OMG! What a great experience here yesterday! I found a 20 year old heavy link chain silver bracelet in my storage and it was black--so ugly. Showed it to some peeps and the said, "Throw that S out!" I don't know what happened to it!? It used to be silver! Took it over to Kay to get a professional opinion. Kay was off that day but Maria who works with Kay helped me. She studied it and said give me a bit of time and let me work on it. She worked tirelessly in the back of the store on it for about 30 minutes. I thought her arm was going to come off. Fortunately there were no other customers in the store right then--but there were two other ladies available to help customers. David paced around the store like a concerned spouse whose wife is in surgery. Finally Maria comes over and presents the results: Incredible--it was shinier than new! It was so shiny you could reflect the sun off it and been seen on the moon. I am going to post a picture. Afterwards Maria priced some cool looking Casio watches for me. They have some really great looking Casio watches here you cannot find elsewhere and I am a watch shopper. Lesson to be learned here: Don't listen to people that tell you to throw out dirty Jewelry--go see Maria and get a professional opinion. I was so happy with the result, and she would not take any money for the service that I gave a donation to her favorite charity in the store: St. Jude's. read more

Walked into this Kay jewelers @ the Westminster mall. I have a Kay jewelers credit card. I wanted to buy my wife a new ring for Christmas. We waited around for 10mins, not a problem but... 1. Not one employee said hello "we will be with you". Or something, letting us know they see us. 2. Finally one person was available to help us but Maria immediately asked him to help someone else. No explanation, no reason why, simply go help someone else. 3. I approached Maria why she asked the associate who was going to help us, ask to help someone else. she communicated that the associate who was going to help us needed to help a seasonal help. 4. The seasonal help was doing just fine, he had already closed the deal and the guy who was going to help us who Maria asked him not to help us approached the seasonal help and saw he was done with the sale. So the seasonal help didn't need help. I told Maria no one said hello and with a condescending tone said "sorry" 5. At this point I am outside the stores area writing this review. THANK YOU MARIA for judging my wife and I. I know I don't look the part. You just lost out on a great sale. Maria, I hope you can do better. 1. Acknowledge every single person who visits Kay Jewelers. A simple "welcome, we will be right with you" can go a far way. 2. It's important you communicate your intentions, specially when someone is willing to help us but you interject and have them help someone else. I hope you understand how that looks. Kay is the actual worst. I had a simple repair that was somehow going to take 3 weeks to fix. When I used the repair tracking it said my ring was ready for pickup. I called the store who told me oh it's not there and would be another week and they don't know why and don't know what to tell me!! I wanted to be done with them and just make a return, still in the return window and they wouldn't allow it. I called customer service to escalate this, no response, after a week I checked in using chat only for them to say they couldn't do anything and they are sorry for the inconvenience then ended my chat. My boyfriend purchased a birthstone anklet for me online with Kay Jewelers in December 2016 for Christmas. I am a normal anklet wearer and take care of my anklets even when I wear them 24/7. The anklet initially broke after one day wear, and I figured I would just manually fix the clasp that broke with pliers, it's just a simple silver ring that came out. After that it broke repeatedly even if I only wore it for a day or 2 or 3, that was the limit. I took it in to this store and was told the anklet is fine, I didn't need a bigger size (in case the stretching was a problem), and that I can wear it 24/7 because it is that sturdy. Basically they refused a replacement or repair. I have not worn the anklet for several months now and decided to wear it last week and it broke after 2 days. I sent a customer service request online and was told wearing it 24/7 was a problem. I understand that this can be a problem with LOW QUALITY jewelry but I have worn anklets for months/years and have never had a problem. They are also silver but cheaper and sturdier than Kay's quality. For some cultures it is normal to wear an anklet 24/7 and has symbolic meaning. I was told I would have to pay for any repair...no thanks! I will be taking this anklet to a local repair shop just to get a better ring on it and for their customer service. read more

