**This is a 3.5 Star review.**…read more So, I'm not a huge fan of Disco Fries (poutine with a slab of cheese), but when I saw it on the menu, I knew this place must be legit. I lived on the Jersey Shore and traveled frequently to Philadelphia. I've done the Pat's vs. Geno's thing (they're both delish). I've had plenty of cheesesteaks at WaWa (Google it) and many roach coaches along the Eastern Seaboard. What most people don't get is the bread. The bread should be soft and chewy, and Pappa Geno's does a good job with that. The meat in an original cheesesteak is supposed to be cheap, thinly sliced and quickly grilled. Tender. Greasy. Wonderful. Pappa Geno's does a good job with that too. But -- there's enough black pepper to float a battleship! And there's nothing authentic about that! None of the original Philly cheesesteak joints empty half a can of black pepper onto their meat. Though I enjoy black pepper, my crew (including my Yankee wife) had some issues. Yo, Pappa Geno's! Enough already! Tone it down! We can add our own black peppa! (Still, this is an outstanding sandwich, as far as my taste buds are concerned.) Fries here are meh, but I like them because they warm up nicely in the toaster oven. The Disco Fries? Spot on with even the best diners along the New Jersey Turnpike! If you are a displaced Garden State or Eastern PA person, this joint might warm your soul. If you're a Houston person looking for a taste of the Northeast, you might well enjoy this place. Either way, tell them "Hey! Ease up on the throttle with the black pepper!" You're welcome. ;-)

She was quick with our drinks and let us look at the menu for a few more minutes. Mom had the Green Tomato BLT, the Missus had the club sammich. But enough about their meals ... I want to review my meal. Their menu lists that the burger is on a brioche bun ... check that one off of the item list. A hearty patty is also placed inside of the bun and along with it are pickles, lettuce, onion and tomato. Check and double Check. Mayo is slathered on the buns, at just the right amounts that make it taste good, but not so much that it slides the innards of the burger all over the place making the chomping experience mushy. Flavors were good, I had just hoped the patty fit the bun a little better. The ratio was a bit more bun sided than oatty sided. My fries, crinkle cut, were seasoned well. Well enough that no ketchup was needed to dip them into for additional flavor. I would have liked a bit more crispiness from a double fry, but these were toothy enough to get a decent mouth feel. The meal for the three of is was about 47.00, so inflation has also hit my hometown dining places as bad as they have hit my current home near The Woodlands. Will i return to eat there the next time I visit Mom? If she wants to go, then yes, yes I would. I would also hit it alone just for their chicken fried steak or chicken. Ciao, Darrell

Sub was good, not as great as the Texas city location, but still a quality sub. The issue was the service. Never have I ever experienced such rudeness from staff. Walking in (again, for the first time) I am greeted with a "what do you want" yell. I thought he was joking or messing around at first, but no, dude was serious. I give my order and try to pay. Another yell from him "you pay after you eat" ok, that works, too. All the while, the two other guys on duty are groaning about not having enough time to prepare for the day, complaining about customers on Saturdays, and more. I'm all for hole in the wall, simple no frills dining, but this place had an overall terrible, terrible vibe. I finish eating and go to pay. Guy barks orders at me on how to tap my card. I try different attempts, finally the card reader shows an error. Dude yells at me "LISTEN, OR THAT WILL HAPPEN". Turns out, his WiFi network wasn't on the whole time. Upon discovering this, in his defense he did apologize - but cmon dude. Shouldn't ever treat a customer like that. I slide my card and it works first try, after he turned the WiFi network on. I bumped my tip down from 22% to 18% and walked out. As I exit, I hear grumbles of complaints coming from the dude. Serious disappointment here. Never returning. I hate for one location to taint the other, but I can't say this makes me want to revisit my beloved Texas city location by my house any more, either.

Anyhow, we walked in and were warmly greeted by the guys behind the counter. You can dine in or carry out, we dined in. I told them it was our first time there and he recommended my husband or I get the Italian sub. I had already decided that was the one I was going to get before entering anyways so that's what I went with & my husband got the cheese steak. After ordering we picked out drinks out of the cooler and a bag of chips to split. They offer Snapple, Gatorade, water, and a variety of sodas. Our sandwiches were delivered to our table within about 2-3 minutes of ordering. They were so good, I didn't think to take pictures but would highly recommend both. The entire vibe in the store feels like you're at a family members house. If you enjoy a good sub or sandwich give this place a shot, they are affordable and welcoming but most importantly delicious!
