They do diagnostics, MO State inspections, general repairs on late model vehicles, oil changes, brakes, suspension, tires, alignments, window tinting, paintless dent repair, custom work and I suspect there's more they can do. I want my 2011 Toyota to last as long as it can. Lots of reasons, one might be the looming Tesla truck in my future. The whole team at the 39th street store got my whole situation. My current car story started with an oil change that lead to general wear and tear work. First they completed all the work for less then they quoted and in a shorter time. It can be a difficult/confusing to get to this business using GPS or Siri if using the actual street address. But if you specifically type in or say the NAME of the business, you'll find it sooner! You know from the minute you see the building and parking lot that the owner takes pride in his business. Richard/Rick, the owner, has always been the person answering the phone, and my in-person contact. He's personable and helpful, and has gone out of his way to work my car in during a couple of stressful situations, when other auto shops have not been able to. In terms of personnel, it's a smaller shop, and it is always busy. His estimates are reliable, they do good work, and he actually took the time to drive my car to confirm the problem. read more

I like their online scheduling system, which ensures that I'll be seen quickly and helps me when I'm planning my day. One small note: Please do not park in the drive way next to the shop. Went to KCAutoWorx for a slow oil leak and an overall check up. At pickup Jason warned it would start "puking oil" if I didn't let them (or someone else) fix it immediately. Fear-based pressure that was pretty disappointing for a mechanic to do towards a young women who "knows nothing" about cars. My old mechanic assured me there was nothing urgently wrong with my car, it's just old and has cosmetic quirks. Good luck people I'm still driving my car everyday, months later and absolutely no issues. Even though it's smaller than its sister location on Southwest Boulevard, the 39th Street location is just as great as the original. With its old school motif and quick and friendly service, it's just as efficient as the other location. Getting an oil change and tire rotation here takes about 30-45 minutes (way faster than "quick" oil change places or dealerships). I haven't had to have any repairs done here yet, but I'll hit them up when I'm in need. read more

My wife and I were visiting KC on a work trip (for me) and also to enjoy Labor Day weekend. On our way to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art the rental car sensor told me the back passenger tire was running flat (20psi). I pulled over to the nearest gas station and was about to fill it with air when my wife pointed out we had a 3 inch nail sticking out of it. This was a Friday morning of a long holiday weekend so the gas station's mechanic was closed - and it's air/water machine was broken so we looked for alternatives. There weren't many shops open and our day was starting to look grim if we had to wait for the rental car company or AAA to come service the tire. I found KCAutoWorx on here and gave them a call. They said they fix flats and sure, stop by (it was about 2 miles away). At the shop, which looked really clean and organized, the guys there not only negotiated down the rental car company's attempt to charge me $$ to come out and change it (the nail was in the sidewall), they changed the tire and sent us on our way ... for FREE (they turned down our insistence to even leave a tip)! Coming from So Cal where everyone needs their piece, if I lived in KC this would automatically be my go to shop. read more

One afternoon I realized that my low tire was due to a screw or nail in my tire. The place that I usually go to wasn't able to help for at least 90 minutes as were all of the other options that I called. When I called KCAutoWorx, not only was I talking to a very helpful voice, he offered that they could work me in and get me back on the road quickly. Not only did they get me in and the tire repaired quickly, it was an easy $25 charge! Brought my car here for vibration issues & while turning left lagged shifting quickly and they diagnosed it with needing a new transmission, but they never checked the dipstick to the transmission fluid, it was super dirty & they insisted I pay $4k+ for a new transmission. Replacing that fluid & changing the rear differential oil on my own made a world of difference. Get a second opinion on your car... read more
