    ice cream flavors

Kate's ice cream was worth going to after feeling tired from the overall stay here in Portland. All their ice cream is dairy free. I especially enjoyed the ube which was super flavorful for an organic creamery. There was plenty of seats that made great ambience and the service was good since we had to try most of their samples. Will be coming back again soon

This is my second time here at this same location. My sister brought me here because I am vegan. The first time I came I got the strawberry ice cream flavor. This recent time I got the pistachio flavor. I love pistachio ice cream. The ice cream was delicious. The employees were all very kind. The place is small. Not so many places to sit but still seats available. I would definitely keep coming back here.

Yum! Stopped in on a Saturday (in the rain) and had the place to ourselves. Place is super cute and the staff were really helpful. We sampled a bunch of flavors, all of which were great so I had a tough time deciding what to get. I ended up getting vanilla and creme brulee. Wife got cookie monster, which I think I'll get next time. And daughter got red velvet, which she liked too. All in tasty sugar cones. Hard to believe it's all vegan. I'll definitely be back.

Fell in love with their ice cream and would highly recommend for everyone to try, especially since they have unique seasonal flavors! Perfect for those who are vegan or lactose intolerant too! The salted peanut butter brittle is a must-try!The perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness with a light crunch from the brittle. I also enjoyed the strawberry, so so delicious. Phenomenal taste and texture, completely unexpected for non-dairy ice cream to taste just like ice cream!

Kate's is definitely my favorite ice cream shop in Portland. This shop is located on Mississippi so parking can be difficult but there is street parking. They let you sample their ice cream flavors and you can even do a split scoop if you'd like. We got the Rosewater cardamon pistachio - pretty good rode water and pistachio flavor with hint of cardamom, nothing overpowering. Really enjoyed it. Also got a scoop of Ube ice cream which was very creamy and nice Ube flavor. Overall, very good ice cream, I can't even tell that it's vegan.

I'm usually not a big fan of ice cream, but this place really surprised me. The ice cream was absolutely delicious! They have unique flavors, and the portions are very generous. I ordered a single scoop of mint chocolate chip, and it was actually a really big scoop, and sooo tasty. Definitely recommend this place if you're craving good ice cream!

Seriously delicious ice cream! Love the range of classic and unique flavors. I also love that everything is plant-based without sacrificing flavor or creaminess. The pints to go and ice cream sandwiches are perfect and convenient for when you need a sweet treat at home. This place definitely satisfies any dessert craving! Staff is also super friendly and welcoming, and the place is clean.

If you're vegan or gluten free this is a great ice cream option. The flavors do taste pretty coconuty, probably because it's made with coconut cream. If you don't like coconut you might not like some of the flavors. I tried the brownie and cookie dough and both were good but I ended up getting the cookie dough. The mini is 5.25$ which is very overpriced in my opinion. It is the smallest "mini" I have ever seen at any ice cream store. It's for sure less than one scoop of ice cream. Employees are friendly and let you try samples. I love that this place cares about ingredients and is a healthier option although, because of how expensive it is and not having any dietary restrictions I would just go to a normal ice cream place if I want ice cream.

Incredible vegan ice cream I love being able to come here and eat everything and not have to worry about taking my lactose pills and worry about a bathroom nearby. Delicious flavors, employees are always super nice and friendly, and the inside is so cute! I've never had a bad experience here. I find myself wanting to take everyone here because even if you're not vegan or lactose intolerant, you don't leave disappointed, the ice cream is stellar. I'm a huge ice cream fan and Kate's makes me so happy I don't have to suffer for my ice cream addiction.

Kate's Ice Cream is incredible, and I wish there were a fully vegan scoop shop like that close to me. There are so many different flavors every day, including some seasonal ones, and the people working there let us sample as many as we needed to decide on what to get (and they were all so good that it was a very hard choice). They also have some seating, which was good for us because we shared a triple scoop. The flavors we ended up getting were pandan (seasonal), marionberry cobbler, and cookie monster (a very blue ice cream with chocolate chip cookies and Oreos). All three were excellent, and my favorite ended up being my kid's choice - cookie monster. All the ice cream was so rich and creamy that I kept forgetting that it was vegan, and panicking that I forgot to take my Lactaid pills, before happily remembering that I had no need for them here. Fantastic place for ice cream, and I can't wait to go back!

