The service tech was personable and within 15 minutes of inspecting my crowded basement he found several food sources i had inadvertently left behind. After removing the food source he found several openings that the mice were using to gain access to the basement. He promptly sealed off these areas. Oh wow where do I start. So around October of 2023 I ran into a huge ant infestation. My mom told me to call her pest company. I said ok cool I trusted it since she's been using them for awhile. I called and the receptionist said they would call me to schedule a time they can come. No one called I couple days passed and I called back she said the same thing. So that day I did get a call and we scheduled a time and day. They came and sprayed around the perimeter once. I asked if they go under the house they said no. I knew that's where the problem was since it's under my kitchen. So that first spray didn't work. They came and sprayed again. It didn't work. My father in law went under the house and found a couple ant piles he sprayed raid and finally it worked until the ants came from another area I calls Kelly again. They came and sprayed the inside. That didn't work. They came again and sprayed through vents on the outside to get under the house. After awhile it did finally work. Now comes Feb 2024. They tell me they have an appt for the next spray. I rescheduled since no one was going to be home. They didn't show up or call for that appt. So I texted to find out about that appt no apology no nothing. They said oh we'll contact you once the rain stops the schedule something. The rain stopped no one contacted me. So I texted again to schedule we had an appt today. I've been home all day still am and I check my email I have an invoice for today from them saying they came and rang the doorbell and knocked on my gate no answer. What! No way! I've been home my kids have been in the living room no doorbell nothing? They only sprayed the front of my house! How effective is that and if that's the case why would I keep trying to schedule a time when I'm home for you to come when I'm not home! They didn't even call me to see if I was here. That doesn't make sense. The whole point is for me to be home so you can spray around my whole house! I honestly feel like they were lying. We had a nasty rat infestation in the crawl space. Among other problems, the rats got into the heater ducts. One of them died there and the smell made the room unlivable. Other rooms smelled of their urine. They also got out and ate the skin off of lemons on our lemon tree and ate the spill from our bird feeders. Kelly went in and thoroughly sealed every little hole and gap in the crawl space where they could get in or out. He unhooked the contaminated ducts and cleaned them out. Then he set traps, and came back three or four times to empty and reset them. He caught a half dozen rats, some of them scary big. I have been a long time "subscriber" to Kelly Pest after an epic ant invasion in a rental home years ago. When we moved, I knew I wanted to take their service with us. So I called, thinking I would have to pay again to start my service in the new home. Nope! The service plan stays with me and they came and sprayed and all was good- no additional charge! But wait- it gets better. So we're in our new home and my son hears scratching. We think- oh no! Maybe there are rats! I call the next morning at 8:30am and leave a message. I didn't know if Kelly Pest did anything with suspected rats... I get a text back an hour later wondering what time he could be over! I had a rodent (rodents?) in my walls and John came by on the same day as I called to take a look around my house and identify some spots where they could be getting in. I did all the actions he suggested and a week later we could still hear them so he came by again and we dug a little deeper. On that 2nd visit we found the access point and he assured us that with some traps and sealing off the access we would be fine. He was right! And he charged us $75 for the first visit which we can use toward future services with him and nothing at all for the 2nd visit. I've had an ant problem for as long as I could remember, and starting having a rat issue. I tried using my own traps from stickers, regular snap traps and those fancy electrical ones. The rats would escape from the stickers (the one that really bothered me was how it managed to eat the top part of the bait and not get its paws into the sticky part). I would hear my traps go off, but probably didn't set them up properly as the bait would be licked clean off but the trap was set off. Oh, and they didn't even bother going into electrical ones. I felt like I was Wile E. Coyote, Tom or Sylvester and these rats were just outsmarting me (which they were). So I gave in and decided to call a professional, and boy am I glad I did. John took a look and confirmed it was definitely a rat problem (I thought it might have been mice). He gave me a price which I thought was reasonable, especially if he would be able to get rid of these rats and ants. He got going right away setting up traps and letting me know to call him as soon as we caught one. He also began spraying the perimeter of my house with some ant repellent. I had my doubts about any of this working, but EVERY BIT OF IT did. The ants started disappearing, and though the ones inside would die inside, no new ones would come in. They used to swarm around any single crumb that would drop in the house. Now I actually have to look around to clean up since I can't use an army of ants as an indicator. Oh, the rats started getting caught several days later. I don't know what he did to make it work, but it blew my mind. These rats were pretty huge too. My friends said those rats looked like little dogs when I showed them pics. John was prompt in coming over to clean and reset the traps. He also took steps in prevention by sealing up some holes around the house. It's been nearly half a year since that issue and I haven't seen a single living ant in my house since. I found John Kelly, owner of Kelly Pest Control about 4 years ago, when the Quadroplex I live in had mice. Not only did John get rid of my mice, but he did so in the most humane way possible. That kind of consciousness is important to me (yes, I'm a tree hugging hippie at heart). He found the source of my problem and fixed that, when other pest companies only treated the symptom (traps and poison for the mice). He actually took the time to find the two small holes in the exterior wall where they'd been coming in.....and he repaired them! Problem solved. Six months later I got an influx of ants....HUNDREDS of ants!! Once again, John came out and unlike my previous pest person (who wanted to spray poison inside my silverware drawer in the kitchen !!!.....don't worry he said -- it's non toxic once it dries)....what a bunch of B.S. John said absolutely NO SPRAYING inside the house!! (thank you for sharing my sentiment about pesticides). Instead he placed some gel/bait in the strategic places and the ants carried it back to their nest to the Queen....and, tah-dah!!! No more ants. In fact, I've not had ants or mice since then. But I'm ashamed to admit that I have had fleas. And....yup....he fixed that too. With the drought, the flea population went bananas. I've since changed the topical flea preventative that I use on my dog and all is well again. But without his flea treatments, it would've taken me forever to get rid of those horrible things. He's been in the business over 25 years; he continues his education several times a year to stay on top of the latest technology in pesticides, and his is a Family Owned business. He came the very next day, knew exactly what kind of ants they were (Argentinian), and how to deal with them. These guys are great! We had a huge ant problem a while back. I tried to take care of it myself with ant traps, sprays, etc, but it spiraled out of control. Kitchen cabinets, bathrooms, bedrooms - ants were everywhere. Kelly Pest made a couple visits, worked their magic and problem solved!
