We went out looking for a "drank too much Miller Lite on the dance floor" breakfast and this was so much more. Delicious breads, pastries, and hot breakfast options (the Kelly's egg sandwich with bacon and smoked trout special were TO DIE FOR). Solid coffee - we go pretty basic but they have lots of syrups, seasonal / specialty options (like Vietnamese coffee), etc. Warm and fast service at 9am on a Sunday - comfy seating too! Update: My croissants and monkey bread were fantastic. They also had some interesting muffins like green tea- blueberry and the Earl gray-lemon. And their coffee is great! I'm looking forward to getting one of their sourdough boules. There was a line out the door at 9am but don't be concerned because it went quickly. I'm so happy to have found this place. read more

Give yourself 1 hour and 20 minutes and you better have thick skin to walk in these doors (or waiting outside - their line/register service is the most backwards half assed thought out thing I have ever seen in my life). You won't be greeted with a smile and you will wait in the tiniest area next to a garbage can for your food. What stinks the most is the food here is actually good and so is the coffee, but it's truly not worth the wait or the horrible staff and how the place is ran. Such a shame. Do better Kelly's. When a handful of people are complaining about the same thing, it's time for a change. read more

I've seen a bunch of reviews on the staff and as I've just recently began frequenting Kelly's and not ONCE had this issue so it breaks my heart. While I didn't take the time to learn their name, the young lady at the register with light curly hair, the guy with the man bun who makes the BEST lattes (highly suggest the lavender one) and a more mature lady who works the register is willing to take the time to learn my name! Y'all do great work, I honestly don't know who the owner is so I cannot speak to poor service because I've never received it. My only complaint is they're closed on Tuesdays and force me to get far less quality coffee but for what they produce Wed-Sun I'll take it :) If the wait is not great I suggest midday, there's ALWAYS a seat and NEVER a line of more then 2-3 people if that! read more

Very cute cafe. After hearing some talk about Kelly's Bakery around school (The CIA) I knew I had to check it out. One thing I hope in the future the bakery will change is their hours of operation! Couple days closed and only open in the morning and early afternoons. I made time to visit and the baristas are so lovely and welcoming. I had gotten the Lox Toast and quickly inhaled it all! The bread is so amazing, made in house, and the ingredients are very fresh. I do wish there was two pieces of toast however, but that's the American in me! I also grabbed a croissant which is delicious, made in house as well, very flakey and buttery. Cappuccino's are delicious and sized great. The restaurant does have limited space and is quite cozy, sometimes the line is quite literally out the door. The bathrooms are very clean and nice (has a great selfie mirror lol). read more

Amazing place. We've been driving to Kingston to stock up on artisan bread, pastries and croissants, but I'm thrilled that instead now we can visit Kelly's, which is only a 5 min drive. I've visited twice now and both times have been positive experiences. I am a croissant snob and these are literally some of the best I've ever tasted outside France- both plain and chocolate are on point I've also tried the chocolate babka, kale and cheddar scone, a baguette and country loaf. All delicious. As a bonus they have a bread slicer so when you buy a loaf they are able to slice it for you. I have my eye on the olive and onion loaf, potato cheddar as well as a decadent chocolate fig loaf for another time. Coffee is local from Irving roasters and we've had cortado, cappuccino as well as a pour over coffee. Tasty and hot. The inside is spacious, modern and cozy. They have a row of large garage doors that will be perfect for indoor/outdoor dining in the warm weather - can't wait! Currently they rotate breads daily and you can check the website for a list of what's available. They also serve breakfast/lunch items and small plates and are currently doing socially distanced dine in as well as takeout. We're so lucky to have this in P'ok. went by kelly's for the first time this morning before work as i had a gift card from xmas. i ordered kellys breakfast sandwich with added avo and a lavendar decaf espresso oatmilk latte. both were absolutely delicious. the people working were super welcoming; we chatted while my stuff was being made (before other customers came in). i highly recommend this place. they have brunch as well as baked goods and bread to go. super lovely space, lots of natural lighting and comfy atmosphere. gluten free/vegetarian options available (i'm vegetarian and felt safe eating what i ordered!). read more

