Kenji Burger is a great casual spot in Kauai. I beleive there are four locations on the island. The food is good, and the Kenji burger is definitely worth trying. The loco moco is also really good. They don't use the traditional gravy, instead, they have their own sauce, which is different but still works well with the dish. Prices are pretty reasonable, especially for Kauai. Overall, a solid place for a quick, casual meal if you're in the area. read more

It added a slight sweetness to the savory burger. Be aware this burger is very juicy, and your fingers and hands will be sticky from the sauce that oozes out with every bite! The Kenji burger a winner! Furikake Fries - 4.5/5 The furikake sauce was over the top layer of fries and is very tasty. It went very well with the french fries. The only comment that I would like to point out is the sauce is sprinkled only on the top of fries. When you're finished with the top layer of fries, the middle and bottom layer of fries have no sauce. Suggestion - drizzle some sauce on the bottom layers, or offer extra sauce to the customer if needed. Our experience at Kenji Burger was enjoyable. Service was fast and the food was filling for what you're paying for. I feel like one order of fries could feed 2 people. We came remembering a wonderful char-grilled burger but we were wrong. The burgers are just grilled like McDonalds. The beef is much better, lean Hawai'i ground beef and it was ok, just didn't rise to a higher level as we expected for a premium burger. They were dressed ok but fries are extra and they were fried brown and crunchy to the point we didn't eat them. Their drink selection is limited and they have few beers available. So my wife is heading home from work and is passing by so she stops by and tries to get it resolved and girl at the front says she "knows for a fact that she packed it" and "there's nothing she can do about it but give a credit", kept saying she put it in the bag and asked the cook to verify. Was told to go back the next day to pick it up...why would I want to come back the next day? I ordered dinner for tonight, not tomorrow.. I'm trying to get it resolved now. Yeah, by the time my wife got there it was 5 minutes before closing but sorry, your restaurant is the one who didn't put the correct food in the bag and then not answer the phone. Couldn't give me a refund, couldn't refund the difference between the regular side of fries and a Japanese burrito. All she could do was give me a credit or come back tomorrow...right on. Everything else was good average . We came in with high expectations from what we had seen on social media. Our fries were soggy; however, it could have been due to having them as takeout versus dine in. We unfortunately had a not so positive service experience. There was a moment where it seemed that the two staff were gossiping about us as they were whispering and glanced in our direction a few times (this could very much be an assumption.) When we asked for ketchup, one of them was going to give us a handful (the standard amount you'd expect) but the other staff stopped her from doing so, and only gave us two. We also didn't receive any utensils/napkins in our bag. This whole interaction made us feel off. Had to order take out for mainland guests in middle of storm. The order was waiting for me in the 15 minutes I took to get there. The kitchen labeled every box, drew hearts on the children's orders. We seriously love Kenji Burger in Lihue and in Kōloa. Both are great food. We ordered the old Skool burger and different types of sushi. Service is good. Waiters are considerate and friendly.
