Used Yelp to find a new place to try on a Wednesday night. This place is downtown near Auston Peay. Doesn't look like much from the outside to be honest. Once inside, greeted with energy from the staff. The theme is everything Boston sports and a sampling of Austin Peay with red, black and white walls and floor. The menu is great, tons of options for sandwiches and burgers and typical sides and appetizers. Small variety of draft beer. Did not notice an liquor. This place was really cool and the staff was engaging and fun. The food was really good too!! I'll be back for sure, and recommend you check this place out too for a great sandwich!

Food was great. I ordered a mini cuban and fries. Service was friendly and attentive without being too much. It appears they have live music often as well according to the poster on the wall. They had a decent radio station playing as well, 90s MTV is the vibe I got. Fries are pretty decent with the seasoning salt they put on them. This place was referred by my sons therapist bc I said I miss sandwiches in NY. The Cuban wasn't as crispy on the edges as I may have liked but the flavor was on point. Def will be back.

Been going here for some time now and I really don't know why I haven't reviewed them before. They're always quick to greet and take your order...very friendly staff! I enjoy everything I get here, haven't had a bad sandwich to date. I would have to say that my favorite is The Green Monstah! I really like the Green Monstah Extreme, which I had today. The bratwurst is cooked just right with that crisp outside to give it that snap when you bit into it. I think the only appetizer I haven't had is the famous egg rolls, but I'm not really in the mood for those when I get there. I do like the Peay Bread, so if you have time to order ahead...grab some of that as well. I just wish they had had fresh side items, fresh cut fries and fresh battered onion rings...I know that it may be a big ask because having frozen items like those are such a time saver and a bit more friendly on the budget, but it would just make the meal that much better (in my opinion). It's the one thing keeping me from giving five stars. So, if you're in the area for an event at APSU or you've lived here for one week or 10 years, get on over to Wicked Good Sandwiches and grab a bite to eat. I, for one, think you'll like it. Go Yankees!!

I really don't get the hype of this place I get that it's near the college and has tons of greasy food but it really was mediocre. I ordered my food ahead and they didn't have any of the egg rolls so I got the mozzarella sticks instead. Interesting about these mozzarella sticks is that they have pepperoni inside but did not taste fresh. I got the Philadelphia cheesesteak sandwiches that was what was recommended on Yelp as one of their best sandwiches but it really tasted no better than something I'd get at Jersey Mike's. When I picked up my food and paid my bill I asked the dude for some change and he basically said that he couldn't get change and then I said well how am I going to tip you I'd suddenly he was able to get change for me. He was nice but that was kind of shitty TBH. Overall I would say that this place was meh and I probably wouldn't go back But it's worth trying out if you have them before. maybe you'll have a better experience.

I got the turkey pesto sandwich (added bacon), and my gf got the cheese steak sandwich. Her bread was white and not browned at all, and the meat itself didn't taste seasoned at all. The turkey sandwich absolutely needed the bacon because the pesto mayo overtakes the whole meal. I wish there was a bit more meat on mine, but the fries were solid. My gf also got cheese fries, but the fries also were not seasoned, so it was plain potato with shredded cheese thrown on top. The pizza rolls were good, on the greasy side, but it tasted good. The service and vibe were the best parts. I will try here again but I'm gonna go with the burger next time.

Killer vibes, friendly staff and welcoming! I wish we could have enjoyed the night scene and love they offer Karaoke too. Prompt service. The French fries were good and well portioned. The Cuban was about 3 star. A little dry compared to what I am used to but I live in FL so the bar is a little high. My Hubs enjoyed his sandwich too. Overall it wasn't bad but it didn't have the WOW factor. It was pretty average but love the venue vibes and staff. Also found the car parking a bit limited.

Fat Shack Review - 8/10…read more I stopped by Fat Shack and here's how it went: Wings: I asked for them double-cooked and they came out perfectly crispy--not to mention, a really good size! Definitely not those skimpy wings you sometimes get. I tried a buffalo sauce I wasn't familiar with, but it wasn't bad at all. Solid 9/10. Fries: Also double-cooked, which gave them a great crunch. I love salty fries, but this batch was a little too salty--though nothing a quick napkin wipe couldn't fix. Still tasty. 8.5/10. Fried Oreos: They were warm and sweet, but tasted just a bit undercooked for my liking. If you like your fried treats a little gooey inside, you might love them! For me, it was a 6/10. Overall: Fat Shack is very convenient, 8/10 from me!

