This place was called Godavari but with the new owner, it's now Kaveri. We go here almont every Friday for dinner. Our usuals are: chicken 65, paneer tikka and egg noodles. Chicken 65: Crispy fried pieces of chicken with Indian spices. Paneer Tikka: Indian cubes of cheese immersed in silky tomato/cream sauce. Egg Noodles: Indo-Chinese style noodles, light charred, with bits of eggs and vegetables. I love this dish! Our food comes out consistent and we enjoy dining here. DIRTY! single word for this place. it does reproduce the culture of most Indian restaurants though-no or little attention to bathrooms. this place so far is the worst except the ones I have been to in india ! I did not even feel like touching the faucet. Food is good but the thought that employees also use this bathroom and it is too close to kitchen made me feel nauseous. Guys food is all about presentation! And bathrooms are part of your restaurant. If you keep it dirty how much clean you can be in preparation of food that I eat. read more

The food here is great but service is terrible. The still restrict dining in to a point and offer a dine in coupon but you cannot really use it. So you get take out as this place is completely empty other than the people picking up food. When you order online, do not believe the pickup time as 100% of the time it's NEVER ready on that time or even 10-15 minutes afterwards. Sorry to have to add this review but this place is not sanitary and the buffet was not fresh. The floors in the restaurant were sticky when we walked to our table--as if they hadn't been cleaned in a long time. There were bugs crawling on the floor. The buffet was old and stale--most of the food was not fresh and there weren't many options. Some food reminded me of frozen food you get at the Indian grocery store that you heat up in the microwave. I thought new management meant that the place would be spruced up but just the opposite. One of the worst spicy boneless chicken Biryani ever ate. These people doesn't know the basic difference between a regular and a extra spicy Biryani. I don't understand if they were randomly working on the orders with out actually looking at the customer preference. One of the best biryanis I've had, and they made sure to pack all sides (onions, raita, gravy) for takeout. They also include a sweet (I've gotten ladoo and mysore pak) which is a nice addition. They ask you how spicy you want it, so was able to adjust based on my preference. Definitely worth it! read more

Minerva was closed so we tried out Kaveri for the first time and now I don't think we'll ever go anywhere else!!! The chicken and lamb tikka masalas were amazing. We still get carry out and the food is good. I really like it. However, I had a really weird experience. The woman working there seemed distracted and inattentive, and we never got refills. But the part that left me feeling off was that she wouldn't look at me and she would only speak to my husband. It was so bad that he even noticed it. It felt really alienating. It was hard to get her attention for refills or the bill because I was basically invisible and his back was to her most of the time. Thoroughly disappointed with this restaurant. I understand it was past 2 pm when I arrived and there was not much food left from the buffet. Also, very limited selection of items. Like every new place I go, I check in on Yelp so I can remember the name of the restaurant as well as the location. To my surprise, after I checked in, Yelp presented me a digital 10% off coupon for dine in. After I finished my meal, I went to the register to pay, I presented the Yelp coupon and the person taking payments didn't know what to do. Took a picture of the coupon. A manager (restaurant owner) came out from the back, maybe the kitchen, and told me that they don't accept the coupon. I explained how I got the coupon and if they don't want others to use the Yelp coupon, the restaurant better get in touch with Yelp. A conversation ensued about the coupon and, in addition, that he's seen before many times (impossible it was my first time and I'm visiting from south Florida). So I made a snarky remark that we all look alike. He charged me $18 for the buffet and then took 10% off. So my lunch buffet was $16.20, which is more than their listed lunch buffet price of $15.99. Not a lot more but more. It's a principle statement here. Service non-existent. Ambience feels very diner-like. Food was pretty good from what I sampled. Spicy and I loved it. Problem:- We ordered chicken biriyani on Wednesday and was about to pick up , the order was misplaced we were told they don't have anything to make and since it was night 10pm already, we returned home after the owner assured that he will take care of it and return the Money. But upon reaching out to the restaurant on Sunday for the same order or for the refund he says he is busy with the orders and he can talk on Monday . Solved:- The owner took care of the issue. Really enjoyed our dinner tonight at Kaveri! The staff was very welcoming and friendly throughout our meal. Our waiter was attentive and recommended an appetizer for us (Chili Chicken Dry) which was tender and delicious. I ordered the Malabar Fish Curry and my boyfriend had the Lamb Chettinad Curry -- we both really loved our respective dishes and would rate them 5/5. We also had a side of Plain Naan and Malabar Parotta (first time & it was soft, flaky, pull-apart goodness). The prices for our mains was very reasonable given the large portions. While food was good service is absolutely horrendous. Orders are frequently messed up and when you complain, they tell you they will give you a discount on your next order. When you claim the discount on the next order, they will find a reason to deny you, including asking the name of the person who gave you the discount. They won't send confirmation codes or text nor do they even acknowledge it. Quite frankly, considering how much we spend, the 10 dollars off wasn't a big deal. But the principle of it was what mattered. 100% thumbs down and not surprised seeing similar reviews on this place. read more

Took my family here recently after reading the good reviews. I wound up spending $135 between meals and tip; cost is not my issue here. My issue is the food was terrible. We ordered 2 different chicken entrees and the chicken's texture was a giveaway that it was definitely past the expiration date. The vegetarian rice entree was nothing but their regular rice cooked with way too much cloves; one bite of that and I was done. My dosa filling should've been warm to slightly hot in temperature but it wasn't. I kicked myself for trusting the reviews and am definitely not coming back. Regular customers from the same place where the cuisine originates are taken for granted and the least respected. The staff is very unprofessional and poorly trained. The manager/owner greets non-Indian customers but does not even greet regular Indian customers. Although it presents lackluster services and average food, this restaurant is thriving because Minerva restaurant has closed, and there are no other Indian restaurants nearby. The manager/owner starts showing arrogance when his business is doing good and starts paying attention when his business is down.
