You cannot find a better location for an Alaskan fishing trip. We stayed in a cabin for a week and the cabin was perfect! It has a small kitchen if you need it but you probably won't need it. The free breakfast is always available and it has a view of the river. They have the best fishing guides you can find! When everyone else is not catching fish, these guides will find the spot for you to catch fish. They were all great bit Jon and Cam were exceptional guides. They were very helpful, extremely knowledgeable, and have patience to teach you various techniques to fish for all types of Salmon including King Salmon or whatever fish you want to catch. The front desk staff are always there to help. Evan, Ally, and Savanna were exceptionally great. Jordan gave me my luck boots and waiters that helped me catch fish. Bob the owner really knows how to run the place well and hires only great employees. The restaurants in the area are great too. I highly recommend Gwins and Two Brothers. If there was a Disneyland for people who love to fish, this is the place! I guarantee you will enjoy every second! I know I did! Don't go anywhere else, Drifters is the only place to go because the staff, the cabin, the breakfast are awesome and nobody has better fishing guides! read more

Went out twice with these guys. Once by myself on a Rainey windy day and once bringing my son, an adult and grandson 16 and granddaughter 13 from South Carolina. On the grandchildren day the weather was sublime. Both times we laughed and fished the day away. Both days we Limited out out. The poor guy was running between clients to help us when necessary. He never stopped the entire day. When one spot did not prove fruitful he Moved us to the next. Both times the guide was especially helpful to this slow moving arthritic grandma when I needed it. The kids never stopped talking about the fun they had or the fish they shipped back. These guys made the day a lifelong memory for kids. They had so many follows by the end of day. I could not stop them From posting about each catch!!!! Days after the fishing trip I signed us up for a float trip down the Kenai River into the Kenai Wildlife Refuge - different guide but again very successful trip. The guide was very informed and responsive to the kids. He made sure they did not miss a thing. Highly recommend these guys. Remember to TIP them well as they deserve it. read more

We stayed here during the Covid-19 pandemic. We felt safe with all measures to protect our health. The staff was absolutely wonderful! The beds and pillows were comfortable and the cabins were well supplied with everything we needed! There were so many extra touches to make the cabins special. Breakfast was included and was individually wrapped fu this sensitive time. Fresh homemade blueberry muffins were delicious. I can't recommend this wonderful place enough! Unbelievable in every way, from the time we were picked up at the Anchorage airport to the time they dropped us off at the Airport Marriott the Drifter's Lodge Staff went the extra mile to make our stay OUTSTANDING! We stayed in the Russian House which was FANTASTIC - Three bedrooms, one upstairs and two downstairs and an outdoor fire pit that will provide many great memories for years to come. Highly, highly, highly recommend their All-Inclusive packages - they leave no detail undone! We have already booked the 4 day fishing/5 nights' package for 2019! The guides for both our Salmon and Halibut fishing were the BEST! They both went the extra mile to make sure our fishing was both successful and memorable. These people truly believe in customer service, our fire pit magically was cleaned every day and had fresh firewood at all times! We were a party of 4 and we could not have had a better experience. Wonderful experience at our recent stay at Drifter's Lodge Kenai River ... the staff was friendly, helpful , clean accommodations , great continental breakfast , sauna and fire pit . Our guide Austin who took us out on 9 Hour drift boat on the Skilak Lake and Kenai River was amazing . It was my first time fishing for sockeye salmon , my son has fished many times . Austin was determined I would catch a salmon, which I did . Randy and I each caught 2 , weighing about 8-10 lbs... Austin was the best guide,knowledgeable about all aspects of fishing and the area of the lake and river, the rules and regulations of Alaska fishing. A friend who lives in Alaska highly recommended this river raft tour. We were not disappointed! It was a very enjoyable, scenic, and mostly gentle trip on the Kenai River. Our guide, Tommy, was a very capable navigator and a wealth of information about the various landmarks as well as about the fish, flora and fauna we encountered along the 2 hour tour. We took the 2pm tour, and the weather was perfect. They provided rain boots which came in handy since you have to step along the river's edge. Even though we didn't need them, they did also have rain jackets & waterproof bags available. This was the first time my husband, 14 yr old daughter, and I have gone rafting, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We would definitely do this again! read more

A fun raft trip- Canyon raft trip - more like a float trip with a little action but we did not get wet so that should give you an idea. There may have been 1 or 2 splashes. Tons of eagles - at one point it seemed like they were everywhere all around us - in the trees, flying around overhead, in the river. We saw one brown bear that was young so did not hang out long on the shore. Fun to see the combat fishing on the Kenai. The 2 mile hike out was very pretty - little up at the end but overall not that bad. Good to stretch the legs after the rafting. We also spent 2 nights in a cabin which was nice. The only thing is that the layout is awkward because the beds are packed in upstairs with the bathroom downstairs. Otherwise the breakfast and everything else was nice. read more

