It takes forever to get an appointment for pet grooming. I called in April and the earliest slot available was in July!

When you love your pet (and who doesn't?), it's always nice to have that special store you can go to and know you'll find what you are looking for. Even if you are looking for sound advice or to do a price comparison with an online retailer. Since we moved to Monroe Township in Feb 0f 2020, Katie's has been that spot for us. Katie's has everything you could possibly need for dogs, cats, rabbits, fish, and lizards. We have always been dog people, and we like knowing that the staff at Katie's Pet Depot is knowledgeable and friendly. It is nice to be greeted at the door by store personnel. It is very simple, but it makes a difference to customers. When I walk into Katie's with or without our dog, I always get a nice welcome. Of course, when I am with our dog, I get an even better welcome, but I am used to that by now as it happens anywhere else that we go. He is just more popular than I am. Our dog eats small bags of kibble because he eats a mostly homemade diet which we supplement with kibble. For that reason, we only use about one small bag each month. Katie's has an exchange policy on dog food: if your dog doesn't like the flavor or brand you buy, you can exchange it for something else. That's good to know when you're buying premium dog food. It is good to know that if our sometimes picky dog doesn't want to eat something, we can always exchange it for something else. We have never had to do so until today. I returned a bag of food that had about 1.5 cups taken out of it. When I walked in with it, I didn't have to explain anything. I was greeted and asked if I had an exchange. That simple. I said that I did have an exchange and went to get a different flavor of the same brand of food that our dog has been eating since he came to us from the shelter in January. I brought the bag up to the front to do the exchange, and it was that easy. We trust the staff at Katie's to help us do what is best for the pets we love. This review is for the grooming only. I wish I could give this place negative stars. Absolutely horrible. Had a 10am appointment. Doors were locked until 10 exactly. The groomer came in at 10 so she wasn't ready. The grooming salon looks like a torture chamber. It's tiny and messy. I don't know where any of these positive reviews came from. Maybe for small dogs it's fine. The groomer needed us to stay with our dog and get her on the table to cut her nails. After the nail cutting she left us with our dog to go somewhere else in the store for at least 10 minutes. This is after we were rudely interrupted by her daughter coming into the grooming salon to let her know a Guinea pig was here for a nail cut. She comes back in after over 10 minutes while our dog is freaking out in this room to write a manual bill and brings it out so it seems like she was helping other customers. Then she needs our help getting our dog into the metal tub. Then said ok you can leave. And we're like what, didn't give us any other info. We had to ask for it. Her grooming isn't even over yet and I immediately regret leaving her there. For reference, my dog is a rescue mix that's 70lbs and the sweetest puppy. She's never had any issues getting groomer elsewhere. Side note: did not explore the actual store. I like that they have cats that live there but it's a massive distraction in the grooming salon. read more

Ditch the big chain stores and get A+ customer service from this large selection family owned local store. Delivery done by the owner to surrounding local towns! All the staff is friendly and very helpful. We have four dogs who all have different medical and nutritional needs. Plus we sometimes foster -- Katie's always has what we need or will help us find it and get it to us. We can shop in person, by phone, or online and know we are also supporting local! read more

I mainly come here to buy dog food (specifically the stella and chewy's dinner patties). Sometimes our puppy comes and enjoys this place like no tomorrow. Honestly, the big sell for me is the pricing. The patties are effectively the same price in store than at Amazon. As a result, I'll always spend the 5-10 minutes to drive there and buy some dog food! From the minute you walk in yo're immediately greeted but not always by the awesome and knowledgeable employees there... trust me they will always nearby and not hovering and try to push a sale, they're there with a smile and ready to help when you need it! Oh and that greater I meantioned was their free roaming store cat! And if you like her then you're going to LOVE the cats and kittens they have there for adoptio! Not a cat person? We were in the store picking up some items and mentioned that we were having trouble trimming our cats nails. The woman at the register told us they provide that service. Even our vet said that trimming our cat's nails was a challenge. The women in the store were wonderful with our cat and we highly recommend them!!!! read more

