Their selection had always been great, but their service has gone from bad to worse. I kept coming because the food was good. Now, the flavors are gone and I ordered a grilled ranchi (grilled street meat) and everything was burnt. The potions went from generous to small especially with their prices going up. They selection is still good, but come here if you want to take out Peruvian desserts: lucuma ice cream, mazamorra, etc.-- that's all I can consciously recommend now. read more

Take it from a born and raised Peruvian cook. I wouldn't recommend this place as a good or accurate representation of what Peruvian food is. Pretty bad quality of ingredients and the flavors were just off. Service was okay and the place seemed clean but they could use some improvement in the food. I don't understand why offer food on your menu that you don't have an haven't had for quite a long time? This isn't right what you need to do is maybe have a note on each menu advising your clients that there's a few items on your menu you no longer serve. A Peruvian restaurant located in the small Twinbrook Marketplace plaza, Kaypi offers a nice selection of Peruvian fare such as chicken, lomo saltado, ceviche, soups, seafood entrees, and grilled meats. They also have a little light-up board by the bar area, where they have a list of their specials like the aji de gallina and tamales. I was shocked to see that they had CUY listed (prepared in 2 ways - spicy or fried) - I am not sure how more authentic you can get than that! :O I tried the 1/2 a chicken with a choice of sides - fried yucca and plantains. What I noticed right off the bat was that the portions were outrageously generous! The mounds and mounds of the fried yucca and the plantains was pretty crazy, and I think they match it up in terms of how much chicken you order. The yucca fries were crispy, and came with a side of cold sour cream which I thought added a nice touch. The plantains were plentiful and very hot, but could have been a little more crispy and more browned. The chicken was slightly on the dry end, but still juicy enough and flavorful with the creamy & mayo-y aji sauce. There is also a very picante chili sauce for the spice lovers that you can add to your chicken. I also tried their horchata, which was slightly grainy, but still refreshing. Kaypi seems to be a local favorite, as the place was filled with regulars. Make sure you brush up on your Spanish, as English is the second language here :D. Worst Peruvian food and service. I have been there a couple of times. The first time I ordered lomo saltado that took for ever and the restaurant had only two tables with people already eating their food. The food is not near close to the Peruvian flavor. My friend ordered aji de gallina that clearly wasn't fresh she complained about the freshness of the food the owner came to our table and told her that the food is always fresh made and he told her to never come back if she doesn't like the food. Well besides his attitude the food is really bad. We will never go back there. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday night. Quiet but amicable atmosphere. Staff recognized me from a previous visit and resulted in some extra friendly smiles. Asked the 'lead' waitress? what would be more flavorful between the two entrees I pre-selected before ordering. She suggested the Pollo with Green Rice and Ceviche and boy, was it yummy or what! Just the right amount of Cilantro, the Ceviche combined very well with the strong citrus base and the chicken was tender! Will visit again. read more

A lot of people complain about the food but to our group the food was not bad. The Chupe could have been a little thicker but the fried yucca order was a generous portion, and the Bistec a lo Pobre dish was generous and tasty. What we really had a problem with is the service. To put it simply, the service is lousy. To add insult to injury they automatically add an 18% gratuity that only adds to the lousy service. I guess if you know you will get a good tip then why bother with good service. When I pointed out to our waitress that it is not acceptable to never clear our dishes after we finish eating, she simply shrugged her shoulders. My guess is that the management does not train the staff on proper service etiquette. The ambience is very simple, nothing fancy but clean and adequate. Our group tried it once but there are other better restaurants with similar menus. Management should train the staff and get rid of the auto tipping on every table. read more

These waitresses were so rude and didn't bother to give us utensils, napkins, or those complimentary sauces that they gave to every table but ours. Stay away from this place. I agree total scam. They have two different price list menus!! One menu is less and the other is more. They told me it was tax why the price is different then another lady came and went through the pile of menus and selected one with the higher price. read more

I've been here a few times. I love that this restaurant is in my neighborhood. Sadly, the last couple of times I've been in the service seems to be a little slower. Which would be fine if they were busy, but it's not at the times I go in. I went in for lunch today and the food was delicious, as always. I did have a bad experience when it came time to pay. I had a coupon for 1/2 off entree with the purchase of one entree & two beverages. I was told the coupon wasn't valid because I didn't get an appetizer- nowhere on the coupon does it say appetizer. I know how to read, if the employees don't understand how coupons work then coupons shouldn't be offered or train the staff. Seems petty, but I won't be returning to the restaurant. I don't appreciate being spoken to as if I don't know how to read a simple coupon. read more

Just tried this place today. Amazing food!! Perfectly seasoned and well priced. Its not very busy which doesn't make any sense since the food and service is great. We've been there three times so far since it's close to our home. We have tried chaofa (stir fried rice), ceviche, chicken soup, fried fish, etc. Most of the dishes are very tasty especially the ceviche, but the seafood rice (like a paella) tasted really bad and was way too salty. They have spacious dining room and very few customers, which is the atmosphere I like. Their portion is extremely big (one entree can almost feed two people) which is another thing I like. Their price looks a little high but it's a good deal for the portion you get. There are a huge selection of items on their menu, and I will definitely go back to explore more, although I will never order that seafood rice dish again. read more

i went here to try a new peruvian restaurant, but the service was bad and they even charged me 18% tip!! included in my bill...the food was ok but i don't recommend this place if they are going to charge you for the tip already in your bill, when i did the counts was 18% way to much for the service. that's why cebiche house went bankruptcy because the service was bad and they used to charge you for tip in your bill. read more
