The food is good if you are served. Very poor service. While enjoying some entertainment on the patio, I placed an order. Although I waited for nearly two hours, I never received any food. There was one excuse after another. I was served one drink. At a previous visit, our bill was incredibly inaccurate - way overcharged. Ok, so we've returned a couple of times now both for lunch and dinner. It's pretty basic pub food and variety, pretty good but nothing overly exciting. The presentation of the food is above average although. It is, I feel, fairly on the higher end of cost for what it is. Also, I'm not certain if it's just us but, both times here and at one other establishment in Sandpoint, every time we eat there, we feel kind of stomach upset and get "the trots". We've kind of come to the conclusion that it may be tied to a certain fry oil they utilize. You be the judge as you may tolerate it just fine. Kelly's is interesting. The food flavor and quality actually far exceeds what one would expect from a tiny redneck town . Their buffalo chicken sandwich is perhaps one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had and certainly the best in the area . Everything I've had on their menu has been good but most things are very good . However the service and wait time is far from good . The servers/bartenders are not very polite and I found them to be very pushy about ordering more alcohol I specifically said I did not want another beer . My server brought another one anyway and when I said I didn't order it she claimed my fiancée did while I was in the restroom , she did not . It took 1 hour and 13 minutes from the time I ordered to the time I got my food . If you've got time to waste and don't care about service , but want good food and drinks this is the place for you ! read more

We were on a car tour, and had lunch here! We've been through Newport before, but never stopped here. It's a great not quite Hole in the Wall Restaurant, actually quite expansive and spacious inside. Food is wonderful, service is great, Hospitality was extraordinary, and the rest rooms are clean. Unfamiliar with the area and yelping gave me this gem. Nicely restored 100 year old building with original decor like a stamped tile ceiling. Great food, reasonable prices and fortunately, the service was the only part of this gastronomical delight that was less than stellar. My chili burger had a smoky charcoal grill flavor smothered with cheese, chilli and onions. The fries were crispy, tasty and fantastic. Seems that the regular patrons seated at the bar received a higher level of attention and service than the tables with diners. I received my only coke refill as I was ready to pay and leave. My associate ordered the "Timburger". 2 hamburger pattys, ham piled high, bacon slices, tomatoes and lettuce. So huge he could not take a bite of the entire sandwich at one time and YES the platefull included those fantastic fries. This large bar has sports on the big screens, lots of tables and a separate meeting room for banquets. It is a bar so children are not appropriate. Don't miss this great food! read more

Second oldest bar in the state of Washington and I happen to fall upon it's grace...and it's Taco Tuesday!C'MON Maaaan!!! So I indulged in some chicken tacos at $1.75 a pop. You have a choice of hard shell (corn) or soft shell (flour) or a taco bowl with either chicken or beef from 1.75 to $3.00 (bowl). I also had a side salad with balsamic dressing and a Top Frog Porter (beer). taco was good seasoned well with butt kicking salsa...a little disappointed in shell...but I made it work. Salad had real bacon topping with mixed greens diced tomatoes and cheddar cheese. The beer was on point.This establishment back in the day had a live bear where the kitchen is now located in the bar!!! If you drank too much the owners would take you and Place you in the cage with the bear...the bear just happened to be tame.... in order to sober you up....True Story!!!! read more

I loved learning about how it operated back in the early 1900s through a short tour by the waitress who was also the great granddaughter of John Koch, the original restaurant owner. She is amazing. Pleasantly surprised. We went through Newport on our way home and decided to stop for lunch at Kelly's Bar & Grill. Nakia was a great server and treated us like we were long lost friends. So needless to say the service was excellent. The food was delicious. We had the shrimp with onion rings and the chicken strips with fries and the 1894 coffee made especially for them by Cravens in Spokane. The history of Kelly's and the bar and tin ceiling made our lunch more than fun. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely return. read more

Here is another update for Kelly's...the business was sold some time ago. The new owners reached out to me. My experience now is that the food is very good and the service is outstanding. This place is just alright. If you're looking for more of a loud, bar-type atmosphere with decent, bar-type food, you've stumbled on the perfect place. If you're looking for a more quiet, cozy, family-friendly place, look elsewhere. We were able to snag a table in the back where thankfully it was a bit quieter. There are televisions, but only in the front of the place. I had the chicken strips and my boyfriend had the Western panini. Both were decent, and each came with a pile of above average fries. The service was also pretty good, but not stellar. I would probably recommend this place to a friend if they had nowhere else to eat. read more

We came for a wedding party rehearsal dinner and sat in a private room and dined on buffet items including salad, rolls, potatoes au gratin, spaghetti with meatballs and chicken cordon bleu. The salad was just plain iceberg lettuce with a variety of dressings available. The meatballs were really delicious! The chicken cordon bleu was pretty good as well and everything was served hot and fresh. They also had a nice selection of red wines including Bogle's Petit Sirah.
