They sold my 19 year old daughter a car without A/C. The salesman admitted that he didn't know that a 2016 Jeep Patriot would come without A/C. When we asked them to make it right they refused. My daughter would not have spent her life saving on a car that did not have A/C. Who asks if a car has A/C. If she had asked the salesman wouldn't have known the answer. He was shocked that it didn't have AC. She purchased the car in December. Ken Garff does not listen. They do not treat their customers with respect. We asked them to let us trade in the vehicle for the sticker price we purchased it for on another used vehicle that was on their lot. They told us the would give us the same trade in value that anyone else would get if they brought in the car as a trade in. Their salesman should have told her about the car not having AC. Do not go to service department. I made a appointment with my truck for a oil change and brake fluid change. They sent me the video of it on the lift saying they were completing the work. When I picked it up I paid for the service and I decided to check the brake fluid to verify the work that I paid for. It was not serviced and no signs of being attempted. The tech came out and said that they have a way to do it so it looks like it was never touched. I called him out on it and he then agreed that the service was not completed. Then it was a hassle for them to refund the work that wasn't performed. Will never go back. How many other people have paid for a service that was never done? I'm sure I wasn't the first! read more

This place is horrible. Took my car there with the hose in hand I needed replaced. They called 10 mins after I left and said my car could use a tune up. I went and picked it up and paid 500 . 170 for the labor for the hose and the rest for a tune up. I got to the interstate and car stopped running. Had my car towed back to ken garff and received a phone call saying they put the wrong spark plugs in and blew my motor. I got my car bsck with supposed new motor and it drove bad. Took it back and was told faulty spark plugs. I'm not a mechanic but new motor new spark plugs. Oh wait motor was used and 41000 miles but they didn't tell me they gave me paper work I don't believe I was supposed to get. Now my car has heat only and they say 1145 to fix. my insurance is USAA, the at fault driver is insured through USAA. USAA scheduled with Garff to have my car damage estimated. they called within 5 minutes of my hanging up with Usaa making the claim. The issue, they give you a time to show up, wait for the estimate. I was told there was no way I could drop off early or pick up later. I had to wait for the estimate. service takes new meaning here. they are doing us a favor and cannot be inconvenienced by simple things like me having a job. I've only given a few 1stars, service is the reason every time. read more

In September I wrote a review about loosing service with the Advantage Package (LOF) from this business. The response was "they'd look into it." Recently, I emailed a follow up to the business and received a next-morning prompt reply from Joey Burns, stating they would honor the LOF I was entitled to. The problem was referred to Kirk, their Nissin Service Dept. Not only was he easy to discuss my complaint with, he was able to let an appt at one of their other centers - - a convenience I appreciated - - to honor my previously paid for LOF. Ken Garff Riverdale AC broke under warranty for not blowing cold air and the passenger side only blowing hot. They just changed a module that switches left to right air to bandaid fix it. AC slowly got worse again. So I brought it in again and they charged me $150 to put Freon in it along with some dye to see if it was leaking. Weird thing, My car can only take 2.5 lbs or 40oz. They put in 8.8 lbs according to the receipt. Overfilling it alone could cause a compressor failure. It's no wonder the clutch blew. Guess what, not a week later the clutch on the AC unit "grenaded" (their term). Hmmm I wonder why. They refuse to admit this was a problem that should have identified while under warranty. Now they want $1,500 to fix it. Money over customer loyalty I guess. I did get my service tech down to about $1,200. I then talked to the service manager, got him down to $900+ tax. Bonus frustration While I was waiting to see if they would cover it, they didn't tell me they weren't open on the weekend (this was last weekend). I got a ride up there only to find this out. The weekend sales crew refused to give me a loaner and they refused to get my keys from the service department leaving me stranded without a vehicle until after work on Monday (I work from home except on Tuesdays). I've bought 5 cars from Ken Garff Riverdale over the years. It would appear this will be my last. It's sad because both our cars are 2015 and we're looking at replacing them in the next year. I had to get my rear window fixed cause they sold me a truck with a broken motor for the window, took them from 10 am to 5pm. I also needed a small oil leak fixed which they also sold the vehicle to me with... didn't fix the oil leak and it is ruining my driveway. But this proved to be a day and night different experience!!!! Zach in the service department was in constant communication with me. Even shared pictures and video of what needed to be done. The employees are friendly, customer oriented, and they actually answer their phones!!!! They were fast and efficient and actually worked on my car when my appointment was! We received a notice in the mail about a recall on our airbag. I called Ken Garff and set up and appointment with Zac several days out. I dropped my car off and within a few hours I received word that they can't fix the airbag because they are on back order. They could, however, fix two other items that they benevolently found and would charge us. I'm unsure why the part wasn't ordered ahead of time. I feel like I was asked in to allow them to find things to charge us. I called a different center and they told me they were ordering the part for our appointment next Thursday. read more

