I have seen the food pictures from this establishment on Facebook and everything looks delicious so today my husband and I decided to drive to Bradenton and try it. When we pulled into the little strip mall I noticed first the sign look like it had been painted in years. All you could see is the K and the E really. It just looks dumpy from the outside.I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover however we decided to pass on by. It did not look like a place that we wanted to eat out if they can't even paint their sign. To me that's a reflection on cleanliness as well. read more

We have been regular customers with this establishment for 10 years.. that being said, after the original owners sold the place, we were eager to remain regular customers with the new owners. We are excellent tippers, we are loyal customers, and we have spent many birthdays and celebrations here.. we bring friends from out of town, meet with family here, and considered this place our local watering hole.. after tonight.. we won't be back. Between the absolutely rude bartender Tim, and the complete disregard of our complaints to the owners about this man.. we will not be back. Tonight we called to make a takeout order, and after being put on hold by "Tim" for 9 minutes, I decided to drive up there and place my order to go. Tim proceeded to ignore me for about 20 minutes, even though there were maybe 12 people at the bar.. also.. the place wasn't packed as it usually is on wing night.. He finally made eye contact with me, and I said "are you going to serve me or not?" His reply.. "I thought about it"... WE ARE DONE. This man is beyond arrogant and rude.. I glanced behind me, and there was a table of our friends sitting in a booth behind me (also regulars) that had been sitting for 20 minutes without a server even addressing them. I walked out.. they followed.. so sad to see this restaurant that was once one of our favorite places to go to... fall from grace so epically FAST! An absolutely perfect neighborhood beer joint. Almost Hollywood-staged. I had a hankering for wings, their wings come in about twenty different ways. I had the step above hot, and it was perfect. Not too hot, but spicy enough to make you know you were eating wings. I wanted to try the orange-ginger glaze as well, but I went with safe. Had the "island lager" beer, I don't remember the name. Anyway, it was cold and crisp and perfect with the wings. I also got the gravy Tater Tots, not great. The tots fall apart under gravy, so they turn into mushy hash browns. I went to Kelsey's last night with a friend and sat at the bar. This isn't normally someplace I frequent, but we had such an amazing experience so I wanted to share it. We ordered on door dash.. received our order on time but we we're missing a meal. I called the restaurant and they were very rude and told me to check my receipt. I had not been charged for the missing meal. Apparently they were out of the clam strip special, but we were not given any kind of notification!! Fries were soggy. As being a Former server myself I rarely complain about a restaurant unless it's really bad. Kelsey's on Cortez in Cortez Florida did that to me today. Don't get me wrong the wings are awesome and on Thursdays you can get them for now $.65 each. Great price. Because at a good price you are not allowed to take your Leftovers with you which I totally understand. However I had a little bit over an hour to kill for lunch because I had a former appointment. After about 40 minutes my 10 wings came out and they were ice cold as if they had been put in the refrigerator. I told Kelsey and she took them back into the kitchen. I'm not sure but maybe 5-8 minutes later I got them back. I started to eat them and they were delicious however I was now running late for my appointment. I stopped Kelsey and explained that I know that normally you don't get to go boxes because of the deal however because they were so late in getting to me I've now had to rush and needed a small to go box. She told me that they cannot do that. I reminded her that it was like almost about an hour for me to get my wings and start eating and that I had an appointment. She said that they cannot give boxes to go for the wings. OK so what would've happened if I had ordered a hamburger and only ate half I would have to put it in my purse? I didn't ask her that however I wanted to. So I wrapped them up and took them home. Now how hard would it been to get me just a small little container to put these wings in? Sorry folks... But so far not impressed... My burger was burnt ( I specifically requested the outside to not be black). I couldnt even eat it.The wings are so small you better ask for a double batch. The fried pickles were ok but just ok.., everyone was raving about this place so I had to check it out... This place is a hidden treasure! It's a little bar and grill. The food is amazing and there is plenty to choose from! On Saturday nights they have 24 wings for $12...great deal! They were hot and crispy and really hit the spot! We had nachos and there was a huge pile with all the toppings! The fries were very crispy and they had many different varieties. The service was great and they were very attentive. Always there to help with questions, more drinks or anything you needed. I will be back to try some of the other things they have to offer and I'm sure I won't be disappointed. read more