Moved from Arizona to New Jersey. I've always avoided taking my dog to the groomer because every single experience I've had the groomer just does what they want and completely ignores what I ask for. They try to assert how they feel the dog should look and make excuses when the pet doesn't look how you want it to. I decided I needed to get my dog groomed regardless because I'm traveling. so I said I'll give it another try. My groomer was Julie, and she is great to work with. Julie is a carefully listener, and she'll work with you step by step to give your dog a perfect look! She's patient and skilled with her hands. I'm very happy with the cut, the experience, and the customer service! I will be returning. read more

Gross. Only go there if you want to smell a zoo, see sad cats and get ripped off. The place smelled so bad when I walked in and the prices were ridiculous. $12 for a cat toy that I can buy at any other pet store for half the price. And cat litter for $18 and it's $11 at the ShopRite. I am all for supporting local independent stores, as the staff there told me they were repeatedly, but I refuse to be ripped off in the process. The girl at the counter seemed flustered and disorganized and unhappy. And while they house cats there for adoption which I guess is great, I cant help but wonder if those cats get any time allowed out of those cages, so I was super sad when i left there... read more

This is my go to pet store as it's a local pet shop. Customer service is great and the folks who work here are super helpful. They usually have adoptable cats, sometimes puppies, and rabbits! [ Please note, rabbits are not starter pets and require a lot of work and care. Don't buy them for Easter unless you will take care of them for at least 8-10 years. ] I like to say hello to the cute bunnies and guinea pigs. They are well taken care of and hopefully they will go to a very good home. They carry my favorite brand of rabbit food, the Oxbow organic and their Care Fresh Litter is $19.99, cheaper than Pet Smart or Pet Co. Best thing is that they have a reward system and you can earn $5 after spending $100 over time. Doesn't seem like a lot, but you're supporting a local store and community. They have a great selection of pet items for furry, feathered, or cold blooded friends. The reptiles, birds, and fishes are at the back of the store. They also offer grooming which is nice for the dog owners. Overall, I enjoy shopping here and look forward to my next trip to say hello to the bunnies! read more

This wouldn't be a pet store I would regularly venture to, for 2 reasons: selection and price. However it was my dog's bday and thanks to Yelp, I found a pet store close to where I was at the time, and that wasn't one of those big name chains. I was specifically looking for and hoping they would have fresh baked doggie treats specifically for a doggie birthday. The store is kept very clean and well stocked. Vince, who I believe to be the manager or owner of this business, was extremely helpful. I'm selective when buying toys and treats for my dog and stray away from anything made in China due to the amount of recalls that exist. (A lot of pet owners will most likely agree with me on that) He knew the store like the back of his hand and pointed out all the toys made in the USA. He gave me a lot of useful info and now I feel even more pro when shopping for my pup. I bought a treat releasing toy that was way more than I wanted to spend (15$) but because Vince was so nice, I felt it was worth the purchase. Dog food selection is limited if you are looking for the big name brands, however if you're looking for grain-free (THE GOOD STUFF) you can find it here. This place also has fish and aquarium supplies, and food, toys, supplies for cats and smaller animals like rabbits. They also had a few cats for adoption chillen in cages by the entrance. The baked goods are in the glass case at the register and they have a nice selection from cookies to cupcakes. And I scored a dog bone shaped cookie that said HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (3$) read more

Very good local pet store for unique and healthy food items for your pet! They even sell good quality high reviewed pet grooming supplies that you'd find on amazon like shampoo. In his last days, we were feeding my dog the primal freeze dried chicken nuggets along with goats milk and this was the only local store that was able to provide this food whenever we needed it right away. He enjoyed it very much and he also enjoyed those very special cookies they sell that are very safe for dogs. For the items that I'd see online and that weren't in stock, the store manager also offered to special order them for me. In his last days, his meals were from Katie's pet depot so I am very thankful to this store and the staff, which was always very helpful. God bless and keep doing what you guys are doing. read more

If I could rate no stars I would my dog has always bin happy but when I took her to this groomer she came home with front feet issue when I went to look at her feet she yelped and tried to bite me .. her feet were red and razor burn . My dog never would bite me until this trip . Btw the people there are rude and overcharge . Do not bring ur fur babies to this groomer they are horrible to dogs and now I have problems with my dogs paws because of this place . read more

