I walked in to KD Nails back in July, I believe. I was in the area because my husband was doing some electrical work that would take a while, so I decided to find a nail salon to get my nails done. I walked in right behind David, who had just gotten back from lunch (food in hand!) and I asked if they had time for me. David took me immediately and put his lunch away. I've been to many nail salons trying to find "that" experience..the one we all look for when receiving a service. Comfortable, clean, and relaxing. None of the salons I've ever been to have checked every box..or even verbally communicated with me during my appointment...until I walked in to KD Nails and sat with David. The whole first appointment, David and I had conversation, and it was light and engaging. It was a breath of fresh air to be spoken to during my appointment and not just sitting in awkward silence! It was a great appointment and i realized that I have found my salon! I went for a couple more appointments, perfect experience each time, and he remembered our conversations and things that were going on in my life that we had spoken about. It was really a very personal experience. I booked yet another appointment and added a pedicure to it. The pedicure was so nice and relaxing, and she made sure I was comfortable the entire time! I have been back about 5 or 6 times since my first walk-in appointment, and I will continue to go to KD Nails for all of them, and I live in Manchester! Although David is leaving soon, Katie will be taking over my nails! I had my first appointment with her today and it was just as good as every other appointment I've had there. I hadn't been to this salon in a few years, but they were able to fit me in at just the right time. I'm glad I went back. As I walked in, I was asked to wash my hands immediately. Everybody who walked into the salon was asked to wash their hands right away. What a great idea this is! Imagine how many germs are NOT making their way into that salon by taking this one precaution. While I was not required to wear a mask, everyone who worked there was wearing one. There were multiple signs posted that anyone who is sick should reschedule. In addition to the ordinary hygiene measures, they also had a clear screen that was pulled down between the client and technician during the pedicure service. It was super smart and not something I had seen before. I always get pedicures, but I never get manicures because I'm a picker. If there's something on my fingernails, I make it my mission to pick it off. But my nails were looking sad, so I figured I'd get a manicure this time too. Thuy talked me into getting dip powder nails and promised there was no way I could pick them off. Challenge accepted! It's been 5 days, and I'm sold on these dip powder nails. UNPICKABLE!!! And it's not for lack of trying. I subconsciously pick at these things CONSTANTLY and have not been able to make a chip. Aside from the remarkable COVID protocols, I was astounded by the SPEED of my appointment. I was there at 1:00 and was on my way shortly after 2:00 with a deluxe pedicure AND a new set of powder nails. As Ngoc was doing my pedicure, Thuy did my manicure from the side of the pedicure chair. These ladies are gracious and fun and work well together. I am fidgety and not used to being so pampered, and they made me feel like a fancy lady in a movie. I never told them I was in a rush. I have no idea how they managed to do what they did so quickly and yet so perfectly. Both Ngoc and Thuy work with great precision. I could not be happier with the results! I stopped in here today after recently moving to the area, looking for a new place to have snickers and pedicures, and reading previous reviews that were glowing - they were well deserved! This place is clean, family run, fun and fast! Nikki did an amazing job on my dip manicure after removing my previous shellac with ease. She was careful to preserve my nail health, check in with me throughout the manicure and make sure I was happy. Their selection of colors in traditional, shellac and dip powder is impressive. I used to go here all the time a few years back when the original owner was still present. Now it's the owners daughter managing this place to what I understand, and I went to go get my nails done a few months back on a couple different occasions. I asked for long nails and she put curved tips on them (which I didn't want). I asked for her to make it so they weren't bulky, and instead she made my nails so thin they broke throwing a ball for my dog. When I asked for her to fix my nail she did but had an attitude when I came back. Then when I scheduled again for a pedicure, the woman who answered was different and said the time I wanted was available. I got a call from Katie (the original owners daughter) hrs before the day of my pedicure appointment and she told me she couldn't do my pedi appointment. Then I rescheduled and went back, and weirdly enough the other lady doing my pedicure (who was usually very good at it) was picking at my hang nail on my toe for 20 minutes until I asked her to stop. The fact they don't do acrylic and use gel builder is also a reason not to come here if you don't like gel. overall I felt a weird vibe and did not enjoy my visits to KD nail salon. I went here a couple days ago for a gel mani/pedi. I can't believe I've been wasting my time and money at other salons in the area. The experience was above and beyond my every expectation. I chose KD's because of its proximity to my house, and I'm so glad I did. When you walk in, you're in complete awe of the layout. The salon is so modern and chic, and yet, very welcoming. Katie immediately greeted me and got straight to work getting my station set up. She did a thorough job on my mani/pedi and made the entire experience comfortable, personable, and fun. I left inspecting every millimeter of my nails, as I always do, looking for imperfections and there weren't any! However, the person who did my manicure barely deserves 2, I asked for a regular acrylic full set and she did the powder set instead without asking me (which is 10$ more). There was no cuticle cleanup or anything else that comes along with a manicure. My nails turned out very lumpy/bumpy. For $65 I would've expected more out of what I got. read more

Apparently, they are under new management. The new manager has a very cavalier attitude. My first encounter was to call to make an appointment for a pedicure. She answered the phone to tell me they were closed. You don't answer the phone when you're closed. Next she told me to call back another day to make an appointment. She wouldn't take my appointment while I was on the phone because she reminded me they were closed. This morning I made an appointment for 4 PM. I had another appointment at 2:30 PM. When my 2:30 meeting finished early I called to see if I could come in early. Apparently this new owner is the person I spoke to on the phone and she said yes come in, I said I will be there in about 10 minutes. I showed up and started to take off my coat and she looked up and said "your appointment is not until four." I said we just spoke on the phone and I repeated the phone conversation. She looked at me and said well, your appointment is at four. That was the last straw for me. I spent more than 30 years in the Customer Service business and this is no way to provide customer service. So I told her you won't be seeing me again and she basically blew me off and said fine. I left. You may have a different experience but this woman has no business running a retail operation read more

I wish I was able to give a better review. I tried this place on whim, I got a full set of powder-dipped nails. The Salon has a cool set up I really liked and the salon itself was really neat & clean. Everyone was really pleasant and friendly -- staff and customers -- my nails just weren't up to par. It's partially my fault for not being more vocal at my appointment. The nails don't fully cover my real nail bed and they weren't smooth as they should be. Very lumpy/bumpy instead of smooth, I have really dry cuticles and she cleaned them up nice for me but for some reason I can see the side of my natural nails under the powder-dipped set. Only 3 out of the 10 were noticeably bumpy but for $50.00 I expected better. I don't think I'll be back. Very nice people though. It's unfortunate :( read more

David and his sister are both amazing. They clearly care so much about their family business that they make sure they remember their customers and give them the best service. Got done mani-pedi gel and best experience ever. Unfortunately, on my last experience they did not do manicure, just started the polish right away, cut my skin around my nail and while using the drill file without letting the cuticle get soft, and filled my nail to the skin even thought I ask if they can not shorten my nails because they are short enough. Like those were not enough David started talking shit about a customer that just paid and left to another customer as I was sitting right there. I first found this place after horrible nail salon experiences in Epping. I found KD... And OMG is she awesome. She is the master of dip nails and has the most beautiful creations. I let my nails go for about 3 months and went to see her again today... (I've been quite sad with the holidays). I went to this nail salon because it's close to my home and they were able to take me right away. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of service. My nails were in poor condition, especially the cuticles. They made them look really nice; I had a nice hand massage; and they did a French manicure on my nails that looks very professional. It was $20 which seems a bit high to me, but they did a good job. My only complaint is that the girl who did my nails talked on her cell phone in Vietnamese the entire time she was doing my nails -- rather rude, I thought.
