We went here because my husband's grandmother loves the place and wanted us to take her, I'm not huge on southern food and didn't have the highest hopes, needless to say I was completely blown away. First off everyone is extremely friendly and helpful, it has such a small town diner vibe. Secondly the food was actually amazing. I don't love fried food but the batter they use is light and crispy and nothing was greasy at all you could hardly tell it had been in oil. Their mac and cheese is a little unique but super tasty and has a homemade feeling to it. The catfish had SO much meat on it and the pieces where huge. My husband had the burger and really enjoyed it, I did steal one of his onion rings and can confirm it's probably the best onion ring i've had. I also really enjoyed their sweet tea, it's not too syrupy and has a nice tea flavor. Definitely edible, definitely filling, but it won't change your life. Think Waffle House vibes, but with a little more wear on the floors and a bit less grease on the food. We stopped her after a wedding in Clarksville and it was good. It was really giving Waffle House and I actually love Waffle House so I was not upset about this choice. The food was good and you get a lot for a cheap price. It is definitely not over the top good, but it hit the spot. Went for dinner last night. Didn't want to spend a whole lot of money but wanted a good meal. Kelly's definitely delivered. The special was sloppy Joe's last night. They were homemade and tasty. Got mine with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. I couldn't eat it all, but it was a solid meal for the price. This place is always busy. And the food quality shows why. It's not gourmet. I went here because i had to get my brakes and rotors changed at Midas next door and was hungry. I had heard things before about this place but never had a chance to go. Here is my review. Atmosphere - like almost any diner like establishment, you have your basic 50's style design: spinning seats at the counter and pressed wood booths. The smell of food and sounds of chatter permeate the entire building but at a decent level. Service - the waitresses didnt notice me for about 5 minutes as they were engaged on other tasks. However, you do get that same kind of feel that you would expect in a diner: direct and upfront conversation. Polite and informative as well. Food (what you're really here for!) - I love trying multiple items at any establishment for the first time so i ordered a cheeseburger upgrade (6oz vs. 4oz for $1 upcharge), rocky top half size and a half size of biscuits and gravy along with a soda. The burger was cook mid with some pink which is how i like it. It was juicy but didnt have enough seasoning on it but solvable with salt and pepper. The biscuits and gravy were good but the ends of the biscuit were a little crunchy for me but the gravy was seasoned well. The rocky top reminded me of the everything hashbrowns you would get at Waffle House...only better. TL;DR - good food and environment. Try it at least once! read more

We ate here when we arrived a day early for a summer event at Austin Peay as it appeared to be nearest to our hotel. It is a small cinderblock diner in a not-so-lovely lot, well-worn and seeming to have been there quite a while. I thought the BLT was serviceable and my company enjoyed the cheeseburger. Being a Clarksville native I grew up seeing this place but never tried it until today while visiting. The food was decent I ordered the cheeseburger and fries. I was taken aback because it was kind of small compared to pictures Ive seen but I realize I didn't request it to be jumbo so that was on me. Anywho it's your old fashion burger which is good as I was in a nostalgic mood. The fries were extremely greasy and a bit too overcooked for my liking. My mom got the grilled ham cheese sandwich which she said was really good. Everything totaled about $21 and some change. My rating is primarily based on the fact that when our server came to take our order it felt like there was a bit of an attitude idk. You've got the lady at the counter with the southern Belle accent that makes it feel really homey when you come in no matter the time, I've never had a server that didn't actively engage in conversation with us, and you can SEE everything as they're making it. The food is also very good. My friend and I get something different every time but we love the chicken nachos as an appetizer. Ok... so the actual Kelly Big Burger is legit. Well seasoned, hot, bacon was cooked very well. Generally the food was good. But... the place is filthy. I get it, it's downtown and near campus, it fits the vibe. But it's pretty dirty in there. The bar top is covered crumbs and salt. Windows look like they have 20 years of filth on them. Lot of clutter. Floors are sticky. my kid got mid way thru his burger and pulled a long gnarly hair out of his burger (trying not to gag while doing so). I gave it two stars, because I actually enjoyed my burger. However, this is not a safe space if you are a part of any LGBTQ community. While sitting there, trying to enjoy our food. Another patron came into the diner for his to go order. He started to make homophobic comments out loud to the staff and other patrons in regards to a girlfriend and me. Nobody did or said anything. The AirBnB that I'm staying in recommend this place, so convinced my sister and almost 95 year old Mom to try lunch at this establishment today. The service was fine, although our server was brand new, and needed a reminder or too, but she always follow through with a smile. Everyone was so nice and sweet to our Mom, including other diners helping us navigate Mom's chair into the not exactly handicap friendly restroom TWICE. In all we had a blue cheese burger, bacon burger, onion rings, and French fries. All were as good as one could possible imagine. This is far from a fancy place, but so very friendly. I played Little League Baseball in Clarksville for the A's, sponsored by Kelly's Big Burger in the late 60's. At the end of the season Coach Kelly A invited us to his restaurant for a team dinner. What a wonderful memory and awesome experience! I recently relived my childhood memories by having breakfast with my daughter and her boyfriend at Kelly's! Great pork tenderloin and country ham on biscuits. The only thing that has changed in all of those years is I was not wearing a baseball uniform, my lack of hair tucked under my hat and there's not a Greyhound Bus Station next door.