I really can't stand this Kay's and their corporate customer service. Store themselves get 2 stars bc they TRY to be nice. I've visited this store 7+ times. Issues: -sales lady put street address as last name ( ID at the time didn't even have that street name - lady copied info off of form incorrectly) AFTER 3 years and 10+ customer service calls as well as in store complaints to change name it still shows street name as last name. -charged interest after being told won't be charged - tactic to get you to open line of credit -sales lady added a watch warranty that is lifetime battery etc when it was a solar powered watch - more commission in her pocket -failed to tell us about the diamond warranty for the diamonds on ring - we lost a diamond and had to pay for it to get replaced -went in for a diamond inspection n cleaning - inspection was "good" no loose diamonds or missing. after they wasted my time once again because of the last name issue for the millionth time they figured it out after I was annoyed and once my ring was handed back I couldn't wait to leave the store. I walked out, glanced down at my ring OMFG my diamond that WASNT MISSING 30 MINS AGO IS NOW MISSING!!! I was so annoyed when I went back in there. I was like my diamond is now missing!! They were like w a smile on their face "the diamond is on the cleaning tray, we will send it out, it will take 2 weeks" WTF. I tell the manager that I suggest you all CHECK THE DIAMONDS BEFORE RETURNING RING, LETTING A CUSTOMER WALK OUT WITH THEIR MISSING DIAMONDS ON THEIR RING. So annoying. When scoping around the jewelry stores looking for something new and sparkly to catch my eye, I discovered something really cool. At Kay's, They take jewelry in as trade in on bigger pieces and then sell the used "treasures" at bargain prices. I found a gorgeous necklace in yellow gold with a cluster of shiny diamonds on it. The lady behind the counter let me know that this piece since it was previously owned was an additional 70% off the price tag (which was already a steal). So I guess I should start out saying that their sales associates are liars. I purchased a $2000 Movado watch back in October 2013 and the lovely sales associate sold me this extended warranty so It would cover all scratches, cracks in the Crystal, battery, water damage. And they told me to bring it back in two years to get the watch serviced and get it back in brand-new condition.... So I drop the watch off over 30 days ago to have the battery replaced, scratches in the band fixed and have the watch completely serviced. I just went and picked up my watch today and they only replaced a battery. The sales associate showed me my watch and they never polished the band. The sales associate brought the manager over to tell me that the warranty that they sold me doesn't cover cosmetic scratches on the band of the watch. Which is total BS. He said back in 2013 their warranty only covers water damage and cracks in the Crystal and other things that the manufacturer does not cover. But their new three-year warranty will cover cosmetic damage to the band. At this point now I'm pissed off so I asked the manager if I bought a brand-new Movado and got their three-year warranty I could come back in two years and have the watch completely redone like they promised me when I bought the watch that I have. I've spent thousands of dollars at the store and there is no customer loyalty and zero customer service. When my fiance decided to get really serious and asked me to look at engagement rings so he knows what kind of style I wanted -- we went to Kay's. I think it was just convenient because we were in the area, so we walked in. We were planning on visiting others. Anyway, a Filipino lady named Myrna came over and asked us what we were looking for. When we said it was our first time and had no clue, she started showing us the rings most people usually get. Note that she didn't take us to the expensive ones right away. Perhaps because we were in flipflops and looked poor? (IDK) When I started explaining what I liked, she smiled and handed me the most beautiful princess cut diamond in perfect cathedral setting. I tried it on and it was perfect. I just felt myself "beam". Then I turned it over and practically fainted. It was way more than I wanted my fiance (then boyfriend) to spend on a piece of jewelry. Myrna was very helpful in explaining that it was a Tolkowsky ring which is known for their ideal cut diamond. I immediately gave it back to her and started looking at other engagement rings. A few months later, my fiance got down on one knee wth the Tolkowsky ring I wanted. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rewind -- my fiance tells me that when he returned to purchase the ring, Myrna took out her notes from our previous visit. She apparently remembered us and waited for my fiance to return so they can discuss his options. This was fantastic because my fiance (and I) weren't taking notes -- so it was great that not only did she take down my ring size, ring preferences, etc., but she even called my fiance by name. I have returned twice to get my ring cleaned (they offer free cleaning) and the service has always been amazing. The only thing I don't like (hence the 4star) is that they are always selling. The salespersons can be a bit pushy and you feel bad if you walk out with nothing. Anyway, everytime I see those commercials that say "Every kiss begins with Kay"... I get really happy. They were absolutely incredible in being part of our engagement. read more

I came in here twice looking to upgrade my ring for a custom one. The first time, I was told I'd get a call back the next day with a price on what the ring would cost including the stones. No one called. Okay, no big deal. Went in about three weeks later to look again and follow up with more specific information. I again was told I'd get a call Monday. No call. On Tuesday before the closed, I called and spoke with Jessica who'd been helping us all along. She said she'd know by the next day and she'd call no matter what by one... still haven't received a call back from them. I guess I'll be buying a ring somewhere else. read more

The manager was suppose to give us a discount since the order was a month late and wrong but ended up only giving us about ten dollars off! The management and customer service here sucks. Took my ring in to get it fixed, the large diamond needed a new head. The sales lady told me I should have it resized (do you smell an upsale) and that it would cost 87.00, then when I said yes and she wrote it up the cost dramatically increased because she said it would have to be de-soldered @ 45.00 then re soldered for another 45.00. Now the 87.00 resizing was suddenly 177.00 . i don't know about you but when i ask for a quote i want to know the whole cost. I was not prepared to pay that right then I just wanted my ring fixed. I paid up front for the original repair and asked for a quote for some additional work that she said needed to be done in the future and would probably cost more than the value of the ring. I was told it would come back clean and looking like brand new. Great, except when I called to ask about why I had not gotten the call for the quote i was told that my ring had special cut diamonds and the work was not necessary the diamonds just needed to be cleaned. My ring was done! When I went in to pick it up I was told I needed to pay an additional $35.00 for the cleaning (part of the original cost) and for the additional work that I had been told the previous day was not done and didn't need to be done and was never quoted. While I'm happy that I don't need additional work done it's hard to feel good about a service when I'm being charged for service that I was told was not needed and not done. In the end she waved the charge but it was a frustrating experience. Be sure you get everything in writing. read more

I have mixed feeling right now for this store, it was my fav until recent. I had purchased Diamond Earrings, once upon a time they were screw backs and 1karat , I'm not sure if it's a me thing or if this happens to some but the earrings still would come out, I would visit the store and like a dummy never had it in writing I did have them sent out One time to have the backs replaced, but that didn't work either, I ended up loosing them both money out the door. No one had ever told me they could have a different backing on them so they would be more secure I didn't find that out til it was to late and after all the times I complained and was in the store and made the calls to Customer Service, needless to say I'm mad and upset. All they could tell, when I did discover this out was that the employees are not required to tell me about the feature, OK then wow !!!!!! This was a special case it's not like it happened one time. It ended up costing me my hard earned money. This story has no happy ending just a disappointed customer, I have been buying my Jewelry from that store for years and years, in fact they day I found out about the other option on the earrings I had purchased new ones and Paid the Extra cost to have them done with the new backing. I did reach out to Corp and they said there was nothing they could do to help me out in any way and with that I do Not intend to purchase anymore item from Kay Jewelers again, this is based purely on the principal of the situation and nothing more. A special note to Al (in Torrance) I will miss you, you are the best, thank you for being that special Sales person and giving such great service while you were in the Westminster location.