Last year Drifter's Lodge was able to get us a last minute drift for sockeye so we called them to book fall fishing for a couple days this year. Bob and Andy were great setting up the trip the way we wanted. James Still is a superb, engaging guide who got us into the best trout I've seen on the Kenai; in spite of weather and flood conditions. Bob runs an excellent Lodge! My wife and I spent two nights and two days fishing at Kenai Drifter's Lodge on June 14 and 15th this year (2018). The cabins were very nice, well equipped and comfortable. We fished one day at the Refuge with an excellent guide, Jason. The second day we fished the Russian River with another excellent guide, Nick. We caught Red Sockeye Salmon on both days while enjoying beautiful scenery and lot's of wildlife (bears, eagles etc). In addition, on day one, we had time to catch some Hugh Rainbow Trout before heading back to the Lodge. This was my wife's first trip and she definitely wants to go back! This was our first rafting experience for our family (3 kids ages 7-10). It was a blast, at first I was nervous but the staff was amazing and explained all of what to expect. We had the best guide JACOB!! You could see he enjoys his job and made the 3 hour tour fun for all of us. Me and my brother did a week long guy's fishing trip through Drifters Lodge the last week of July and let me tell you, from start to finish, the entire experience was marked by customer service that is foreign to anywhere else on planet Earth! Even when our flight came in at 0330, Steve was there promptly to pick us up and talk to us about Alaska and had all the knowledge about what to expect in the coming days. Every guide, driver and employee at Drifters are the most respectable, helpful, genuinely nice, and knowledgeable people I have come into contact with. Their customer service is out of this world and completely blew me away. We got the all inclusive package which really is all inclusive. If you are hungry, you can call the front desk and they will order and bring you food from any one of the many local restaurants or they will drive you there, pick up the check and drive you back no matter how much you spend. At one point, after a day of King fishing, Marsha offered to take us to the grocery store and buy whatever we wanted for snacks for the next few days. The atmosphere there that the staff created made you feel like their only goal is that you had the perfect vacation and you had everything you needed to feel completely relaxed during your stay. I truly have never experienced service like this in my life and if I could I would rate this place higher than 5 stars because they really do go above and beyond. I can't say enough about how great our experience was! I will be recommending them to everyone I meet and will definitely be back! read more

A definite 5 stars to Bob, Andy and their team!!! We had a group of 8 spend two nights at the Lodge and their customer service was spectacular! I was trying to plan it and I called them numerous times a day and they were always friendly and helpful. They made sure that we were all well prepared for an awesome time with them. We booked the last week of July with only a few weeks notice, so Bob worked diligently to find us the accommodations we needed. The fire pit is an awesome place to relax after a day of fishing but a few of us tried the sauna that is at waters edge. It was awesome! Bob and Andy truly do whatever it takes to make sure you have an awesome time! We had to break into two groups, four fished the Kenai for red's and four did a fly in with Talon Aviationon the first day! They were absolutely blown away by the fly in! The rest of us did the Talon Aviation fly in the second day and we were equally amazed!! I would highly recommend it! The lodge was well equipped with very comfortable beds and a full kitchen. That said, Bob and Andy made some great recommendations for food nearby and it was awesome as well. They take care of every detail; fishing licenses, waders, gear, even breakfast and lunch packed in a cooler with water for each of us. The guides they use are true professionals and well prepared to get us on fish, while helping us see some absolutely beautiful scenery. They even pointed the guys that had later departures to an awesome hike nearby. If you are considering coming to the Kenai peninsula, staying with the Drifter's Lodge is a must! read more

Did a half day fishing trip with relatives visiting from out of town. Will was our guide and he did a great job. Enthusiastic and informative during the trip. The boat was well maintained and the gear was good. Prices were fair for the trip. We got there early and hung out at the lodge for about 30-45 minutes by the fire pit. The sights were beautiful. Fishing trip of a lifetime! The Drifters Lodge and staff were beyond expectation...starting from picking us us at the Airport in Anchorage, taking us to the local Super Market purchasing us every item we might need over our 4 day stay, shuttling us to and from the best restaurants in Coopers Landing for dinners and picking up the tab. We stayed in the Russian log cabin with an incredible view of the Kenai River, forest and snow capped mountains. The fishing was superb! We limited out every day on Cohu, Sockeye and Silver Salmon on Kenai and Lake Skilak...Halibut and Rock fish out of Seward...and catch and release fly fishing for Rainbow trout, Dolly Vardon and King Samon! Our Guides were the best! John and Jack are total pros...we never baited a hook, untangled a line or filleted a fish! They did it all! The Drifters Lodge staff provided all our gear and lunches...very personable and professional - can't wait to get back here next year! read more