Yep. Monster burgers? Absolutely. Fried everything? You bet. The menu is honestly fantastic. Unfortunately, the execution felt like everyone sampled the product before clocking in. Walked in on a Sunday at lunchtime and the place was emptier than my fridge after a teenage sleepover. Ordered immediately and wandered over to the soda machine. No ice. That's a bold strategy for a restaurant whose entire vibe is "we know you're thirsty." Then the wait began. They said 10 to 15 minutes. They delivered on that promise with the dedication of NASA launching a rover to Mars. Fifteen minutes in an empty restaurant is impressive. Even the DoorDash drivers had that look of, "Bro... I could've grown the potatoes by now." Food finally landed. The burger was actually pretty decent. Fried pickles were solid. The breaded fries wanted to be great, but some were cold and the fryer oil tasted like it had seen every presidential administration this decade. The staff wasn't rude. They also weren't awake enough to be considered enthusiastic. The whole restaurant had the energy of a group project where everyone assumed someone else was doing the work. That's really the story here. Death by a thousand little details. No ice. Slow food. Cold fries. Worn-out fryer oil. Dark dining room. Zero hospitality. Nobody seemed to notice, and that was the biggest disappointment of all. Fat Shack absolutely understands stoner food. What it doesn't understand is that eventually the munchies wear off... and people start noticing the service. I'd probably order it again... through DoorDash... and hope they remember the ice.

It is with some measure of disappointment that I visited and write a review for Cheesy J's. Based…read moreon their menu and my love of crispy toasty cheesy sandwiches, I had fairly high hopes, despite the fairly mediocre Yelp ratings. But I'm afraid I need to confirm that my hopes were unjustified. First, some good bits. The staff was super friendly and helpful, though with an establishment (like this) where you stand in line and order at the counter, staff quality doesn't enter as much into the overall impression of a place as with a sit-down full-service establishment. As senior citizens, we got a 15% discount, which is a substantially larger discount than we generally see for seniors. The pickles were pretty good. My wife said that her pickles were the best part of her meal. For me, the pickles and the cream soda were kinda tied for goodness. The washroom was pretty clean. The eating area was nicely set up and I didn't notice any un-bussed tables (though it appears that diners are expected to bus their own tables, which I did). And now, the rest. My wife had The Dip, Wet. First, we were a bit confused that ordering "Wet" meant that they would put the Jus on in the process of constructing the sandwich, rather than providing Jus with the sandwich for dipping. But the staff was happy to provide a container of Jus. She found the sandwich overall to be sufficiently "meh" that she asked me whether I really wanted to take the leftover half sandwich home. I thought that since it wasn't actively bad, I'd go ahead and finish it later. I had Cheesy Brisket. I thought it was kinda OK, though the meat was not nearly as tender as I expect from a brisket dish. (My first bite, I couldn't fully bite off a piece of the brisket, so the entire slice slid out of the sandwich.) My wife thought that the meat tasted bad. I thought that the taste was OK; it was just that it could have stood some additional cooking time to get tender. Oh, the best part of the sandwich was the crispy cheesy bits around the edge. Both came with a "taste" or sample of their tomato soup. This was useful, as we both now know that we would not be happy buying the tomato soup. I don't think that it is Campbell's, but I think that the quality of taste is comparable. My wife had the combo with a side of cole slaw which was not horrible, but she didn't eat very much of it. I had the combo with a side of Mac & Cheese. For me, freezer section Mac & Cheese from Stouffer's is pretty good and I give it a solid 3 stars. And, for me, the Kraft box with the orange powder is a solid 1 star. This was somewhere in between. I had a few bites of it, but it wasn't worth eating or taking home to eat later. Their drinks are mostly Pepsi products, plus Iced Tea (sweet and non-sweet). I started off with unsweet tea, which I found to taste a bit odd and weak. So I dumped it out and got the cream soda, which was pretty good. In summary, while Cheesy J's is not actively bad, I don't see myself choosing to return. P.S. I didn't notice until I got home that the menu they gave me does not have all of their sides listed. Not sure whether anything else might be missing. P.P.S. I didn't notice until later that I was charged $1.16 for "Advantage Program". Unsure what this is, as I didn't order it.

I appreciated the amount of cheese oozing out of my sandwich and the burst of flavor from my Rajin Cajun. My family member was equally satisfied with the brisket. You get picked and a little cup of tomato concoction for dipping. The sweet potato fries had a nice buttery taste and comes with a sweet icing (but doesn't need it). Next time I'll try their potatoes. If you're concerned about price points, this one is strictly about the convenience-not a value meal. Enjoy
