Reasonably priced. Nice staff. Cool atmosphere. Typical bar food. Overall, good place to go with your friends for a drink.

It's small and very divey but I've enjoyed it every time I've come by. Kareoke was fun.

Now called Hi Dive (or High Dive) Everything is better. Everything is cleaner. This is the place you want to hang out at. Divey? Yeah. But that means everyone will be happy to see you and meet you to your new "home" bar. New ownership that is passionate about you loving the bar. Can't do better than that! read more

I walked into this bar and the moment I entered I noticed it smelled like an ashtray. It was so bad that it caused me to get a headache. It was all I could focus on. I noticed a window cracked with electrical cords hanging out the window. I'd recommend finding another solution because it must be causing the smoke to come in from outside. Cigarette smoking has been illegal in bars for many years, you'd think they smoke in the bar because it was so bad. I'm a former smoker and normally not even bothered by cigarette smoke. There were no toilet seat covers in the bathroom. It didn't appear they were out of them but looked like they didn't normally have any. There wasn't a toilet paper holder on the wall. read more

I came into Katie J's last week while I was waiting for my boyfriend to get off of work. I had a couple of hours to kill and was looking for a bar that had Medalist dart boards - so I came to Katie J's! This place is definitely a dive, hole-in-the-wall type of place. It was clean, but it wasn't anything fancy at all. They have Touch Tunes for music, pool tables, and some flat screen televisions as well as the dart boards. Their boards are definitely older and need some maintenance done, but they did the job for me. There's one that's right by the front door and in front of the bar which is kind of a weird set up, and there's also one tucked into the back corner of the bar. The bartender was nice and the crowd here was super friendly as well. I ended up making friends with a few of the older regulars here before I left, which was cool! Cheap beers, too! This might be one of the divey-ist dive bars that I've ever been to, and that's just fine. I've almost always lived in Renton and have passed by Katie J's probably over a thousand times but have never actually been inside (probably because of just how divey it looks). I stopped in with a coworker (who absolutely loves dive bars) not too long ago, and lo and behold, she fell in love with this place. From my perspective, I saw a rather dingy but well kept bar, with very few patrons inside except ourselves, and what looked like a few rarely used pool tables and dart boards. However, my friend saw a quiet bar with affordable drinks that she could go to on some nights undisturbed, and an opportunity to invite friends along to play pool and have a good time without getting in anyone's way (how hard is it to play pool in a bar these days without jabbing an unsuspecting bar patron in their rib cage??). A lesson: We all see the same things differently, and that's A-OK in my book ;). read more

This is my kind of dive bar. Great people and I mean people. Not only are the staff pretty darn amazing, but the clients here are friendly and open to have a good time as well. The prices are very reasonable and the ambiance of the place really brings me comfort. I just visited once out of the blue on a Google recommendation and without knowing what to expect. I had a great time and it was easy to integrate into this place. Love the staff, love the pricing, love the customers, love their theme, and loved their events offerings. Yes, it's a bit of a dive but that is the theme of the place. read more

This place is a sore eye coming down to Renton. Haven't been here in over a year. We have friends that liked going here but I don't go by choice. Employees here need to uplift this place and clean it up make it more appealing or close it down. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place! read more

After reading the "description" by the owners, I truly have to chime in here. Beer pong? Live music? Drink specials? Steak? $1 Beer? Um, negative, Ghost Rider. Don is the only bartender worth going to see. This is not a fancy place, so don't expect to go into a Red Robin type of atmosphere. They should just call the place what it is - "Katie J's" - and take off the "Bar & Grill". read more

It looks like a scary ramshackle place on the outside but inside is clean, lots of room, pool tables and darts, TV's, etc. The people inside are really friendly and the drinks are cheap and good. Don't judge a book by its tattered cover :) read more

Do not come here for their all you can eat wings!! They are so salty that we could only eat one order. They come out in orders of 5 and take forever to get. Not such a good deal and they taste horrible. We asked for wings without sauce and the bartender refused. The sauce is just horrible. I love wings but could not stomach more than 5 of those. read more

It's our favorite dive bar in Renton. People are really nice and friendly. Good place to get a beer and a burger and watch sports.

Cool little dive bar, in classic Renton bar style they pour fat and cheap drinks so no complaints there.

Waiter/bartender was extremely rude the whole time, despite our polite behavior. Most of the items on the menu weren't actually available to order. In fact, she even told us "we don't really do food"... This place is not very clean at all, but an ok place if you just want to drink for cheap. 2 stars for cheap drinks. read more

Went to Katie J's on a friend's daughters suggestion. Loved it! Brought back a happy hour group of about 15. They were super accommodating and made sure they had the staff to handle us and our food orders. The food was typical bar fare. The drinks were tasty and cheap. My favorite thing about the place is the Mon-Wed bartender and the Skeeball! They have darts and pool too. Looks a little shady but well worth the time to stop in.
