It was nice that they were open this late, it wasn't busy at all and very easy for us to get a table. We started with the seaweed salad, which was delicious and then I tried a couple of the rolls. The fish was so fresh everything came out so quick, you can see the sushi rolling station from the seating area and it's easy to trust what you are getting. I have seen this restaurant for several years and it's been on my "try it" list. Today, we finally got a chance. The building itself is well kept and it's beautiful inside. There is plenty of clean, safe parking right near the entrance. The inside is clean and well maintained as were the restrooms. Our server was a lovely and friendly woman named Shan. She took our drink orders and dropped menus within a minute of sitting down. The ordering process was simple and straightforward. The food came out within ten minutes and it was fresh and hot. The sushi was all well prepared and plated. I had shrimp tempura and it was fantastic. The spicy soup that came out first was amazing but I can't remember what it was called. Solid 4 star sushi pick in Colorado. Being from So Cal I doubt I'll ever be able to find sushi in Colorado as good as it is from my hometown or other places right on the ocean. With that being said, this place does do a good job in satisfying my cravings. The heaven and hell roll was our favorite roll. The place itself is very large with plenty of room for seating. There's also lunch sushi specials on basic rolls. Our service was good, our waitress checked on us multiple times. I've been going here for 10 years at least. New ownership is making the sushi experience rather difficult. The last three times the problem is what you order is not what you receive. It makes you feel crazy. I found myself asking for the menu again, after receiving the food, so I could check the description. That's not fun. That's not relaxing. That's work. The menus are not current to what the chef prepares. So you order off the menu THAT IS NOT CURRENT to the "chef's style" or interpretation of the dish. Yes. That's what we were told. The first time this happened I went back and forth with the sushi chef to try and get them to match the menu description. It was like talking to a brick wall. One answer I got was "oh we don't do it that way anymore". Well then why is it on the menu???? Ready? As soon as we walked through the doors we were greeted with smiles. We sat down and the place was quite busy. We were brought water and menus. I explained I was new to the restaurant and I was shown different parts of the menu and how to mark down what you want for sushi. We tried a lot of food in fact... we got way too much. The portions were quite large and filling. We got the combo fried Japanese rice (chicken beef shrimp and veggies) we also got 3 different sushi rolls to try- El Diablo , Spider Roll, Volcano Roll. And we both got Mai tais which were delicious! The service was amazing and the people serving us were so kind and hard working. The place is very clean and well kept and has a nice ambiance that is family friendly yet great for a date like ryan and I were on! I've historically enjoyed this place. I had a bad experience the other day. We ordered our dinner online but are told to pay at the restaurant. Ok, that works. But when we got there, we found that the price they were ringing us up for was about 10% more. I showed them the email I had received confirming our order and the price and they only said "Oh, the online menu is wrong". No apologies, no attempt to honor their menu price. Since then, I have read other reviews of this place where the description on the menu doesn't match what they deliver. Have lost confidence in this place, don't think I'll go back. read more

Came her for the first time with a friend. The host was polite and quickly sat us. When he realized it wasn't the best table in a "less then full" restaurant he kindly directed us to a nice booth and brought over a high chair. The table and booth were clean however part way through our meal I noticed my boot sticking too the floor. We ordered wontons and calamari for our appetizers. The wontons were pretty standard and served with the usual sweet and sour sauce. The calamari was so vile we had to look up if there was such a thing as imitation calamari (like imitation crab) there is, and we were pretty sure that we had just had it. There was a complete lack of flavor and It had a horrible texture of rubbery and pear gone bad. We each took a bite and did not touch it for the rest of the meal. We ordered the lava, black dragon and chicken tempura rolls. They were all very tasty! The lava could have definitely used some more spice however the rest were great eats! We ordered the Kobe beef roll, volcano roll and a Kobe beef bowl. The volcano roll was your basic baked salmon roll. It melted in my mouth as I took my first bite. It wasn't amazing but it was pretty damn good. If your a baked salmon lover like me, then give it a try! The Kobe beef roll was somewhat of a disappointment. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely didn't live up to my expectation. There are some other spots in Golden that definitely hit the Kobe beef roll better and at a cheaper price. The Kobe beef bowl was definitely the star of this visit. It had plenty of meat and plenty of rice to accompany it! Juicy with each bite and as the other pieces were waiting to get eaten, they were pouring their juices onto the rice. This made the rice have an amazing flavor while the Kobe beef provided an another intensity of flavor! Overall Kazoku is a good spot to try. The service is quick. One of the major benefits about this restaurant is the price! This is by far some of the cheapest (good quality) sushi around. Some of their rolls start at like 4$. Insane!! Second, the service is always nice. Perhaps part of this is the fact that it's always fairly slow. Either way, it's nice to be greeted the second we walk in the door, sat quickly, provided drinks and menus. These folks go the whole nine yards. Our server was kind to give us recommendations and checked on us frequently. Lastly, while I'm no sushi expert, the sushi here appears to be well made, with good quality seafood.
