    Pickled vegetables and fish soup.
    William K.

If you haven't been to one of the newest food courts in Flushing, you should definitely give this area a try. The entire lower level of the Super HK Supermarket is filled with great gems for quick satisfying bites. One of them is Kei Lai Quin. Located conveniently next to a large paid parking lot and various buses on Main street, this small stall features sizable flavors. The favorite that most patrons seem to order is the Pickled Fish Soup. In addition to that dish, we ordered some garlic infused tender vegetables and some pork knuckles. The fish dish was a large bowl filled with tender flavorful fish fillets (careful of small bones) and a savory, sweet and sour broth. At the bottom of this bowl we're picked vegetables, some vermecelli, and cabbage. The dish really makes you want to eat a few bowls of rice, which we actually did! The other dishes (which is why the 4 stars) were alright. The vegetables were very easy to eat as sometimes Chinese vegetable fishes require a good deal of chewing. We would definitely come back for this wonderful meal and perhaps give other stalls a try!

Pretty much anything you eat in Flushing is going to be good, but every now and then, you try something that is truly transformative. A dish that is so much more than the sum of its ingredients and a dish that you'll remember and bring your guests to try in the future. "Fish filets in pickled vegetable soup" is just such a dish. Came to the new Super HK food court today and this was the dish that caught our eye as we descended the steps into the center of the food court. It took around 10 minutes to make, but I was soon called back to the counter to find a gigantic bowl of fish and soup waiting for me. Just looking at the broth, it was obvious that it was going to be special. A lot of fresh fish was included. The fish belly was sliced and was incredibly tender and flavorful. The bones were deep fried and then included into the dish. The tofu skins, the glass noodles, and the fresh herbs were all made better by the broth. And that broth itself was amazing. It was so complex and one of those rare times where it really was impossible to identify what made it so good. It was a really rich broth that we think got its depth of flavor from the fish bones that had been deep fried. This broth was balanced by the acidity of the pickled mustard greens. There were some peppers and some ground white pepper. Altogether, it was such a distinctive flavor that I can almost taste it as I write this. The dish is offered in three sizes. There's a $17 size which comes with one bowl of rice. There's a $20 size that comes with two bowls of rice. And there's a $32 size which comes with four bowls of rice. For the three of us, we went with the $20 size. They were also nice enough to supply an extra bowl of rice for free without me even asking since they saw we had a total of three people sharing. Don't be worried if you get charged an extra $5. That's just the deposit for the bowl. Bring the bowl back and you get your $5 back. That's pretty common when eating in the Flushing food courts that provide actual dishware. We still had quite a bit of broth left over when we brought the bowl back and the nice person at the counter offered to give us a to-go box to bring the rest home. We also got the sauteed string beans, which were tasty, but at $8 seemed a bit pricey. In comparison, for around $10, you can get a full protein entree with rice. So not the best deal, but sometimes you need to eat some vegetables. Everything that stall put out looked and smelled delicious. I saw someone walking away with a full lobster. And they have a spicy version of the same fish dish, but it looked like almost everyone was ordering the pickled vegetable version instead. Bravo.

Great fish-head dishes and sautéed veggies. The fish-soup used to be better though using life-fish.

Food takes forever to come out, and the stone pot crab was a bit bland. I'll give fish dishes a chance next time, though.

The menu is entirely in Spanish but the waiters can help if needed. We ordered the Gobernador taco, a half dozen shrimp, the regular guacamole and the aguachiles verdes. The Gobernador was a large size - really more like a mini quesadilla than a taco in my mind. It was flavorful and filled with seafood. The half dozen shrimp were cooked well, but a little hard and messy to peel. The guac was good, a little oily but tasty. The aguachiles were really good but borderline too spicy for me. The spice continued to build as I ate them and it did feel less enjoyable but it was good to start. My main grievance with this restaurant was how loud it was. I was yelling and struggling to hear what my friend or the waiter said, but the food was delicious. Maybe if it were less crowded it would be ok, but definitely not a great atmosphere for having a conversation.

