Friendly, responsive, quick, and informative. Our a/c was refilled by a family friend a year ago and is not working again so we assumed we had a leak. We called Kats, left a message and they got back within a couple hours to set up a time 2 days later. Paid for a refrigerant refill and a sealant that should patch it if it is a smaller leak. They said to reach back out if it is not working again in a couple months and may be a larger issue. Paid $99 for service fee, $285 for 3 lb of refrigerant, and $165 for the UV sealant dye. read more

Our A/C died last summer for our third floor, and the place was starting to feel like a furnace on hot days. We contacted three companies to come out and give a quote. They were great when they arrived: masked appropriately, bringing their own booties, they took a look, made some measurements, and sent out quotes for a variety of options. Giovanni was thoroughly professional, very informative, and honestly just came across as a genuinely nice guy.(One of the other companies didn't even bother to send a quote...) Life got busy, and fixing the A/C got pushed to the back burner. When I contacted Giovanni again, he came right back out (even though it is nearly July and they are MUCH busier,) let the previous quote stand, didn't argue with our choosing just to do the A/C instead of also doing the furnace, and got us scheduled for two days later on the weekend (as they were booked up during the week until the middle of July.) So, as a Father's Day present, I got a new A/C installed. Nice! They showed up early, put down tarp on the stairs, were overall quiet enough that the baby sleeping in the room below where they were working didn't wake up, and finished right on schedule. This review is being written minutes after Giovanni leaving. Which should tell you how happy I am with the service they provided. So, a week ago, the AC went out in my house (fan in outside unit). Being that it was 90+ outside, I called and whatever company was the first to say they could arrive, I went with. The company that came out got it working and I was told I should replace the whole system. For the last week, my AC has been on nonstop. I researched online and found that American Standard was rated the best by Consumer Reports. I found multiple companies to come out and give me estimates. Knowing enough about AC to get by, one by one the companies came out. They all ranged from replacing the whole system, to a valve inside the furnace (which was from the original company who fixed the AC, which was a little weird) and then Giovanni came out. After moving some appointments around because of my work schedule, he came promptly on time. As another review said, he wore booties in the house. He checked the furnace and AC. When I told him it wasn't cooling the house, he put his gages on the AC (he was the ONLY one to have digital gages) and said, I needed refrigerant, which all the other companies said was either correct or too high. He showed me the gages and explained everything in detail. He recharged the system and within a matter for 10 minutes, you could tell the difference in the performance and temp of the air coming out of the registers. I have no clue why there are only three reviews on this company, but I can tell you one thing. I rarely ever write reviews and I took the time to write one as soon as they left. I will say, that I didn't end up getting a quote for a new system from them so I don't know how they compare, but I can tell you, even if it is more money, I would go with them 100% of the time because customer service is just as important as price. As for the price of the repair he completed... I saw the bill and said "wow". Giovanni thought I was unhappy with the cost, but it was the total opposite. I went from being told I had to fork over $7,000 for a new unit, to $400 for a repair and then my final bill with Giovanni was $155. Please use them, you will be sorry if you don't. read more

I was in search of a second opinion as to the problem we've been having with our HVAC system: no heating/AC coming out of our bedroom vents. (The first company that provided an estimate said I was in need of a new furnace/AC, even though my AC unit was only a year old, so I wanted a second opinion before committing to such a large expense.) I came across Kat's Heating and Cooling on Yelp and decided to give them a call. Giovanni responded immediately to my message, and I scheduled an appointment for him to come out to see if I was in need of a new system. Giovanni said my system was indeed fine and didn't try to sell me on a new one. He believed it was the house's old duct work, which is what I originally assumed was the problem, that was limiting airflow. He adjusted my DC motor and suggested I close off some vents to see if that helped. He said the alternative was tearing through our finished basement's drywall to redo the duct work, which I think is something both of us wanted to avoid doing. Third experience with Kats Heating & Cooling, an outstanding operation. Last month, my brother's rental that I manage needed servicing. I called at 9am in the morning. They were out by 11am. Accessibility is excellent, particularly during the peak of cold winter weather. After inspection, the verdict was the boiler (which they did not install), was not powerful enough for the dwelling size. In addition, they went above and beyond checking the storm windows discovering one was not properly in tact. Early this morning, during sub zero temps, I had an issue with my heat not blowing air out while the unit was running. A call was put through at 7:30am, Micah was out by 9:30am. He was polite, professional, wore booties and very informative. Blower motor was replaced, and by 10:30am I had heat again! The integrity of this company cannot be beat. Last week had our first experience with Kats and could not be more pleased. Our air conditioning unit went out during the first spring heat wave (in the 90s) and when I called Kats and left a message in the morning I received a call back within 20 minutes. When Giovanni returned my call he spent time with me on the phone to understand what the issue was. As we live in a multi-story townhouse, our air conditioning units are located on the roof of the third story of our home and unlike a condo building, are not accessible by a window or direct access door. Despite this issues, Giovanni came out that same day to see what he could do. He arrived exactly within the window of time that was scheduled and he went above and beyond to access our AC unit, despite the heat and the unusually complicated access. Giovanni stuck to it until the AC was fixed (something that turned out to be a minor rather than major issue, which demonstrated to me the honesty/integrity of the company) and was very professional as well as knowledgeable.
