I had to wait 6 weeks for an appointment with a dry eye Dr. for 9/25/25. On 9/23/25 at 10:24 am I get a call from Eyecare Service informing me that the Dr. would not be in on 9/25/25. The caller said she would call me back to reschedule, I never heard back from them. I called this morning to get rescheduled and was informed the appointment was not cancelled. I was in disbelief! What is going on there! I did not trust them and cancelled the appointment just in case they were misinformed., because I did not want to be charged for missed appointment. I requested that management call me so that I may discuss this issue with them. Then I find out that they reassigned my 10am appointment to someone else! Something seems fishy to me. I believe they wanted my time slot for someone else and figured I would not mind, telling me that the Dr. would not be in that day-9/25/25. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Zimmerman since I was a teenager - and it's been almost THREE DECADES since I was a teenager. I followed her from her office at Seven Square (at Franklin Square), to that rando location on 7, to this Ridge Road location... She could care less. She no longer does eye exams. She's one of those doctors who comes in at the end of the exam to look in your eyes or whatever, for like 2 minutes, and then rolls out. The visit before this, she couldn't even bother to talk directly to me. She spoke to the aid, who recorded some results in my file, and left without answering my questions or anything. I mean it's bad enough that none of their equipment really works for me. I am a wheelchair user, with a fused spine and big breasts and short, to boot, so I can't get my eyes to the part of the equipment that does the measuring. And I understand that I'm a super rare case, but they're surprised EVERY SINGLE TIME. Seriously - THREE DECADES of going to this doctor and the staff is astounded every time. They have some alternate equipment, like VR stuff, but it seems to be so rarely used that it always takes like 15 minutes to track it down, and then it's questionably dirty, smeary, and certainly not capable of giving a proper reading. It has now been over a month since my last appointment and I'm still waiting for my new glasses to come in. I really should have walked out when I arrived at the appointment to be told that they no longer accepted my insurance - but in a way that suggested that it was because they just didn't want to fight with medicare/medicaid. Thing is I had waited six months for that appointment and desperately need new glasses because my current pair are about 7-years-old and one of the nose pieces fell off (and of course cannot be fixed). My prescription has changed and I can't see that well. And so I paid the $60 exam fee, even though I didn't have the money. Thank Heavens that my boyfriend had just gotten paid because it gets worse - after I got transition lenses and anti-glare, my glasses were over $300!! I mean I knew I was going to have to pay for the add-ons, but hell's bells! I also did not like the propaganda posted in the waiting room. "The new pandemic is lack of staff. Please be patient" or some such nonsense. HIRE MORE PEOPLE THEN! How is that MY problem? I'm not in charge of hiring. And if you're having a difficult time keeping staff, maybe stop with the passive-aggressive notices posted everywhere? Maybe treat your staff better? Maybe pay them more? I will be looking into finding a new eye doctor. I'm even considering just going to the optical department at Costco or something. If I'm going to get cookie cutter service, I may as well go somewhere that doesn't have a six-month wait, and will get my glasses to me in a decent amount of time. read more

July 2020 COVID19 review I've always enjoyed this location for Katzen Eye Group. THe staff is always patient. WIth the Covid outbreak, I was a little upset with having to use a kiosik to enter and update my information and scan my cards, as there was no publicly available hand sani at this station. Glad I had my own, but everyone who walks in there to register apparently has to use this and may not be as aware or cautious with this deadly virus. Some chairs were turned inward to force social distancing guidelines in the waiting room. The bathroom faucets are onces that you have to touch and hold down for the water come out. Again, no hand sani by the door to use after you open the bathroomo door to use, and the soap in the bathroom came out in small fuffly pumps. One pump was barely enough for a child's hand wash. Dr. Gianni's is FANTASTIC! Takes his careful time to make sure you leave with the proper vision, explains everything and is cautious! Not a great selection of frames. The woman who helped me with my frames was super nice, I don't remember her name but she had a beautiful chocolate complexion and was extremely patient with me and helped me to understand my insurance benefits. read more

Katzen Eye Group - Social distance forcing chair set up - Laser Eye Surgery/Lasik Near Me - Rosedale, Maryland

