    Chicken terayaki
    Jonathan N.

Just as the current rating reflects, this place has a decent menu and pretty good teriyaki chicken but nothing to write home about. Service seems lacking and honestly they could use some service etiquette training as it's not a warm and inviting first impression. I mean, here is the deal. When a customer comes in to spend their cash money ( yes, they only take cash - FYI), the ownership and staff should be happy to have the business and should show that. As for the atmosphere, this is a walk in and order operation with some nice tables to eat at outside in the nice little courtyard like setting. Prices seem reasonable for the Island as well. I can only hope the management takes these reviews into account and the feedback shared as it will only help their business. Best of luck to them.

It's in the side alley by the courtyard of hotel metropole. Hidden gem. Not by the bowling side

Loved it. We ordered take out for the hotel. My husband had a philly chicken cheese and he loved it. I had two chicken tacos with rice and beans. Really loaded and diced chicken meat. The taco sauce was tasty and not spicy. I'm sure they have different kinds. We brought back an extra ham and cheese sandwich cold sandwich for a midnight snack. Both sandwiches came with Cheetos and chips. I heard from our hotel they have great Korean pork and locals fav spot. We will be back.

One of the best options on the island for healthy food at mainland prices. My 5 star review reflects the value based on available options. Let's face it. Most of the restaurants on Catalina are overpriced and have few healthy options. This place has Mexican and Asian meals including teriyaki with veggies for $10, as well as salads. I worked on the island for a couple of months without coming here based on the negative reviews. I finally walked past it on my last day on the island and tried it out. Wish I'd come here sooner. I'd probably be a little lighter. Pay no mind to the negative reviews by wannabe O.C. housewives.

Katie's special. Don't forget to ask for the Asian hot sauce.

This place is super underrated. We've been in Catalina for 4 days and tried almost every restaurant in Avalon and this is my second favorite next to mr nings. Probably the only two places in the city that you can find an actual serving size of cooked vegetables with your meal.

Teriyaki chicken with fried rice and veggies

This restaurant is a fusion of Mexican and Asian cuisine influence. They have tacos, to tortas, to teriyaki chicken, to Korean bbq beef. Plenty of options. My husband and I visited the island with some friends. We came across this restaurant while walking around. Door stays open so you can smell the aroma from the food which is what attracted us to the restaurant along with it being different from other restaurants on the island. Staff was friendly. I caught an error the cashier made on my bill, but he corrected it at the register. I ordered fried rice ($4.00) with veggies (upcharge of $3.50 for the veggies which us ridiculous.. But things on the island are more expensive due to imports so I moved past it.) My friend ordered the teriyaki chicken that came with rice and veggies. He had more veggies than I did on my plate, and it's a veggie plate that I was up charged for. I only had cabbage, peas, and carrots. He had those plus onions, water chestnuts, baby corn, and celery. RIDICULOUS. ***Note to cook or owner. When a customer orders veggie plate GIVE THEM ALL THE VEGGIES. I understand that the cook probably cooked everything together, but he/she needs to portion CORRECTLY especially if a customer is upcharged for the veggies. Also food needs salt. I don't like much salt, but I had to add soy sauce (which I don't usually do) to give the food flavor. I tasted my friends teriyaki chicken and my other friends spicy chicken which both also needed salt. Please note portions not accurate in picture. They give a good portion size. We had been eating the food already when I took the picture when I noticed I was missing veggies.

I can't say it's the worst but it surely isn't the best. The positive: reasonably priced, you can get a meal for less than $10, big portions for your money & located in the courtyard behind my hotel. The "not so" good: I found my rice meal to be bland & without the spicy seasoning it would have no taste. My friend got the vegan option & LOVED her food. So for non-meat eaters, come by & check out the spicy tofu with veggies. Due to its location & price, is give it another try since I loved the hotel we stayed at.

