Such friendly service! They really make you feel glad you came in. The Ramen... DELICIOUS the broths were spiced in umami sauce and so good. The noodles were the perfect density, had a great bite. All the separate proteins in my dish were cooked perfectly from the 3 min half egg to the pork, the spice level is definitely HOT on my dish but you can request your level of heat. My grandson loved his BYO noodles and the tofu so much he cleaned the plates. Great spot to warm up on these brisk winter day or just to brighten any day. Please please please bring back the original DIY ramen bowls. Such an iconic staple for the area and really built the fan base here. The portions have gone down in size (as well as the prices) but I always appreciated having enough for leftovers which is no longer the case. I have been a huge fan of their hot and spicy pork. I probably ordered it once per week for 2-3 years. Since the remodel, for take out orders, it has been awful. I have always loved this place but I live the updated decor! Makes it really feel like a restaurant instead of just a room with some tables like it did before. One thing I don't like that was changed with the new management was the ramen, it changed a lot. They have very few options now and it tastes a lot less flavorful than before. Amazing, much bigger, spacious and modern, menu has a bunch of new stuff. I reluctantly ordered sushi cause I'm a self admitted sushi snob with high standards. I would come to this restaurant now over many others for the sushi alone. I ordered a rainbow roll and some other can't remember name............... Cajun something ? Anyway very very good!! Service was exceptional, fast, friendly and attentive. My daughters ordered custom ramen which is why we used to come here for. Ordered the GYOZA for appetizer I swear it's the best GYOZA I've ever had!! What a great place to eat this is one of our TOP three places in town we go to when we want to go out to eat. Understandably busy on a Friday night had to wait 40 min for table. Not only worth the wait but they make it very convenient with text messaging not only confirming your place in line but keeps you updated in real time as you wait and message sent she ready so we sat in our warm car and played cards and listened to radio. Can't wait to go back. $93.00 for three people included three soft drinks, one appetizer, two big ass bowls of ramen made to order with tons of options and two specialty sushi rolls. Came in to Kenjis after not going for over a year. The remodel is beautiful, nothing like the old restaurant. The bar and kitchen have both been relocated, and things seem to make a lot more sense now. We were sat in the bar and our server was Joey, he was kind, patient and just an all around great seeming guy. He makes some banger cocktails as well. Some really good Pho here!!! It's spicy and delicious. Lots of different options for you Pho too. The service is top notch too. We got the cucumber salad and it had a really spicy flavor which was very refreshing to the palate. Our Pho came out very hot temperature wise and I loved it. The place has very high ceilings and it was cold in there with a breeze too. You have to eat your Pho fast or else it will be cold. This is my go to place for Pho. read more

First time back since the re-opening. We were worried, but not disappointed! The BYO ramen was as great as I remembered. Tempura made it back on the menu for the first time in ages, and it was out of this world. If anyone remembers the original tempura offering, it's not the same, but it's better in my opinion! A smaller and affordable portion where you'll eat every bite. Portions are a little smaller, but so are the prices! We paid less on this visit than we used to, and there was no waste. The remodel looks stunning, and although the staff is pretty new, everyone was cheerful and doing great! If you weren't sure about going back, I do recommend it! Of it wasn't for the logos branded on everything i could believe this was a different place. It feels like old Kenjis was a local hole in the wall, family restaurant. Now it feels like fine dining. It's a little too fancy. it's still amazing food and service, the new cocktails are delicious, I highly recommend "Sarah's cocktail" if you like matcha. I have been a customer since Kenji's opened almost 10 years ago. I have always enjoyed their food. I went tonight and found they had recently changed their menu. They had a few new ramen bowls that I was thinking about. I ended up ordering the gyoza (my go to) deep fried. It was great as usual, but the sauce was a new recipe. It was a little thicker than usual and it had a little zing to it. It was awesomely delicious! I also ordered the Couve ramen bowl with pork belly. The broth was a different recipe as well. It was creamier than the old recipe and so good. The new noodles are a little firmer than before and held up really well in the broth. The pork belly was the most tender I've ever had. I'll have to admit I was a little nervous about the new menus and recipe changes. I think the food is actually better than it was before. I will be going back soon. read more

