I been coming here for years with my partner and have never had a problem. We recently split up and now I have been banned for no apparent reason except the manager David Diaz is putting his self in my personal business. Just this past week on WEDNESDAY I was sitting at the bar minding my own business when he sent me an inbox while he sat 4 seats down telling me I was no longer welcomed in the establishment.He said he has spoken with the staff however when i showed a staff member the message she seemed confused bc she had just told me it was fine for me to be in there. If one person is banned for drama shouldn't the other person involved in the drama be also? Don't become close with him bc they will hold stuff against you not even knowing what is going on. I thought my money was just like everyone else's seems like he has a personal problem if you ask me not to mention a severe mental problem for liking Pregnant women's breast milk and talks about women inappropriately . After the relatively good reviews online, we decided to drop in shortly after the bar opened at 2pm on St. Patrick's Day. The seats at the bar were almost filled. Many customers know the bar staff and greet each other warmly. It definitely feels like a neighborhood place. We do plan to come back. I normally select to sit at the bar, providing this short person can use a step to boost myself up. As I am using a 4-wheel rolling cart due to a health issue, I need an area with space for my 4-wheeler. There's not an area at the bar where I would not disturb anyone. There are booths around the room with tables and chairs at the back, close to the bathrooms. The one pool table was folded up out of the way. You can tell that they are expecting a large crowd as there is a tent set up a few feet from the entrance and many chairs distributed around. Of course, they offered Guinness on tap and a good number of other beers on tap, I ordered Shiner Bock. I prefer a glass mug, not plastic; however, the beer was cold. We decided not to have lunch as the information online listed shots, booze and beer offerings as well as a very limited food menu. We were surprised to be told that this bar offers no food at all. I don't know about anyone else, but part of a bar experience is bar food. The waitress told us that the bar has contacted Google; however, Google has refused to take the limited menu down. How very strange! So, be prepared! Eat beforehand or, as you are allowed to bring in food, bring your own munchies. There's a Mexican restaurant within walking distance of the bar. There's a Mediterranean restaurant Pasha's, across the street. There's a Kentucky fried chicken place up on Fredericksburg Road. Definitely a place to visit regularly. One issue: the music was too loud. I know it's a bar but we do want to talk to each other and be heard without screaming. read more

This is my go-to bar for years and love the bartenders and people that visit. It is a wide-range of people and I have met some great people over the years. My favorite night is Wednesday nights for the $3.50 you-call-it. This did go up 50 cents since they reopened, but you cannot beat this price anywhere in town. Jenn, the bartender, works on Wednesday early shift and will take care of you. Since the reopening, they have taken the precautions and added food to there offerings. This food is from Max & Louie's New York Diner. This is an added bonus, but there is other food options nearby; including El Gallito De Jalisco that has good tacos and Jerusalem Grill that offers great sandwiches. Meh - even for a dive bar, this place wasn't very much fun. There were lots of cars in the parking lot but where was everyone? Only a handful of people inside, the bulk of the people were outside, smoking on the patio. The music was loud inside so you couldn't really hear each other. It was actually kind of boring and I didn't stay long. It was a good, safe place, just really didn't have much fun and didn't dig the vibe. Horrible service! Walked in there on 2 separate occasions about 2 months apart and was Ignored. My friend and I walked in and patiently waited for acknowledgment. Don't like to see bartenders taking shots with customers. All of the TV's on TV channels seems like a missed opportunity to use it for advertisements with a logo for the bar and upcoming specials. Good sound system though but I didn't hear one Irish song while in the bar. Would benefit from some premixed music so there is no dead air times which happened almost every time a song stopped. There's a jukebox but people didn't pay any attention to it. Guinness was sadly short poured both times. Irish pub is a great neighborhood bar with skilled, friendly and attentive bartenders, great crowd, awesome specials and great prices. It's nestled and kind of hidden, but has ample parking. I've been there plenty of times and have always had a great experience. Place is decorated mute but tastefully, with ambient lighting, the drink specials vary and are aplenty, and the bartenders are skilled. Even on nights when they're slammed they are quick to engage and fill orders. Went there with three other friends for a few drink. Bill at the end of the night with 4 drinks each was $40. Because I'm a full-fledged believer that when a day such as St. Patrick's Day is near you should take a whole week to celebrate it. So my first "Irish bar" this week is The Irish Pub. This quaint little pub is full of sheep herders and old men........ I'm just kidding. On a Sunday night it was full of an array of people. Young, older, and the blue collar guys who just want a beer. It has a digital jukebox and apparently someone loves rap music. One pool table, so if you wanna play be prepared to win the table. One dart machine and a decent amount of seating. The bartender took a bit to recognize me, probably because I'm short. Once he did, he apologized for the wait. They have shot specials and drink specials. Now, I'm glad that you're an Irish pub..... I'm sad that the only "Irish" is Guinness. They had two tap stations and only Guinness.....curse you Silver Eagle and MillerCoors for dominating the keg scene. I was expecting a freakin cute Irish leprachaun to greet me as I opened the wooden door into the bar, but I was not. Instead, happily, I found a bar really close to my sister's apartment with cheap Blue Moon bottles of beer for $1.50. I made sure not to check the expiration date for I was afraid I would find out they were expired thus the cheap price. Regardless, the beer was tasty. The patio is quaint and a nice place to convene if you don't want to listen to Godsmack and Deftone music from the small iJukebox they have inside blaring at you from all sides of the bar. Also, even though San Antonio passed a no-smoking ordinance in public restaurant/bar places you can STILL smell the smoke that use to occupy this bar if you stay in long enough. This is why outside on the patio is the best idea to be. Don't worry - you can still hear the horrible music outside thanks to the small computer speakers set up on the patio. Bartender was nice and thankfully she remembered my name which can be a pet peeve for me when I continually go up to the bar to order my beer (I don;'t want to have to report my last name over and over again especially when some dude next to me wants to holler at me and I am trying my best to avoid him). It was a bit slow on the Tuesday night I was there so it is hard to judge how service would be when it is moving. What is odd, I find, about San Antonio bars is that there is ALWAYS someone coming up to me with a styrofoam cooler in one hand wearing a fanny pack who wants to sell me tamales or tacos. WHY? WHYYYYYY do bar owners allow this?! And it just doesn't happen once or twice throughout the night, it happened 4 times when I was at this pub for ONE night! Listen, if I want tacos or tamales, I will go next door to the small and cheap taqueria next door that is open all hours of the night. I DO NOT want to be approached while I am drinking and having conversations with my friends. I am coming from out of town for bars sake! I do not want to be approached by anyone with a cooler or a fanny pack! I will stay in AUSTIN if I wanted that. read more