My tire fell off my car while driving after a tire rotation because someone didn't tighten the bolts. I was given a rental for a week while they had to replace a few panels that cracked. The car was not clean when I got it. I never received a call from the dealership until my car was done. I never got an apology. I had to ask to be reimbursed and got a maybe. This place is a joke! It started out as a question...why is my final bill more than 15% more than the cost of the services performed?? Tax rate isn't nearly that, and there was zero explanation on the invoice texted to me. When I went to pick up my vehicle they informed me it was a $22 "shop fee" I then asked what exactly that is for. His response was it's for things used in the shop, like tools. I was not happy and called it a BS charge. He informed me every one charges this BS charge. I don't, was my response. That could have been the end of it but the other clown working there decided to give his two cents worth in the most patronizing tone with a condescending smirk. I've never been treated in a more rude fashion by someone dealing with me as a paying customer. They all but begged me to never return. This was strike 2 and 3 for Ken Garff. Strike one happened a couple years ago when they told me the pitman arm needed to be replaced. I told them I would take it to Jerry Seiner GMC in Bountiful where I purchased the truck to get that done. Jerry Seiner looked at it and said there was not an issue with it. So, I took it to an independent shop and they confirmed what Jerry Seiner had told me. I should have cut ties with Ken Garff then, but today was the last straw. If I could give 0 stars, I would. The repair shop is NOT trustworthy at all! We spent $30,000 on replacing a transmission and an engine. Both trucks went in with AC working perfectly and both came out having the AC broken. After explaining this, they didn't care and charged almost $3,000 to fix it. Then when we get them back, the AC is still not as cold as it was before. They are a joke. We took them in again and then when we got the truck back, it wouldn't start because the battery was loose. They obviously have no idea what they are doing and don't care to do anything right. NOT TRUSTWORTHY, they mess it up even worse! Don't get your cars fixed here. read more

