This review is long overdue!! I've been going here for over 5 years now. And it's a must stop whenever I am at Colorado Mills. Because there is so many different options, I always switch it up. I never get the same drink. I've either gotten my chai blended or iced and with non-dairy milk. And the staff is always super friendly and helpful. Sometimes I ask them what they would recommend. Was this place couples years ago,coffee was delicious. So today walked around with my husband,come back,coffee is still good,price still very cheap. But service is not good. One flavour coffee almost finished when I filling,coffee is not hot,almost was cold,worker is not understanding what she is doing,couple times repeated my order. I am here at the mall Saturday at 12:11pm and ordered a coffee , out of all 3 dispensers all the coffee is warm and not hot, I approached the girl with the red hair and asked her how fresh this coffee was , and she said it was made about an hour ago. She said she would go in the back and get me some fresh and with in a few seconds she came back. That coffee in the back was not fresh or even hot. I am pretty disappointed in this place and will never return. And for the people that want to try this place . Try a differnt place in the mall. Pissed off customer. read more

This a great spot in the mall. I used to come here quite a bit when I lived closer to this mall. I recently met up with a friend here and was reminded how much I love this spot. All the drinks are delicious. The drinks I've had are on the sweet side so if you're looking for a spicy chai this isn't the place. They usually have samples when you first walk in that I recommend trying. The staff is helpful as well and make great recommendations. read more

This Kataluma Chai is located inside the Colorado Mills Mall. J and I went to this Kataluma Chai on our recent visit, Sunday December 30th 2012. Time : 11:10hrs. J had the "Large" Chai ($5.19) while I opt for the KIWI Italian Soda ($2.95). The staff behind the counter who assist us was friendly and welcoming. The Kiwi Italian Soda was just A-OK for my tastebud coz I so wish, there is more "tartness" of the Kiwi syrup that was in the Italian Soda. This Kataluma Chai also offers various Espresso, Coffee, Sandwiches, Breakfast Burritos and Bagels. There are like 2 or 3 tables and chairs to seat if you intend to have your Chai or Beverages in this Kataluma Chai. One of my favorite places in the mall. Their chai is, I think, an acquired taste, though. It is VERY sweet, and that can take you by surprise. It tastes like an oatmeal cookie in a cup. This is an occasional treat for me because of all the sugar, but it hits the spot. My favorites are the traditional bourbon vanilla and the raspberries and cream. There is a group of older folks who gather here every morning when they open. They are very sweet and are always nice to my kids. The staff are always excellent. Very friendly. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait when they're busy, like there would be anywhere. read more

Really cute little spot situated off the busy treck within The Mills. Great for chai lovers! When I walked it there was no one to greet me as I think the girls were taking care of something in the back. However, as soon as some noticed me, they were quick to take my order. I love anything sweet, so I asked for their recommendations. The girl working the counter readily offered up the Carmel dream. It was ready within a few minutes! It tasted great! I generally like to shop with a hot beverage. So Kataluma is ideally located. I've walked by a couple of times and sampled their chai ice creams or blendy icy chai stuff and I always told myself I'd have to stop in and get something. I shouldn't have waited so long! Every time I've been to the mall and haven't gotten a tasty beverage from here has been an opportunity lost! It's so cute too, who would have thought this would be hidden in the Colorado Mills. The overwhelming chalk art and punny words decorating the store are cute and colorful. The store itself smells enticingly spicy and fabulous. I got a chai tea latte. They make their own chai and it tastes delicious! They have so many flavors to choose from to add to your drink. I stuck with plain, but my friend was so excited to see Irish cream. He got an Irish cream Italian Soda. I'm no Italian soda expert, but this was mighty tasty. Already satisfied with my drink, what could make my experience better? Ummm.... An adorable little sticker adorning my cup! Yes, I'm a sucker for the little things in life! Every time I looked down at my cup to take a sip I saw my cute little round sticker and I would smile. I was at the Mills mall with my dad a few years ago when I first tried a sample, and I loved it so we went in to order full drinks. This Christmas I visited my best friend and she had a whole array of chai mixes from here; we had a cup of Hugs & Kisses and I fell in love all over again. I have since moved up to WA so I was very pleased to find out they deliver. Anyways, shortly after visiting I made my way up to their store to grab my own chai mix! The actual Review: Traditional Spiced: 12/10 freaking love this. My favourite of the ones I've tried. The reason I love chai is for the spices, and this delivers. It's just straight up yummy. Hugs & Kisses: 10/10 will chai again. This is my go-to when the traditional chai mix is sold out, which it often is :(, it is very creamy and cozy and definitely picks me up in the morning. Snowflake: 8/10 will candy cane again. This seasonal blend is very good. I love peppermint, and if you do too then this is for you. Don't get me wrong this mix is delicious and is perfect for Christmas time; however, the peppermint is very strong (duh) so it kind of over powers the chai flavor. Overall flavor: These are very sweet. Every once in a while I will make as instructed, but I often add a bag or two of my Stash chai tea for a more daily drink. In-Store experience: 10/10 pretty epic my dude The employees are always very nice and helpful without being overbearing and breathing down your neck. If you're not sure what to order they always have great suggestions based off of what you like. My favourite blended drink is Caramel Dream. The overall aura of the store itself is very cozy as well. I'm not sure if you're able to sit down with covid restrictions but when you can it feels like you're at home. It's a great place to hang out with friends or read a book. :) read more