So so so glad that a friend told me about this lodge. I was looking for a place to stay with my friends in early October and would've overlooked Drifter's completely unless he told me about it. Heather answered the phone and was very courteous and friendly, explaining the difference between all the cabins in the lodge so that I could choose just the right one for my friends and I. When I asked about their float tours, she sadly said the season was over by then (early Oct) but that we should call Alaskan River Adventures who stays open through October. When she said there was a sauna that faced the river and also a bonfire, I was totally sold. I told her my friends and I were thinking about going hiking and were looking for a guide, and she inquired around and found that one of their colleagues Heidi could've done a customized special tour for us and promptly got back to me. Though we didn't take her up on the offer, everything else at this lodge was awesome. Bob greeted us cheerfully when we arrived a bit late in the evening and checked us in without grumbling at the late hour. We stayed in Cabin 5 which had 2 queens and 2 twins on the upstairs and the first floor was really modern yet had that cute Alaskan rugged feel to it. It felt really cute, quaint and clean. They don't allow fish at all into the cabins, so that really helps to keep things clean. We were getting the very last night of the season so we were super lucky. One thing--THE BEDS WERE AMAZING. And so were the pillows. Probably some of the best sleep I've ever had was in the cabins here at this lodge. I even asked and found out they were Sleep Comfort beds by Nerlands that are found in Anchorage's Costco (yes I was really serious about these beds!) :) The view of the Kenai is just stunning from the property and really special. The indoor sauna was super relaxing, watching the soft emerald green water float by along with lovely Merganser ducks and Bald Eagles. I highly recommend this great lodge. read more

We rented the "Lodge" for five days. The view of the river is unbelievable and can be seen from most windows in the Lodge. The lodges deck is just above the river and has two picnic tables and a BBQ. While BBQing salmon we had caught on the river a moose swam by in the river. The owners were great and very sociable. They were real busy working on the resort, but always made time to answer our questions. I highly recommend this place. read more

I realized I should have left this review a year ago. However, here it is. My wife and I stayed here in July of 2018. Neither of us are avid fisherman. However, we had the most amazing time here. The guided fishing trips were incredible! Everything was organized for us and taken care of. Everything was scheduled out for us. We were just along for the ride. We stayed in a small two story bungalow. It's nothing fancy but it works (FYI, you won't be spending much time in there anyway). When we weren't out fishing, we were either at one of the restaurants in the area or relaxing by the camp fire. We met several other couples and other vacationer's there and had some great times drinking well into the evening. Just be careful, If you're not used to the neverending sunset it's easy to lose track of time! Haha. We highly recommend Drifters and look forward to saving up for another trip back one day! read more

Jamie, Allison, and Andy were so helpful with their advice for activities in the area. Our private raft tour on the Kenai was unforgettable! Be sure to request River Biscuit as your raft guide! The campfire was perfect for getting to know the employees and guests. We loved it so much we stayed an extra night! We booked a cabin last minute with Drifter's Lodge but had one of their staff call us a few hours later apologizing profusely and explaining that she had accidentally already booked the cabin but forgotten to put the reservation in the system; because they were fully booked that night there wasn't anywhere on the property for us to stay. However, Drifter's went above and beyond to secure us another cabin at a neighboring lodge, gave us the full run of their facility (fire pits, sauna, breakfast), and offered to include us on one of their river rafting trips -- all complimentary. They were so apologetic and accommodating, and in the end we had a fantastic experience. All too often in the busy season good customer service can go out the window, but for Drifter's, just the opposite turned out to be true. I would definitely give them my business next time I'm in Cooper Landing. read more

We used Drifters Lodge for their fishing guide service and we are extremely happy with how our trip worked out. Our guide, Austin, asked us to meet him at 3am (yes, 3am) so we could get to the BEST location on the river before anyone else. It was definitely worth the early morning wake up because the spot he took us to on the lower Kenai was definitely the hot spot that morning. Austin & my husband each caught their limit and I brought in two nice fish that I foul hooked so I had to release them. I hooked at least 10 fish, but I don't have the experience to "get the job done" so I lost them, but had a lot of fun in the process (especially watching them jump on the end of my line!). Austin was as excited for me as I was and he taught us a lot about fishing (how to do the flip). At the end of the day, we had a nice time drifting down river to the pull out. We will definitely go back again! read more

We booked a half day fishing trip with our kids and I called twice before we went to confirm it was appropriate for kids (I was clear that my kids were young and had never fished) and I was assured that it was. Our guide obviously had never been told that it was a family with young kids joining him. First, there were no kids' life jackets and our 40 pound little one had to wear an XL Adult jacket. Second, it was fly fishing! No one had mentioned that and I didn't think to ask. First time fishermen, on a small boat, with 2 little kids does not work when fly fishing. I gave up after only about 20 minutes and within an hour my daughters gave up after tangling lines, catching the side of the boat, becoming tired of standing, etc. Fly fishing rods are VERY long and no matter how hard they tried it wasn't working. It became a slow float trip after that. The scenery was beautiful, but after a couple hours I think we all kept wishing it was over. Everyone in the office was nice and our guide was good, I just wouldn't recommend the trip for young families. read more