I've been a patient at Katzen for about 24 years and as of last night, not anymore. The rude woman behind the desk said my benefit for my eye exam was already used. I said that's impossible. I've waited over a year for this eye exam appointment and my benefits stated I was fully eligible for everything. She said unless I pay cash for the visit there was nothing she could do. I was NOT paying cash when I knew all well that I have vision insurance. I called their billing dept today and was told to call VSP. No one cares that these people don't do a damn thing to help you. I will be taking my annual eye care, glasses making and my retinal specialist visits to another business altogether. One that actually values their patients. That woman should be fired! read more

Hours for appointments! I scheduled an eye exam for 10/31 in July! Got a call today and was told the doctor took off and there's no appointments until the end of November! No appointments after 3pm. Um, how am I supposed to pay for glasses if I have to take off of work?!?! I refuse to go to any other location because their service is awful! I'll keep seeing the retina specialist but I won't be getting glasses there anymore! read more

This is the worse place ever , i work in the medical field and I'm not sure why they only have one pediatric eye doctor for the whole practice they have called me 3 different times to change my child's appt because the doctor is all of a sudden not available , i would not recommend going if you have a child read more

Great Eye group! I followed Dr. Zimmerman to this practice from her last practice and have been totally satisfied with her evaluations and eye exams and procedures. She is patient, explains everything clearly, very meticulous with exams and an excellent surgeon! She truly cares about her patients! Office is always clean and comfortable. The assistants are also patient oriented and knowledgeable and after check in the assistants get any pre-tests done & entered in computer for the Dr. allowing more time for Dr-patient interaction. Overall I would recommend this place! They also have a new Dr on staff for patients with Sjögren's syndrome (Dr.Nirankari-also an excellent Dr & recommend for Sjogrens patients). Only negative is you have to call a main call center for appointments instead of actually calling the location where your appointment is scheduled. Only reason I took off a star. read more

I want to thank the Katzen Eye Group and Dr Laken for seeing me as an emergency! I had shingles on my face and near my eye. They got me in the same day and Dr Laken examined me and assured me nothing was on my eye. I definitely will go back for regular eye exams from now on. read more

I am happy with the doctors here, I've seen several of them. The front office staff however, is rude and unpleasant. I've called more than once and after leaving a message never received a response. I've been yelled at by the front office staff, told that 'they don't take my insurance' even after calling my insane verifying that they DO. Then, miraculously 2 weeks later, they took my appointment because they do take my insurance. Complained and was told the office manager would call me, she never bothered! read more

I ordered my glasses in September, it is now January, 2021 and they still cannot get my lenses right. I've been back for two eye exams after the original. Why can't they do what I am paying them to do? I have been extremely patient with the staff. But three months and no glasses, wouldn't your patience be running thin?? Brianna is patient and has been very helpful. She should be commended. However, the doctor, Dr. Crichton on the other hand who I've seen three times now, I think they need to re-think that choice. I finally picked up my glasses yet again for the fifth time on January 8th but they still aren't right. I have blurriness in my vision. The bifocal part is fine. I went back again, on January 25th after wearing the glasses for several weeks to see if I could adjust but these glasses give me headaches and cause nausea. Here it is January, 2021 and this company still can't get it right. They told me on January 25th that I would have to pay for any adjustments to the glasses now because my insurance will not pay for another correction. Hmmm, interesting that I would have to pay another dime since Katzen Eye Group cannot get my glasses right. They expect me to pay more money because they can't do their job??? I've been going to Katzen Eye Group for over 6 years. It's sad because I normally wouldn't leave a bad review but over recent years the rude service is becoming very uncomfortable and it's not cool. My original Dr. left about 5 years ago but I've been pretty satisfied with my new Dr. It's just the administrative front desk and the optical area that make me feel bad every time I go. They are loud and they talk to me as if I'm stupid, it's embarrassing and belittling. I feel like I'm defending myself every time I go there and it's honestly bad energy. Not sure what's up but it's not pandemic stress because I've felt uncomfortable interactions prior to the pandemic. The staff is unhappy. My advice look for a happier place to get your eyes checked. read more

