Was really looking forward to Kellari's Lobster Feast offered on Sundays only. Nice airy room with high ceilings/wooden beams and lush flowers. The friendly host offered us a "quieter table" in the front area near the bar instead of the main dining room, which we naively accepted. Wrong decision, service was poor and excruciatingly slow. That gave us plenty of time to chat with the nice woman sitting next to us who had been there for hours (not by choice). The manager came over to apologize for the wait but we saw other parties come and go as we sat there, so obviously there was a problem with our waiter and/or area. As for the "lobster feast," Kellari's website stated that we would share a 4 pound lobster for two. False Advertising! Instead we each got a paltry 1.5 pound lobster with no sides, a side of potatoes (albeit delicious) were $10.00 extra. Hubbie got his lobster stuffed ($10.00 extra), said stuffing was kinda dry and not worth the surcharge. Salad app was fresh and had yummy fresh feta and figs. Baklava and chocolate desserts were both yummy. Manager comped us a small glass of dessert wine after dessert, a nice touch In light of Kellari's good food and lovely decor I've decided to give them another try, but will avoid the lobster (not) feast and sit in the main dining room next time. read more

This is one of the best restaurants in all of New York City. The staff is very personable and welcoming. The ambiance is brilliant--high ceilings and gorgeous decor. The music is exotic and upbeat, but not overbearing. The bartender Matt made me a delicious and beautifully garnished espresso martini . It doesn't end there! Visited Kellari on Monday with my mother. We sat outside which was very nice, they had heat lamps turned on which made it comfortable for when it got colder later in the evening. We had come during happy hour so we ordered cocktails, I had the sparkling pear and she had the Campari cosmopolitan. For dinner I ordered from the price fixe menu. I had the calamari, lamb shank and the yogurt pie for dessert. Everything was very good and the service was excellent. I look forward to coming back again. read more

Me and my boyfriend came here because I wanted to get cash back on one of my apps. It was such a cute and cozy place when you walk in. Everyone from the host to the servers were wonderful and efficient! We ended up doing the prefixed brunch which is something I will shout out the restaurant for because not a lot of restaurants will do it for two people so kudos to them. I ordered a kale Caesar salad which was bomb. For my entree I ordered the kotopoulo which was bomb dot com. The chicken was just delicious and I loved the pita bread with the hummus! My boyfriend had the spanakopita for his first course and it was delicious! Gotta love warm spanakopita for his entree he had a burger which he said was delicious as well! Came here for a lunch meeting with an old guy, who claimed he was Greek, and said this is a good Greek restaurant. That's a good reference from a credible source. I'm trying to be healthy, so I had the Greek salad, but not that healthy, so I added octopus. It was delicious and I think it was healthy. Both ordered the grilled lamb chops, but they were overcooked (we ordered medium rare but they arrived a solid medium, making them tough) and lacked seasoning (salt would have gone a long way). Met up with a friend for a light dinner and this place is really good. I had the Kellari chips - nice and crispy, not greasy and a great tzatziki sauce to go along with it. Good location, between 5th and 6th avenue and you can even grab an apple as you're walking out of the restaurant. The bill turned out to be for 24 bottle of wine - nobody drank much - and for way lower quality food than on the menu. e.g the menu shows an arugola salad with pomegrante, walnuts and manouri cheese. I booked Kellari for my mom's 80th birthday as they were visiting from Canada to see a show. The staff made her experience so incredible. She was overwhelmed with gratitutde .... as am I. The food was incredible, there were thoughtful touches added by their server Sylvie and others. Thank you Georgos and Anastasia as well! I think this is one of the best places in New York. Hands down the best seafood I've had in NYC. The star of the show is the Octopus. Wow! Beaten, Boiled and Grilled over charcoal, the smokey and rich flavor literally blew me out of the water. The Greek salad is legitimate: no lettuce, just fresh cut vegetables with a simple dressing of olive oil & red wine vinegar. And that's just the appetizers. One should visit Kellari Taverna on W44 between 5th and 6th Avenue near the famous Harvard Club and others. Also, they own other restaurants like Strip House and others in NYC. We have gone to some financial presentations where we enjoy fine service with 4 courses. First we have at times 4 different hummus and I really enjoy the smoked one. Next we have the salad with tasty feta, olive oil dressing and different vegetables prepared different ways. Then we have a choice of 4 dishes. I had and enjoyed half lemon chicken. Other times I have salmon that has a slight grilled taste or sea bass. We have red or white wine with the waiters coming around to refill. Then we have a dessert plate of fruits, baklava, cheesecake and others that is plenty for the table. read more

Located just a stones throw from Times Square, Kellari is a wonderful oasis from the hustle and bustle. They've managed to carve out a true outdoor dining experience, complete with traditional Greek rattan chairs and grape vines, adding both ambience and practicality to the decor. The food is amazingly fresh and inspired and like the decor, authentic. Service was accommodating and friendly (although we did need to ask for someone to take our drink order, but after that things got much better). What can I say about Kellari. It's overpriced with under whelming food. Had a kale and shrimp salad that was over dressed and similar to what I could have purchased at almost any deli. Also had a burger which was over cooked came with cold steak fries. Iced tea was $5.50 each and they charge for a refill so two teas and two refills was $22. Avoid it if you can. Had a wonderful experience at Kellari and honestly if my friend hadn't told me about it I wouldn't have known about it! The space is tremendous and I've been in few places this large. In terms of drinks I suggest the wine as they have a great selection and the staff is wonderful with recommendations based on what you're ordering. When you come here you HAVE to get seafood. It's what they specialize in (not to mention sustainable) and it is beyond fresh. The scallops, octopus and salmon we had were all cooked perfectly. If I were to skip anything it would be the potatoes because you really don't need it.
