Very good food and service. This place is open 24 hours and is great for after a late night out. I have been here several times this year and the food is very good. They have many choices to satisfy what ever you might be craving. Real New York style deli sandwiches, lox and bagels, smoked salmon or anything you can imagine for breakfast. Patty melt: a type of sandwich consisting of a hamburger patty, topped with caramelized onions and Swiss cheese between two slices of bread. Patty melts are sometimes prepared using marbled rye bread. My sister ordered a said patty melt and instead we received an unsmashed chunk of hamburger meat between toast with American cheese and that's about it. My burger was dry and wasn't even worth taking home for the dogs. It's gets 2 stars for its nice renovation and okay service. So I absolutely love Katz's sandwiches, but I will not be going back. They have priced themselves out of being even remotely worth it. I picked up a to go order today and found out that they increased their prices by almost 50%! I'm sorry but $16 for a sandwich with no side is ridiculous. Food was average but the worst part were the potato pancakes. They came out FROZEN. So much for fresh. But wait it gets better....they take them back ok thanks but then we get the bill and instead of taking the pancakes off the check they charged for a half order instead of a full order since we attempted to eat them...what?!!! This is not New York. I ordered the klassic Rubin after asking about the extra slice of bread I read about. That was explained to me....that is only on the largest Rubin. I do not agree it is necessary to hold it all together. Stop putting all the extra sour krat on the sandwiches. One thin layer is the norm . That said, I enjoyed the taste & seasoning of the cabbage. It was not slaw! I started with the stuffed cabbage and it was as good as I remember. I would prefer the cabbage cooked more, but that's my taste. Remember this is Texas! The death by chocolate is to die for ,so to speak. My friend had the skinny French dip and a huge piece of carrot cake. She was very happy with her meal. Only good thing is the Hostess was very nice. 50 min to get the worst Rueben sandwich I have ever had. Meet was so flavorless and tough I set it down ate the potato salad that must come in a tub from supplier. 36.00 for 2 bites of a horrible sandwich and a $10 shake I never tasted. Over priced. The pot roast sandwich was mostly bread. I couldn't eat all the bread so I opened up the sandwich and I ate the meat. I was upset that they would put such a small portion of meat in an expensive sandwich. I picked up my order so I was back at work when I got my surprise. Don't waste all that bread!!! Visited here with family. I use Katz's catering a lot for business but have never visited the restaurant. went for Sunday lunch. Service was ok very relaxed. Food was average and maybe on the pricey side especially when you add fries as extra. I will continue to use the catering service but doubt we will be back at the restaurant. Don't try to eat here at 6am. Was really hoping this would be great for breakfast because there are so few restaurants in the area open for breakfast. (Never understood why a "breakfast" restaurant doesn't open before 7.) We left after five minutes because they vacuum the restaurant at 6. Their vacuum cleaner obviously needs some maintenance or a better filter. The host was very understanding and said he'd ask the vacuumer to stop, but it was too late. The dining area already was filled with fumes and dust and so we left, coughing and gagging. I realize the restaurant needs to be vacuumed, and there's no "non customer" time with a 24 hour restaurant, but do it with a proper vacuum PLEASE! read more

We have been going to this location for over ten years. We walked in and headed to the counter and it was gone! We were informed there would be table service. Not happy. We were seated in very uncomfortable plastic chairs and handed huge menus. My wife ordered matzo ball soup and I ordered a sandwich. My wife's soup arrived and literally half of the broth was on the tray. They used to have a help yourself bar for pickles, gone. You now have to pay extra for chips with your meal. All in all we were so disappointed in the changes and to be honest the ability to go up to order, pay, and choose our own seat fits us and our style. Please go back to the way it has been and we'll come back. I did express my opinion with the manager so this review should not come as a surprise. We went back to see if things have improved. We saw Katz advertised so much on TV so we thought we would give it a try. Very disappointed. We went around 2:00 so it was not busy. Service was slow. I saw my food sitting in the window for 5 minutes before it was picked up. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak and believe me it was NOT a Philly cheesesteak. The potato salad had no taste.
