    Beef so dried out

I've been here 3 times and the meat is ALWAYS so hard a dried out. the chicken, beef, everything. need to do better at cooking the meat

This place is out of this world! I had never tried traditional African food before but I really wanted to so I asked my friend who was born in Ghana where I should go and let me tell you, he steered me right! I enjoyed every bit of it. The Fufu was delicious, I got the egusi stew with goat. Solid choice although I think I might go with a different meat next time (or no meat since I'm trying to go vegetarian ugh), the Soyu was very spicy and tasty and of course you can't go wrong with fried plantains! I am an adventurous eater but I was a little worried fufu might be too much for even me but nope! It was wonderful! My only recommendation is that you take some stomach meds before hand if you have a western palate because I was burnt up with the spices. 10/10 would do it again.

I really love this place honestly. I always order to go- I stay 15mins away so I call and place my order while en route and it's always ready for me by the time I arrive! I LOVE the prices here and I'm glad they offer a side of red stew with no meat in it for when I want to eat meatless meals, or even just want to add more sauce to my stew WITH meat. The jollof rice is a winner I love getting a side of it I can eat it for lunch and dinner the portion is optimal! The suya is good as well and obviously very popular because they've run out the past few weeks I tried to order! I had a craving phase and ate here like everyday for 5 days in a row Lolol! Highly recommend this place ! Very affordable and delicious!

Ordered from ubereats. Packaging was sufficient. Enjoyed most of the food but the side of goat was overcooked. The goat included in the egusi was good. Jollof was delicious.

So this was only my second time trying African food. I had some jollof rice and chicken years ago in college from another restaurant. I decided to surprise my Nigerian boyfriend with some of the dishes he grew up eating for his birthday. So, this review will also include his opinion since he's more familiar with the food than me. To start, the service was amazing. I called to place my order in advance and the guy informed me that the meat pies were just being prepared and needed about 40mins. I agreed to the wait because I really wanted to try them. When I arrived, unfortunately they were not done. I told him how this was my first time at the restaurant and he gave me the one that was ready, for free to try! That was so nice. The inside of the restaurant seems more like a place you would go for take out and not dine in. I'm not sure if that's due to COVID or it normally appears that way. However, everything looked and smelled clean. I was honestly surprised at how much food we got for such a good price! Two large platters of food cost about $25 and to be honest we could've shared one platter and still had leftovers! I ordered the rice plate with jollof, fish, and plaintain. I also order mashed beans, plantain and meat for my boyfriend. I thought the food was well seasoned and delicious. My boyfriend also agreed. He compared the food to his mom's cooking, which is definitely a compliment and makes me believe it is authentic. We will definitely be back for more delicious African food from Kemi's!

Egusi, beef tripe, beef, and pounded yam
    W O.

I have to be completely honest here, I ordered Egusi with beef, beef tripe, and pounded yam. The tripe and beef were tough as shoe leather. If your teeth aren't strong, you are in trouble. They cooked with too much palm oil because it made the soup slightly runny, I've eaten this soup many times at other restaurants. I could honestly say their was no "love" put into preparing this dish. Again, the beef and tripe were so tough. I gave 2 stars for the pounded yam. Time and love were spent preparing the yam it was delicious. The cashier was very nice, but there was another older gentleman storing food for a delivery (I guess) he never acknowledged me. He could have at least said, "Someone will be with you shortly." I forgot to mention he and I were the only 2 standing there. The ambiance of the dining area wasn't so bad it was a bit warm in there, but if I had to guess the temperature, I would easily say 75 degrees. Many Blessing Kemi

Well this was the first time trying this place out. The menu wasn't very big so it didn't take long to pick something out . I ordered a meal with beans and fried plantains..We also ordered meat pies and rice with chicken. The chicken was good but the rice was undercooked and the plantains were so soggy they turned to mush when I tried to eat them . The beans tasted like beans from an Uncle Bens plastic bag thankfully the meat pies were decent and helped fill us up . I ordered beef to add to my beans that was roast beef but a small piece so didn't go far . Well probably skip this place from now on unless someone else really wants it. I wish the plantains weren't sooooo soggy because they had a decent flavor.

Very small establishment but the meat pies are so darn good. A lil pricey for the size but a definite must try

During my last visit, I ordered ahead and it took me about 25 minutes drive, which wasn't too bad. The person who took my order was nice, which was a pleasant surprise compared to what I expected. I ordered two portions of suya and two shawarmas, costing a bit over $40. The shawarma was okay in size, but it didn't really stand out. It satisfied my cravings, but nothing more. Now, the suya was a letdown. It had too much oil and lacked that real suya flavor. The taste of curry was too strong, overshadowing the authentic suya taste. Plus, there were way too many onions compared to the meat. I'd rate the suya a 4 out of 10 for the effort. On the other hand, the shawarma, though of an average size, was pretty tasty. It was spicy, so you'll need a drink to handle the heat. I'm giving a three-star rating for both the food and the service, also appreciating that they're open on Sundays. I've tried suya and shawarma in many places around the DFW area, and I think this place can do better. If they work on improving the spice mix for the suya and balance out the meat and onions, it would make a big difference and bring them up to the level of other spots in the area.

It directs to an article about this restaurant on D Magazine website. Not sure why the owner has not noticed and corrected that yet. If there is no website then Google should not show it at all. It is just confusing to customers. Second, their restaurant menu is not up to date. Majority of the items under "Les Grillades," "A La Braise," and "Sauces" were not available. We were told by the server that they used to make it in the past but not anymore. If not anymore, again, why the menu is not up to date? Why wasting customer's time? There is a picture of a full grilled chicken with coleslaw on Google. When asked for it, we were told it is a "Pepper Chicken" that is only available during the day time and we also have to order in advance. We didn't see this item on the menu and not sure how customers will know about this item and when to order. Pure carelessness from the owner! For the food, we ordered "Meat Pie," "Benachin," and "Afra/Dibi" chicken. Meat pie was good but little expensive in my opinion. Afra/Dibi chicken was good as well and also came up with a decent portion. What I didn't like about it is that it only came with a bunch of onions and nothing else. No sides at all which I thought was little bizarre specially for the price they are charging. I did not like Benachin! Small portion, expensive, and tasted just okay. It was just a boiled meat with some rice and vegetable curry. Vegetable curry was good but rest of the dish was just okay. I don't recommend this dish. Their customer service was iffy. We were not checked upon in a timely manner. There was a short hair African American lady and her customer service was good. There was another African American lady and she definitely needs training on her customer service and attitude. She would barely come to the table and hardly answer any questions or try to help. Rest of the time I saw her behind the counter spending time on her phone! This restaurant only has bottled water and they charge for it. I may or may not come back to this restaurant in the future.