Hands down and without a doubt, Kelly's is the absolute best bakery in Poughkeepsie. I've been coming to this treasure for years for its delicious and innovative lattes (black sesame, lavender, floral, chai, and spicy to name a few), which are huge crowd pleasers for me and my family. The baked goods are amazing (my kids loves the earl gray cake, scones, and assorted pastries and croissants), but we mostly adore the hot breakfasts. Our family faves include the mushroom toast, shakshuka, avocado toast, smoked salmon, and egg sandwich, which are always prepared to perfection and beautifully presented. The bakery itself is stunning: high ceilings, huge windows and mid-century decor. Like I said, there's nothing like it in Poughkeepie (that I'm aware of) in terms of vibe or quality of food). The owners Kevin and Darren are just lovely; always welcoming and eager to chat. Kevin makes time to catch up even when it's super busy and the lines snake out the door. I know how much love, sweat, and tears went into creating this gem of a place. These guys work so hard, waking at dawn to bake and and prepare for the day. The staff is wonderful, and they're such a dedicated crew. People travel from all over, and that's why there's always a line to get in! This is a family-run business that loves its community. But it doesn't mean that it's owed by YOUR actual family! Kelly's is a restaurant! I do wish that customers would respect common courtesy and etiquette: that means to refrain from bringing outside food and drinks, not skipping the line, and staying for a max of 1.5 hours. I'm shocked that some people take off their shoes, put their feet on the coffee tables, and bring their own meals as if they were dining in their own homes. Thank goodness that the majority of customers have manners. But I can imagine how stressful it is to deal with those entitled few who have no clue about how to behave in public. I hope Kevin and Darren continue serving our community for many more years to come. Poughkeepsie is better for having a place like Kelly's, and I look forward to stopping by every chance I can get! read more

This has to be the most frustrating place on earth. Up front, I've never eaten there or even tried any of the backed goods, other than the sour dough baguettes. They are on the pricey side - but so so very good. Now for the ugly: the owners are clueless on how to run a restaurant. The place is small, table space is at a premium. So they plop a huge useless couch where there could be money-making tables. Because table turnover is so slow, there is a line out the door. I want some bread. There are 15 people on front of me. I ask one of the counter people if there is a bread (or pastry) only line - something faster. "No" she says, "all these people want bread. So I watched. Not one person bought only bread. It took me a half hour for buy four baguettes. I've learned it is quicker to drive to Bread Alone in Rhinebeck and buy my bread. Again, so disappointing as they produce a good product. Reading the Yelp reviews, most complain about the rude management. Can't comment on that. The people working there are slow. Love to chat with friends buying food. So it all goes slower and slower. read more

Stopped in today with high hopes. The staff and food surpassed my expectations. Despite a large crowd, the staff were relaxed and informative while still being efficient. The monkey bread and Kelly's breakfast sandwich were top notch. I'm a black coffee drinker and was pleasantly surprised by a delicious cup of drip coffee that I was told is locally sourced. The atmosphere is light and airy as well as sophisticated. Looking forward to my chocolate babka! read more