Five stars because: it carries the best dog food brands and the customer service is top notch, helping to make every visit a joyful one. When I first got my dog I did a ton of research about different food brands. I wanted the best for my puppy but more than that, I never wanted to be in the situation that unfortunately you hear of in the news; that a dog food brand had a recall and something horrible happened to dogs who had eaten it. During my research I was actually shocked and discouraged at just how corrupt and irresponsible many dog food companies are. Two brands that stood out to me were Fromm Family Foods and Orijen/Arcana. The only problem is that neither of these brands are sold in major retailers, so my search for a specialty dog store began. This is how I eventually stumbled upon Katie's and I've been coming here ever since. Every time I come here my dog is welcomed and loved. Even when she is overly hyper or being just a bit too friendly. I love how caring and helpful all the employees have been, and not just the owners. Every time I buy a bag of food they always offer to carry it to my car for me. I really appreciate having this option. And you can tell they actually want to help you and just aren't offering lip service, as sometimes I decline and they always repeat their offer and double check that I will be okay. Also I appreciate how tidy and clean the store is. Another plus! They have awesome rewards programs and I believe these are carried down from the manufacturers. For me and my dog, every 12th bag of Fromm is free! Also from time to time there is rewards credit in my account and they always let me know during check out. Just got a five dollars discount at my last visit! Yay! I don't buy all of my dog's products here. I'm an Amazon Prime lover and get some dog accessories on there so I can't vouch for all items in this store. But when it comes to food and snacks, I prefer to buy it here for freshness sake, and me and my dog always enjoy it every time we do! read more

My appointment was 1st of the day and I had to wait since the groomer was a little late. But she did a great grooming job on my dog. He is a chow husky mix and has a lot of undercoat. He is molting now and needs a lot of brushing to get it all out. She brushed and groomed him so good as nobody done before. I would recommend grooming service @ Katie's Pet Depo with all my heart. Love Katie's Pet Depot! The staff is amazing and always friendly. Lisa is our dog's groomer and you can tell by the way she greets/handles our dog that she loves her job. She's the best, never disappointed when we pick up our pooch. Natasha is also great and has an awesome memory, we go in there and she remembers my whole family and with such detail I feel like we're the only customers. I absolutely love Katie's! They have such an amazing selection of high end pet food that is hard to find anywhere else. I always buy orijen at Katie's, and keep coming back because they have a rewards card to get a free bag after so many purchases. Also, their dog chew selection is amazing! From freeze dried treats, to various bully sticks, dried out fish, etc. In general, all their treats are high quality, and usually American made/sourced. Twice a month, VIP petcare has a clinic set up at Katie's and they are also fabulous! Low cost for vaccines, flea, heart worm, and tick medication, microchips are low cost. They have saved me tons and are always friendly. I recommend Katie's to every dog parent I know, and they always walk out of their doors as believers! read more

I had my 6 month old goldendoodle groomed by Lisa. This was my second time taking Toby to Lisa for grooming. She does an amazing job. More than satisfied with the way Toby looks. My Vet was even impressed and said she did excellent job plucking hairs from his ears. She said most groomers won't even do that and said she did a great job. Do not take your pet here to be groomed. The Asian lady who grooms the pets is mean and yells at the animals. She was wacking the dogs ears with the brush because of the knots. When the poor dog didn't respond to her immediately she would yell at the dog and wack the dog even harder. Only reason I didn't confront her right away. I know it would have ended up with the Police there. I really really hope the owner reads this and removes her today! This person should NOT be around animals. She is abusive and traumatizes the poor animals. DO NOT go here!!!! read more

First of all, I like this store for two reasons. It's small, and it's not a chain.. While I don't like this store as much as PetSmart, it still sells great food, and toys. But, my animals love to eat, so I got about maybe ten cans of food, and my animals love it. They don't have many animals for adoption, which was a little bit of a disappointment, PetSmart's adopted pets are there every day. This place may have, but could easily be selling out. So, maybe there is a plus there. Not hugely staffed, but it's small, so I would hate if it was fully staffed. The store is very clean for a pet store. Most pet stores I go to are a piece of crap. Here, it's clean, small, and good things to buy at good prices. read more
