Walked in off a whim and totally loved this place, nice outdoor seating and theme. Service was nice, we got to try flavors and everything was delicious. Pricing is fair and the serving sizes are as well. I can't wait to come back in the summer when I can enjoy the patio space!

This is run by the same people who own Campana, a really good Italian restaurant in NE.

The piles of gelato can be seen through the window, calling you inside. The menu has a few staples and a few seasonal items. They forage for the seasonal ingredients or work directly with local farms, we love supporting small local businesses! They also have a dairy free menu, so lots of options for everyone. Everything I've tried has been exceptional and super flavorful. You can really taste the flavor, even something as subtle as blueberry. They often have combinations of fruits and herbs which are fun to try. Despite loving everything I've tried, I get the same thing every time. I get chocolate and hazelnut, the perfect combination. The chocolate is dark and rich, but not too sweet. The hazelnut is nutty perfection (and I'm not really a nut person). The combo is absolutely divine - think nutella or baci. You really truly can't go wrong here, we are so lucky to have this in our city!

My adult children got hooked and enjoyed them every time they visited. If you haven't been here, what is wrong with you? It's the end of July and a stack of April's issue of Portland Monthly's still in the window, so I…read morekind of figured they were closed. I just hoped that wasn't the case. Change comes for us all, and just because I can remember a time when Esparza's still made chile rellenos on the corner of Ankeny, Tapalaya served up nachos etouffee, Montelupo was a dive bar without a name (some called it Red Flag), Fonda Rosa was the lone margarita place, and the only pizza shop handing out slices was a Pizzacato next to Starbucks that was never open after Chopsticks karaoke, that doesn't mean it all had to stay that way. But I was convinced the families would keep Staccato Gelato around forever. Personally, I loved having a place to come after a movie or dinner where I could pair scoops (was really liking a stracciatella/pistachio combo, with birthday cake/cookies and cream a close second), get an espresso without waiting in line (even City State backs up a bit), or sample the most underrated little donut in town--the star of the coffee beer & donut festival each February. But this one wasn't about me. This was about the families who came here after school or events and made the place feel like its own corner of the neighborhood. It was groups of parents who had a place to corral kids for a bit, packs of pre-teens and teenagers learning to navigate neighborhood stores... and a ton of people running into each other when they were back from various trips during spring, summer, and holiday break. It was a lovely little community, and I'm sure losing that had to hurt. I thank the owners for giving this corner of Portland a decent third place to call its own. We'll get coffee and gelato again, but you gave people a cozy little home that's going to be hard to replicate.

They should be open according to yelp from noon to 10pm, I was here yesterday at 2pm and today at 3pm. Closed! And that is also stupid since the fifty licks store just a couple blocks down closed for good. Means if they are smart with advertising they could get those customer. Well for that you would need a reliable time frame to be open so that even regular customer not scrapping their nose on your windows. Disappointed so much I'll take two stars off from my regular five star rating for them.

If I was a billionaire, I'd invest in this shop to open a second location by me in Maine. Small batch and homemade, these ice creams are luscious and delicious. They are not sickly sweet, and they don't need to be. They really let the flavors shine on their own. The thai iced tea is my favorite flavor, though the fresh banana is up there too. This trip already I have visited once IRL and later I ordered a shake from them for delivery to my hotel, which was great! No drop in quality there and they drew a cute little note. The service has always been amazing throughout the years. Got to meet THE Miss Oz herself one visit too! Scoops or in shake form, it's a must visit when we find ourselves back in PDX!

The vibe appears to be one of modern appearances, with old-school "ice cream parlor" ambiance (50s and 60s music is what is played, and I appreciate this). Variety of flavors is wide, and there are fresh cookies available. Prices are on the high side (location, though), the interior is very clean, and staff is very friendly and helpful. The cookies were disappointing, but not bad. Ice cream was on the better side of average, but is nothing groundbreaking. I definitely recommend stopping in for a fun experience if you're in the neighborhood.