So good. They have tons of flavors of Chai and they have uncaffeinated one. They make smoothies, hot, iced, etc. Each time i go to Colorado Mills it's a struggle not to get one. I very often loose the battle and just get a chai. You can also buy the powder and make it at home. You need a nice blender though. They have specials for Christmas and a few holidays, this is a staples for me for gifts as stocking stuffers. They have a little cafe too, i think they have wireless, and it is pretty quiet shop. It's a little haven in that big mall i have to say. They only have 2 stores (this one and one in washington state). I hope they expand and grow, there product is good. Certainly a guilty pleasure of sorts. I don't really drink chai and I personally don't like the samples they put out. I'm sure it's great, the place usually has a nice crowd. The reason I go is the super cheap coffee. They have something called a snickerdoodle blend which essentially is against everything my Yelp page stands for. It's not the best quality coffee I have ever experienced, but it's $1 and it's good to-go. The only serve just a generic black coffee and that snickerdoodle blend, neither are much better than something you might get at McDonald's but they do the job. I admit my affinity for a snickerdoodle coffee is very unusual, but I think that unique hint of cinnamon and sugar is just the right thing to give you that tiny jolt of energy. The customer service is great, I've never had a complaint. I actually get along pretty well with most of the staff. I'm never going to call this place a "must-go" for their coffee, but it's the best value coffee you'll get in the mall. read more

I love the Kataluma Chai store! One of the hand full of original stores that opened at Colorado Mills. This place has such a huge variety to pick from of Chai flavors. I love the Mexican Chocolate Chai but there are many more to pick from. I have also have had their sandwiches in the past when I wanted something more to eat than just nibble on their yummy little pastries that they have to offer. Everyone is always very friendly there too! My friend went there and simply LOVED it and I think he viewed Kataluma Chai as one of the best Chai places he ever went to and he tends to be very picky with what he decides on liking and he nears almost expert status when it comes to sampling Chai so I was not simply won over easily on this one. I want to love any small business trying to do their own thing, but I just can't get into this one. For reference: I like tea, and I like chai where I can taste the spices and the tea with a bit of sweetness. I'm not a Bhakti chai fan, but I also tend to think Tazo is too sweet. I'm not a chai snob or expert in anyway. I found the chai here to be way too sweet (I ordered the traditionally spiced one, hoping it would be the least sweet). They offer a "sugar free" version that has a Splenda like additive plus corn syrup and other sweetening agents ("sugar free" is used loosely, I guess). My biggest issue is that it is impossible to get a dairy free chai, even though they offer dairy free milks, because all of the chai mixtures they use to make their chai contain nonfat milk powder. I am a little perturbed that the employee didn't mention this when I asked what non-dairy milks they had - the only reason I realized there was milk was when I started to feel a bit sick after drinking it. I went to look at the prepackaged bags of chai mix they sell, and the ingredients included nonfat milk powder. It would have been nice to know that when I ordered it (so I could have ordered something else) - but it is partially my fault for not checking, I suppose. It would be nice to have an option for a non-dairy chai. Or at least to know there is dairy in the chai you're ordering. That said, if dairy isn't an issue for you and you just like other "milks," they had soy and almond milk. It seems like they also serve coffee drinks and have food, but I didn't order either. If you like chai on the sweeter and/or flavored side, this is the place for you. read more