Have driven by on many occasions... did not take notice as it is a little place tucked in a small strip of shops. Stopped in by recommendation of someone to try a simple burger and fries. Was pleasantly surprised by live music/entertainment. However, after reading the menu we had to try the $4 specials as we could not believe you could get anything edible at that price. We received a delicious chicken fried steak and a sirloin patty covered in gravy, mushrooms and onions... both accompanied by what tasted like real mashed potatoes. We came on $2 burger night. The guys enjoyed them, especially for the price. Myself and another friend had a salad and we both enjoyed ours. The only downer was the service. Our server was not completely familiar with the menu when asked questions. They were also slow to return when asked for various items. The place was pretty packed though. Overall a decent experience. Had dinner at Kelseys on Cortez. We were greeted promptly and seated at a requested table. Service was prompt and drink orders were taken. My wife had the fish and chips. Was a generous order and well fried (not greasy). Fries were pedestrian. I ordered chicken wings and was not disappointed. Well-done with good touch of heat. Hot sauce on the table added more heat for me. Again, fries not remarkable. Restaurant was clean and rest rooms presentable. Noisy crowd, but everyone having a good time. Waiter very attentive. We always loved going to Kelsey's so when it opened last week we went in on Saturday evening for a hamburger. Food always good there but now we are scared because not one of the servers had on a mask or gloves. I asked if they cleaned all the condiments on the table and she Said yes. Well I watched one of the waitresses take people's baskets give them a Bill take their money or card and never once wash her hands. Then she wiped a table and never touched the condiments or chair. We watched this several times, taking the dirty dishes etc. they never touched the door, watched us leave or anything. We are so worried now with there lack of concern on their guests. Telling everyone not to go there now and waiting with fear for the next two weeks. Bonefish had mask, gloves, wipes door handles, seats when people left, had paper menus etc. wake up. read more

If I could give 5 stars I would but I'm leaving this review for a reason. This is definitely one of my favorite places to go, they have deals almost every day of the week and their food is absolutely delicious! The bartenders and servers are always super sweet and attentive. BUT our server this evening -I'm not sure her name as she didn't tell us- was extremely inattentive and overall gave us a bad experience, we asked for napkins once she checked on us after the food runner brought our appetizer and she didn't give us napkins so after waiting 10 minutes I walked up to the hostess and she made sure to get me some, she was very sweet. After that it took a while for the server to come back to take our meal order, when she did we also ordered more drinks- 15 mins go by the food runner brought or food but our server still hadn't brought our drinks- at this point I just told the hostess we never got our beverages- it took our server 30 minutes after us ordering our meal & drinks for her to check up on us, when she did I told her "we never got our drinks" to which she just looked at the table and walked away to the posi machine to ring them in, without saying sorry or even acknowledging she forgot to ring them in- then she waited 10 mins to even grab them from the bar. At that point we were over it and ready to go. We're not sure why we got such bad service -when we watched all her tables getting their drinks and getting checked on regularly- maybe it's because the table is in the newer dining spots in the corner. But either way we felt invisible. I would still recommend Kelsey's as a bomb place to eat and have a good time, this time was just not the same. read more

Sadly, Kelsey's continues to go further down hill each time I go there, which is few and far between now. Each time I always claim to myself, "I won't be back!" and then enough time passes and I sort of forget how crappy it is. I know it's just a hole-in-the-wall, strip mall bar restaurant but it could be a nice little neighborhood place. The service is consistently poor and perpetually understaffed. If you go on a busy night you will stand there at the front invisible until you are desperate enough to catch an employee. Theres either no one hosting or the young girl host who is hopelessly inept. I understand they have new owners but how long can you use that excuse for why your restaurant runs like a wet fart? All the old staff who were good and nice are gone. It's too bad because they have good enough food but it's tainted by all the above. This place could do with a real manager to help run things. All that is to say it doesn't seem to stop the throngs of sunburned scalawags from sitting at the bar slurping down bottles of beer and cackling loudly! read more