Interesting enough, while the owner is from Wenzhou, their main chef is from Fu Zhou. Hence I definitely see some Fukinese influences here as well, such as their famous Buddha Jumped Over The Wall Soup that requires advance notice. Anyway, the reason I first visited this restaurant was because they have a great lunch special from Monday to Saturday. You can choose three items and a soup for $8, or four items and a soup for $9. I gave that a try a few months back and thought the food was solid. Due to my first experience, I decided to come try their dinner offerings with my family recently. We ordered a bunch of dishes and was overall please. While the best dish of the night may have been the Salt & Pepper Pork Chop, it's hard not to enjoy Ginger & Scallion Twin Lobsters for $29.88 right? The Shi Li Xiang Stir-Fry (Mixed Seafood w/ XO Sauce) and Wenzhou Style Dried Tofu w/ Smoked Pork were pretty good too. Unfortunately, the cold appetizers were not as satisfying. While slightly overcooked, the Boiled Pig Kidney was still decent. The Fried Belt Fish was okay, and I did not really like the Jelly Fish & Cumcumber or the freebies they gave us. As a whole, I thought the dinner was not bad and I would return to try more dishes. Nothing here really blew my mind, but the prices are so inviting.

They offer soup with a baby abalone in it too!! Very underrated. The soup was well received. The dishes were good. Ordered seafood casserole, fried squid, and wenzhou fried noodles. All non noodles dishes comes with rice. The wenzhou fried noodles is interesting as it comes with their version of braised/dried "lap yuk". They also offer a 4 choice & 1 soup lunch selection for $9 (M-Sat 11 to 3pm)($8 for 3 choice). MUST TRY! I will come again!

Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse is considered an upscale complete with table linens, celebratory atmosphere, and "all-you-can-eat" venue, typically with a bustling, energetic Southern Brazilian cuisine, serving churrasco barbecue style meats and traditional side dishes. This location is in Elmhurst, Queens, NYC and adjacent to Queens Center Mall where patrons can shop and subsequently conclude the day with a wonderful meal. Party of two for "All For One Price" continuous, fire-roasted cuts brought to your table, endless sides, and seasonal specialties from the Market Table - all for one price. The "Market Table" is a open buffet which includes fruits, vegetables, and seafood. This Market Table is very large. Food is very fresh and abundant readiness. I made the mistake to ruin my appetite with crackers mere hour before sitting at our table. Fire roasted meat distribution to table and carved with patrons catching a piece using a tong. Fogo is a meat lover's paradise for a heavy steak meal. The bottom sirloin or bacon wrapped steak, is noted by Yelpers, always dry. The parmesan crusted pork is flavorful and surprisingly juicy. I highly enjoyed the salmon and Caesar salad. The Green Card system is a signaling device used in traditional Brazilian service, known as Churrasco which allows patrons to control the pace of a meal of the "all-you-can-eat" buffet experience. Green Side (Go): When you place the card with the green side facing up, it signals the Gaucho chefs that you want to continue receiving service. Continuous Service: Chefs will frequently visit your table to carve various fire-roasted meats directly onto your plate, including signature cuts like Picanha (top sirloin), Filet Mignon, Ribeye, and lamb chops. Red Side (Stop): When you need a break or are finished, you turn the card to the red side to signal the chefs to stop. Rosé, Montes "Cherub" Colchagua Valley, Chile Dry, seductive, and elegant, it is a very smooth good finish. This wine may me float. I always have a predilection for wine. Caipirinha, Brazil's national cocktail This drink is made with cachaça (a sugar cane), hard liquor, sugar and lime with ice. It's refreshing for my friend. Chocolate Molten cake with vanilla ice cream One word: WOW! Customer service is very attentive and polite with kindness in a celebratory positive mood. Our party of two were inquired if we needed anything during mid-dinning experience and my friend requested Brazilian grilled cheese, espetinhos de queijo with honey. Pão de queijo, Brazilian cheese puff bread is served. High ceilings and there is a large relief statue of Antônio Caringi, Brazilian sculptor (1905-1981). Business cards and mints are abundantly available for grabs. I strongly suggest table reservations in advance, particularly for weekends and holidays as this large dining hall was bewilderingly very quickly filled as we dined on extreme artic cold February, Saturday. Every day can be one's birthday celebration. I think being alive with another tomorrow is a reason to be celebratory. I would surely return for another visit - enter empty stomach.