This place is amazing!!! The owners are a delight the food is amazing I literally have no complaints. This place always has different things on the menu keeping it fresh and delicious. I bring my wife and kids here all the time my kids love it here. This place gets so busy cause so many people love this place I recommend getting there a little early. Cute bakery with a very nice hard working owner. Unfortunately the rest of the staff could teach a Master Class in incompetence--or they are purposefully trying to provide worst service possible with a (not so) passive aggressive desire to make you wait on line/wait as long as possible to order. And shockingly aggressively expect you to tip! 25% even for take out. This was not an isolated incident. The goal may be to be a "community" but the execution is simply incompetence and very poor service. Of course customers are important (to any business) but the lack of respect your staff shows to yours has resulted in your losing not just us (and as you know we have given you dozens of chances) but also too many others from what we have heard from many others being on your unnecessary lines. Right now I'm enjoying a scone at home from Kelly's Bakery. Okay, last week my BF and I visited nearly every morning for coffee and pastries, and each time, the experience was pleasant and welcoming. And they make a scone the way it's supposed to be made - not too sweet and more like bread/biscuit. Also last week, a colleague and I went for lunch and had their delicious grilled cheese with pear compote. Wow, so good! Last, I went there for a box of pastries for my office and, again, had great customer service and lovely choices for everyone. Last, I went there last semester to get gift cards for an Insta giveaway via my workplace, and though it took a little time, it took no trouble at all, and the recipients loved the gift cards. If you are any one with any self respect you will not visit this establishment. Because the review is not about a review of a bad behavior of an employee, which can be corrected, but someone related to the owner. I am absolutely shaken while writing this review. I visited this bakery today with my family (2 kids , one year old and a 4 year old), my wife and my 65 year old mother in law. We were happily settled into our seats , had all our food and focussing on finishing and obviously leaving. While we were 10% into eating the food, the owners husband comes is and literally tries to push the chair my 1 year was seated on, saying this chair belong to another spot which they wanted to give to another family. We were not offered an alternative to seat my 1 year old at this point, just that this chair is not yours and I am going to just take it away and give it to some one else. "How dare you move it. " Then when I asked where should I seat my baby, he brings in something that is absolutely not appropriate for a baby to sit on. I try to seat him, but at this point he starts crying. My whole family then got barked on , "You do not move furniture in some body's home" , this is not a home , this is a place of business which is open for all? My wife questions him why our family is being treated so differently, we have. And why it was ok to snatch the chair on which my baby was sitting for last 10 minutes to seat a new family that just arrived? Couldn't they be offered the extra seating that was later offered to us? At this point this man goes crazy and shouts at us that you are calling me words, where my wife never used any specific word. She simply questioned the preferential treatment given to another family. We have an extended altercation where to top it up he barked at my family "get out of my restaurant " . I was even questioned "not to raise my voice" ? Why should I not raise my voice when my family is being violated against ? At this point I told him I have Paid for the food and I will not leave. He can do whatever he likes. My whole family is shaken at this point and trying to grasp what to do? At this point Kelly comes and tries to apologize, and we appreciate that, but we could not bring ourselves to eat anything. We were offered ways to make up, but the apology did not come from the aggressor himself. He felt he was still right and we were wrong. I understand a new business requires a lot of hard work, but this type of behavior is unacceptable. I have also read a few more reviews about the same behavior with other individuals. Extremely disappointed , and will not recommend to anyone with self consciousness. I have never been asked to "Get out" of a restaurant for getting an extra chair for my son to sit. At this point we decided to just leave, having paid for the food, and not eating anything and literally shaken to the roots of what demanded this behavior to my family. It will take a few weeks for my family to get out of this traumatic experience. read more

Kelly's bakery has been the greatest addition to Poughkeepsie since I have moved here! (My biggest highlight I must say). They have such an amazing staff, Darrin, Laurie, Brandon and Leigh always have a warm smile and a quick step. Kevin is amazing, as well as all the back- of house staff, recreating each unique item better than the last. They continuously improve their processes (bread slicer, state of the art espresso machines etc) and make each experience memorable. The interior design is remarkable, giving it a home-y and warm feel. The ever-updating, delicious menu is one of a kind and will definitely spark your palate. If I were to place a bet regarding Kelly's, I'd go with a Trifecta: great food, great space, great owners and staff. The space is brightly lit, welcoming, and comfortable without being excessive, and I liked how they repurposed the decor of the building. The food is rich; my monkey bread croissant was just so buttery, and the cranberry-walnut scone puts to an end the concept of a dry scone. Now I need to come back for a brunch meal to try their BALT (because bacon, and because avocado). Everyone behind the counter was just so friendly and helpful, about as warm as the bright sunshine coming through all those large east-facing windows. After any morning rush, the space is pleasant and large enough for folks to sit inside to enjoy food and drink, but there's also a number of tables for dining outside in warmer weather. My only wish is that they had a jumbo sized coffee available to go with the confections, because it's very tempting to buy and eat more than one at a time, and just one coffee won't do. read more
