I found Kenji burger as we were looking for a place to eat before our boat tour. It was one of a few places to eat before 12. The menu looked good and pleased the kids so we decided to try it. The parking lot was so small and there is a limited amount of seats inside and outside. Our group of 9 was able to get seats and parking but it filled up quick. The place smelled of oil and grease which just got worse as the cooking progressed. My husband got the truffle burger which he said was good. The hamburgers I ordered for my kids they hardly ate but I made sure to ask for well done because they cook everything to medium. I was surprised the kids burger was the same size as the regular burger. My chicken katsu was good with the spicy slaw. My only concern was the price of everything extra. The drinks were $4, the drink covers were $0.85 extra and you didn't get one if you said eat in. Also it was quite hot in there every with the fans. Plus: they have a restroom! read more

I decided to stop at Kenji Burger as it was one of the few places in the area that was still open on the later side. After a 13+ hr travel day, I just wanted something hearty...and we were so glad we stopped here! *AMBIANCE* This is a fast casual restaurant so once you order, they give you a tag and you can sit anywhere you'd like. They have indoor seating and a cute outdoor patio area in the back. During the day, they have water spray bottles to drive away the aggressive chickens that want your food. Parking is very limited right in front of the shop (I'm talking like 5 spots). *FOOD* Kenji has an assortment of land and sea....burgers, salads, sushi and some interesting bowls. I ordered the Japanese Burrito which I loved! The fish was very fresh and I loved how the flavors and textures melted together. Would highly recommend if you like sushi! We also got to try the furikake fries which was yummy too. The temperature of the fries could have been a tad warmer, but this was worth trying. *SERVICE* The lady at the counter was very friendly and she delivered our food out to the patio in a timely manner. Wow this chain is a definitely must try when in Kauai! However, sometimes parking can be a bit rough, especially when other customers partially park in other lanes. If you're planning on visiting on dinner time, plan ahead for possible parking issues. The food here was so good, we visited twice in a 2 days. The first time I got the hapaa burger with the pineapple coleslaw on the side. I usually do not like coleslaw in general but definitely loved the sirarcha pineapple coleslaw from Kenji! The meat on the burger was a decent size and I was definitely full after eating it. However the burger was a bit dry without the slaw so I ended up putting it on the burger, however if you're not a fan of it I'm sure you can ask them to add lettuce. My bf got the Japanese burrito and man is it the star of the show! I tried a bite and I just wanted to keep eating it! So much so we had to come back just for it! We both got Japanese burgers our next visit. It's fresh, they don't skimp you on the tuna. The tuna is not fishy at all! It's something you can eat and it not be heavy. We definitely recommend trying the Japanese burrito! Our second visit we ordered to go since we had trouble finding parking. However, there is a few tables in side and you can also sit outside. We also noticed a small charge for ordering to-go. Nothing too crazy, but they didn't mention it to us when we paid. Good fresh seafood right by the sea right in Kapa'a. In my experience, it's a rare experience when what seems to be a moderate (in the definitive sense) amount of food fills you as well as it does and tastes out of this world as well. Or maybe it would be more appropiate to say that it works according to the proper way that REAL food should: filling you, tasting good, and being seemingly natural in origin. Each of my family members' meals were better than we were expecting and we came here already at the recommendation of a local tour guide a few days earlier who claimed that this was likely her favorite place. The food was delivered to us, which was a lovely cherry blossom on top of an already chill Sunday afternoon, and the locale was nice. It was clean, not too busy, and had easy parking. They also included a spray bottle on each table outside for warding off the locals (invading roosters and chickens) when they pressed their luck a bit much. Hubby wanted to try a burger place and we found this place. It's in a strip mall, parking can be tough when it's busy. Kenji has an outdoor sitting area and a bar area with high top chairs. The service was awesome! The person who took our order at the counter was friendly. The bar staff and waitress delivered our drinks and food super fast.
