mashed potatoes were not buttered or salted very bland, also very hard to mess up mashed potatoes in my opinion as a cook. Even the summer cocktail list sounded amazing on the menu but was truly underwhelming and didn't impress once served. The cocktails are $17 I ordered the Passionfruit Hugo Spritz and it didn't come with any passion fruit puree just tasted of elderflower and prosecco, I needed to ask for some extra. The overall vibe was nice though, right on the water. That's probably what keeps them with patrons because the food is nothing spectacular or out of this world.

*INITIAL REVIEW*…read more Today, my family and I celebrated Mother's Day given the fact one of my sisters and I would be too busy to celebrate it on the actual day. Ergo, we made a trip down to Vero Beach and had fun at both McKee Botanical Gardens and the Vero Beach Museum of Art (VBMA), both which got stellar reviews by me in the past. In between both locales, we were hungry and needed to eat someplace local. I had some suggestions, but my mom was in the mood for seafood. As a suggestion from reviews, The Crab Stop of Vero Beach was ultimately decided upon. I have to say, I am happy this restaurant was suggested because it is very good. Even though an address is provided, The Crab Spot of Vero Beach (which I will shorthand simply to Crab Spot for the remainder of this review) is located on the southside of the entryway into Royal Palm Place, one of the many extensions leading out into the water near US-1, but this one is known for the Royal Palm Park at the end. Initial display, decor, and ambiance has the stereotypical local dive bar look with elements showcasing they specialize in seafood, and the little bits of rustic flaws adds a bit of character for what they are. I would not expect such a look for a high-end restaurant, but this works for a local place on the river. The chairs squeeked, the table wobbled a bit in which the waitress fixed with some coasters, and the plates were chipped. No problem at all. There was even outdoor seating in the back bar-style which gives you a nice view of the canal that leads to the river. It was high sun, so we opted for the air conditioning. Now we move on to the food. I have to say that the majority of our food was really good, and when you adjusted to what you are eating, it was top-notch. Key word, however, is the "majority." The good: the hush puppies basket as you get 10 hush puppies that are lightly-seasoned with 1000 island sauce. If you eat one, it is probable you might think it is light on seasoning. However, they are small and finishing all 10 won't be a problem. The flavor builds with each hush puppy, which was smartly done compared to what most seafood places do: give you like two to five hush puppies of large size and high flavoring. The wings, however, used a hot sauce that was mostly vinegar. This ruined the wings for me, and if my stepdad ordered 20, he'd be eating the majority of them. Everything else was top-notch and delicious. Altogether, my family ordered the Fish and Chips, Mahi Sandwich, Fried Catfish Sandwich, Sea Scallop Snack Pack, and the Crab Cake Dinner. Details for each dish in the pictures. On a sidenote, the restroom was okay as in clean and stocked, but not the best-looking restroom I seen. Maybe the "character" could have not be extended to the restroom. Ultimately, I am giving Crab Stop four out of five stars. I do enjoy a good "mom n' pop" place as I prefer to support local and small, but since this is the only time I went, I can't justify a five-star rating until they prove to be consistent. I will be back as there is another park just south of this business that has geocaches that need to be found AND I may also try to hide a traditional letterbox here. But take note for a local seafood stop, this place is good to go.