I used to work at this mall, and visit Kataluma on my lunch breaks. Even when I would call ahead, I would have to wait for my order. I think the owner is the only person who ever works there and takes care of business things at the expense of her customers. I am on her mailing list. The last time I went to her shop, I left after paying nearly $11 for my lunch. I was in the store for about 5 minutes, browsing, giving her time to finish her phone call. I was her only customer. She did not acknowledge me, or put her caller on hold. I finally went to the register, ready to order a sandwich and a chai tea drink. With the phone in her hand, she took my order, and went back to talking and writing on a paper. Only after taking the next set of customers' orders did she even start making my sandwich and drink. I sat down and received my order about 15 minutes after I placed it. When handing me my sandwich she said, "You wouldn't have to wait if you called your order in." My iced chai drink had a nice flavor, but there was powdered chai mix floating in it which made it grainy. I haven't worked at the mall for over 2 years. I haven't visited the Kataluma shop for over a year. I was in the area for my father's court appearance, and went to the mall on my break. I did not know I was going to eat there until I actually walked past it. I actually had to return to get the bottle of water I paid for and wait some more for her to acknowledge me. What a wonderful break from shopping at the Colorado MIlls Mall! The staff is so friendly and efficient. They have a client appreciation card so you can earn a free drink after 10 purchases. Hot chai is wonderful but the Chocolate Comfort Chai blended with ice cream and topped with whipped cream and glorious toppings is to die for! You can purchase their chai mix and make it at home or just make the trek to Colorado MIlls and play checkers or tic-tac-to with friends while you enjoy their shop! This is a nice treat when at the Colorado Mills. They have delicious blended chai drinks. My favorite is the hugs and kisses. They also sell these drinks in mixes so that you can make them at home. It's on par with pricing compared to other coffee places. They also sell a lot of fun coffee and tea accessories and snacks. If enjoying your beverage there, they offer cute tables and games that can be played. Service is always fast and friendly. read more

This is our favorite place to kick up our feet for a bit and relax whilst shopping at the Colorado Mills Mall, and to sip something sweet (hot or cold) while we do it. The chai is delectable, the staff efficacious, and the ambiance is surprisingly friendly and inviting despite the fact it occupies an interior suite in an enclosed mall. They have an unearthly amount of different chai drink recipes, ranging from "chai" to some frozen blended Mexican mocha chai drink with horchata and sprinkles that I ordered, because who doesn't like cinnamon cocoa chai? It was fantastic. They have a healthy selection of drinks with less sugar (and/or calories), as well as standard teas, as well as some cozy little tables to sit at and escape the sound of the mall outside for a time. The music is always soft and inviting, and you'll be hard-pressed to find anything better to take your mind off frenetic mall shopping that doesn't involve alcohol anywhere nearby. I love this place. If you didn't already know it's inside Colorado Mills Mall. By Off Broadway Shoes and Orange Julius, in "Neighborhood 2" I believe. I usually get the basic or Original hot Chai Tea Latte. It's a cozy area and you have the capability to purchase items. Example: Tea cup sets, measuring spoons, French press, tea options, bath bombs (from local makers in the shape of cupcakes), scones, and other food items. I like that there are so many options. I never feel rushed to make an order. I pray that they stay open for a very long time. I love that they such a great set up in the shop. They also have an "ice cream" type chai's and they aren't gross, but very delicious. Maybe it's a frappuccino? Anyway it's great! Try it out you won't regret it. My mom and I had recently taken a visit to the Colorado Mills Mall. This mall ended up showing me this amazing store that I had no idea about. I am a chai addict at this point in life and when I discovered this store while I was walking around, my dreams came true. I walked inside and the atmosphere and environment of the place was super cute and cozy, while also very welcoming. They have it set up like a coffee shop might look inside, a few chairs and a few tables to hang out at while you enjoy a beverage or snack. The music was very relaxing and provided a calm vibe for guests. They sell their personal chai mix up along the right wall of the place, when you first walk in. Right away, I purchased the original mix they had. I've been using it ever since and I love the way it tastes! The mix packaging provides instructions on how to make a smoothie, cold beverage or hot beverage with the chai, which I find very cool! Besides the original chai being an option, this place offers flavored chai mixes and beverages, which makes it very unique. Some of the flavors I hadn't ever heard of before, like mint chocolate chip I think, or cookies and cream, and hazelnut.
