Wow this was such a great burger place! Came in on a thursday around 5pm and it was a little quiet. The bartender girl was sweet and working hard :). As for the burgers... amazing!! Absolutely no complaints! The bun so light and soft, patties cooked to perfection, and the cheeseeeeeeeee so good. Onion rings were big which is a GREAT thing! Perfectly breaded and fried. Extremely crispy! :) I believe the gentlemen that came by and asked if everything was tasting great was the Chef, and for that I appreciate! Thank you Smitty's. read more

We came here when they were in the food cart across the street from the resort. We loved them then, we love them now! So good! They are now in the Nawiliwili Lounge. Which is nice as you can eat inside. The Kauai burger was outstanding! This burger has Kalua pig, grilled pineapple, grilled onions, cheddar cheese and Hawaiian BBQ sauce. Omg- just amazing! The Smittyaki burger is a mushroom Swiss cheese burger. I had a couple bites of it and it was flat out amazing too. Great onion rings and fries too! My wife and I were talking about this place. We're thinking a top 5 burger place that we've been too. They do a great job! This place is legit- Lihue is lucky to have them! Great job! read more

Best smash burger . I got the traditional burger to celebrate America's 250th bday and date got the mushroom burger. He liked my traditional burger better, and I liked his mushroom burger. This was the best 4th of July BBQ burger I ever ate, sad because nothing will compare in the future unless I return. Best smashburger I've ever had. Period. I got the Smittyaki burger which has Swiss and mushrooms but their house made teriyaki sauce took it over the top. SO GOOD. So much umami. Crispy edges on the burger and deliciousness all around. Smitty basket was great to try the waffle, shoestring and onion rings. Onion rings were great. It's inside of a bar but my husband and I were pleasantly surprised. He got the regular Smittyburger and it was yummy too. Don't let the number of reviews fool you. Just landed on Kauai and was looking for a good lunch place close to our hotel. Smitty's smash burgers sounded really good. We were driving and looking for parking in the area. All the pictures on Yelp show a red and white food truck. I didn't see it but there was a sign on the front of the nawiliwili bar and lounge with cones in the front. I went inside to inquire if the food truck wasn't there for the day. And the bartender told me that they actually were working out of the kitchen at the bar. My husband ordered us a Smashburger to share with fries. I really like the fries because they're nice and hot and almost like a wedge swirl. The burger we got with two patties and a fried egg on top felt a little bit oily to me. I wish there was more lettuce, tomatoes, pickles - fresh items on it. But my husband absolutely enjoyed it. The ranch was very delicious. It had great flavor. Just a bit watered down. Overall we were happy with the location and the food. The service was quick and we actually ended up taking it to go to either another spot in the area. But if you wanted to, you could eat at the bar they just asked that everyone (especially the kids) be fully dressed and not in bathing suits. read more

Love us some Smitty! It is a burger joint located inside of a separate business which is a tavern/bar. The burgers are bomb, the onion rings are freaking delicious, the chicken wings are awesome & the sauces are spot on. We also really enjoy having something different on Kaua'i. The folks that work there are awesome as well. It's a nice laid back spot to grab a cold beer & a great meal. read more

Great find for the family! My boys are hamburger connoisseurs and they love the smash burger. What I loved is seeing the partnership between Smitty and its location owners- a bar. The service was nice and friendly. It was fun seeing Smitty through the little hole - customizing and personalizing or burger (with time and love) to take back to the Royal Sonesta. I am not a burger fan but even I enjoyed my half! As far as sitting and eating - there are tables there, and it's in a bar, we just didn't use them. read more

So happy that Smitty's is now part of Nāwiliwili Lounge! I fell in love with the double Smitty's when his food truck was at the night markets. It was a tough time on island when I stopped finding him. Thankfully - the Smitty's social media told me when he found a new home. Such a great landing spot - really comfortable place with super nice servers. GREAT place to catch a game! As a PAC NW transplant - I enjoyed the M's playoff run and Seahawks games while enjoying the usual - Smitty's double with onion rings and a side of Smitty's special sauce. Aloha, we were amazed at Smitty's Smash Burger!!! First off, they have moved from their food truck to Nawiliwili Tavern on Paena Lp. The Tavern setting is quite unique with a large dining area with a feeling of the old days gone by. The staff (Alex "Host/Bartender" and Brian (Chef/Smoke Roaster" were very friendly and made us feel welcomed and knew their history of both the food truck and tavern. The food was absolutely delicious, we had smash burgers like none other!!! My Kaua'i Smash Burger was the perfect Hawaiian blend of Kalua pig, grilled pineapple, bacon, cheese, Kaua'i beef blend and Hawaiian style BBQ sauce. It was a jaw breaker with a recommended extra patty added along with outstanding waffle fries. My wife went with the Smittyaki Smash Burger which also had an amazing blend of teriyaki sauce, onions, mushrooms, cheese and a Kaua'i beef blend patty and onion rings! In conclusion, you can not go wrong with your decision to dine at this wonderful piece of paradise. read more

