    Shrimp and steak mofongo
    Michelle T.

Went down a Thursday night for restaurant week! We were one of two parties there which was surprising! Started out with the ham and cheese empanada and it was very crispy and savory. Our main course was the steak and shrimp mofongo which was so garlicy in the best way and I hope they make this as a regular menu item! It was so filling and I ate every last bite. We ended the course with the dessert flight which was just ok. Service was very nice and our waiter was very attentive! The restaurant was decorated beautifully, was a perfect girls dinner date. When the mofongo is back on the menu, I'll be back!

Empanadas were light ,crispy and delicious. Hibiscus draft was mold and refreshing. Totally filled me up so I ordered the octopus to go, but not without sampling. Tender and tasty. Service was courteous and helpful. As a solo diner it was much appreciated. Will rerun solo or with friends. Ambiance quaint indoor and outdoor seating. Go before Or after a movie.

First time going to this restaurant, atmosphere is good, specially the outdoor area, it is super cute. We were a party of five and couple of them order cocktails, they were bad, tasted like water. Food is like tapas but in my opinion the taste does not fit the price. Service was ok. So many other places with better food, won't be back.

My sister and I enjoyed our lunch, great tapas place, we love trying different small plates, forgot to take pictures ugh, we had pappas ajillo, pincho de pollo, fish taco, tinga taco, churros and cafe de ollo. Everything was excellent quality, the ambiance is fun, very nice, our waiter was very welcoming and attentive, we'll be back.

Absolutely loved EVERYTHING! Finally a good local Latin restaurant that carry's so many options! We came in on a Saturday evening without reservations and they were able to seat us. A little girl approached the table to pour water and say hello. She was by far the sweetest thing at the restaurant; so sweet, so polite and gave great suggestions about the menu. It's family owned and full of flavor and color around the restaurant. Below is everything we got and my ratings for each item. 10/10- Complimentary Chips and Salsa 10/10- Beef Empanadas I enjoyed the beef more because it was properly seasoned. 5/10- Chicken Empanadas Didn't love these tbh. I feel if the chicken was shredded instead of cubes I would have enjoyed it more and it wasn't as seasone 8/10- Queso de Cabra It was the goat cheese dip, it was a little different but enjoyable to share. 10/10- Tinga Arepa Loved the arepa, even though it's mini, it's heavy. 10/10 Asada Taco The little girl suggested it and it hit the spot! Lots of flavor and meat! 12/10- Mango Margarita Would definitely come back! The menu offers a lot of good options for everyone !

One challenge with this place is finding it! Start at Showplace 16 then look for it on the right as you exit the parking lot. Everything on the menu is great! I got the arepa with cheese and the aguacate relleno, which is filled with ceviche. My son loved his queso fundido and tacos (cecina and asada, i believe). Their desserts are very creative--save space! Murals on all the walls are worth the trip but don't miss the patio out back!

Dined at Katrina for the 1st time tonight. The restaurant is in the former Paris Bistro space. It's a small restaurant and it looks like they don't have the fantastic outdoor patio with a fireplace any longer. I could be wrong but I didn't see an access door to a patio as the former restaurant had. Our server was Jenny who was fantastic! She was so attentive and I never had to ask for a water refill. A complimentary basket of tortilla chips and salsa are provided. Apparently, you have to pay for a refill. My husband and I ordered cocktails. Him the Serrano margarita rimmed with tajin and me the mezcal mule. His was excellent; mine tasted more like a lime margarita with mezcal. I even questioned if they used ginger beer. We shared everything tapas style. We started with the tuna tartar, raw diced tuna, avocado, truffle oil, sesame seeds served on plantains. It was good but the tuna wasn't high quality as it was a light pink, not a deep pink like ahi. I liked the presentation and that the base was a plantains. Next came the pulpo, grilled octopus with grilled pineapple and chimichurri. Jenny said the octopus was usually a long piece, but they had smaller baby octopus. Actually, I preferred the way they served it with the baby octopus. The octopus was perfectly grilled and so tender, full of flavor. Perfection! That dish was my favorite of everything we ordered. Next came the hongos, mushroom caps stuffed with chorizo served with garlic chipotle cream sauce. Tasty! The last dish we had and the most disappointing was tostado de salpicon, sheared beef tossed with red onions, lettuce, fresh tomatoes, avocado with oregano vinegar olive oil dressing (served cold, not a hot dish surprisingly). I tried to eat two bites and left the rest. The dish lacked any type of flavor, but the worst was the beef as it was not tender, and so tough to chew. I actually got up and went to the bathroom to spit out what was in my mouth because I couldn't break it down. I gave a taste to my husband from my tostada and he said that's exactly what his was and just take smaller bites to break the meat down. He said he was just as disappointed, but ate both tostadas on the plate because I was not going to touch it again. I have no clue how he chewed that meat. Big fail! We walked away with mixed feelings about this restaurant. Although we love Paris Bistro, I don't think we'll return to Katrina's. The only reason I'd come back is for that damn good octopus...and to see Jenny. She was great!