I decided to buy another vehicle from Ken Garff GMC in Riverdale. This time, I was looking for my neighborhood car dealership for my young family for future purchases. I was looking for a specific option which my salesperson Brent Walker told me it had. It did not. I went back and told him it didn't have the option and he said, he had misinformed me. My bad he said. A few months later he and another person called me to meet with them at the dealership to make things right. Brent said he would call another local dealership to do a dealer trade and get the right vehicle. Brent left me a message saying the guy at the other dealership was not a good person to work with and he was waiting for the other person to return to make the deal. Has he returned yet? I'm still waiting for him to follow through on his word, be fair, and honest in his dealings with the commitment he had made that day. Push every button, pull every lever, kick the tires, check every option before buying the vehicle because once you leave this place you're on your own. In my opinion, this dealership just wants to sell you a car and not make a repeat buyer. They just want you to go away as they wait for the next buyer to enter the lot. No need for a reply otherwise this would have already been resolved. Brent Walker could have resolved this within weeks of the purchase. I hope future buyers have a better experience to tell. I give Ken Garff GMC 5 stars for their selection of cars and trucks; Great makes and models to choose from, clean, organized lot. I recently purchased a sweet 2013 Chevy Volt and couldn't be happier with the car. However, they receive a minus 4 for their dishonesty in the finance department. I walked in on a holiday with a pre-approved loan and, a week later, after driving my sweet, little Volt around, I had two loans and a third in the underwriters. In addition, I was told they would take $800 off the initial car price, then they later said they didn't say that. In the end, I did get A loan with my bank at the interest rate I wanted, but it wasn't the initial loan I walked in with, giving their loan department the bonus, not my loan officer. If you do find a car you like at this dealership: -Know your rights before you walk in -Record the conversations if possible (especially if you're car shopping alone) -Keep the end figure in mind/stay focused -If you're pre-approved, have all your information with you. If it's a holiday, and your bank is closed, I would suggest coming back for the car on a day you can work with your own loan officer -Do not take the car until all paperwork is worked out the way you expect it to be. At that point, you'll either have to play their games or pay a rental fee for the car Shame on you, Ken Garff. Nobody should have to post a negative review like this and sadly, the law isn't on the consumers side. Thank goodness everyone at the dealership is easy-going and has a sense of humor! I told him what I wanted in a vehicle and he had me try a new Terrain. I loved the GMC Terrain, it met my requirements, and started looking for a newer used version. Bryan went out of his way to help me find what I wanted, even got the auction buyers for Ken Garff looking to find me the perfect version. And they found it! The color, year, SLT trim, mileage, and in my price range. Adam, the sales manager, was always available if Bryan was with another customer so my questions were always answered. Flew in to buy a car I found online. Was picked up at the airport and dropped off at the front door. The car was parked inside the show room for me to look at. My Sales person Steve Veeder came in on his day off to help me! Dick Messerly spoke to me several times over the phone answering questions and working out the details from online. All the people I spoke with at the dealership were friendly and helpful. Since I flew in to buy the car that meant that I would be driving the car home.... about 12 hours away. Steve made sure the car was ready to go and I had all the paperwork I needed. On the way home there was an issue with the car that required a tow and repair. I was over 2 hours away from the dealership but gave them a call anyways. I got to speak to Brian Davis and explained the situation and he Immediately was able to help me. He didn't put me off, no games and he didn't even put me on hold! In that situation I was very pleased for all the help. Integrity is how I would describe this Dealership!. Inside the dealership there is a sign that says that they have listened to their customers and made changes to make it a better experience and I would have to agree! I was turned away because of my bad attitude. My 14 Sierra was in there shop 3 times in one month for the same code. All they ever did was clean the mass air flow sensor and rest the code. The code clearly was an injector, i looked up the proper procedure for repairing that code and they never once did anything close. Even when i asked them to check the injectors they said we don't know what one to check. There is only 8!!!! The service code broke it down to 4! Needless to say they need some new training claiming they are certified technicians! read more

After a dissapointing purchasing experience with Ken Garff GMC, the service was even worse. I had purchased towing mirrors for the new pickup truck from the dealership to be installed by them, but after breaking something in the door requiring parts to be ordered, a false notification that the part was in and then was only informed after I was at the service department that they were mistaken, the signals in the mirrors quit working and I was told they had used the wrong parts to begin with and they would need to order the correct parts. Three wasted trips, to fix something that they initially broke, requiring a day away from work each time as I live 180 miles away, When I have tried to discuss this with them, I have gotten no response from them at all. Not what I would have expected from any dealership, certainly not one that has been in business as long as Ken Garff GMC. read more

After being told I would be reimbursed for my gas if I didn't leave with a new car, which I still have not received, I went to Henry day ford and they gave me what I wanted for my trade- the car I bought had 30,000 less miles, with a DVD player, custom rims, tow package and everything! Out the door I only paid 12,500 difference including tax, title, and license. . . which Ken Garff reassured me was not possible. well where do I start, got a great deal, low balled on my trade so I kept it, good price, customer service not so much, so I did what I always do , my home work, and I called them out on all the stuff I was supposed to get, guess what, I got my $600.00 Costco gift card I was told by the salesmen I couldn't get, 2 years of free maintenance on buick, 30 days of free car washes from supersonic car wash, my tags before the temporary ones expired, another coupon from Costco for 50% off of accessories for my new enclave up to $200.00 dollars, the new car sales manager isn't there anymore, he was a dick, and the folks at corporate and the new sales manager are taking care of me, so I guess the best advice I have is do what you have to do to get what you have been promised, go up the ladder if needed, do your home work. I have been buying my ford vehicles from ken Graff ford in American fork for the last 18 years and have been absolutely happy with them. I bought my 2013 explorer from ken Graff Buick in Ogden and I would have to say that i was not as happy with them as the ford dealership in American fork. I will stay with American fork in the future. Their history report said brakes were worked on and some rotor replacement was done within the last 4 months. It would be nice to know which ones. Front has warped rotor and back has a sound kinda like grinding sound. So it would be nice to know what was really done. read more