WHEN: Fri @6pm It's really hot out and we just had dinner. This place seems very popular so I thought I give it a shot, even though it's vegan ice cream. What REALLY pulled me in is that they serve PANDAN flavor! I'm always sucker whenever I see this flavor. I'm sold. Here's the pricing for ice-cream scoops: Mini - $5.25 Single - $6 Split - $6.25 Double - $11 Trio - $15 I went for the SPLIT because it's like a single but you get to pick 2 flavors. So it's like 2 small scoops. Here's what I chose: PANDAN - I was to confident. I chose without tasting first, but it's okay. The pandan wasn't as strong as I would have liked but I don't regret getting it. STRAWBERRY - Strawbery ice cream with chunks of the actual fruit! So good! The texture was so smooth and very creamy. I would only have known it to be vegan at all! I'm impressed. I totally get the hype. This place is legit and they have wonderful flavors of variety. I came back 2 days later and got a MINI scoop of the BLUE MOON, which they say tastes like Froot Loops, which I it does! I love the color and and the texture is so delightful. It wasn't too sweet, which is usually my concern when anything ins a cereal flavor. Oh yeah, they have lots of options for cones: WAFFLE - $2.50 SUGAR - $1.25 CAKE - $1.25 BOWL - I think $2.50 as well since it's waffle. Thank you Kate for the quality vegan ice cream!

Kate's is a revelation. My family has a mix of lactose intolerance and egg allergies so finding a fully vegan ice cream shop is always incredibly exciting. Every member of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and they all really seemed to enjoy working there which is always a good start. The store has a few freezers filled with to-go pints and treats, and there are a few tables and high top counters to sit at and enjoy your ice cream. As for the ice cream, there are not enough superlatives to describe how good it is. All three flavors we had were so rich and creamy that we often thought we needed to take our lactose pills before remembering that it was somehow vegan. I would be amazed if anyone could even tell the difference between this and non-vegan ice cream.

If I was a billionaire, I'd invest in this shop to open a second location by me in Maine. Small batch and homemade, these ice creams are luscious and delicious. They are not sickly sweet, and they don't need to be. They really let the flavors shine on their own. The thai iced tea is my favorite flavor, though the fresh banana is up there too. This trip already I have visited once IRL and later I ordered a shake from them for delivery to my hotel, which was great! No drop in quality there and they drew a cute little note. The service has always been amazing throughout the years. Got to meet THE Miss Oz herself one visit too! Scoops or in shake form, it's a must visit when we find ourselves back in PDX!

The vibe appears to be one of modern appearances, with old-school "ice cream parlor" ambiance (50s and 60s music is what is played, and I appreciate this). Variety of flavors is wide, and there are fresh cookies available. Prices are on the high side (location, though), the interior is very clean, and staff is very friendly and helpful. The cookies were disappointing, but not bad. Ice cream was on the better side of average, but is nothing groundbreaking. I definitely recommend stopping in for a fun experience if you're in the neighborhood.

Ok.... disappointments in order of appearance with the disclosure, up front that we were visiting them in their last 30 minutes open.... having no intention whatsoever to eat our treats there but also figuring we'd have time to try stuff, get stuff and be ok. First disappointment - we both really were looking forward to trying, and assuming we would be eating the flavor they've been promoting - peanut butter butterscotch. Sounds so good right? Well we wouldn't know, because both the gals behind the counter almost mocked us for even thinking that they would have it available. It was a weird flex... truly they didn't even have a marker for it or language saying they were out of it - they just said it was not available in a weird way. I asked permission to try a few flavors... and gal number 1 give me an enthusiastic yes , which I appreciated. I'm sorry but I always want to try so many things, realizing that with each try, most flavors are too much - or would be too much if I got an order of it. I try to only taste 2-3 but almost always end up ordering the one I don't try which is vanilla (yep, that is how I roll). I tried the boysenberry which was incredible but, too much. I then tried the mint chocolate and confirmed I still don't like theirs (I had forgot it very punchy mint, more like mouthwash than fro yo) but I always try it because I keep hoping they will change the recipe. Soooo... gal 1 went away leaving gal 2. It genuinely felt like we just got handed to the bouncer... I honestly felt afraid to try anything else because she immediately was very aggressive... like "What else" isn't a question but an order to GTFO. This intensified as my friend had questions because she's vegan, so making sure things are vegan and she was curious about getting a shake - more going for a blizzard situation. Gal 2 started lecturing her about flavors saying she was interested in too many (because M&Ms & vegan butterfingers apparently ate a ridiculous ask?). She was also saying it would be chunky - isn't that the point? My friend asked if she had had a shake there and was given a very stern NO. It was just a bit insane... like, I appreciate you are maybe wanting to close early but WOW. I said , I just want vanilla thank you... and I figured I would just order Oreos on top - again, simple. She then lectured me that they don't have that and was trying to add cookie dough... ummm... have you had an Oreo? That is a completely different flavor, texture and thing .... and no... I started asking if there was any fresh fruit or something and she seemed confused at the question... I walked almost to the register and saw marion berry compote. Yes, that's all please angry person... my friend took her time ordering while I practically ran out. I was just super uncomfortable. She had perfect eyebrows I really wanted to compliment her on but it has been a bit since I felt such strong GTFO vibes. I assume maybe she had a spicy customer before us earlier but eek. It's so true about every encounter. I'll definitely remember this one as being pretty unpleasant. My friend joked that gee, her shake was delicious even though it was apparently made with pure hate.
