Now, it's simply an extension of the Cantonese cuisine being served 100 feet away. Due to their recent deals on live seafood, I have been here a few times with family and friends. The best deal is definitely a lobster cooked anyway you like for $10 plus 30% cooking fee ($3). In other words, $13 for a lobster or two for $26. However, be warned that ordering more lobsters will be $15 each plus 30% ($4.50), which means it $19.50 per lobster or $39 for two. There! i did the math for you. All live seafood in the tanks are priced the same way. After the cooking charge, most prices works out similarly compared to other competitors, if not higher. So don't fall for it. One of the other great deals I found was $20/lb for geoduck. We had one portion sashimi style and fried the belly portion. Both were delicious. Other than the live seafood tanks, I thought their best items were the Fried Salt & Pepper Pork Chops and Deep Fried Flounder (biggest size I have ever seen in a Cantonese restaurant). Roasted Squabs were decent too. I think I still prefer Golden Wonton King next door slightly more, but it's nice to have an alternative when there is a long line next door. read more

It's spacious, but get here before 11am on a weekend if you want to secure a seat easily. The tables really started filling up once the 11am mark hit. Recommended dim sum dishes: * The cha siu pastry: it was buttery, flaky, and sweeter than usual (which I enjoyed). It ate more like a sweet pastry, rather than a savory pastry, because the cha siu filling was pretty thin. *Fried taro puffs: filling was great to ensure the taro isn't cloggy. *Cha siu bao: the bun was pillowy soft. *Request a side of chili oil: mild, not spicy, but will go well with a bunch of dishes that don't come with a sauce. Would not recommend: * The egg tarts: the pastry had a bit of a sharp butter aftertaste. It tasted buttery in an unpleasant way: not nutty and rich at all. The parking situation: There is a parking lot attached, which is advertised as free, but it does require a $4 tip for the valet downstairs. Went out for the usual Chinese food dinner, other places had something to eat while waiting for the food but there was no peanuts while waiting for the food. Maybe they are trying to respect peanut allergies? Pretty spacious and comfortable to sit in. The food was decent. I believe there was parking but we didn't park in it. Also paid about the 30% cooking fee for the crab but I don't think I've ever paid a cooking fee for other restaurants before.. so not sure if the price of the crab was cheaper and just added a cooking fee on top? My parents brought me here for dimsum on a Thursday morning before noon. The dimsum really surprised me! This restaurant was among a list of restaurants that they had visited recently and I didn't expect much. But all the dishes we ordered was great besides the Wu Gok which was on the cold side but still juicy and tasty (juices were a little hardened). The Ngau Cheung was silky. Pai Gwut had a unique seasoning, on the sweet side more than savory. The Siu Mai consisted of a strong mushroom flavor which I personally enjoy. If you like seafood, this is the place you should go. Food is fresh and delicious and the service is great. They have great variety of seafood. However, Please be aware the seafood price is wholesale price. You need to add 30% cooking charges on it but it's still a reasonable price compare to other seafood restaurant. I came to Golden Hot Pot King for our anniversary dinner, and while the restaurant itself is beautiful--the space, chairs, atmosphere, and view are all very nice--the service and food experience were extremely disappointing. We waited about 45 minutes for our FIRST food, only for the wrong food to arrive. We ordered squid and scallops in XO sauce. When the dish finally came, the waiter told us, "Sorry, we don't have scallops, so we put something else in it." Excuse me? If scallops were unavailable, we should have been told BEFORE the kitchen decided to substitute another ingredient without asking us. What if I am allergic? You do not let customers wait 45 minutes and then casually tell them you changed their order which we found out that the scallops and squids were available after escalating the issue. We also ordered Cantonese clams, but they brought us clams with bean sauce instead twice. We refused the incorrect dish, which meant waiting AGAIN. At that point, we had been waiting around 50 minutes for the food we actually ordered. When we complained about the wait, the response was basically, "Sorry, everybody is waiting for their food." That is not an acceptable explanation. I came here to eat and I am paying for my meal. I am not eating for free. A restaurant being busy is the restaurant's responsibility to manage, not the customer's responsibility to accept. After all of these mistakes and the extremely long wait, the only compensation we received was two small yellow and white puddings. No manager came over to properly address what happened, and there was no meaningful attempt to make things right, such as adjusting the bill. As for the food, it was edible, but in my opinion, it is nowhere near the level of the Chinese restaurants in Flushing that I regularly compare this type of food with. I actually regret not checking the reviews before coming. After dinner, I finally read them and saw other customers describing similar problems with long waits and service. Had I checked first, I probably