Friend from Ireland arrived and he was in the mood for fish and chips. We always liked the version here, so he wanted to come back. I ordered the $14 nachos - yikes, that was a really sad little pile of nachos there. Only the top was thinly layered with any of the toppings listed on the menu like pico de gallo, barely anything below the top layer of tortilla chips, and any of the usual melty cheese was already cold and hard. Irish fried liked his fish, but not the chips. I did take a little bite of the fish and it was done well. But most of all, it was really, really loud in here. Don't expect an intimate setting for a lovely conversation because you're going to have to holler in order to be heard above the roar of other voices. What a great spot for a delicious selection of beers and cocktails and some really good grub. Sadly it won't be around much longer as it's been sold to let the owners retire. So hopefully the name change and new owners don't change too much because the food and atmosphere were great. Fish and chips was one of the best I've had around. Great vibe inside with high tops and low tops and a bar to sit at, some outdoor seating for the nicer weather, there is some parking in front of and behind the establishment. Meh. I really wanted Keg & Kitchen to rate well, because as you walk through, it's a very nice setup. The inside is spacious and tasteful. It was clean, (smelled a little funny though) and was quiet for a Thursday happy hour. The hostess was friendly and sat us, giving us a food menu, a drink menu, a BEER menu, and a QR code to the rest of the menu. (Specifically, the kids menu section.) A little overkill, but whatever.....we wait for our server. Our server was a big bloke that was nice, but not overly concerned with us in any real fashion. (Details to follow). We ask for an apple juice for the little one, (no apple juice), then decide on a chocolate milk and some fries to be put in right away. When the waiter returns, I ask him for the straight dope on their fish and chips; I have a thing with fish and chips, in that I have YET to get a decent one at ANY. PLACE. I'VE. ORDERED. THEM. AT. since having good ones ONCE at a British pub in Minnesota. He rated them a "7.5 out of 10," and told me that they don't use Cod, instead using some "flaky fish that tastes like catfish," that he couldn't name. I went instead with the short rib grilled cheese, and the Misses got the blackened Mahi Mahi tacos. It took pretty damn long for the food to come out, while the ENTIRE TIME, some weird dude with a mustache made laps around the dining room. I THINK he was an employee, but he walked past our table FOUR TIMES, in the same direction, before I pointed out to my wife that he was making me nervous. He had a scowl, and literally just paced through the dining room like an angry panther. Very offputting. While keeping an eye out for the wandering mystery man, I notice a sign on the wall that mentioned a $5 happy hour old fashioned. I get another server to track down OUR server, and ask him about happy hour. "I can do drinks, but I can't do food." (Turns out Happy Hour is only at the bar....*eye roll emoji* Hate places like that.) So, I order the Old Fashioned, and it arrived in like a thimble. The Misses asked if I ordered a shot. *sigh* I WILL say, in full disclosure, that the drink did pack a punch though...so at least theres that. Anywho, the food is brought out by the runner, and we tuck in. It's here I was glad that I went grilled cheese, as the server absolutely recommended it over the fish and chips, and it was just meh. I can't imagine how angry the fish and chips would have made me. As we are eating, we realize that we were never given silverware, or even napkins, so I catch our server taking just those same things over to ANOTHER table, and ask if we can maybe have some, and he obliges. It's weird there were service hiccups and such a wait for our simple order, when we were LITERALLY the only people when we walked in, and then only 2 other parties came in while we were there. It wasn't swamped by any stretch. Short rib grilled cheese, fish tacos, $5 old fashioned shot, side of fries, Iced tea and chocolate milk came out to $60. Not egregious, but definitely not worth it, IMHO. Again, the ambience of the place is nice, and they even allow dogs in their outside seating area, but I just won't be in ANY rush to get back here. read more

It took two visits to the hostess stand in the main room for the manager to finally admit that AC was broken and offer to move us. Our meal had been fully served at this point so it would have been an undertaking to move. Absolutely ridiculous that they would seat people in a space that didn't have functioning AC without full disclosure. Great bar, friendly staff but the food is overpriced. This tiny burger, what they call the "Double K", is $17! It was tiny with a stale bun and that's extra lettuce? We asked for extra lettuce. I know my picture makes it look larger but it was 6 oz of meat, before cooking. Drinks were good though and like I said, the staff is very nice. The restaurant is very pretty and the bar is substantial. I guess we'll give it another try, as we enjoyed our bar experience. read more

