This place has good beer and great pizza. The pizza is so good that they do a lot of takeout business for it.

Disappointed in their new growler policy. Having filled mine there many times, to find out they don't want your business anymore if you don't want to buy their growler is pretty disappointing. Their website claims that they no longer fill blank glass growlers or stainless steel growlers because they don't fit their taps. Interesting that my blank glass growler has been filled there many times. I wonder when they changed their taps to only fit the custom labeled growlers (which are the exactly the same size as any other glass growler). Their website also says this: "New Hampshire law does not allow a brewery to fill another brewery's growler whether it is from NH or out of state. We can only fill Kelsen branded growlers." However, the law does NOT say that you can "only fill kelsen branded growlers." If that was the case then you should be shut down because you have violated the law many times. Basically they're a small time brewery who has gotten more popular and very greedy. I used to make the drive there all the time but not anymore, I'll find someone else who wants my business. read more

Great spot for some good pizza and beer tucked away in Derry. I think they might be moving to Manchester soon (don't quote me on that!) which will be a shame for those in Derry but a win for them! They have breakfast at kelson once a week it opens at 10:00 for the days that that have breakfast.they have breakfast pizza that is super good. If I were you I would try the bacon breakfast pizza. read more

They do a nice variety of German and Belgian styles, plus some great standards, like double IPA and Imperial Stout. Killer pizza!! Service? Usually solid but can feel cold and stiff. Went in to have a growler filled today, which we had done many times over the last several months. We were told they don't do that anymore. Okay, were fine with that, but when we inquired as to why, we were given several reasons, and they all seemed odd. One was that the growlers don't fit under the tap well. Did the taps shrink? Also, that they make a mess. They shouldn't, if tubing is used. Also, that they don't have time to clean them out. We always bring ours cleaned. I would think that would be an expectation. When asked how long this had been in effect, were told a couple of months. Here is what was really upsetting. When my husband indicated he was pretty sure he had been in more recently, the guy (not the owner, who we are familiar with) told him emphatically that wasn't the case. Our credit card statement indicates otherwise . We didn't appreciate that he pretty much implied we were lying. There was much better way to handle that. Your customer service severely lacks. Sorry, Kelsen, you lost a loyal customer. Another local brewery, a few short miles away, gained a new one. read more

We headed over after a ride on the Derry/Windham/Salem Rail Trail for a brew before heading out to dinner. My husband ordered his all time favorite, Paradigm Brown Ale, our friend ordered his favorite IPA, Battleaxe and said fresh from the tap was the best it had ever tasted. He was in heaven. I tried two 4 oz tasters of their lighter beers (the Belgium and fruity sour) and our 4th had the hard cider. It was the perfect appetizer before dinner. We had not been to the brewery in quite a while and the remodel and outdoor seating was a nice improvement. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. read more

We had a terrible experience at Kelsen yesterday. My husband and I decided to go to celebrate the last day before his return to work. We've been many times but this was our first COVID experience at Kelsen. When we got there, there were 4 empty tables outside so we started setting up our two kids at one of the tables then my husband would go in to get beers. It didn't make sense to have all of us go in just to come back out and the place didn't seem busy. As my husband opened the door to go inside, a man who works at Kelsen came running out telling us we couldn't just sit down and that he had to sanitize the table and chairs. He was incredibly rude and his tone was very unwelcoming. There was a sign that we noticed later but it was basically illegible because the chalk had mostly rubbed off. Nowhere on the sign did it say we had to wait to be seated. Also, my toddler had already sat down so sanitizing was pointless at the point. After he cleaned the table and chairs, we proceeded to sit down but I just wanted to leave. I felt so uncomfortable. My husband got beers anyway but I honestly didn't enjoy mine because I was so anxious about sitting down without permission. We stayed for about 45 minutes and in that time we saw 4 other groups of people come sit down at an empty table while one person went in to get beers and food. NONE OF THEM were told they couldn't just sit down. I'm not sure why we were targeted, maybe because we brought two kids, but I will not be returning. read more

This is for sure the best place to grab some food and for adults a drink. I sat down and the first thing I know riced was there chalk drawing of the company logos. This made me feel welcomed and excited for what was coming. Me and my family ordered a cheese pizza and it was the best I've had. The wait is not long at all and the staff were super nice. The staff are all very friendly and happy to educate you on their beers. The Paradigm Brown Ale is absolutely delicious. Harrimana is a sour and at first taste I didnt care for it, but after a few sips it grew on me, and now it is my favorite summer drink as the tartness is so refreshing on a hot, humid day. I would love to see Kelsen featured on taps in more of the local bars and pubs. Whenever I see it offered, I'll order it. read more

Stopped in with my husband for a tasting a couple weeks ago. The bartender was super friendly and did a good job explaining the different beer. There were plenty of tables to choose from. The reason for just 3 stars is that I just wasn't very impressed with any of the beer that I tried. None were bad (except the sour one which is just not my taste), but none were more than average. Have to agree with everything Katie said about visiting this little brewery. These good folks only make 300 barrels per year, which is a miniscule amount of beer. I predict that once the word gets out about Kelsen that they'll achieve a cult status and be impossible to find. The double IPA is simply as good as beer gets. I also sampled the IPA which is still a very hoppy flavorful beer after first drinking the double. The tasting room is nothing fancy but no matter -- nice people and maybe the best beer you'll every drink! Note: I gave this a "pricey" rating. The beer is not inexpensive, but it is TOTALLY worth the money! read more

The five-star rating is not just for the beer that they had, but the entirety of the experience my husband and I had while visiting. Our first experience with Keslen Brewing began when we moved to Derry earlier this year. We needed a celebratory beer and were drawn to the Battle Axe IPA label and decided to purchase it. We later discovered that our first beer enjoyed in our new place was a local nano brewery just down the road. We've also tried various selections that have been on draft at the local watering hole, Cask & Vine, and have never been disappointed. We finally made the trip out to Kelsen and had a great time. We were able to try all the drafts available for free (4oz pours) and were pleasantly surprised by two beer styles that I'm not typically a fan of. The smoothness and drink-ability of their Paradigm Brown Ale was a pleasant surprise and the Double Battle Axe IPA was aromatic, flavorful and pleasant. Two beers which are typically a hit or miss for me, were absolute hits that I would go back for again and again. Needless to say, we left with two (64oz) growlers. In addition to the delicious brews we were able to sample, the staff on hand were amazing as well. Not only were we able to engage in lengthy conversation regarding various beer styles and how they should be enjoyed (room temperature), but we were able to discuss our journeys to the quaint town of Derry and our daily lives. We truly enjoyed Kelsen Brewery's beers and the trio that welcomed us. Thanks so much for a great time - see you next month for your stout!! read more