Wanted good wings while in the area and Kelsey's on Cortez was recommend to us. When Natasha the waitress arrived she had all of our large party so confused with what was a special and what wasn't. She made sure to tell us you can't take wings home that are leftover if they were part of a special. We tried 4 different types of wings they were above average the seasoned fries were limp and greasy. We got 8 wings less then we ordered. Prices are good not many people were there on a Sunday night. Wonderful menu, great daily specials of freshly made items. Very clean and wait staff is attentive and polite. Thursday's special are their huge wings with many choices of sauces or dry rubs. They are hot-fresh and delish. The sauces will make a mess of your hands for sure; just don't ask for a wet nap when you're done eating cause you will be declined with the reply of "we don't give out wet-naps on wing night with the low cost we give you"....excuse me!? Then she comes back with a handful of napkins??? I would make a intelligent guess that a 1 wet-nap is cheaper than 6 napkins! Glad she wasn't our waitress! Stopped in for Prime Rib night. I'll never go back. Worst experience I have ever had at Kelsey's. I stop by during the day for a hamburger, but I am never going back for dinner. Prime Rib was a piece of fat and an undercooked piece of fat at that. Baked potato was some kind of funky yellow. Not real sure what they are cooking the potato in to make it come out yellow. Yes. the part that you eat....YELLOW YUCK Green beans out of a can and cooked until they were basically mush. All crammed on to a sandwich plate. Salad bar basically as bad as everything else..Nothing better than some wilted slightly browned lettuce to get that appetite fired up. Roommate had the same thing tp eat and it was just as bad. Last time I was here I had the meatloaf. That thing must have been sitting in the pan since last time they had a meatloaf special. So I've had the opportunity to visit Kelsey's during the offseason and that was able to raise my opinion a bit. During the off season wing night is muuuuch more reasonable, my wings came out in a timely manner and I could tell they were fresh out of the fryer. The burgers during offseason had some slight improvement, I'd say things were hit or miss. Most of the time my burgers seem to come out fine but then there's that occasion where the cook burns it to a crisp hockey puck and refuses to acknowledge his mistake. Bummer. If I'm being nickel and dimed for every topping the least they could do was make sure that my bacon wasn't a black strip of charcoal on top of burnt jerky. Wow, after a several more trips to Kelsey's I've decided to call it quits. I've dealt with some slow service at the bar but could deal with it. I have learned that because of the daily specials with tons of stipulations, many of the serving staff are bitter and just rude. Let's highlight wing night: Cheap wings on Thursday's *Xtra Crispy - NOT an option, they won't accommodate *Okay, naked wings with sauce on side (to keep crispy) - sure but they charge you for the sauce you would have had free if tossed, hmm. *Have a few wings left over - can't take them with you on wing day. I get not calling in take out or take out in general but when you buy drinks (beer) and eat the majority, where is the problem? You won't cook them to my comfort level, so I hit them with the oven at home and that's a problem? *Pay .69c for every additional sauce/ranch - I agree with this on wing day for sure, have to make $ somewhere. So, overall, I get it. I was spending at least 3 meals a week in there to date, brought family and friends and was given a to-go box on wing day the one other time I asked for it. This trip, I asked for as crispy as they can, tossed in sauce because it wasn't too busy. She said okay, brought the wings and they weren't well done at all had some wet fat on a few, whatever, fine. I ate 10 out of 15 and asked if I could take them with me. Here is where I have the problem that will cease my business. Natasha looked at me and went off with a strong argumentative voice, I'm not giving you a box, a bag or anything, 5 wings aren't worth losing my job. At first, I truly thought she was messing with me, she wasn't. I said that's fine but I was given a box another time on wing night when I brought the family. She said "no, you weren't" and said "whatever lets you sleep at night". I've never had a disagreement with staff here and always tipped what the regular price would be on specials. It's all in the delivery, you know? More bees with honey? A simple "no, I can't I'm sorry, we really are not supposed to do that", would have been fine. To avoid losing other customers, stop putting so much pressure on your staff and accommodate customer's typical simple needs. Remember, you're in the SERVICE industry and there are many competitors. Friendly upfront but you quickly realize there is nothing to back it up. $1 beef sliders on Mondays...disgusting with stale bread. $8.00 salad bar with limp poor choices. Went today, the burgers are 7oz. handmade and delicious. Burger, side of fries and a glass of beer or soda $6,85 each! Server was prompt and pleasant. That was/is their Monday special. They