Was suppose to be a strawberry lemonade daiquiri but it seems like blended ice with little syrup on top

The steak and chicken tacos were horrible. Was cold and inedible. We came on a Tuesday which was $3 tacos we never been there before but was walking by when we seen the sign. It took almost an hour for our tacos and it was only us there. The food came cold and we didn't get our drinks til the check. The water was warm like it came from a sink and it tasted like sink water. The "drink" was horrible couldn't even drink it. Tasted un-flavored and it seems like she just blended ice and put the syrup on top. She didn't know the menu and tried to upcharge more for chicken tacos with nothing on it If I could 0 stars I would. I do not recommend this place and it was a horrible first experience

Came in for dinner on Sunday. Loved the decor. They were getting quite busy but service was still phenomenal! The grind was real for the server. Food was excellent. It was my first time trying pulpo, so I wasn't sure what I was in for. Pleasantly surprised, not chewy like calamari. Had a texture similar to a dense crab meat. The little suction cups were weird though, not gonna lie. This dish was HEAVY on the garlic which I loved but if you're not trying to ward off a hoard of vampires that may come your way, be warned.

Close up pic what I got. Heart attack on a plate!

Giving this restaurant a 1 star because of how rude the owner was. He actually told me to go ahead and leave a 1 star review! He was so rude and argumentative when I brought to his attention about how my steak had more fat than meat. I regret convincing my friends to try this restaurant with me honestly. I wanted to try Katrina Latin bites and bar after learning they are sister restaurant to paris bistro which I've tried in the past and actually enjoyed their breakfast . I did not have the same experience at Katrina Latin bites and bar. First I have to say the ambience was nice, love the beautiful artwork on the walls however, the room temperature was cold, it seemed the heater was not working or was turned down to a very low temp. My friends and I kept our jackets on because of how uncomfortably cold it was. The waiter was nice but she was not very familiar with the menu and struggled with taking our order and getting our drinks, and food out in a timely fashion. She also brought out a dish we didn't order and when we brought this to her attention , she didn't apology, rather she asked us if we needed a box to take the food home. I ordered picanha steak based on the picture they had on their google website. This steak is expected to have small fat on top of the steak, but that was not the case with my order. My steak had 80% fat and 20 % meat. I immediately brought this to my waiter's attention. She agreed and called the owner who happened to be the chef. The owner argued that the meat is usually mostly fat, and asked me if I've been to fugo de chao. He compared this steak to fugo de chao's , and pretty much proceeded to school me on why it's supposed to be mostly fat. I told him I've had same meat at fugo de chao and Chama gaucho, and it wasn't covered with 80% fat. The owner was rude and condescending. He told me to go ahead and leave a 1 star review. Which is exactly what I am giving him. The shrimp taco that i ordered was also sub par. They do have tasty complimentary chips and dip, but dare not ask for another basket because they'll charge you for it. I will highly recommend you go spend your money somewhere else during this inflation period!

Nice ambiance and drinks, but we were disappointed that the food was a little bland. We went here pre-movie (next to Naperville Showplace). Maybe just stop by for drinks.

Cozy place, interesting food choices! We ordered some of the specials that they were running for Restaurant Week, which were good deals.
