1-Star Review -- This was one of the WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCES I have had in Naperville. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in Naperville. It is not the first time I have had a similar experience at a Mexican restaurant in Naperville. This is now the fourth Mexican restaurant in the area where I have experienced problems with my order and poor customer service. Yesterday, I ordered a veggie burrito and a cup of elote. Before placing my order, I specifically asked what vegetables came on the burrito. I was told spinach, tomatoes, grilled onions, and rice. I then asked if they could add green bell peppers, raw onions, and cilantro. I was told there would be an additional $1.75 charge, and I agreed. Because I wanted to make sure my order was correct, I actually called back a second time before leaving my home and asked again what vegetables were included. Instead of simply answering my question, the employee responded in a rude and irritated manner, telling me, "Ma'am, you already asked me that." I explained that I just wanted to make sure everything was correct, and she confirmed the additional vegetables. When I got home and opened the burrito, it was extremely disappointing. There was mostly rice and spinach, with only a few pieces of bell pepper. The green bell peppers, onions, and cilantro I specifically requested--and paid extra for--were not there. The burrito was also very small considering the price. The elote was also incorrect. I specifically requested cheese, mayo, and the chili seasoning. Instead, it had some type of green onion or other ingredient that I did not request, and the taste was horrible. The food was terrible. The burrito was mostly rice and spinach, and the flavor was awful. The elote was also incorrect and tasted horrible. The total was approximately $24 for a small veggie burrito and a cup of elote, which I consider very expensive considering the quality, portion size, and the fact that my order was not prepared as requested. I then called and asked to speak with the manager because I wanted to explain what happened and give the restaurant an opportunity to address it. Unfortunately, the manager was extremely rude, dismissive, argumentative, and would not allow me to finish explaining the problem. She repeatedly interrupted me with "No, no, no" and insisted that the order was correct because she had been there and watched the peppers being prepared. That was not the issue. I was explaining that the ingredients I specifically requested were missing from MY burrito. Instead of listening to the customer and trying to resolve the situation, she argued with me and ultimately told me she didn't care when I said I would report the experience and leave a review. She then hung up on me. I am not someone who expects perfection, but I do expect a restaurant to prepare what I ordered, especially when I specifically confirmed the ingredients twice and paid an additional charge for them. More importantly, when a customer calls with a legitimate concern, the manager should listen and attempt to resolve the issue--not argue with the customer, dismiss the complaint, and hang up. The food was beyond disgusting, the order was incorrect, the price was excessive for what I received, and the customer service from management was unacceptable. One star because I cannot give zero. Tamales were so dry like eating a flavorless cat turd that's been sitting in the litter box for too long. The quesadilla and taco chicken tasted like shredded plain boiled chicken. Bland. No flavor. They don't give you any salsa, apparently. Unless you tell them specifically which kind you want, you dont get ANY. But as a new customer ordering online, how would you know what types there are to even choose from if there's no options or selection? What kind of a taco joint doesn't give you a couple tiny cups of salsa with your $50 plus order? Specially with your corn tortilla that is so hard and dried out that it's like eating a 120 grit sandpaper. Unfortunately, when you call to ask them what's up with that nonsense, they don't seem to care and just make up lies that they don't want to give out the wrong salsa because somebody might have a food allergy. Lol what? It's like ordering from Chinese and them not giving you any soy sauce packets cause somebody might be allergic to soy sauce.... I will not order again. read more

DON'T SKIP THIS PLACE. We all love Mexican food however, the problem with Mexican food is that each place tastes too similar to the next place. Totopos at this location is different. Their food is outstanding and I think it comes down to whomever it is that's doing the cooking, she's always doing the cooking and she is excellent. Anyway, if you carry-out, you'll notice the weight of your food because their portions are generous. There's a dish of a kind of breaded pepper that I never had before. Smiling, the chef cautioned me that the pepper is, "quite hot" and I thought, yeah right. When I got home to eat, they were hot... deliciously hot and I've since ordered them again. They also serve griddled onion bulbs which I've never seen on other menus. Anyway, you must check this place out. read more