have many other great deals like 0.35cent wings on Thursday. Taco deals Monday evenings, Tuesday burger specials, Friday fish and chips. First time there, we will be back! My only complaint is that their ketchup was too runny but tasted okay. Perhaps they will take notice of this issue to get that 5th star! Went there on a friday night. Dead empty, a little scared no one was in on a friday night. All you can eat fried fish and fries ( soon as food comes out order more because it takes a long long long long time for your food) $7.75. Little greasy per the ppl in my party who had the fish but they said it was good. I had the kelseys club and it was like heaven! Loved it !! Yes you have a painfully long wait for your food and actual lack of service, but everyone was full and the time was spent well with our group of friends catching up. Went there tonight for thursday night wing night. Place is packed...must be good sign if so many ppl are here. Horrific service...or lack there of..but we expected that from our last visit. 2 of us ordered corn chowder. One came and other arrived at table 15 minutes later.We constantly asked for silverware and napkins...finally got some 1/2 thru our meal. Most ordered 10 wings, one ordered 15, 2 ordered kelseys club. Wings came out 65 minutes later!!! Kelsey clubs are on their way we were told. Then we were told no white bread, day staff used it all. So we said wheat bread is fine. Finally they arrived, friends were 1/2 way thru their wings. Remember i loved the club before...this time didn't taste right..maybe it was the bread? I asked the other person how was their club and reply was OK i guess...not the best flavor/different seasoning or something. Manager came over -Dianne-- and asked if it was ok on wheat bread. I said i think the ham is old or something, she said she would check in the kitchen. I ate another wedge of the club taking it apart and eating it. All tasted fine until i got to the ham. I asked the person next to me to try this ham...they said they didn't like it. Another person said let me try...she smelt it and said it is bad...it smells like vinegar. The other person sniffed their club and said omg my smells too. We asked for the manager-Dianne. 35 minutes later she came and said "that ham smells good to me and Josh had one before his shift and it was fine" (who the hell is Josh and what school did he go to?). We explained we are not trying to get a free meal but we definitely think the ham smells. She became very disrespectful and continued to speak to us terribly. We said OK just give us a box for these 5 wings to take home and our check (we won't be back). She said there is no take out on wings since it costs me 35 cents a wing and that is what we charge on thursdays and then i would have to pay for a box for you to take them home too. Where is that posted? No place!!! The server should have told you but he is new! Really...i wanted to say are you going to resell these or something??!!!! Then the table next to us was complaining why can't we take these extra ones home !! And their pitcher of beer didn't arrive until after their food. We will never go back...primarily due to Dianne's attitude. The place is run terrible and needs Gordon Ramsey to get in there and clean it up-or shut it down. The food is good however they either need to hire more cooks, or they need to tell people when they arrive that it will be a minimum of an hour before their food order is brought to them yes even with arrival at 8:50 ordering of food by nine it still has not arrived at 10 PM... I was torn when rating Kelsey's. It's a nice place, nowhere to write home about but that's to be expected. I went on Thursday which is their wing night. The server I had wrote me off from the beginning. I was there about an hour and she came to my table three times. I was by myself, so I can only assume she figured the bigger tips were elsewhere. I asked for her recommendations and she definitely gave me two good flavors for the wings. They sell them in sets of 5 for .35 cents, don't trust the menu, it was more expensive than the listing price. I won't be back anytime soon. read more

Went there on Monday night because their kids menu says kids eat free on Momday. When we got the check the kids meal were not comped so we asked our server who said that they stopped doing kids eat free but they have yet to change the menu. We like to go there because the food is good and the deals they have make it affordable to go out however after them not honoring what they have printed we may not be back. This is my second time at the restaurant and they are all extremely rude. I tried to forgive the first time thinking it might have just been a bad day. When my brother walked in the lady at the desk had no interest in sitting us. Then she started saying they couldn't seat us unless everyone was there, and it was only two people and they were not busy at all. As we get to our table and ordered the food it came out TERRIBLE. French fries were completely soggy. As we were trying to pay they dropped the bill and didn't check in with us for 30 min. I said excuse me to three different waitresses and they all walked by me and completely ignored me when we were sitting down.