would have chosen somewhere else for our anniversary. Golden Hot Pot King, you need to learn from your competition. Look at Szechuan Mountain House, Jiang Nan, CheLi, Szechuan Opera--or even Golden Wonton King, which is not far from you. Golden Wonton King shows what "golden" should actually mean. The food, atmosphere, and especially the service need to be competitive with the restaurants around you. A beautiful restaurant is not enough. Good business means good food, accurate orders, communication, and respect for your customers' time. I am willing to come back in the future to see whether things improve, and if they do, I will gladly update my review. But if nothing changes, I will also be just as willing to tell people exactly what my experience was. Wow! I was utterly blown away by the food at this spot. I wish I lived closer so I could frequent this spot! My party of three had a whole lobster, whole dungeoness crab, a vegetable, and a soup all together and it was ~$50 per person, not bad at all! Mid food and hidden surcharges. Despite the $10 advertised lobster deal posted outside, you are charged a 30% service fee, so youre actually paying $13 for the first two lobsters. There's also an addituobal upcharge of another $13 to add noodles to your lobster. They also charge an additional percentage on the amount if you don't pay cash. I have come to restaurant 2 times, the first time the food was amazing and the staff was attentive. I definitely did not feel that way the 2nd time we came here. The staff came to take the order but felt like they were avoiding us after that, they did not come by to check up on us. It was hard to flag down somebody to put additional orders for extra items. On top of that, the chicken that we did order was out of stock. They did not remove that from the bill, which I realized after I went home! I did call them and they were opened until 2am. They told me to come back for the money, which they did give me. This could have been avoided if the bill was corrected. This resulted in wasted time. This is a delightful place the have hotpot or a nice Chinese dinner. They have several hotpot tables, large tables in the center for regular dining and private rooms for parties. This place currently has specials going on for assorted seafood (lobsters, fish, geoduck....). The wait staff is very attentive. From taking your order, making recommendations to changing your plates when it fills up with bones. We had the lobster with sticky rice, half chicken with ginger and scallions, Peking pork chops and vegetables. Free fresh Fruits and sweet soup as dessert! The overall quality was good! Golden Hot Pot King has become one of our favorite spots to go for hot pot or traditional Cantonese food. We love the lobster sticky rice and the promo they have for seafood! The hot pot is a la carte but they do offer a good selection with fresh seafood, meats and veggies. They also have a superior sauce station that gives you suggestions on how to make your sauce (which I always appreciate because I get so overwhelmed). It used to come with complimentary ice cream after your meal but they took that away recently and now offer red bean soup instead. Their mango coconut jelly is also a standout for dessert or appetizer that's part of their unlimited sauce/appetizer bar. I didnt have high expectations for this place but it blew my mind! Ive dined here for hotpot and "normal" food and they were both positive experiences. My most recent visit was to try their hotpot so I have more recollection from that visit. We ordered a variety of food such as tripe, pork liver, oysters, shrimp balls, pea-shoots, etc. Everything tasted fresh! Service was decent too. Id say my favorite thing from this place is their congee hot pot base. Its so yummy to drink it by itself after cooking all the food in it and all the flavors have marinated. It reminds me of century egg congee (皮蛋粥). I was lowkey expecting some century egg to pop up whilst drinking it. I also enjoyed their cold appetizers. My favorite was the cucumber (vinegar+garlic taste) as it had the perfect amount of sourness. Not impressed with the place, they are the sister restaurant to Golden Wonton King, they have the same lunch menu the only difference is Golden Hot Pot King also serves Dim Sum. You would think that a sister restaurant that is only two stores away that serve the same lunch menu would be the same but it's not, GHPK lunch dishes are smaller in size, you get no soup but the prices are the same as GWk. They need to bump up the amount of staff and cooks since this place is larger than GWK. They need more staff for the dim sum carts 3 is not enough during lunch time hrs. Most of the dim sum we tried lack flavor and there wasn't that much variety to go around. If you must go, you should try Golden Wonton King first, the food is much more in value and you get a soup with your meal, they have limited dim sum, but at least they are hot and has flavor. Came here for mother's day in VIP room 9. There is KTV and fits 12 adults, has a mini couch area for kids! The hotpot was delish, everyone gets their own pot and the best dish was the salt and pepper crab. Crab meat was plentiful and fresh! While it's not all you can eat, there is a plus side to ordering as you go so you don't feel like you need to stuff yourself. It was an interesting hotpot plus hot dishes combo and works out well bc my mom doesn't like hotpot and we got to order seafood for her instead.