The food was pretty bad. The teriyaki chicken lacked sauce and the spicy pork was way too salty. Even the school lunches taste better -_-

Absolute Gem in San Bernardino!…read more From the moment you walk into this clean, quiet, and relaxing spot right across from CSUSB, you feel right at home. The food is on another level. We ordered: * Mongolian Beef: This was easily some of the best I've ever had. The beef was incredibly tender, perfectly seasoned, and sautéed with fresh carrots, bell peppers, and onions in a special sauce that hits all the right notes. * Vermicelli Combination: You can tell everything is made to order and uses high-quality ingredients. Their spring rolls with rice vermicelli and peanut hoisin sauce are fresh, light, and packed with flavor. What truly made the night, though, was the phenomenal owner working behind the counter. She was welcoming and positive and very helpful. The service here is immaculate--the staff is so friendly and welcoming, and the owner clearly takes immense pride in the business. Our food came out super fast, and the portions were very generous for the price. If you're looking for authentic flavors and a unique dining experience in San Bernardino, this is the place to go!.

We sat down near the entrance to get some of the breeze from outside. The decor of the restaurant is nice, with lots of Thai-inspired decor. Now let's get to the good stuff! The food here is amazing. I ordered a hot pot soup that was simply perfect. The amount of spice was just enough, and I love hot pots because they keep my soup hot. My husband ordered a beef rice bowl and added shrimp to it. The rice bowl was also so delicious. To go along with my meal, I ordered Thai boba tea, and I loved it! The portions are generous, so we had leftovers, which we were happy about! I definitely want to go back to try some of their shaved ice; it looks amazing. I can't wait to go back to try other items on their menu.

It seemed to take a while till someone brought us water and another little while till our orders were finally taken. We requested two Thai iced teas which were quite delicious with coconut milk subbed for the cows milk. We told the server we would be sharing our orders. We shared a vegan hot pot and a Pad See Ew with chicken. The hot pot consisted of broccoli, shredded cabbage, carrots, steamed tofu, corn, udon noodles, two vegan dumplings, sliced squash, spinach and baby bok choy. Veggies were tender crisp although the broth was rather bland. The Pad See Ew was a bit disappointing. While the sauce was tasty, the broccoli and carrots tender crisp, the chicken was not only dry but quite tough and chewy. I must add, as were sharing these dishes, the server neglected to bring additional plates and a serving ladle for the soup. So my hubby had to go inside find someone and request the serving utensils for both dishes, plates and eating utensils for sharing. So we waited again. Not sure what folks ate that gave a five star review . What we experienced fell a couple notches below that rating. Would I return? Probably not, there are better options in Ventura.

One of my favorite things about this place is how easy it is. You order on the kiosk, grab a seat, and your food usually comes out within like 10-15 minutes. The inside has a lot of seating and even games like Jenga which makes it feel like a fun spot to hang out for lunch. I didn't interact much with service since I used the kiosk, but the worker upfront was really friendly and even brought my takeout to my table. This time I tried the Dynamite Crawfish Bowl and the Dynamite Fries. The bowl comes with crawfish, rice, dynamite sauce, eel sauce, seaweed, sesame seeds, and pickled radish on top. The fries normally come with sweet potato fries but I swapped mine for regular fries because I just wasn't feeling sweet potato that day. The fries were honestly kind of underwhelming. It was basically fries with dynamite sauce and only a few pieces of garlic confit, which was the part I was most excited for. They weren't bad, just really underwhelming. I honestly think the sweet potato fries probably would've worked better with the flavors. The crawfish bowl though was really good. The crawfish had this slight smoky flavor to it like it was lightly torched and they give you a lot in each bite. The rice was fluffy and cooked perfectly and the pickled radish on top helped cut through all the richness from the sauces. Everything worked really well together flavor wise. My only complaint is that halfway through the bowl the flavors started blending together a little too much and it gets boring, but overall it was still super satisfying and filling. Definitely still one of my favorite quick lunch spots in Carmel Mountain and somewhere I'd bring friends because the menu has so many good options. Their dessert menu also sounds insane so I already know I'll be back.