Keg and Kitchen is a nice local bar on the main Westmont drag of Haddon Ave. It's so nice to have bars smack in between dry towns. My experiences have always been pleasant and, so far, bar only. The beer selection is typically good and will have a gem from time to time. Their craft selections tend to be local, which is great to support the community. I've only had tacos and various bar bites but everything has been tasty and prepared as ordered. From time to time they even have events! Most recently I attended for their Yacht Rock night. It's a good option if you are looking for a restaurant with a bar in this area. read more

Listen everyone's dining experience is different and I am just giving mine. I went in on a Sunday afternoon with my daughters. There was a crowd which was cool but I just didn't feel like we fit in there. As soon as we were seated everyone looked at us even the waitstaff as if we didn't belong there... not sure why. The waitress was ok nothing wrong with that. The food was just ok as well. Nothing that stood out to me. I don't think I'll go back because my first impression was not a good one. A nice step up from the usual restaurants on Haddon Avenue in both decor and menu. I've been here dozens of times over the years, and it's always a perfect experience. I've sat in the outside beer garden on a warm summer afternoon, in the main room, at the bar, by the fireplace on a snowy night... There really isn't a bad seat in the place. Came here most recently for the USA/England World Cup game today with my girlfriend and 8-year-old son. The place was filled but not packed. My son had the Mac and cheese off the kids menu, and my girlfriend and I shared the beef pot stickers. Both items were excellent. The menu is small but everything is good and fresh with rotating items. The beer menu here is great which we appreciate too, being the beer nerds we are. Our server, Anne, was fantastic. My son asked if they had any crayons and paper and she procured a full box and some repurposed old menus for him. Though it was busy, we never had to wait long for her to stop by to ask if we needed any more drinks or food. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who hasn't tried it yet. Tried this place on a whim as it's hard to get last minute reservations on a Saturday night. The staff at the front is super nice, and try to accommodate you quickly. I was first in line for a table, and was told that the wait time was unknown. I decided to wait anyway. I waited at the bar for a drink, and the bartender recognized that we were trying to order and gave us drink menus!! That has never ever happened to me before- usually i am fighting to get the bartenders attention. Shortly after i got my drink, my table was ready. We were able to order food and drinks, both which came out pretty quickly. Waiter was attentive, and came to check on us for drinks/food. Got the asparagus fries per rave reviews on Yelp, and they were pretty good. Would get this again. The beet salad was really good as well as the quesabirria. The meat was not chewy, and the consume was tasty. Lastly, got the brownie for dessert. It was a bit sweet for my taste, but was soft and chewy. I liked the bits of crunchy toffee inside the brownie. I've finally returned after years of a bad experience and it is during the phase 2 covid-19 era. First, I felt very safe eating here. All the staff were masked, gloves and they had hand sanitizer that they used. The outdoor only is of a small beer garden, umbrella and picnic tables and high tops with a full covered rain or shine tent. Each table is well spaced. The sitting time max is 1 & 1/2 hours per table, which is 100% cool considering the situation. The hostess was welcoming and masked as well. 5 stars for the service and staff. The menu is new and we went vegetarian with tempura cauliflower tacos and beyond burger. My husband and I shared plates during our lunch. The beyond burger definitely had a grill style, although I like a bean-based patty much more. Still, not bad. I could taste the pickles and onions. It really just reminded me of a plain and simple no-frills burger. The tacos---pretty much the same, no frills. There was a little kick of heat, but not much at all. The soft shell was enjoyable but I would like more of a crunch. I think something was missing for this to be a winner. The last two times I've had food from Keg and Kitchen they've prepared my meal incorrectly and have forgotten ingredients and nearly the whole meal. The first time they prepared my burger with unmelted cheese and missing toppings and the second time I ordered nachos to go and it had maybe 1/4 of a Jalapeño and a single tablespoon of beans and other toppings. I'm legitimately upset because it cost around 14 dollars and I basically got chips and one spoon of toppings; what a waste. I doubt I will come back again and I can no longer recommend Keg and Kitchen as it's severely declined in quality and value. read more