We were immediately greeted by Alex, when we entered this wonderful establishment! He was very polite and courteous. He suggests I order the Smittyyaki burger. My burger was delicious & outstanding in all its flavors!!! The cook Brian, approached us at our table. He was very professional & asked if my husband & I enjoyed our burgers. My husband ordered the Kaui burger. It was also very tasty. We informed him that we both were satisfied & extremely pleased with our meals. Everything was cooked to perfection~ To our onion rings & waffle fries! Vacationing from Oahu~ we will definitely be returning to your amazing establishment on our next return to Kaui! Ordered inside of the nawilili bar and lounge. Got their hot honey (not really hot) and lemon pepper wings. OMG, they are some of the best wings I've ever had! Have a nice smoked flavor, crispy and large. Definitely get them, you won't be disappointed. This bar also has delicious Mai Tais (with lilikoi foam) and friendly service! read more

Upon recommendation from our server at the Marriott Beach Club we tried out Smitty's Smash Burger for dinner. Quick five minute walk from the Marriott and you arrive at Smitty's. Immediately welcomed and seated. I just came in for the Smashburger and fries, but other tables were ordering hot wings and onion rings so there are other options for sides. I love smash burgers and this one did not disappoint. Seasoned and cooked perfect! It was a quick dining experience as we wanted to relax from a long day, but definitely worth a stop by for a quick bite, especially if you're staying at the surrounding resort. read more

First place I stopped at to eat with the family for our trip... SPEECHLESS. so yummy, so seasoned to perfection and so filling. I got the Smitty's Burger and it was just SOOO GOOD. Perfect smash burger and amazing flavors with a yummy bun. Came to watch football and eat before our flight too and it's just the perfect spot to watch ur sports and eat a great burger. My wife and I were staying very close by, so we made it a point to visit it during our week long stay in Kauai. The concept and beer selection was great, but the food tasted no different from what one would get from a cafeteria. It's important to check their hours when their food is offered, since it differs from their open hours. Currently food hours are 10:30 - 14:30, W-Sa (opening one hour earlier on Saturday). We came on Friday, and walked around the mall until their kitchen opened. It wasn't too busy yet, so was able to order and pay. While waiting, added two cans of alcohol, at which time the food was ready. Brought everything out to the common outdoor tables that can be used for dining. There is a large choice of local beers in cans, and we chose two: Lanikai Brewing Company's Pualani Sour Ale ($6) and Paradise Ciders (Honolulu HI)'s Lei'd Back Lilikoi ($3.50). Both were good, and would absolutely use this store to buy local beers to take back home in the future. Both of us love brisket, so got the brisket sandwich a la carte for $18.99, and added a side of cole slaw ($3) and Mac Salad ($3). It was a medium sandwich to begin with (used a hoagie type soft bun), but with so much bbq sauce mixed with the chopped brisket, it became more of a bbq sauce sandwich. The sauce itself was good, and the chopped brisked seemed OK, but the ratio was way off. The sides were OK with small portions. For $24.99, should have gotten better...even in a tourist area of Hawaii.

As we worked our way through the tater tots - the bottom of the container there were mini deep fried insects. Since it is a food truck and open, my guess is that flying critters land in the oil. There were a few on the container. I didn't complain as we were just about done. The food was good but the bugs were what brought it down.

Every restaurant around the food truck court was an average of $60 per person, I was out of money, and I figured I'd come to a cheaper place for a final meal.... And boy was I pleasantly surprised. I came here the very first day of soft opening, it was magnificent! best burger i've ever had on island of my whole 18 years of living here. The first time i visited, was slightly different, bun and side wise but it is understandable as it was just the first week of opening but still is outstanding.