For someone who has had eye issues all my life and have been to dozens of eye doctors, Dr. Giannas was the first to get my prescription correct on the first try. I will say the pieces are kind are comparable to other locations. It was easy to schedule an appointment and didn't wait long when I checked in. read more

Worst doctor's experience ever. Did not want to reschedule my appt. with 2 months' notice since I did not make it to my last 2 appointments! I came to my last 2 appointments. The first time I showed up, and the provider had not come in that day, so I was sent home with a new date. The second time I came and was left in the waiting room for more than an hour and never called back, while everyone else in the crowded waiting room had come and gone. No apologies. Absolutely love this place! I followed my eye doctor, Dr. Zimmerman, who I've been with for 20 years, when she moved here. Fantastic office and staff. When Dr. Zimmerman moves to only medical cases, I began seeing Dr. Giannas. Her is excellent! Very thorough and takes his time explaining things. I've seen him for my annual vision exam for four years now and am very happy. I highly recommend this office and especially these two docs! read more

First time here. I walked in and it was so quiet, you could have heard a pin drop! 7 employees and NOT ONE greeted me! I walked past the optical center and still was not greeted, only heard a "Do you have an appointment? ... I can help you down here. This may be a great place for glaucoma screening but customer service sucks! I'm not impressed. read more

I gave them a one on the rating because I believe in good customer service. The receptionist is the first person you see when you walk in the door. It should always be an pleasant, and inviting experience. However this was not the case at all. It was the worse experience I've ever had in my life. The medical receptionist Constance was very unprofessional and rude. It was my daughters first eye examination appointment at this establishment. I gave her my child's name and at first she couldn't find it in the computer system. When it was finally found it was spelled incorrectly. My child last name is Washington. How do you mess that up? She then proceed to tell me my daughter wasn't scheduled until the next day, which was totally false. I got a confirmation from their office confirming my appointment for this exact day. I tried to explain to the receptionist this was completely false, but she got up from her desk and shrugged her shoulders as she stated "I don't know what you want me to do". All of this with an attitude. She went to speak with her manager and came back with even more terrible body language and attitude. I showed her in my cellphone where I wrote the appointment down, but she still repeated "well I don't know what you want me to do". She took my phone out my hand and tried to delete my appointment, but she failed. She made me feel like she didn't care, but also as if I made up this appointment in my mind. I think if she would of just said I apologize for the mix up and made me feel like she was concerned I would of been okay. She never apologized, nor did she try to accommodate me. Needless to say I told the receptionist to cancel the appointment and I wouldn't be coming back. I also told her I didn't like her nasty attitude. I am so disappointed. After I got myself together I called to speak with the office manager, who truly listened to me. I asked her if there was another office I could go to. She did try to accommodate with another office. However after the bad experience I had at the Rosedale office, I decided not to go. I didn't want to go to the other office with what I was feeling at that moment. It wouldn't have been fair to the other staff. I also had an upcoming appointment for myself but decided to cancel that appointment as well. I refuse to associate myself with ignorance. It is amazing how one person could ruin your whole morning. I am usually a pleasant person and never have any issues with anyone. I think I was more hurt at the way the receptionist spoke to me and didn't seem to care. I am very disappointed with the way I was treated and the outcome of everything. I also work with the public and have never treated anyone in this manner. I would not recommend the Katzen eye group in Rosedale, MD to anyone. I truly hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. I know one review won't be the end of the world, but please understand that just because you're having a bad day does not mean you should take it out on everyone else. read more

Excellent doctors and recommend visiting. Dr. G is great all around! I took away 2 stars because of one assistant that I had out with. Last year after going here, I got glasses there as well. It was not put into my records. When I showed her my glasses, that I keep in the box with katzen cleaning cloth, she pretty much called me a liar, even said they could have just gave me that cloth! I was dumb founded! Someone did not do their job last year and I am deemed a liar! So bad! But doctors are good, staff need attitude adjustment! read more

First time visit, Dr. Was nice and professional however the tech were loud and laughing about patients in the hallway. Nothing too concerned with HIPPA just felt it was unprofessional. Other than that, place seems good to me. read more