Went here with a friend on a Friday night and it was a little packed, as it should be. We got a few appetizers (cauliflower tacos and everything pretzel bites) and my god, they were both delicious. Also, very generous portions. She got a draft beer which she said was "heavy and satisfying" (if that means anything to you beer people) and I had a margarita. I have to say, I'm not usually a marg-girl, but this one was delectable. If we had stayed longer I would have been in trouble with those margaritas! The lack of a star is purely because the selection of food and drink was a little lacking. There weren't a ton of options and due to that I ended up ordering a sandwich to go that I ate maybe a half hour later and didn't very much enjoy (fried chicken.) But that was my personal experience. Randomly came across this spot with the help of Yelp. I picked it because of its options for non meat eaters (husband is pescatarian). I really liked the decor, gave me chill laid back vibes. I ordered the grill cheese and it was delicious. Only complaint I have is it says blueberry and there were no blue berries. They should have at least mentioned them. First time here for brunch with friends. I definitely enjoyed the $3 mimosa which was served promptly. The room can get loud and it was difficult to hear others at the end of the table. Next time, I might request one of the smaller tables against the wall that might buffer the noise level. I had the spinach, applewood bacon and cream cheese omelet which was served at room temperature -I really prefer my food hot when placed in front of me. The coffee was refilled several times as well but again, not terribly hot. And a brief comment: it was served with a single piece of toast. I don't need the carbs but just never ran across that during a restaurant breakfast meal. I decided to not make a comment only because we were a large group and I know timing can be tricky. I'm here for Chef Sam Choy! It's my first time here at Keg and Kitchen. Casual atmosphere which is great after a long day at work. Ample parking . Ann was a great host and server. Taste of the Island Dinner with Chef Sam Choy was amazing!!! 3 Courses!! First Course was a menagerie ( Pupi Platter). Check out the menu. I included it as a pic. . Second Course, I chose the New Zealand King Salmon. I was told it flew in from New Zealand. The salmon and the yahi soba noodles melted in my mouth. The salmon and its skin was cooked to perfection!!! I wish my friends came with me. This Coconut Island Butter Mochi with coconut pudding fresh fruit is divine. All the different textures. It's refreshing and light fulfilling your sweet tooth craving. The highlight of the evening was netting Chef Sam!! I told him I came just because he was the chef. I told him everything was perfect! We have liked this place in the past, but their "Best Happy Hour on the Avenue" (meaning the Haddon Ave strip in Haddon Twp with several drinking establishments), is bogus, and more than a little misleading IMO. First of all, it ends at 5:30. Some of us have to work, so this early end time is an issue. But more significantly, you have to sit at the bar, or at this one "long table" next to the bar to get the Happy Hour prices. So tonight, when my spouse and I got there at 5:00 to try this Happy Hour for the first time, but were then told this, the bar was full (about 10 people) and the long table had about 10 people spread out along this "long table". The hostess made a show of trying to seat us, but we wouldn't have even been sitting next to each other. And even if we had, we would have been jammed up against other people we don't know. Meanwhile, the rest of the restaurant was almost empty, with room for 60-80 people. Which is not surprising, considering no Happy Hour if you sat in these other empty spaces. Seems dishonest - draw people in with these great Happy Hour "deals", knowing that most people coming in for same won't get said deals, but will presumably stay and pay full price. Incidentally, we did not stay. There are half a dozen other options within walking distance, including a Happy Hour just a stone's throw away, that doesn't make you sit in a designated area. read more

During music events it gets very loud and service is pretty slow during peak hours. If they improved the service it would be 5 stars Food we got Vegan nachos: pretty good, no complaints other than the distribution of toppings not being the best Dan Dan noodles: for the price it's a great deal. Could easily be a full meal despite being a starter dish Pierogi poutine: sounds better then it is. This place really went downhill when it comes to food! It used to be good, and my last visit was SO bad. My flounder BLT came out very dry. I had to send it back as the bacon was burnt and the Sammy was so bad I couldn't eat it: the service was great and they gave me an order of birra quesadillas to take home as I didn't eat much of the BLT. I came home excited to finally eat and the birra meat was also VERY dry and the dip did not taste like Birria at all, and I've had a lot of Birria tacos :(.