I definitely came on the right night. $3 for ANYTHING! I feel like a kid in a candy store. Everything is clean, it does have a bit of a funky smell when you first walk in, but you become nose blind to it very quickly. Nice outside seating area with TVs. The staff is very friendly and helpful and even though it's not too busy they are busting their butts. Much thanks to Dave and Diane for making my Wednesday night fun. Called multiple times to place a to-go order around 7pm on a Wednesday, no answer for most of my calls, and then, when I finally get through, the person who answered the phone was unbelievably rude! Here was the conversation... Bar: "Hello, Irish Pub." Me: "Hi, I'd like to place an order for pickup." Bar: "I can't understand you, I don't take orders over the phone, and I'm busy. Bye." Clearly the lady I spoke to 1) doesn't have any business sense; 2) doesn't routinely interact with sober customers who aren't desensitized to rudeness; 3) is pissed off for one reason or another, be it a plain old bad day or the typical "I hate my job". Whatever the case, it's not my problem, nor should it be the problem of any customer. I will NEVER go to this restaurant, and I hope others stay clear to avoid further customer disservice. If serving customers is so much of a hassle, why even be in business? To the management, do you want to do me a favor? Don't write about how sorry you are about my poor experience, don't offer me a discount or free meal to "make it up" to me, don't do anything other than one thing. And that is, teach your bartender, waitress, whoever how to deal with customers! read more

And customers who came after us were served first ??????? Really ? and our waitress didn't come back to ask if we wanted a dinner until after our apps were served and i has to ask for eating utensils.... Really? I normally like this place but tonight sucked so bad I felt compelled to write a bad review. Avoid this place on Tuesdays. My bartender was possibly the worst I have ever had the misfortune of being served by. She forgot my drink order twice. How hard is Jack and Coke? She either needs to reconsider her career choice or quit drinking on the job. Either way, there is no excuse for such poor service. Ah, the 'ol Irish Pub. A group of us go to this dive bar every Wednesday night to chat and kick up our feet. The atmosphere is pretty chill and the drink prices are great (on Wednesday). The two bartenders, Hanna and Trey take care of us every week and have even memorized our drinks (that's good and bad I guess). It usually gets lively after 11pm and on 1 occasion, it was so crowded we had to wait 15minutes to get a drink. But most of the time, it's very relaxed (unless someone puts terrible music in the jukebox). read more

Whenever an Irish holiday is on the horizon this place is always on the radar. Don't let the location scare you, yes it's a dive bar but has remained surprisingly un-ghetto over the years. This is the only place I have been able to find an Irish car bomb made properly, and they also carry plenty of draft and import beers that I like. Even Young's Chocolate Stout. The chairs aren't the most comfortable, but the drink specials make up for it. They even now have a small outdoor patio, which makes for a really good place to stop in and have a pint. read more

Irish Pub is one of my favorite bars of all time, and you can trust me when I say this because I've been to bars all over the world. It's what I do. The best part of this establishment is a bartender by the name of Amy. She is hilarious! She does the best Marge Simpson impression I have ever heard. She juggles during her down time and does magic tricks out of the blue. One time she made my drink disappear by chugging it!! She loves it when you bring her fresh biscuits to eat! I never understood this until she told me that she grew up in a biscuit factory. Then it all made sense. Please go here! Came here once after a friend recommended i check it out. The place is kind of small with a few tables and seating available at the bar. The coolers were down the day i chose to go, so no one was able to buy bottles of beer which was supposed to cost $2.75, all that was available was draft beer at almost $4 a pint, I didn't think that was fair cause it was def not the customers fault that the coolers were down. The service was horrible too, the bartender was rude and took forever to get our drinks cause she was flirting with some idiot next to us. read more

When he was ready to pay the tab the bartenders told him that they could not find his card. They didn't do anything to help find the card nor did they seem the least bit concerned about what happened. We called our credit card and it had been used at a restaurant fraudulently.