I hate to leave a bad review but I have to warn other gluten-free and celiac eaters. This place is not safe for us, unfortunately. It was a really cute vibe and pretty busy. I ordered the gluten free & vegetarian ramen. it came out and I ate half of my bowl before the waiter came out and apologized saying it was not gluten-free. I was pretty sad because it was good ramen. but now I will be dealing with health issues for weeks because of this. they didn't even offer the meal for free. This is our second visit to this incredible restaurant! We were thrilled with the hospitality we received! Both Jay, during this visit, and Josh previously were intently focused on our experience while we were there. They were both courteous and respectful at every contact. The food was awesome!! We enjoyed the Gyoza for an appetizer (get the pan seared)! Our main course were the Ramen, Karai Kimchi and Vegie Tofu, Not only was the presentation delightful, the flavors will certainly impress the palate! We closed with the desert, the Mochi! We tried both the traditional flavors and more modern flavors. The desert is not to be missed. We will return to this restaurant. It is now on top of our list for excellent dining experiences. If I could give zero stars, I would. I went to Kenji's expecting the same amazing ramen I had come to love. When I learned about the new menu and chef, I didn't think much of it and ordered what seemed closest to my usual favorites. What I got was nothing short of disappointing. The ramen, which once felt like a soulful experience, full of flavor and joy, is now a pale imitation of its former self. The noodles were thin and clumped together, the pork belly was bland and lacked the crispy perfection it used to have, and the toppings were practically nonexistent. I wouldn't recommend Kenji's to anyone. Unless the old chef returns, it's just not worth it--and even then, I might stay away out of principle. read more

I just made this account only to make a review for this place. Kenji's Ramen was utterly a disappointment ever since they changed their menu to be more basic and got their new chef. The service was nice as always, they informed us that they changed their entire menu completely and got a new chef, so me and my father didn't think much about it and got "Kenji's speciality ramen" or whatever it's called. We went multiple times before the menu "upgrade" and it was a 10/10 all times. Now I would say it's a 2/10 after the poor changes. We got our food fast as usual, but the noodles were clumped together and chewy, the broth was bland, they removed corn entirely from all ramens and the Create Your Own Ramen section of the menu too. Kimchi did not seem to exist in the bowl whatsoever. I will not be returning UNLESS the old chef comes back and the menu and the "high quality ingredients" are reverted. This place honestly used to be special to me and my father, now it's a lame ramen joint. At least the interior looked nice. I would have rather had a cup of instant noodles that night. 2/10 read more

Our FAVORITE place for Ramen, in the couve. It could use more meat in the soup. But the flavors are there. We tend to stick with the original. I make it spicy and add jalapeños, but the wife sticks with how it's served. While the marinated eggs and pork belly highlight the ramen. The 10hour bone broth stands on its own within the dish and is not outshined. We've had friends order different items from Kenji's and they are never disappointed! As far as the atmosphere, it's not great for large parties or kids as the space is a little smaller and it echos. I am not hard of hearing but during a lunch rush I struggled to hear our server. Man what the hell happen to this place ?this used to be my favorite restaurant in vancouver . This is the second time around that the food has been terrible , This time is was more about what they had available : they were 86 on so many signature items . The couve ramen as always been the best with ground pork it makes the dish .... well the ground pork was 86 at 5 pm on a wednesday. No more chicken wings , no poke bowls . it now takes us 45 min to get to kenji's and i think we are gonna simply go and risk a car break in and eat ramen in Portland . Also heard on our way out that there is a new ramen chef ... the non present owner is gonna have a rude awaking when they ever gonna finish their remodel but right this menu sucks . read more