We visited Totoro's for an early dinner on a Wednesday night while in Naperville. When we arrived we there was only one other family seated inside so we were able to order right away. The friendly cashier greeted us right away and offered menus. I ordered a chicken Gordita, rice & beans and small chips and guacamole. My friend ordered a Gordita, 2 tacos, and esquites. We were offered any salsa we wanted for our entrees and asked for an assortment. The chips and guacamole came out first. The chips were a large portion. The guacamole was creamy but was missing something. The food came out next next! Everything was super fresh. The Gordita was larger than expected and piping hot. Well stuffed with chicken, cheese, beans and topped with lettuce and tomatoes. It was fresh and hot but the chicken was lacking in flavor. The side of rice and beans was a generous portion (I was able to share it). My friend loved the tacos. The esquites were a little heavy on the cream so that made the temperature lukewarm to cold. As we sat inside the dinner rush started. I would return again in the future. The service was friendly, the portions were generous, and the location was convenient. read more

We stopped by last night, to dine in this time. There is only one table and some counter seating. We grabbed a couple of seats at the counter. We got the chicken tostada, 3 taco plate with rice and beans - two chicken and one chorizo. We also got chicken tamale and pineapple and coconut tamale - which was new to us. It tasted sooo good, I could've easily eaten three of them. All the food tasted good. My only complaint is about the salsas, they only give a couple of small salsa containers with the food. Each time we wanted some more, they only gave us these two small containers. Would love if they have some other salsa option when dining in. Otherwise, the food is really good. read more

Service: I felt sorry for the young lady who took my order but she needs better training and lacked knowledge of the payment system and became flushed and nervous when I asked questions. Happy to now have a great place to go when I visit. - Located in a strip mall. Only one table in the corner and a high bay against the window - the lady working the counter was fantastic. Talked with passion and knowledge about the menu, prep style, seasonings, etc. - I had the chiliquiles and y'all...they were legit. Over easy eggs, extra sauce (my request) and a well prepped chorizo (good flavor and not greasy). Flavor of the sauce was fantastic. - chips still were firm, which allowed the sauce to hold the eggs and chorizo when eating. Beans and rice were well flavored (assuming the beans were cooked w lard - which is the only way to go). - my companions had the steak breakfast burrito and the veggie breakfast burrito. Còmo se dice, Gawd Dayum! We had a great time in this little gem. The food was excellent, the decor was bright and adorable. We tried three different tacos, chips and guac, and a sope combo. I had a super tasty horchata and the hubby had a watermelon water. The horchata wasn't overly sweet which I appreciated. This isn't fast food, you're reminded of this when you walk in but in our experience it didn't take long at all to get our meals. Every protein was well seasoned and prepared. We received a coupon in a mailer for this place and decided to try it for carry out. The tacos were reasonably priced and I had 2--steak and Al Pastor. Both were excellent and had a good amount of meat on them for tacos. They had a number of sauces to pick from and I liked the green better than the medium red which added some additional flavors. My husband had the (huge) Crazy Burrito with hot Christmas sauces on his, and it was also excellent. We ordered chips and guacamole also, and the chips were not greasy (a previously review noted they were) and the guac was huge and wonderful. They have soy meat varieties which are so good. There are menu items that are authentic and different than you eat anywhere else. We tried taco combo with 3 different options grilled veggies, soy chorizo, and soy sausage. We tried tamale with black beans and soy chorizo. Tried Gordita with soy chorizo and with cactus also. I ordered a chicken burrito and a beef gordita. The positive is you get a lot of food for your money. Overall, the food was okay. It was extremely greasy, and the flavor was lacking. They do give you a green sauce, but it didn't do much for me. The employees were friendly, and the one employee did bring us ice water while we were waiting. The temperature inside was hot and very stuffy. You could feel the fried foods in the air. The stools we sat at were greasy from people touching them. It was my first time trying a sweet tamale, and it was good! I guess I'm just used to the taste of regular tamales, my taste buds are not used to the vegan kind. Ordered food from here today over Grubhub, our driver had to wait for the order for quite a while, but we weren't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal. We also got notified that the restaurant delayed our order. Me and my sister both got the veggie burrito with no sour cream for me and no sour cream or cheese for my sister. We also got guac on the side. The side of guac is huge! We had plenty left over. The burrito looked really good on the outside but it was like really bland. We put so much guac and salsa on it to give it some flavor but it just felt like biting into plain white rice with lettuce. Also spinach is one of my very favorite vegetables, but it should not be in this burrito, it made it sort of stringy and threw of the texture. They have two small outside tables if you wish to sit outside and eat. The ladies working here are super friendly and you can see they enjoy what they do. Great items to pick from on the menu and they are made fresh. They have a lot of traffic going in and out (carryout orders) but the food we ordered arrived what i consider quickly. Found this spot when the taco craving hit and it's got such a homey feeling as soon as you walk in, like I was walking into my grandparents house when grandma was cooking up some goodness.
